    It was me who asked about the Winterwood :), Thank you for the extra information, I’m an absolute beginner to glazing , and just bought a kiln which gets wired in next week. so all information is so helpful. I love your northern lights glaze. I’m in australia so I might have to do a version try of your combination. Hope it looks somewhat similar to yours , I’ll have to buy you a coffee for that since I can’t buy a mug :). And you didn’t look awkward at all ❤️

    Another great kiln opening along with the things that didn't work well. It's good to share those too. Well said about the pottery community. I find the same thing. Pottery is not my main income but more a hobby since retirement, where I sell my creations at local summer and holiday markets. There are other potters as the same markets and each of us have different stuff. Thanks again for sharing.

    Thanks Kim for sharing. I’m going to rewatch and write down your directions. Your a joy . I also had some runners in my last kiln opening but I’m going to chock it up to learning a new glaze. HIIII Kim!!! I love the mug you don't like! Just needs a little grinding and maybe a raised cookie incase the glaze drips off next time. So strange that you had some melt downs with my combos...sorry 😬...you did exactly what i did, with the exception that I have the carved texture! Anyhoo..I hope you try it again because it will look STUNNING on your curvy mugs! Maybe go higher up with the stagger bcuz of no horizontal breaks... I totally agree with you, this community is so very supportive and I love learning from you and others...btw you are NOT awkward! Love watching you and THANK YOU for sharing your pottery process! 😘

    Hi Kim, love your crazy peacock mug i think maybe less sandstone or higher up. But its a gorgeous combo! Love the pink pumpkins too and that first mug with blue hydrangea was so pretty! Great opening 👏

  • @catinsley7799
    @catinsley7799 18 дней назад

    OH, and, I had just watched Sara's pumpkin video. OMG don't I want to tackle THAT! You nailed the stem, and maybe 2 generous coats of Fuzzy Peach may fix it all. And eliminate Sunrise? But what created all of that white at the bottom????? You just never know with the glaze gods. Lookinh forward to your future videos! Hugs, cat

    For the northern Lights, did you paint bands of seaweed over the obsidian?

    • @undsethpottery
      @undsethpottery  Месяц назад

      Yes, I did 3 bands of seaweed each layer slightly different!

  • @micheledickey4066
    @micheledickey4066 Месяц назад

    I love the pink ones and the one you said was a fail was gorgeous! If you put a lighter color on the bottom I think it would look amazing. Thats really odd that it did run because the sandstone is a matte. I finally got my engobe pieces bisqued and noticed they feel very rough. I used a 1500 grit sanding pad on the engobes and it worked perfectly and they feel great now.

    • @undsethpottery

      @@undsethpottery Thanks! I wash off all of my bisque and then lay it on towels in the kitchen with a fan on it to dry and I also sand anything that needs it so I thought I’d try to sand the engine and it worked really well. I was so happily surprised! I have the sanding sponges from Diamond core but that’s ONLY because they had a 2 for one sale and I bought the bats and for the sponges for free. Lol

    For your northern lights glaze - how do you get so much blue to show up? When I do it three times obsidian, three times seaweed, the seaweed almost disappears into the black. I tried to put it on heavy. Is that the only hint? Heavy application?

    • @RedEftDesigns
      @RedEftDesigns Месяц назад +1

      I'm not the artist but wanted to say probably don't do 3 layers of obsidian as it eats up glazes. Just do 2 thin coats and try the northern light colors over that x3 each.

    Olá Kim! Sou brasileira e aluna de uma Cerâmica chamada Faferia em Florianópolis , no Sul do Brasil. Eu adorei suas peças e sua esmaltação primorosa. Eu tenho comprado alguns esmaltes da Amaco e Mayco em uma loja que trabalha com esmaltes importados. O mais difícil para mim na Esmaltação é a combinação de Esmaltes . Se você pudesse me ajudar um pouco com sua experiência eu ficaria muito grata. Se não for muito trabalhoso você poderia me escrever algumas das suas combinações de esmaltes que você apresentou neste vídeo? Mesmo as mais simples para você seriam de grande ajuda para mim. Aquelas peças que você usou o Obsidian estão lindas. E algumas com os esmaltes mais recentes que logo terei acesso. Não quero tomar seu precioso tempo mas realmente seu trabalho me encantou. Estou com muitas peças para esmaltar e tenho receio de estragá-las fazendo combinações inadequadas. Afirmo que meu interesse não é comercial pois ainda não vendo minhas peças. O interesse é somente didático. Atenciosamente, Maria Léa Campos. PS: eu entendo bem o inglês porém escrevi em Português pois é mais fácil escrever na minha língua e o You Tube apresenta a opção de tradução para o Inglês. Muito Obrigada!
