You are 110% spot on with your disappointment and frustration with Aptera in regards to the NBC coverage. Chris Anthony would know better than anyone at Aptera what Gamma was capable of and that the cooling system was not complete. All I hear when I mention the Aptera to friends is "Oh the car that can't make it up the hill that was on NBC. You like that thing?" I can explain the issue until I am blue in the face but the image of Chris A. and the reporter pulling over due to over heating then Chris saying it was the first time someone drove up a hill, just can't be removed from their head. Mistakes happen and lord knows that I have made my own. What I don't understand is why Aptera did not turn this around in 24/48 hours and upgrade Gamma. A gamma vehicle is NOT to just be a pretty looking vehicle but 80% complete. To not have a 42kWh battery and to not have the cooling system 100% hooked up is really a bad look for Aptera. Gamma is only slightly better than the alpha vehicles in some ways. When Aptera came out and said that the LE would not have DCFC nearly everyone was upset and is very short order Chris and Steve turned that around and made a very bad situation into a very good situation by reversing the decision and to include DCFC. Not only include it but point out that it will charge at nearly 500 miles per hour! It now has been a couple of weeks since NBC aired the segment and still no upgrade to Gamma. Some have said why bother when the delta vehicles will be made soon. Given Aptera's history of delivery, it will likely be the end of December 2023 before we see a delta vehicle and that is a huge amount of time to be known as the vehicle that can't make it up what looks like a small hill. Aptera will likely never get a chance to be on NBC again but they really need to complete Gamma and make some videos of it going slow and fast up the same hill and even much steeper hills with the 42kWh battery. (Slow because there is less air cooling and fast because there is more load on the whole system in general.) To add to it, they need to do it on a very hot day. As an investor in Aptera, I just can't believe they let this interview spin so far out of control. The rest of the interview was actually pretty good but does anyone actually remember what the rest of the interview was about? Most likely, No. The only thing you remember is them pulling over because it overheated. I have asked Aptera to make a bad situation into a good marketing tool but they just seem to ignore that. I truly hope they complete Gamma as a real gamma vehicle and not just a shell of a vehicle for marketing. It is very obvious that their incomplete vehicle just killed the positive marketing that was occurring. Would any of us invested in Aptera if we had not done so prior to the NBC article? Aptera, Please make this into a positive opportunity, ASAP.
@@houssamalucad753 Yes, adding a mechanism adds complexity and weight, but active grille shutters/louvers may improve aerodynamics more than enough to offset the downsides. For example, search for the RUclips video titled "Know Your Toyota - Active Grille Shutters".
The surface area of the bottom half of the car doesn't offer enough sq cm to dissipate the heat. Plus they are trying to do this through a composite material which has a much lower thermal conduction coefficient than does a metal aluminum cooling fin. Aptera has its priorities in the wrong places. Aerodynamics should not be number 1, safety should. Plus who wants to be enclosed by the cooling system? Imagine if it sprung a leak of hot coolant. The air conditioning system would be trying to cool the heat that it's own condenser is making? They need a good thermodynamic engineer.
@SilverShadow2LWB I'm sorry spung a leak of hot coolant that the condenser is making I think you may have meant something different because a condensers whole purpose is to release heat.
@@akeyto86 You are absolutely correct. In order to cool the hot coolant liquid, it needs to be connected to the input of the condenser. The output of the condenser should be cooler for it has dissipated the heat to the atmosphere. A leak at condenser input since could be bad news for anybody in the vehicle. Most vehicles that have an AC system have the condenser isolated to an area remote to the passenger cabin such as in front of the radiator. Vehicle heating and cooling is a science all to itself. What I am getting at, is that you don't want to heat the cabin of the vehicle with the condenser which is part of the same system trying to cool it the interior temperature down. Thanks.
Sam, sorry to hear that you had been going through a rough time over the past two weeks and very happy to hear that you're feeling better. You have a great talent. I wish you the best!!
Your analysis is greatly appreciated. As a 24.5 year veteran of the legacy auto industry, I have my share of dark days as well. We’re stronger together as a community, take all the time you need.👍
Sam...take care of yourself and don't be afraid to ask for help. You're very good at what you do and we are all here hoping you feel better soon. Also, when making videos, quality is always better than quantity, so take your time and we will be here cheering you on when you are ready.
