I am a beginner potter and I learned to dip glaze in a studio with in-house glazes. And then moved to my own studio, did not have time to test glazes so I bought amaco and mayco glazes and brushed them on… I absolutely hate brushing (takes more time, need to put 3 thick layers to be sure to get decent results and even then ). Started reading on how to dip glaze with store bought glazes. Some say you can’t do it, some dilute it and then BAM 🎉, you video comes up. No worries, just use it straight from the jar. THANK YOU !!!! And your wife 😊
I’ve following for a year now and I love your shows. You helped me build confidence when I started up last year by watching your beginner classes. I have always dreaded glazing but pods like yours have opened up so many opportunities to be curious.
I agree the brushed version is equally if not more beautiful. Shows off the facets better at least on camera. One question: how many coats were brushed on?
just gorgeous omg I love it !! and thank you so much for reviewing it and showing your expertise…. Can you advise as to what white bodies clay to use as I’m new to pottery and the type of clay and the glazes that can be used together because of the firing temp is mind blowing !!!! 🤯
"Dirty potters" is your special handshake with all of us! Our pet name ... I like it. Ohhhh, ohhhhh such a versatile glaze. Love the blue on iron clay, love the sheen when just brushed on, and combined 🥳 big bonus! Refires ... maybe refire your 'color that shall not be named' to see if more of the combo colors emerge? Brush some spots on ... dip some spots ... ❤ experiments. Thank you and appreciate Amaco's generosity.
Dante, when you pour the glaze are you only doing one coat? Apologies if you get asked this all the time, I’m new! Thank you for this, can’t wait to get this glaze!
How many brush on coats did you do? If it was only 1, of course dipping will look better since the jar says "apply 3 even coats." Also, what about the refires, did it help?
Someone complained about you calling us 'dirty potters'? Hell- I'm PROUD of being a Dirty Potter LOL They must be new and/ or have really misunderstood that it's a term of endearment. And no, not all of us who watch these glaze reviews use bottled glaze; I almost never have- I really enjoy your videos regardless of what they are 👍
Yes, those are crystals that should be stirred in very well before applying the glaze or you won't get the desired speckled result...desired as in Amaco's intention for the glaze...pretty results!
thank you for doing the poured vs brushed. Do you only do 1 x dipped? i hate brushing. i tried pouring 2-3x it ran sooo bad...clearly I did too much. and some Amaco PC are so thick. Do you dilute with distilled water or add gum?
Two things… 1. You best save that purple cup! 2. “A tinge blue” Thats more than a tinge, Thats gorgeous! Edit, okay I shouldn’t have paused the video after the tinge comment. 😂
Hahah. Call us dirty potters! PLEASE! Hahaha. That little bowl is a keeper for sure. It’s beautiful!!! I can not believe what this glaze did when you poured it on the cup, especially vs brushing. I just feel like pouring the glaze on makes somewhat of a mess considering you have to clean the bowl out trying to get every bit of it back in the jar every time. Especially when layering.
It's funny. I get dirty when I'm in the studio so why would you not call me a dirty potter. I am. Great glaze results. Give the purpley pot to one of us
Donte can you please use the Amaco flux glazes under the other glazes and not on top? Of course you can do both, but the manufacturer clearly mentioned that they work better under other glazes and not over them. I wish you had tried the Satin Oribe I’ve a fully dipped piece in the flux
A few thoughts: 1. Talk dirty potter to us anytime. 2. I'll never brush glazes on thanks to you. 3. Don't you dare destroy that gorgeous purple cup - send it to a new loving home. 4. Thank you for making me smile while learning.
hallo dirty potter! So, I know I am 8 months too late into the video, but, was wondering, what do you think would happen if you mixed some iron underglaze powder into the glaze, or brush on some iron underglaze on a white clay body and then poured over the River Birch? Would that completely spoil the glaze, or is there a chance you might get the fancy blue effect? TIA!
Just thinking here, why don't you add like an orange or yellow to the purple? Make it like a brown color, so you can use up that purple glaze that you hate so much. And do the same glaze on the one that you said you wanted to throw out, make it a little bit more brown, add more texture to the outside, keep the inside how it is. Then it'll be a cute little coconut.😅
As a random dude on the internet my vote is to: Sell the cup and you’ll never see it again and have $$$ Taste varies, what’s not for you may be another persons thing. 🤷♂️ Different strokes for different folks

nooooo, we love to be called dirty potters...have you ever seen a clean one? my grandchildren love that part of your videos
How on earth can you not be happy being gifted the opportunity to be called a dirty little potter 🤯😂
In love with that glaze it’s perfect it’s amazing!
I love the blue tinged red clay!
This flux is so beautiful! Thanks for testing it! I’m gonna go buy me some!
Wow, that glaze is amazing. Love the little purple dish. Thank you
Btw, I love the going in the kiln snippet with fire and electricity. 👏🏼👏🏼
Wow, it is really beautiful on white clay!
Love this one! I love the purple too!!!

