Thanks for making and sharing this, I’m doing the same job tomorrow :-) I’ve seen others cover this too but usually not so clearly and concisely. Can you post the torque specs for the bolts and nuts? Did you use new pinch nuts or bolts? BMW recommends it but I’m unsure how important that may actually be. Was there a functional issue with steering/handling that prompted this job, of just the torn boots? I’m curious if you had a strong preference for a Febi mount rather than OEM Sachs. I bought Sachs mounts and Febi bump stops based on pricing and guaranteed fit for the mounts. So glad you showed that the mounts should spin freely once assembled, I’m used to needing to get the orientation just exactly right for replacing mounts on Honda struts.
glad to help , im afraid I couldn't find the torque specs, I reused all the bolts.. just the torn boots propted the replacement, just price really & the FEBI bits are decent quality 👍
Did this job this weekend thanks to your vid. However I ended up with another big problem. On the left side 2 bolts of the top mount sheared. I'm in Leicestershire. Can you recommend someone that can take them out or retap? I can put the car on platform if needed
I’ve done it that way on Honda and Cadillac struts at times, it definitely can be tricky depending on clearances. Ratcheting wrenches are a lifesaver in those circumstances, but they can get trapped by the mounts as things compress, so 2 ratcheting wrenches of the same size may be needed. That method is physically exhausting in my experience, but it can work sometimes. A second set of spring compressors can also help, but makes things more precarious.
An excellently produced video thanks, cannot find the torque settings though?
Nice....Excellent..

Arr no that’s a Bugga! I’m not sure of anyone it your area tbh mate
Does anyone have the torque settings?
why not fit spring clamps on other way ,threads pointing down ,no issues getting spring off
You cant really get the ratchet on it very well once you start compressing it , not saying it can’t be done