Sam, I am sorry to hear about the tough times you've been going through. You're a brilliant young video journalist and you are doing amazing work. Please take good care of yourself and best wishes. 😍
It would be a good look for Aptera to do a follow up video explaining what was left out or what went wrong. I agree that they should have been well prepared for the test. Could really give them a black eye.
they already rolled out the excuse train which is their forte . Gamma was thrown together and not feature complete. Basically same stuff different day. They always have an excuse for why they have not delivered on one stated production date and when they fall flat on their face trying to show off their vehicles shows a level of ineptness that has resulted in the vehicle taking this long to develop

Remember they need to change the front suspension arms to the production version on Gama to do the final hook up as the lines are hidden inside them for aerodynamics. Its not simply adding hoses since the routing is no longer external. I would have delayed the NBC reveal until they had a chance to finish setting up Gama with thermal management and not presented it in the Dog Days or Summer without it. That they were able to drive it as far as they did this time of year without the thermal system hooked up is quite promising. Best!
I have the same view. All their builds to date are test beds. None are completely production. Software may also have needed a tweak to “add” motor cooling to the system and may still be under development in another test bed with design changes ahead of the prototype they drove for NBC. I agree the look is bad, but the decision was made to go ahead with a drivable prototype as-is. I also agree that Steve and Chris should step up now, preferably on NBC as well as their own web site and explain what happened to quell speculation.
My decades long depression went into remission after starting vitamin D3. I take 2000 IUs a day and my Doctor checks my blood level is no longer deficient. I have been off antidepressants for several years. Thank you for all your videos and no pressure on when to get them out. Congratulations on getting an Aptera the best vehicle design for efficiency after a bike
I'm a huge Aptera fan and investor and on the leaderboard and I love to hear this accountability! thank you!! I've been hoping to hear more "hard questions" for transparency on the timeline of the company. your videos are awesome and I understand your struggles personally too so also wishing you all the best in your journey. I've found the clearest meanings in my darkest moments and I wish the same for you.
Sam, the amazing thing is the performance of this prototype with none of the cooling hooked up! The gamma vehicle was not finished before it was shipped off to Europe, and it has given several months of demo rides and undergone other testing before it came back. This was a publicity mis-step, but there are no cooling issues in the basic design, which will be proven when delta is put through its validation tests. The wheels have circulating antifreeze for cooling, and the lines had never been hooked up. This has been corrected for later demos.
Sam, I appreciate your concern. But I believe that this was a simple oversight. I saw and sat in the Gamma model at the Fully Charged show, and they had changed many things on the Gamma model including the new, finished (slightly larger) body, with different seat placement, console, display, steering yoke, side view camera displays, plus it was the first prototype using the working solar panels, and the final design for the full 45kWh battery pack, and belly cooling system. Most show models have bare minimal operation, but this Gamma model was a testbed for many of Aptera's innovative implementations of new technologies. And Gamma showed well at FC. But unfortunately American funding for EV startups had soured, and Aptera moved towards their next step in development. Which started in Italy, with the CPC Group, who makes low volume carbon fiber chassis and bodies for exotic cars. Right after the FC show, Gamma was shipped to CPC for evaluation and review for their engineering team, and producing pressed CF and SMC body panels. Because CPC will be building the production Aptera's body (starting in a few months from now). Plus Aptera used the Gamma to raise European investment, and it was driven there in cold weather and worked just fine. The Gamma model was then shipped back to California to start a state-wide tour of local EV related events and shows, to keep Aptera in the news. But I think that much of Aptera's real focus lately has been in preparation for volume production in 2024, using Aptera Accelerator investments, combined with CA grant payback (and recent tax exclusions). In addition, Aptera did have to cut their staff considerably to reduce their operating costs and overhead, so that they had fewer resources to quickly retrofit full functionality to Gamma, which had worked just fine over the last 6 months. But that was a mistake. Aptera's focus had moved onto the real testing to show the production Aptera EVs real world capabilities. Which will be done on the upcoming Delta models, with the new CF chassis, and SMC body, the re-engineered, custom Elaphe motors, and tuned inverter, the production-intent battery pack, full HVAC, software, control systems, and the final cooling system. This upcoming Aptera model is the one that counts. It will be the first Aptera subject to real world crash testing, efficiency, range, and performance testing. And Aptera has VERY high goals to hit on many fronts. This prototype cooling issue was a mistake, to be sure. But I consider it to be about the same as the wobbly wheel pants on the Jay Leno Alpha review video, or Aptera not including DC fast charging initially. At the moment, it was a key mistake to publicly show, but since then they fixed the problem moving forward, and it was soon forgotten. As this mistake will be, once Delta models have been fully, 3rd-party tested, and a fixed Aptera production date is announced. Stay strong Sam! I have always had great faith in you, and your work. Doing hard-hitting, deep dives, in-depth research into corruption and lies has got to take a toll. As well as dealing with trolls. And you are certainly not going to be getting giant corporate support with unbiased reporting. But 34K subscribers, and hundreds of Patreon supporters like me who believe in you, should reassure you that you are on the right track, and that it is vital to have those counterpoint voices out there, who question, and research, and tell the whole story. Like you do.