I absolutely love this. I’m going to dip dark clay in River Birch! I also absolutely love your creativity and enthusiasm! Thank you for your videos !!
Unpopular opinion, I prefer the brushed version. The organic shape remains the star of the show, and then you also have a gorgeous glaze!
I agree the brushed version is equally if not more beautiful. Shows off the facets better at least on camera. One question: how many coats were brushed on?
these came out beautifully Donte!
Loving this River Birch🎉🎉🎉
i am a big big big pc 22 blue stone stan happy to see other people like it lol love the videos they have helped me greatly on my pottery journey
Thank you Amaco.
…….. awesome glaze on red clay, like it brushed or dipped, thanks for sharing! Cheers!
It's great you give it to someone starting pottery
I love this glaze (poured, not brushed), just ordered from Glaze Queen!!! Thank you
Big win
Its beautiful!! Save it❤
Sooo I'm buying River Birch 😂 also the purple cup is gorgeous!
I love that you say Hello Dirty Potters!😂 you’re hysterical.
just gorgeous omg I love it !! and thank you so much for reviewing it and showing your expertise…. Can you advise as to what white bodies clay to use as I’m new to pottery and the type of clay and the glazes that can be used together because of the firing temp is mind blowing !!!! 🤯
Thanks for the review. I stayed away from river birch because I am not a brown fan! Ordering.
1. I adore being addressed as "Dirty potters"! It’s my favorite thing!
2. If you’re going to toss that beautiful little purple bowl, I’ll take it!
I found and followed you because of "Hello You Dirty Potters." Please don't change that.
Thank you excellent review. Honey flux under your purple glaze would probably also look good.
"Dirty potters" is your special handshake with all of us! Our pet name ... I like it.

I’m so happy you did this video next because I just order a bottle of river birch yesterday! How did you know!!?!
I love that blue!! Also keep the plum send it to me so it don't have to look at it anymore 😊
Dante, when you pour the glaze are you only doing one coat? Apologies if you get asked this all the time, I’m new! Thank you for this, can’t wait to get this glaze!

Keep it comming. I'm a dirty potter. Btw, are there clean potters out there?
I love the second with most of the June berry purple it reminds me of a dragon fruit
Yes, those are crystals that should be stirred in very well before applying the glaze or you won't get the desired speckled result...desired as in Amaco's intention for the glaze...pretty results!
I love the purple. ❤
The dragon scale mug can go, tho. 😂

dipping is equivalent to 2-3 brush coats. only dip once! ❤️
Two things…
1. You best save that purple cup!

Like legit if I weren't dealing with apartment bs, i would fling copious money for that purple piece, however i can see where you're coming from.
We’ll ALWAYS be DIRTY POTTERS!!!😂
Earth--- For heaven's sake, stay who you are--- Why would anyone ever bow to the 'feelings' flock?
It's funny. I get dirty when I'm in the studio so why would you not call me a dirty potter. I am.
Great glaze results. Give the purpley pot to one of us
The purple one looks like a red onion. I like it. I don’t like purple either but… it’s kinda cute
I am a dirty potter!!
Would the brushed on pots be just like the poured on pots if you did more coats?
I'm kinda new to the channel. That glaze is great!! Love your little comments during the video. What cone do you usually fire to??
Usually whatever the glaze says to fire
Also your videos are awesome and we love being called dirty potters!
And you better not toss that purple cup!!
Nooo, please save it. I do agree that the first one was better, however the second one is beautiful too.
Love river birch! You need heavier brushed coats, that’s all.
I have a red groggy clay I use. How would river birch look on top 1/2 and then saturation gold banded underneath. Cone 5? Electric
If you added titanium dioxide to June's purple, maybe it will become a more pinkish opaque glaze.
Can you refine the purple one with the the river flux all over? I think it would give you a result that you like.
Save the purple cup!
Donte can you please use the Amaco flux glazes under the other glazes and not on top? Of course you can do both, but the manufacturer clearly mentioned that they work better under other glazes and not over them. I wish you had tried the Satin Oribe I’ve a fully dipped piece in the flux
Maybe ask any of your patreon ppls if they want the june perry purple bowl? Win win, I'd say.
I clay not only on me but I have a wad of slip in my hair, only made three cylinders this morning and yes I am DIRTY!
A few thoughts: 1. Talk dirty potter to us anytime. 2. I'll never brush glazes on thanks to you. 3. Don't you dare destroy that gorgeous purple cup - send it to a new loving home. 4. Thank you for making me smile while learning.

Please put the purple cup in the shop!
I agree, my pottery is always better when my glaze is, poured on. Saves a ton of time.
Save the bowl! 😂
Send me that purple bowl!,
Just thinking here, why don't you add like an orange or yellow to the purple? Make it like a brown color, so you can use up that purple glaze that you hate so much. Keep the purple one
Don't ditch the purple 💜. Keep it or send it to me:) infact, you can send me the 5 gallons bucket, I like it.
It looks very similar to Mayco’s Winterwood imo. On the video it looks whiter than Winterwood though. Hmmmmm………test worthy? 🤓
Dante we didn’t see the refire
Well tell them we are Pot Dealers. 😅😅😅
Give the purple away
Out definition of "tinge" is a bit different.
Well Most women love purple!
As a random dude on the internet my vote is to: Sell the cup and you’ll never see it again and have $$$
Taste varies, what’s not for you may be another persons thing. 🤷♂️ Different strokes for different folks
To heck with him, we ARE dirty potters! There is no such thing as clean potters!
We ARE dirty potters... some of us are just dirtier than others.
Truuuuue
