I've done the decoupage fabric technique on wood, but not a dresser.....it was a wood bunny Decoration lol.....turned out beautiful. I love your channel!!!
I've only seen this done inside the drawers instead of contact paper. I loved the material on the top 2 drawers but I think the wide stripe was way too bold to use with the top 2. Maybe a gingham or other small print would have been a better balance. Just my taste. Other than that the barn red complimented the refurbished oak beautifully and would be something I would try.
Love, love, love this piece! I didn’t like the fabric on the last drawer but you nailed the other two! Love the technique and I thought it looked like something I could attempt, lol!
LOVE LOVE THIS! I once did this on a particle board dresser. But I put quilt batting behind mine & just glued the quilt batting & fabric on. I never used a shellac on it & it lasted for years & years. It was pieces of fabric that matched the quilt on my daughter's bed. The dresser was a crappy ugly thing, so it was a great way to refresh it & make it last a little longer. With a cute update.
@@DesertDIY I understand, but maybe you could have gone with a small red/white gingham instead? Then you'd get your contrast as the stipes in the bottom brawer are too large of a print compared to the other two prints you chose.
Love this piece! Thanks for the tips on veneer and showing how easy it is to removed and the odds that something usable is beneath it. First time I have seen fabric decoupage and it's brilliant.
Oh my gawsh!!! Thank you for sharing this flip. I have a beautiful Antique buffet in my garage w/ damaged veneer. I thought I wouldn't be able to save it. THANK YOU! I'm so encouraged 💚
I love your honesty and integrity about product recommendations, and the transparency with which you share them with your viewers. As always, so enjoy your videos, and this piece turned out so beautifully, although I agree with others who weren't thrilled with the bottom drawer fabric print. Thanks for posting! :)
Oh wow! Love the combination of dark wood, that red, and the decoupaged fabric drawers. Well the ones on the first two drawers anyway; they went so well together! I have to try this!
Okay...What I liked about ur finished vision 4 this project: I liked all the 'Dixie Belle' colors /& products...& that u gave helpful tips & pertinent reviews.. I liked the burnished gold-leaf on drawer- pulls, liked the paisley fabric (thought it lent elegance 2 the make-over & somehow drew the eye 2 the dark wood...making it look rich & Old World). I appreciate the advice especially as 2 tools, plus the 'fearless' matter-of-fact way u get things done. Thanks so much.🙂
This looked amazing compared to how it started out. Not 100% sure the three different prints do it for me, I think I’m a little OCD for it. For me I could deal with two of the patterns with maybe drawer one and three the same with the middle a different pattern. But that’s just me and my OCD issues. Even with that it’s still a really nice piece.
You did a great job and I love the idea of decoupage fabric on the drawers but think I would have chosen just one of the fabrics instead of 3 different ones. Great tips on using the dixie belle products.
Wonderful job! Very creative! I would personally repeat the fabric from the top drawer on the bottom one, but that's just my opinion of course. Great video!
Everything I’ve watched you do,have really looks nice, very nice colors. I’ve been wanting one of those Cabinets that fold all up. I love it and it just seems like the answer to needing space for so much stuff and Doesn’t take as much room. These things you have just done is so pretty, I know how you must make a lot of people happy. God Bless You, Congratulations on your new precious
This is FABULOUS! ALL the fabrics coordinate beautifully-I don't know why some people feel the need to ay otherwise. Exceptional piece! You have given me inspiration for an older veneered piece I have, Thank you!
It's so warm and cozy looking!! I love the thin then bold stripe next to the classic/vintage fabric..they all set each other off beautifully. Great job. It's lovely.
Oh my.....how beautiful is that ! Thanks for the tips on removing veneer ! I love that red tone to used and fabric on drawers !!! Love it ! Love how you step outside the normal and go for it ! Another GREAT PIECE !!!
WHY ISN’T THERE A “LOVE” BUTTON??!! I freaking LOVE this flip! I have a dresser with a veneer top that is warped & peeling in spots & I knew I was going to redo it, and now I think I’ll have to decoupage fabric over the drawer fronts. 😍 The piece even has doors on the top that open up to reveal three drawers, with a 4th at the bottom, uncovered by the doors. I *was* thinking of a silver & mirrored finish before, but you just gave me great inspiration! 🥰
Enjoy your videos but I think the the broad stripe material on the bottom drawer was too bold and ruined the effect. Even so, you are very clever and the red was great with the wood and it was good to learn the technique of attaching material to wood.
Fabulous, such a beautiful piece made even better. That barn red is a great choice here, lifted by the textiles on the front. Always good to challenge ourselves, super job 🥰
I love the dresser all except the bottom fabric that was too bright and modern with the other two.I have a old dresser and have been trying to find some ideas what to do with it and I believe I will try you technique very good Thank you for sharing!!!!
How beautiful! When you said that you were going to decoupage fabric on the drawers, I'm thinking No, No, No! Then you showed the reveal and I was flabbergasted. 💕💕💕
Thanks Mary! It's such a great technique for situations where you have an ugly surface to cover. This surface wasn't that ugly but I thought this dresser would look great with it
Dixie mud is great, learned a tip from kacha, once you open it put in fridge. I checked mine and it was growing some stuff in it cuz i didnt do that. Awesome project
Oh, that happened to me once. At art school, I bought a big tub of gesso at the school shop and used it once. Next time I opened it, ugh, mould growing on the top!😨 Luckily they took it back and refunded the cost because it was expensive and poor students can't afford to waste anything. I'm allergic to moulds so that was a nasty surprise. 😛
Hi Cory! I have heard of decoupaging fabric, but have never seen it done. Love the fabric you chose. This dresser is fabulous! No one would be able to tell it is the same dresser. It looks so happy now. I am loving the red these days, and wondering if it’s making a comeback. Another one of your gorgeous makeovers. As always, thank you so much for sharing with us dear one. 🥰
WOW! I love how this turned out! Beautiful. I do really like Dixie Belle products and the idea of decoupaging fabric onto flat drawer fronts is supremely excellent! Thanks for sharing.
You are so amazing! Every time you redo a piece I say oh this is my favorite! Then you out do yourself with another. I'll just say I always love your work!
I love the technique, and the information. Not crazy about the colors and the different color pulls/knobs, but that's strictly a personal taste. Great job!
Thank you so much for showing this. I haven't seen this technique before and I have a round dining table we've had for at least 30 years and I can definitely use this information 😊 I love the table and now it's going to be beautiful again. Thanks again and Blessings to you and yours 💕🙏
I have a great antique Hepplewhite style dresser with a bowed front that needs some magic TLC. The dresser was used for a few too many years in a college student rented farmhouse (now our home), and then a decade or so lanquishing in a barn (now our barn). Some of the veneer is MIA, but the dresser is structurally very sound, with great storage space, and those wonderful slightly bowed front drawers with dovetail joints❣ I am eagerly looking forward to see what you do with yours!!! I also have a china cabinet my husband built for me almost 40 years ago that suffered severe water damage on the base from a nightmare waterheater disaster; so I welcome any and all ideas for saving special pieces and giving them a new life!!!
Both of those pieces sound like they are amazing pieces just waiting for some tlc! This one had pretty bad water damage so hopefully it will inspire you for your pieces!
Came out beautiful. You are quite the artist. I use Zinser BIN Shellac based primer in white (can be tinted) or gray (hard to find) on my sanded wood pieces to prevent bleed through. It is a fantastic product. One step with roller or brush. I have decoupaged with clear coats before using tissue paper, napkins and fabric. A very good way to make sure they adhere, is brush on clear coat, let it get tacky, lay down your material and iron it down with hottest iron setting USING THE NO STEAM SETTING, then apply topcoat to protect. I like Dixie Belle chalk mineral paints as well because of the great coverage and consistency of it plus the 0 VOC quality, but if you can work outside, most paints with VOCs won't cause any harm. Some of my friends who have looked into using the Dixie Belle paints complain about the high cost of it. I agree it is costly but I am not on a fixed income like my friends.
Wow what great info! I have a beautiful ornate bedroom suite from the 1930's that was stored and damaged from a leak while in storage. Have been trying to decide how to handle it. I will take the veneer top off of a small piece and see how the wood is under it. And will use your stain tip to spruce up the rest.
Very informative and a very good job. Having said that, I am with others who were not as fond of the 3 different patterns on the drawers. I personally would have rather seen the drawers done in all the same fabric. At the very least maybe the paisley and the small stripe together for less of a "too busy" look. I want to do a table and use marine varnish.

