The biggest thing ive taken from your videos is that a lot of a weight loss journey is also a mental health journey. I had to realise that the problem was not just a physical one. Ive since lost nearly 4 and a half stone. I feel like the biggest problem with other methods of weight loss likw surgery etc they are very much only physically fixing you or restricting you but the issues often run so much deeper x

100% I “tried” to lose weight many times but nothing really worked for me long term, until I fixed what was going on in my head and the reasons why I was overweight. Before fixing that and truly being ready I just constantly self sabotaged. When I was truly ready, it was hard, but manageable and it has completely been a lifestyle change for me.

I literally never thought of the weight being a symptom and not the main pathology to be treated until coming across Carla. It’s been truly life changing. Carla if you see this, I’m a 33 year old medic in the US and you have helped me feel empowered to fix my shit so I don’t give it to the next generation ❤

“Shoving food down yourself is a form of self harm.” That is exactly how I feel when I binge. I have these feelings of absolute loathing and hatred towards myself. Some people cut, I binge. More proof that weight loss really is a mental health journey!

To the person with the injured foot: just wanted to say I feel you! I was dealing with plantar fasciitis for awhile and it suuuucked. I went from long, long walks to hardly being able to move.
A few things that helped me were 1) Succumbing to rest. This sounds counterintuitive, but allowed me the space to reflect on why I needed to be in stasis at this time and what I wasn’t noticing emotionally by needing to be in constant motion, 2) Getting professionally fitted for new sneakers, and 3) Using a stationary bike at the gym, where I could relieve the pressure from my feet while building up endurance and leg strength.
Another thing that some people might see as flaky but helps me a lot is to look up “spiritual meaning of ____ pain” and see what has been written online about the emotional information conveyed by different parts of the body. That way, I get some guidance on where to direct my attention with regard to the subconscious pain I’ve been ignoring.
    Best of luck! ❤❤

Louise Hay has a great book called, “You Can Heal Your Life” and has extensive lists on the meaning of _____ pain/symptom and the affirmation to help retrain your mind and body around it. For example, I had terrible foot pain from plantar fasciitis and also HATED my toxic job environment but felt stuck there and afraid to quit, plus my dear aunt Joy had died unexpectedly. I was in all kinds of physical and emotional pain I looked up the symptoms and the meaning she gave was “fear of stepping into the future”. The affirmation to help heal this was “I move into the future with Joy”. Aunt Joy! It was pretty stunning.

I was not sure if I wanted to see this video, due to the subject on the video. But I had to.
I finally seems to found a way that work with my bingeeating, ADHD and that is calorielimit together with Ozempic. My brain doesnt think we are starwing (eat much more than at Bodyslim also) because I can feel fullness. For the first time in my life. Traumatherapy separatly also.
I dont think Ozempic should be used for ”some extra kilos”. But as you know, I have heavy obesitas and have struggle my whole adult life.
I think I do job with my headwork also. (If you understand what I mean)
I love your honesty what you have done if Ozempic was a thing when your still had your extra kilos.

Beautiful makeup and great topics, as always. I had long been triggered by fatphobic judgements I perceived by others but now I realize I could use some talk therapy or specific journaling to further work through a subtle but real defensive loop that had kept me self-sabotaging once I lost weight as if staying overweight was somehow a radical rebellion. It's time to end that cycle and I know you are right Carla, it's all about mindset. I've heard you say it so many times but today is the day that something clicked and I no longer am worried about the other details, like meal plans and exercise because in my case they had become an all-or--nothing unhealthy obsession (which is really another distraction loop). I think I just need to really process how the extra weight has (mostly) helped me feel safe in a world that can at times be overwhelming, and how I can find new healthier ways to be secure without the excess weight as a barrier. ❤ 💄 💋

Your videos have really helped me on my weight loss journey. I agree with you 100% on this video. I had to agree to change my thinking on what I ate. I almost never ate veggies, nor even fruit. I never thought I'd actually enjoy veggies, but now I do. It took experimentation, it took dedication, it took a willingness to change (because, obviously, if my eating habits had been good for me, I wouldn't have had join HMR and spend a little over a year losing 118 pounds). It also took being 100% honesty with myself and sticking to the plan with no cheating, gradually upping my exercise and now maintaining that as well as my heathy eating habits. Without building new habits, how can one be successful? So many have gained the weight back after their surgeries and I think it is because they didn't learn new habits. Although I did it through a different plan than Bodyslims, I totally respect and admire Bodyslims as being a successful program. Now that I'm in maintenance, maybe I should take a class on putting on make-up and which colors are good for me. :) 💄💄

My Mum and Grandmother always said 'What's for you won't pass you by', which is cold comfort sometimes when you've had a disappointmet, when you get rejected from something you REALLY wanted. (Don't get me started on the rejection sensitivity) But as you said 'know your worth'. You're putting yourself out there, not waiting for it to knock on your door, so something will come along, it will pay you what you're worth and it'll be better than this one gone by. You'll be able to look back and be glad this one got away because you'll have will be so much better. And yes, financial stability is lovely, but you're worth the wait. xxx

I tried Oz for 4 weeks. Lost 2 kg. Probably because I wasn’t able to workout post op. Stopped because of the side effects: fatigue, bad constipation, acne. I didn’t enjoy the Ozempic experience. I started LCHF with IF after I quit Ozempic and I lost 12 kg within 3 months hitting my goal weight and stuck to LCHF with IF now per the last half a year. Lots of energy and peace with food.

As someone with type 2, I fully encourage anyone who is obese and on the verge of becoming diabetic, to hopefully mitigate that by any means necessary. If Ozempic helps them do that, I applaud the effort. I had gastric bypass two months ago, because it was what was right for me after much soul searching and most of my adult life obese. In Canada we have to go take classes and have many meetings with therapists and dieticians before we quality for surgery. It took three years for me from start to finish, and I'm down 50 lbs since surgery. I have hope again. That hope is what pushes people forward, no matter how they choose to lose the weight. If they keep that hope for the future alive within them, they can accomplish anything. I don't judge anyone for how they get there, just as long as they get there.

There is a real danger in starting to use Ozempic: if you regain the weight you lost after you stop taking it's very likely you'll lose more muscle mass as you're dropping weight than you put back on once you go off it. You'll then be less healthy than you were when previously at that weight.
I started going to the gym in an effort to prevent that once I started on Ozempic. I also worked hard on developing dietary patterns I could use to avoid regaining weight after coming off Ozempic.
I think this would apply equally whatever method someone chooses to loose weight.

I am on ozempic and it's saving me. But I am also following by multiple professionals including a therapist. we did 4 years of therapy before I was considered ready to start losing weight, and I did many nutrition courses, eating disorder treatments etc... It's very important to tackle this from all point's of views. Ozempic is just a part, the part that allows me to listen to myself without having to count calories which actually triggered binges.
If you are doing ozempic without all the other stuff, you may lose weight at the beginning but you will not maintain. Good luck all!

Great video Carla! I hope you don't mind me saying, but the only thing I would urge people to get more info on is the nutritional tip regarding having fruit before something sweet. This is adding sugar to sugar and will cause a high glucose spike in the blood which should be avoided or reduced by eating, for example, nuts and or Greek yoghurt with cake instead. :)