While it stinks they didn’t hook it up, it’s better than the reason being that the cooling system was just not good enough. I’d rather a mistake be the cause than an inherent problem with the cooling system
Thanx for the great reviews. Love your channel. Hang tight brother, I didn't/couldn't leave the house for almost a month (slight breakdown) Be strong, I'll be praying for you. Much Love and Respect 😉👍
Learn basic math. 33 years ago was 1990. The original Aptera was founded in 2005. Aptera didn't deliver any vehicles before running out of funds. Congratulations on a 100% score of being wrong. Wow a startup went bankrupt once, how shocking. This time they'll either get enough investors, and make it to production or they'll go bankrupt before production, or design flaw/recall bankrupts them after production starts. No different than any other startup.
Thanks for being there when you can to fight the good fight. Definitely take the time you need to care about yourself also. You are making a difference. Cheers
Sam: Aptera's cooling system wasn't hooked up, a very bad PR mistake. Don't read more into it. I ordered two in 2020, forced to take the 400 range, which I plan to sell, replacing it with a 250. I don't drive much at 80, about 2-3K miles/yr. Also, if I want to replace the battery when a major breakthrough comes out, I will have the minimum invested. I might even want to replace the PV panels.
Have you covered any of the Hybrids? Specifically the E-Ray. I see the Aptera and the wheel Motors. I want front wheel motors for my Gas Engine rear drive vehicle. Anyone going there yet? Dennis
I've never watched one of your vids before, but taking the time to echo the sentiments of many regulars who said: "chin up, man", you do a stellar job, just do it at your own pace and keep the pressure off. My 2c.
Great video! I'm an Aptera investor and hope to get one in the future. I would also have wished they did a better job making sure the version driven had something that basic hooked up and functional.
I plan to drive across the desert from San Diego to Las Vegas where i live doing many trips with lots of hills and heat back and forth. Hopefully this is fixed by my Delivery date of 2024. Get er done Aptera!
I too see the highlighted failure as a potential make or break piece of exposure. Self care is important. If it's burnout or just general mental health it's important to take good care of yourself.
First off take care of yourself! You are the most important you. I can across your channel by accident. Just some background on me. You said that the Aptera is a young niche. I have to disagree. I’m an old fart, (over 65) and I love the car and concept. I’ve been dreaming of this since it was a gas’s concept. I hated to see the car fail on a national outlet. Real bad look! Thank you for explaining what you think is the failure. This makes me feel a little bit better about the Aptera going forward. Thanks for the content. I’ll be watching.
Hang in there Sam, there are lots of us behind you who also fight this battle, and we only wish the best for you! As far as Gamma cooling is concerned, if it were only a matter of plumbing the wheel motors to the rest of the system, it would have been done I believe. I think Gamma is running with little to no cooling system for the wheel motors to connect to, and here are my reasons. Because cooling has been of little issue so far, (cooler weather season and light work loads) and because the skin cooling is difficult to prototype, I believe Aptera is waiting for the first die-cast belly pans from CPC. If this holds true, Gamma has no skin cooling. Air conditioning is also an integral part of the cooling system, and we have no evidence that Gamma has A/C installed either. If this holds true, Gamma has no stage two cooling, and therefore little to no cooling whatsoever, unless some prototype method has been implemented.... but we have no evidence for this as well. I agree that the NBC piece should never have been done without adequate cooling (temporary or otherwise) not only installed, but tested prior, so that a good impression could be made for an important first time in front of this large audience! Let's hope that this critical experience has left an indelible impression with the smart folks at Aptera as they move forward in their marketing!
