I just need to say... I wanted to pull this down since we have now re-recorded it the way I always wanted to sing it, but management wanted it to stay up as a glimpse of the history. this was three years ago... back when we recorded this original version I wasn't a singer - just a guy who wanted to try... three years on and I'm much happier, we also hit number 1 in the charts in the UK and number 8 in the USA which blows my mind to pieces. Anyway... I'll leave it up, but please check out out latest EP "Catalyst" for an update on the "sound of Dorje", cheers guys Rob P.S please like this comment so other can see it ;-)
rob you're such an Inspiration to me and always put a smile on my face, you are always making me try and write the best music I can. I love your demos and your band and am sure as fuck buying the album. May you be blessed by the gods of rock \m/
Man, over 10 years later and that solo still hits just as hard. Such perfect balance of shred and melody and just UGHHH. Amazing work Rabea. One of my favorite guitar solos ever.
Dude i love dorje, im so sad theyre no longer a band. Im literally re-recording this for fun on my pc at home tonight.. ill likely upload a version as an ode to rob and bea's awesome band.. Honestly, his vocals are perfectly fine. It's just that they're not very prominent in the mix. However his voice really suits this style of music and he's pretty much on pitch. You can't ask for much more.
Psshh as a singer mysefl I can say that he is REALLY TALENTED. I don't like this style of vocals much but it's impressive he doesn't start coughing or something. I know I would!
Wow these guys rock, I had no clue that Rob sang. For me, vocals aren't always about how amazing your voice is, its more about how they fit the band and the music that's being made. I think Robs vocals fit perfect with the music and creates a nice tone.
I like the simple video focusing on you guys. To some it may be dated, but I enjoy it and wish some of the "dated" parts of music from the 60s-80s would make a comeback.
i for one like the extreme clarity of robs vocals. and the band as a whole is just so good a match i cant even.. also rabea is an absolutly insane player
This track right here -- raw as it is -- is what got me hooked. Don't ever pull it down. I've enjoyed following all of you, and I continue to share this with friends who know excellence when they hear it.
It depends on the type of battle I guess. If it were in a tank,I'd choose Addicted to Chaos by Megadeth If it were in a chopper,I'd choose Black Rain by Soundgarden or Deconstruction by Witchcraft If it were in a combat airplane, No Win Situation by Hoobastank And if it were with a fu*king longsword in a badass armor it would be Murmaider by Deathklok. And I'm too specific not to seem like a weirdo.at ALL. However,I'd advise you to listen to them all.
If you're in a tank, just put on "The Hurt That Finds You First" by Meshuggah, and keep that on repeat. I can guarantee there will be nothing but bodies everywhere afterwards.

your guys use of odd meter is awesome but I love how you guys combine the older/more classic vibe of rock music into a newer and very progressive style. very very unique. it's like, classic rock djent haha
So glad I found you guys. You scratch a musical itch that hasn't been scratched in a long time. I love the slightly funky feel. Reminds me a bit of Nuno Bettancourt. Please make a hundred albums.
Sick of seeing all these comments saying shit like 'omg wher iz da kaptin'. This is Dorje, Lee is not part of this band, he does not play this style of music, he is mainly a Jazz/Blues guitarist, that's why he isn't here, and to answer that question, at this time I'd imagine he's at home

One of the best and most underrated guitar solos of all time. _That_ is a solo that only a complete master could be able to will into existence, and it is an absolute shame that it isn't even mentioned all that much. It seriously has something for fans of every single type of rock/guitar-based music out there in one perfect, tasteful solo. Such mastery there; I can't begin to explain it. Fucking good shit, m8
I honestly don't know a single person who's even heard of Dorje outside of their online cult following. I think the unpleasant and shoddy vocals really spoiled their amazing tracks. A really good professional female singer would have lifted this band to a whole different height imo.

I want to sing in this band!!! The music simply concludes my quest for peace and releases me from man-made enslavement. It is rare that there is such strength, power and passion in any piece of music that is actually 'good' for the soul!
One day I wish to upload a song that you come across and give me a thumbs up. You are someone that has influenced and kept me going for quite a while. Been pulling all nighters and long hours weekly to get as many songs compiled for a song list to go gig with my uncle.....I just hope i continue to improve and be a better improv guitar player like you.
Buddy, you got my feeling. I live with a soundengineer (my wife) and she has DESTROYED thousands of songs but this one, even she can appreciate it. And let's be real: relax and enjoy what it is / how it is! could this be "improved"? maybe, but we need to stop being assholes in the first place.
Rabea is swiftly becoming one of my favorite guitarists. He also happened to explain modes in a way I could finally get my head around after 15 years of playing. Happy days.
Yeah! Nice groove. I want to go down to Andertons. Looks like a great place from what I see on RUclips. And a pub next door... get in there and scarf some nuts... shoot back and buy a les Paul then run across a burning bridge whilst shredding some Satch with my damned ass on fire. This is perfect guys. Fu***ng awesome. Whatever they say in the comments below, Chapper's voice is just great as it is. It fits just right with that type of music an the band's overall sound and groove.
Hate to jump on the bandwagon, but... Chapman should think about spiffing up his vocals a bit. A couple of recording tricks and Dorje could knock Alter Bridge off of the Bulletin charts. Other than that, top notch guys. Consider moving to America. Larger population means larger marketing....
I've got nothing but good things to say about his singing ability. I just wonder why there's not double tracking or anything fancy added to it. Especially considering the grand, stadium rock nature of the song.
I know what you mean. The tempo of this song is like ride. And omg, I love it. That solo is fucking awesome. Just incredible. Is there a tab for this song and what's the tuning?
That's what happens, you have the bands/musicians who revolutionize the music scene and then for the next 10-15 years you have people emulating those original pioneers. Not saying that there's not talent in those later bands, they just don't seem to have the same effect as those that breakthrough with a new type of sound. In my opinion, originality is as important to success as talent..maybe even more so.
some cool riffs and good structure here. I like chappers voice when he puts some dirt into it. Not keen on the guitar tone though, its a bit too tinny and scratchy but overall its a decent song. Certainly different from most modern rock
i think rob voice got a lot of potential but his singing need some work for sure. the music itself need some balancing and clearing up. just because its heavy metal dosnt mean it should sound like nuclear fallout. a sound engineer friend of mine use what he call "the cheap headphones test" to make sure it sound good not only on his studio quality equipment. if it pass the cheap headphones test it will sound good on everything.
this is... awesome. The guitar, the drums, so nice hearing them together! such a catchy chorus, beautiful slopes up and down, rockin melodies, powerful singin voice, ripping guitar sounds... just awesome!
I just need to say... I wanted to pull this down since we have now re-recorded it the way I always wanted to sing it, but management wanted it to stay up as a glimpse of the history.