No, never. But I'm gonna try. Wonderful tutorial, thnk you so much!
I love love love it all except the circus tent fabric on the bottom drawer. Everything else is fabulous in my opinion❤️❤️❤️
Exactly. The loud wide stripes just don't work with the pinstripes and the boho pattern. Otherwise it's very nice!
Yes it would have been better to repeat the thinner striped cloth. But everything else was spot on. :)
Totally agree!!!!
Have to agree. The bottom fabric doesn't work with the other two.
Love, love, love this piece! I didn’t like the fabric on the last drawer but you nailed the other two! Love the technique and I thought it looked like something I could attempt, lol!
You can definitely do it! I am someone who enjoys a lot of contrast. For me, visually, it wouldn't have been enough contrast without the bold print.
It’s beautiful!
LOVE LOVE THIS! I once did this on a particle board dresser. But I put quilt batting behind mine & just glued the quilt batting & fabric on. Love everything but that bright red on bottom drawer doesn't seem to match the other colors. Could be just the light. Man it is still beautiful!
Thank you Mary. I am someone who enjoys a lot of contrast. For me, visually, it wouldn't have been enough contrast without the bold print.
Yes, I think
It looks like a beach towel.
While impressive, not a fan.
@@DesertDIY I understand, but maybe you could have gone with a small red/white gingham instead? Then you'd get your contrast as the stipes in the bottom brawer are too large of a print compared to the other two prints you chose.

Thank you!!! If it's old, chances are there is good wood under a veneer. If there isn't, just decoupage some fabric on what's left! Ha!
Gorgeous! Very cottagecore! That's exactly what's in style for 2021!!! 💕🖌👍
I have never seen decoupaging fabrics like that. That is wonderful!!!

Throwing old furniture away is a real shame when you could do this, brilliant ❤️🇬🇧
Love it! Bottom drawer fabric is a lil bold and takes away from the others. Learning process. Over all it came out beautiful!🌺
Oh my gosh Cory! This was so fun to watch. Love the way your brain works girl!!!
you could do amazing stuff with this method.
Oh wow! Love the combination of dark wood, that red, and the decoupaged fabric drawers. Well the ones on the first two drawers anyway; they went so well together! I have to try this!

Turned out beautiful as usual when it comes to your transformations. Very inspirational.
Looks great, I think the cloth detracts from it's beauty.
Either stick with the timer or use only one cloth would be better.
You did such an amazing job!! This piece was in such rough shape before, and definitely deserved to be brought back to life!

whoa!!!. This really works. I thought you had finally went "around the bend", but this actually works.

Very informative and a very good job. Having said that, I am with others who were not as fond of the 3 different patterns on the drawers.
