Aptera fans care about the vehicle, Aptera investors should care much more about the business model/business case. Unfortunately Aptera has a problem with the latter: to make this vehicle at a reasonable price and at a reasonable profit they will have to scale it to a point where supply will outstrip demand. That means that no serious investor will bankroll the ramp because, simply put, it isn't realistic. Even if it were realistic it is notoriously difficult to ramp a new product as expensive and complex as an automobile, even when the demand would actually match supply at a market clearing price. Hats off to them for getting a prototype to this level but I seriously doubt that this gets to production and stays there.

@@MrGamelover23 people were already driving cars when Henry Ford introduced his revolutionary production line based manufacturing process. Aptera is not in a comparable position to Ford, that's a false equivalence.
Production costs for Aptera are higher on a per unit basis than their proposed selling price. The only way to reduce those costs is to scale but scaling requires a demand much higher than that which exists for their vehicle. It is a 2 seat, 3 wheeler - it might be a great vehicle but it does not have the demand. On the subject of the carbon fibre body, are they going to have them all made in Italy and shipped over to the US? That's crazy. Are they going to set up a factory to mass produce carbon fibre bodies in the US? Check out how BMW got on with the carbon body on the i3.

I really love the stark display of the spedo on my 07 Prius, because it is as far forward as possible under the windshield. This is a feature I would like to see widely adopted. When one is driving down the road, close up displays make no sense at all for ease on the eyes. Young people may not notice, but older people sure will.

I love this car. Definitely the way EVs and maybe even petrol cars should be moving. I do obviously like and sometimes need more space but this car is perfect for 95% of car trips. The fact is charges with the sun is just amazing, which I'd consider giving up extra space for. My only downside I have is that it isn't at least a 3 seater

@@abrahamsanchez7331 you seriously think that's the way people reason when they buy a vehicle? This car is a 2 seat 3 wheeler which costs not much less than a 4/5 seat , 4 wheeler - demand will be smaller than required to make a profit. Take a look at Arcimoto, they also make 2 seater 3 wheeled EVs and suffered a similar demand problem.

The Gamma was the original design production intent vehicle. That interesting material you rubbed is Kevlar in a polyurethane matrix that comes in sheets and is moldable. It forms a tunnel that is structural and would keep the front and rear suspension in sync. So to speak. But they found a way to really mass produce with a new process that the cybertruck and Toyota is using in some of its new trucks beds. SMC! But Aptera may be the first one to bring a safety cell to the masses. Along with an elegant platform for the batteries, crush cans and suspension.
I am glad to hear your uncles comparison to the 240. I had a 280ZX 2+2 turbo. I was a good road car. A little light in the rear and a 5th gear that had no legal use. Your audio really picked up the motor sound nicely.

I found out about Aptera about two months ago and personally really really love it. So far it seems to be everything I am looking for in a car. EV with solar, sleek futuristic design, quiet as hell, good power, two seater and most importantly, reasonably priced.
However, here is where my fears start to kick in. Unfortunately companies come and go all the time and while Aptera has a lot of potential, I am nervous of long term use. I personally do not travel far often and never go camping or anything so I don’t worry about any of that. However I do worry about the things like repairability. I know that as an EV it has a lot less moving parts, however if something goes wrong from a touchscreen that stops working to even changing the wheels (especially the back one) I am getting that feeling of trepidation that if I owned one of these and something went wrong I’d be told something like, “well we have only one dealer that’s located in California and the wait times are over a year for service”.
I currently drive a Hybrid Civic and love it because it’s so common that you can find parts everywhere for it. For someone like me who cannot repair cars at all, it helps knowing any mechanic probably has what I am looking for. That’s the reason I currently drive what I drive.

Aptera is a right to repair company and will strive for 24 houir parts turnaround. I live in Iowa and have already had my local repair shops tell me that they will be glad to work on my Aptera when I get it. The plan to have mobile repair folks in Southern California, but the first several thousand Launch Edition vehicles will have to be picked up in person in California in any case.

Your wife is the first person I've heard who acknowledges that the steering wheel looks like the kid from Adventure Time. I've been saying this for ages now. LOL. Anyway, with the seats pushed forward slightly, it seems like they _could_ have put a third seat where the flat back area drops down into the cabin, for small-ish people. That would make it perfect for me because I have a son, but it's too far along to add such a feature. Maybe in the larger iteration coming in a few years.

The seats move forward about 12" - so people in the front would need to have their knees on the dashboard and anyone in a rear seat would have to have no lower limbs. Plus there isn't any empty space beneath rear storage deck or behind seating area.