I was so happy to see a new video, and I enjoyed it as usual. So sorry to hear you have been struggling. You always seem so "up" and positive in your work, and you lift your viewers with your well researched deep dives into the media shitf*ckery. Best wishes to you.
Always look forward to another video from you Sam. Take the time you need. Stay up on your health in all the ways you need to. We’re here for ya if and when you need us…for whatever thousands of strangers could possibly help with :)
Crikey, they'd better not rush this into production. And they'd better test it on round trips from LA to the Hoover Dam and back, during the hottest weather of the year. Having it overheat in the middle of the desert would be terrible.
I don’t think they need public approval anymore. I think they need money which the general public doesn’t have a lot of. What has money is investor meetings in Europe which has LOADS of money
I agree with you at every point. As an investor I am pretty disappointed. I was so excited when the program started and called everyone to come see. Now I’m pretty damn mad it went that way. Come on!!! WTF
BTW. Get that car over to Hawaii. You’ve never seen a state more ready to receive this car. And can we finally get 25 of these things on the road already?!?!?! HEY IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME!! I don’t care if you need to build them by hand BUILD THEM ALREADY !!!
@@tikitinatv1420you do know testing and stuff takes a while. You do know it's for safety right? I can build a car right now and sell it to you but it's not going to be good
IMO the only "bad news" would be if it turned out that the car *couldn't* be sufficiently cooled. If it can be, then that will reveal itself when the production version is revealed. I understand your concern as an investor about how they handled the opportunity to be on national TV, but at the end of the day, the proof will be in the pudding.
Great job with your video! As an investor, you will know how important image is, so just wanted to clarify; The cooling system to the motors were not connected due to the vehicle being sent overseas before they could be installed. I'm not sure if this thumbnail is helping the image of Aptera though. There's a perfectly reasonable reason for why the motors self-throttled for protection. Anywho, keep up the good work! Your videos are awesome 👍🏼
Well the best they can do is do it again and say it in tv as an investor too. Not hard do test 2 to prove it was the cooling system not on car tested. From down under let’s get this car going!
You are my favorite poster due to your honest and in-depth commentary. Please know that a huge number of people are pulling for you to be on a good mental health path!
Albeit being an investor, you pointed out the "fact" without any bias, not a lot of people can do that, especially those Wall Street analysts. Kudos to you... Sorry to hear your depression period, it is concerning for any human being who has to go through such period. Try to talk to someone or pick up a new interest/hobby, it might help......cheers!
What's the old saying. The brighter the picture darker the negative. Personally seeing what the failures are is a good thing and how they handle it is a good thing in my book.
Dude! I appreciate you very much! I'm sorry about hearing you are depressed.. I'm going through exactly the same thing now, and it is like my life is going away without me in it. I had a friend, years ago, from another continent, and we helped each other like this: if we don't go at 7am to the gym, 10 euro fine, buy something online and send it. It was pretty encouraging. I was a software engineer back then. If you want we can do it together, it will help us both 😊
Its a bit dodgy having moving coolant pipes, I'm not aware of any vehicle that has that, other than basic engine movement on flexible mounts. They definitely need the right design, otherwise its going to have reliability issues.
Knowing how tough work in small companies sometimes is, I don't blame them, but yeah this is a terrible look. Especially when this car should not have any cooling problems, likely even at light towing. Aptera has like 2m² cooling panel on it's belly and quite minimal heat output on average (
Just curious, you don’t blame them, then who do you blame for their car not working properly, not even being able to go up a modest incline? No one is to blame for anything?
@@steveperreira5850 obviously they are responsible, but I don't blame them for it because they genuinely might not have had any time to finish that model which is made for looks. I'm pretty sure that they had choice of getting whatever they have for this interview or not getting anything on time, and this could have been the only change for long time. It's better to get national attention with a flop than not get any. Tesla started with Top Gear basically faking multiple failures, and it didn't really slow them down. Having this interview done is much better than not, and any potential customer will see through the fact that this was some prototype issue.
