From a person who actually owns an Alexander Arms 50 Beowulf and not these cheap knockoffs. The recoil is there but it's just as manageable as a 308. It's not as bad as people may think.

I may not be the OP but in my opinion I absolutely love 50 Beowulf, ammo price is expensive but well worth the price. You get such a large amount of ammo variety in grain weight and types. Hard to choose but my favorite is some 300gr FTX rounds. It will drop the largest game in North America and can cut through thick brush with ease. I say though it's best used in hunting applications rather than self defense due to over penetration (maybe ARX rounds would work better for self defense since they do make them for 50 beo)
To each their own though. Finally it's a 50 cal in an ar15 platform, and if your thinking it buying a 50 cal of any kind and your having second thoughts about practicality. 50 beo will make you feel better due to its better hunting applications and it's able to be stabilized better than something like 50 AE or 500 S&W. So you can actually use it more other

Standard 30 rounders hold 10 rounds of .50 beowulf but the pro mag rollermag 40 rounders hold 14 rounds of .50 beowulf and feed just fine for me !

​@@kasinooo4932that mag only holds 10 rounds and depends if its wilderness defense absolutely, you can take out the largest game in North America with something like that. Normal self defense is a bit of a stretch, maybe if you used the special 200gr ARX rounds instead of hp since even with hp rounds that cal still cut through walls with ease before stopping. It cannot cut through thick steel and hard steel body armor or even ar500 steel plates. But chances are whatever your shooting at wont get up just due to the shear impact being over 2000 foot pounds of energy. Wouldn't really recommend for normal self defense but if you really want it, get one in a pistol configuration. A 10.5 barrel like the one in the video will be perfect as a truck gun, and use some ARX instead of hp rounds with it just to be safe.
