I was a die hard GM guy until I got my 2019 Raptor. I’d love to tell you that it was the biggest pile of crap on 4 tires, but I just can’t (and still be honest). Ran perfectly for 100k miles, not a single warranty claim or repair beyond normal maintenance. At 100k, I started having cam phaser noise and the heated seat on the driver’s side went out. I ordered my 2024 back at the end of Oct ‘23 and it arrived at the end of March 24’. I have 4k miles on the new one and still no warranty issues. I’m amazed at the improvements on the 24 on what was already a great truck. I upgraded and got the Raptor 37 package and have been super happy with the truck.
My uncle he’s a master mechanic for Ford. He loves his Raptor!!! Makes it easier for him to work on it since he has a lot of knowledge if anything goes wrong.
Heck yeah nice! U still have it? How many miles now? My 2015 3.5 ecoboost just rolled 260k on original engine and trans!! Hoping to get 200k more out of it
I’ve got the’17 Gen 2 loaded out 802b etc. Same as this one. Blk blk Been a great vehicle. Before this I’d always driven Benz, Porsche, Audi, etc but after the last hurricane in Houston flooded out my sedan I went to the Raptor and haven’t looked back. My next one will be a Raptor as well, despite the price. Have full warranty through 120k miles. I’m at 85k, and will keep it one more year. Highly recommend.
I own a 2016 F-150 5.0 and even with 210k on the clock, it runs and drives like new. Really impressed with how ford’s leather stands up to use. Can confirm Chevy’s leather is light years behind what ford offers. I’ve been kicking around the idea of a Gen 2 raptor once mine starts giving me issues, and your video helped me get a better idea of what owning one would be like
I service a couple 1st gens at my shop and they are absolutely solid trucks. Just well made all together. Just replaced the factory Fox shocks on one with new Fox shocks right from Ford.

I BEAT mine off road almost everyday, whether it's a 30s burst through a whooped out road or an hour long play session. 50,000 miles later on my 2019 Gen 2 and everything has been fine except for a bent tie-rod one time I was going too hard. Also, I've scratched the crap out of my paint with pin-striping from bushes, but I've never ceramic coated or waxed the paint. Glad to hear yours has treated you well. Built tough as hell.

The wider part goes at the front because it stops rocks and debris from kicking up into the side of the truck. Those steps are not going to bump the truck over like a rock slider would.
105 k on mine gen 2 and it looks damn near brand new has a few rock chips here and there. Cam phaser issue at 97k and it was covered from ford, i do have the extended warranty though. I get 16.4 on average with auto shut off always turned off and drive in comfort mode all the time unless i want to fly by people then ill switch to sport on the fly when needed, do expect harder shifts while in sport and it should be driven hard in sport its what the truck needs. In my opinion gen 2 looks way better less boxy all the amber makers are smaller but still bright gen 3 looks like all amber makers are huge. Pretty much same performance gen 3 vs gen 2 unless your getting a raptor R. Gen 2 is more curvy/sleek looking. 37 plus is harder long term on all components plus you get less travel less mpg i personally don't think the trade off is worth it. Unless your offroad only and don't care about countless repairs. Gen 3 screen upgrades are nice though lol. Love raptors they'll do almost whatever you throw at them.
@@drewnardwoods i dont think so. Theres some tearms on the cam phaser recall that they cover but it within a certain time frame and millage. I dont remember those details. You'll have to call a dealer or do some research.
I absolutely love my gen 2. I do wish as well it had a supercharged v8 but the ecoboost gets the job done and then some... although my cam phasers are toast lol. Awesome review!

Well informed video! I’m looking for a raptor and I found a 2020 with 95k miles for $51k, 1 owner no accidents. Don’t know much about ford engines and how reliable they are hence why I’m here. Does that seem like a good deal? Only thing I’m on edge is how they got 95k miles in 2-3 years

The 2020 they already fixed the cam phasers, mine made 437whp/491rwtq on a mustang dyno w/ a very conservative 93 octane Gearhead tune. Has had the tune since 3k miles lol.
I just got a 2018 52k miles. Only drove 100 or so miles because I have a company vehicle so it sits. It's great so far. I did notice the temp gauge got up to 230-240. Not sure if that's normal for one of these.
Congrats on the raptor and I would keep a eye on that gauge to make sure the truck doesn’t over heat also check all the fluids make sure everything is full

Price seems a little high for a stock truck and a 2017 if the truck is really clean and one owner and still has warranty it’s not a bad buy the prices usually dip down way more once they cross over 100k miles

No they do not all come with extended cabs.. Most are crew cabs. I have a special order ext cab. Ford has now canceled the ext cab for the gen 3, which is crap..

at 100k miles, how many times have you had to address the shocks? Fox recommends every 10,000-50,000 miles. I'm wondering if that's more of a marketing gimmick to make you do it or if it's an actual problem.

@@tooie you will be good with the 2020 because those came with the active shocks the 2017 didn’t have that so yours are way better just do a cold start on that truck and make sure it doesn’t have timing chain or cam phaser issues.
The gen 3 should of been updated with power and torque. Ford dropped the ball on that one. I do love my 17 Raptor though. Have loved my v-8 f150's also. They could of made the Raptor R even more powerful than 700 Hp... Ford updated the shocks on the 19 to live valve. Pissed me off, lol. The comments on the moonroof were off, most people have had issues with noise/rattleing. Not water issues.. This youtuber seems like a spoiled kid...

My 2011 f150 5.0 has 269k and still runs like a champ. I had a set of the bfgs and loved them. Got 70k miles out of them and super quiet on the road.

Timing chain and cam phaser noise make sure the truck is cold when you get there and listen to any clunking noise cause the shocks could be leaking

We didn’t even touch them once lol but they did feel very worn out the truck drove fine just super floaty lost the little stiffness they had

@@tooie you will be good with the 2020 because those came with the active shocks the 2017 didn’t have that so yours are way better just do a cold start on that truck and make sure it doesn’t have timing chain or cam phaser issues.

The gen 3 should of been updated with power and torque. Ford dropped the ball on that one. I do love my 17 Raptor though. Have loved my v-8 f150's also. They could of made the Raptor R even more powerful than 700 Hp... Ford updated the shocks on the 19 to live valve. Pissed me off, lol. The comments on the moonroof were off, most people have had issues with noise/rattleing. Not water issues.. This youtuber seems like a spoiled kid...