Having the thermal management system not hooked up to the motors isn’t a big issue if the amount of cooling needed by the motors is minimal. Then they could get by without cooling under most circumstances.
This was unfortunate but explained by the cooling system not being properly hooked up from its trip to Europe. I too am investor, on the leader board. My immediate reaction was just awful, after some thinking, understanding that was an error in judgement, but forgiving it is not such a big deal. I too am disappointed but if you want to sell your shares to me let me know, I will take that risk. Congratulations on your free Aptera, I am sure it will be robust. Please get anti-depressants if you need them, take care of yourself, and look at the sunny side of life!
Fambro said he forgot for the whole 7 months. Not mentioned; nor was the claim they took them off to fudge the wind tunnel test and forgot to replace them. Take your pick of excuses, but all are pathetic.
Been following Aptera since their first iteration back in 2007ish. Back then they were going for a hybrid system with a small 3 cylinder ICE which would end up getting around 300mpg. Invested back then (nothing that would break me) but then the 2008 crash happened. Then the new iteration of Aptera comes around in 2019 after the owners were able to get their IP back. Better plan, EV only, improved tech, I invested again (still won't break me) because I want to see an EV that goes all out for efficiency. I'm not sweating this flub, but it is annoying that it happened.
I'm not going to condemn NBC for something Aptera absolutely should've seen coming. This was a huge opportunity for them and they fumbled the ball. Disclaimer: I also own shares in Aptera.
Having built a couple of EV's, I think this is not that big a deal - and an easy mistake to make. The car, by reducing power showed that even without cooling, the backup thermal management does work. I did include motor & battery cooling in my EV, but I've only seen it kick in a couple of times in the last year. 90% of the time, it would be fine without any, other than the thermal throttling. I'd bet it was just unfortunate that on this drive, it fell into the 10% that does require cooling. I'd treat this demonstration as a positive - it shows that it has secondary thermal management and that it works.
The interview came about pretty quickly. Like Gamma off the boat and straight to the interview. Of course, I wish it didn't happen but I don't actually place a lot of weight on this mistake. If anything, I was relieved to know it wasn't a design issue. Just a gamma and circumstance issue. Plenty more opportunities to impress.
sorry to hear that you had been going through a rough time over the past two weeks. I have been down that road for10 years now. So I know the crucial importance of taking time out, when things ounts up on you. I'm happy to hear that you're feeling better again. Keep fighting, you are not alone.
I agree! But one thought. Aptera runs watching their expenditures. They are not billions of dollars in debt as are most competitors. They are not in the Red currently. So, to me, it is somewhat understandable that they are not as Polished as those deeply in debt projects. Yep, it was a goof. Now, they need to put out a video explaining what happened and drive it up some significant hills. How about Pikes Peak! Issue closed!
Something to consider, on set that car was probably driven up and down that hill muiltiple times before they shot it with the news caster. I think it over heated because it wasn't given enough time to cool down between shoots. If you haven't been on a set, most people don't understand what goes into something like this.
Sam, I am sorry to hear of your struggles, know that you are not alone. I appreciate your content. You do quality work. I hope life gets better for you.
Re: Depressions I think I have been there, but it was like 30-40 years ago. My personal life fell apart, I avoided people, but my work was the one thing that kept me functioning. All my energy was directed towards my work and it kept my thoughts away from the chaos in the rest of my life.
Good information all around. We need more competition in the EV space. I’m hoping Aptera thrives in the years to come. Stay strong Man! Take good care of yourself.
Im an investor and reservation holder as well and I'm also concerned about the overheating issue. One thing that helped me is Brian's interview of Chris Anthony at the Tesla Takeover (My Tesla Weekend channel), Chris mentioned that they will have a production ready vehicle by the end of the year but they are going to spend six months validating it before they start scale production. Sounds like a good plan to me to make sure the vehicle performes good.
They could just make their wheel converters bigger to handle electrical load heating. Motors getting cooling helps the whole system and ends up drawing less power then without a cooling system, because hot wires draw more power and motors because of the magnetic field does get hotter.