All the time! Love me some Dorje
@@james4401- UH yeah! timeless rock music
Timeless record!
Hell yeah!
hehe just played it
I like that u can really hear the bass unlike in many other bands/songs where the bass is kind of lost in the mix
That's what happens when your bassist is your engineer, mixer, and producer
Why would you mute the bass when u have a good bassist.
+Dimebag Darrell who said anything about muting it?
ThunderHawk606 I meant turning the volume down. No one mutes their bass I know that.
dave's style is just remarkable

The guy really knows how to use his voice and honestly, i would love to sing at his level.
Bea's solo is beyond awesome :0
By the way the vocals are coming along very well in my opinion-everyone's a critic..but the voice is on pitch and steady..my 2 cents
I actually agree as I don't think that I can honestly do any better singing this song.
ibemanny99 lol ok?
Bea's solo kicked some major ass. Wish it was brought up more in the mix though
Man, Rob's vocals and Dave's bass are soooo great in this song!
Your drummer has godlike timing......

+TMmodify if you're on a tank, maybe SDMF- Black Label Society. but Dethklok is amazing as well

+SuperKamenPower that shouldnt matter tho bro its music and they know, each other
I love jared and all but rest repose sucks.
***** I think most of fluffs riffs sound the same. And kind of generic same with the whole band, they're kind of generic.
would be soo sick
nobody fucking cares about your shit opinion.
One of the coolest intros ever. I wanted to track to come back to that motif again, so cool
Rob got shit on for his vocals so guess what...he practiced like a mofo n got better. The teaser from their new stuff sounds boss!
This track is just badass. There are so many incredible moments.
Is Dorje ever going to record together again?
Bea's face at 4.10 is the face of a man who just pulled of a mad solo...! Amazing song!
This band is 15 years late.
true
That's what happens, you have the bands/musicians who revolutionize the music scene and then for the next 10-15 years you have people emulating those original pioneers. Not saying that there's not talent in those later bands, they just don't seem to have the same effect as those that breakthrough with a new type of sound. In my opinion, originality is as important to success as talent..maybe even more so.
So I've just discovered Dorje.
I WILL LISTEN TO THIS UNTIL IT IS RUINED
let me guess 4 years and not ruined
I just love the guitar solo!! RABEA ROCKS!!!
These boys can play, really good.....love the Chappers but you need a singer with a raspy guttural tone
some cool riffs and good structure here.
I like chappers voice when he puts some dirt into it.
Not keen on the guitar tone though, its a bit too tinny and scratchy but overall its a decent song. Certainly different from most modern rock
WOW! Just found this song on Amazon Prime music. The guitar riffs are just crushing.
i think rob voice got a lot of potential but his singing need some work for sure.
the music itself need some balancing and clearing up.
just because its heavy metal dosnt mean it should sound like nuclear fallout.
a sound engineer friend of mine use what he call "the cheap headphones test" to make sure it sound good not only on his studio quality equipment.
if it pass the cheap headphones test it will sound good on everything.
I actually prefer this rendition of the song.
Finally somebody else who thinks that too
Lenny Henry Yes please boo boo xx
this is... awesome. The guitar, the drums, so nice hearing them together! such a catchy chorus, beautiful slopes up and down, rockin melodies, powerful singin voice, ripping guitar sounds... just awesome!
It sounds like Alter Bridge. I like.
yea no. different style there but its still amazing
Totally agree with my alter ego...
not really
Look his shirt man...I think its Alter Bridge! LoL 3:08
Sounds like a thousand bands did in the 90's nothing new just the same old same old.
Rinse and repeat.
A Cun t candlebox, live, creed
Fuhgawz102 Wat ಠ_ಠ
I love Rob but I have to agree with OP, sounds like generic 90s to me. Just my opinion, just me and my bad ears.
Mike Light So if i was to write a metal song, I would be copying all the music in the past 45 years?