I'm sorry to say that this is just not commercially viable and I feel bad for you guys that invested in Aptera... 40miles/day of solar charge is for ideal conditions, during the summer period, on a sunny day, and only if you keep your car completely unshaded for the entire day. Realistically, you will get an average 5-10 miles of range per day in the California region. And other regions, e.g. Europe, would see this range almost cut in half. I work in the solar industry so I am all for solar. But there are good use cases for solar energy and bad ones. This is a perfect example of a bad one.
Mate, your videos contain excellent analysis and it's conveyed clearly--thanks fella! You should know that I and others who benefit from your channel's content are so grateful for you producing this. I hope you know this? It's so important to understand the difference it can make hearing your perspectives on an issue/topic and you should be proud of that. I do hope that all the viewers comments help your path back to feeling better?
They don't want too many pre-orders. You wouldn't want Metallica playing at your local dive bar. Too much press is bad press. And let's be honest, British television has a historical trend for shitting on EVs. Even Tesla was slandered on TopGear. It's television, not real facts. Chris knows this.
Motors in wheel sounds good on paper, as it reduces volume and mass of equipments and is in general a lot simpler. But, these will always be engineering challenge because of the range of motion and shocks they go through. Add to that an entire liquid cooling stuffs and it becomes a nightmare... I think it won't even be practical in the real world.
Not an investor but want to see them succeed. Hope they get it figured out. First time listening to the channel very good information, keep it up look forward to more great videos!
First let me say that I greatly appreciate the content and insight your videos deliver. It is awesome to have somebody who actually sees bias in the media so well pointing it out to the rest of us. As for the challenges, it can be rough but I believe in your strength to overcome this. Take whatever time you need. No worries, I would think most of us don't mind if you take a break every now and then.
Not sure what the use cases are for this vehicle. I would never ever drive one of these on any road or highway. The cost is way to high. Why pay $35k when you can just by a safer car …
Sam, you're a smart, heart breaker. You're young, and have everything going for yourself. Don't be hard on yourself, what seems like a huge issue now will be a non issue in the future. Hang in there buddy. I am 62, and I would be proud to have a son like you. Cheers from Canada.
Sam, I love your videos! Keep up the good work! Happy to hear that you are feeling better! Like others have said, you have a good talent for making videos... quality not quantity.
I saw somewhere recently that they have both skin cooling, AND a radiator under the front. Air comes in through the cowl at the bottom of the windshield, through the radiator and out the back.
There is a more conventional condenser for the AC system that can be brought into play for more cooling when the vehicle is stationary for charging or moving at slow speed, with less convection available to cool the belly pan. There is no fundamental issue with the cooling design.
Why would the latest version of a prototype not have a working thermal management system? That's like driving a prototype gas car with no radiator installed
Ad someone that understands production and also the points that is pressed for display or to see action and passing up the chance could mean no chance in the future. The mechanic of making changes and operations specially on electric vehicles is more in depth and it's not as simple as just connect a line and is all good. Lots of work and time goes into it and individuals that schedule display for the public missed major factors that might make it look set back when it isn't as bad as people want to make it out to be.
I'm not too stressed by the NBC fiasco. For starters, Aptera gets way more views on the internet than on mainstream TV which nobody watches any more anyway. Secondly, there is no such thing as bad publicity. This whole thermal throttling thing is a good conversation starter. If everybody understands that the Gamma prototype is a work in progress, and that there is a reason why this incident happened, and that the problem will be fixed before production starts, it's all good. Don't forget, in spite of the Cybertruck window smashing fiasco, Cybertruck went on to get over a million orders, and now it's about to go into full production, presumably with a window which wont smash so easily. Tesla's engineers will have figured out why it happened and installed a fix to make sure it doesn't happen again. Same with Aptera. Overall, the NBC segment was very positive, and it's kind of good that it's seen that the mainstream media is not giving Aptera a free ride, because nobody wants to feel that they are having the wool pulled over their eyes with new technology. There is enough anti-EV sentiment out there, and conspiracy theorists who want to tell you everything that is bad about EV's without considering the good side. So overall, a balanced exposure on NBC is actually a good thing.
I'm new to this, but it looks like they committed to the body shape first, and now they are having to design the core technology (drive train) around it. Based on the shape, I can see that cooling is problematic. On the plus side, it is beautiful and I really think there is a market for a two seater, efficient electric vehicle. If they can pull it off then they could sell enormous numbers.
Pretty sad they didn't put a production design cooling system in, especially considering gamma was supposed to be 90+% production ready. Here's hoping the belly pan works out first try or at least any retooling is minor/quick. Either way I'm happy to wait for the 600 mile version and hopefully they've worked the details out by then.

As an engineer , placing a radiator behind closeable louvres/scoop is the way. Cooling the electronics is number 2 priority. (1:safety)
Anything that is closable adds weight, reducing efficiency
Thanks.

The cooling system has been connected. Here is a video showing it going up a fairly steep hill in S CA. ruclips.net/video/FdZvUjobfl8/видео.html

Great comment all around! Thank you.
Corrected, but not proven. Snake oil.
Agree! As an invester as well. THAT was NOT a good promotional point on live TV. None the less, still looking forward to mine.
Thanks for the shoutout Sam! Glad to hear that you're feeling better brother.
The thermal system was probably hooked up for cooling the batteries at least, that's generally its main job.
While it stinks they didn’t hook it up, it’s better than the reason being that the cooling system was just not good enough. I’d rather a mistake be the cause than an inherent problem with the cooling system
You are on point. I too have followed Aptera from a 'gleam in their eye' to investing stage.

Dennis
Probably quite a ways off yet, unfortunately.

Come on!!! WTF
Additionally I am getting fairly tired of waiting. I keep hearing next year, next year, next year. Its fatiguing me.

First time watching your video, thanks for the Aptera content. Keep your head up and if you ever need to chat, you can bend my ear. 👂🏽
From down under let’s get this car going!

they didnt find the production-ready visual design for cooling tubes going from wheels into the body, yet
Take care of yourself. What you do here matters and we all appreciate it.
we got many down-hills here in norway , should be a perfect match
Its a bit dodgy having moving coolant pipes, I'm not aware of any vehicle that has that, other than basic engine movement on flexible mounts. They definitely need the right design, otherwise its going to have reliability issues.
that's a really good point, I'm going to look into their coolant lines more
Knowing how tough work in small companies sometimes is, I don't blame them, but yeah this is a terrible look.
First time viewer. Well done! I’m a subscriber now. As an investor my concern is the skin cooling has yet to be worked out.
Having the thermal management system not hooked up to the motors isn’t a big issue if the amount of cooling needed by the motors is minimal. Then they could get by without cooling under most circumstances.
Aptera is not a legitimate company and is nothing more than a fraudulent vaporware investment scam
Both breakdowns planned? Sweat on that.
Exactly.

Totally agreed and be well!
Something to consider, on set that car was probably driven up and down that hill muiltiple times before they shot it with the news caster. I think it over heated because it wasn't given enough time to cool down between shoots. If you haven't been on a set, most people don't understand what goes into something like this.

Damn it guys!! Totally agree. They had a chance to show off.

Negative of skin cooking, you can force air over it at stops. Your going to risk having issues at slow speeds or stops in hot weather.
The AC system and fans are brought into play when the convection cooling is insufficient. The design accounts for this issue.
Hey Sam, you're awesome and I get a lot of enjoyment and information from your videos. Thank you.
Thanks for posting this video and analysis of Aptera's failure to shine on main stream media.

Sam, you're a smart, heart breaker. You're young, and have everything going for yourself. Don't be hard on yourself, what seems like a huge issue now will be a non issue in the future. Hang in there buddy. I am 62, and I would be proud to have a son like you. Cheers from Canada.
thank you Pete, that means a lot to hear
Helpful comments thank you
Ad someone that understands production and also the points that is pressed for display or to see action and passing up the chance could mean no chance in the future. The mechanic of making changes and operations specially on electric vehicles is more in depth and it's not as simple as just connect a line and is all good. Lots of work and time goes into it and individuals that schedule display for the public missed major factors that might make it look set back when it isn't as bad as people want to make it out to be.
Aptera is nothing more than a fraudulent vaporware investment scam
I hope Aptera make it! 🤞
Sorry to hear Sam. Hope you pull through.. Keep up the good work
I'm not too stressed by the NBC fiasco.
Your video quality is waaaay up! I really like the iPad split screen work. Take as much time as you need, dude!
thank you so much!
Should have test driven it before NBC segment to prevent surprises.
