Did you think this set was too far gone to be able to save and put together? Even I had my doubts! Let me know what you thought in the comments!
I think it turned out great.
I had faith in my furniture flipping guru! No doubt it would be fantastic.
Jo
All I saw was potential.
No doubts Cory :-) Thanks for sharing these projects!!
Oh, no. Few things are truly 'too far gone' especially for a DIY'er EXTROIDINAIRE such as YOURSELF!!!
Girl with three kids I am surprised you have time to diy! 😇
Haha, right?
I have rescued a similar table on the dumpster and never know what to do with it; I’m glad I see this video. Thank you for all you do for the children.
I love watching your transformations, especially knowing that the love you put into your work will fill a young adult's home. What a blessing. I would love to see the reaction or read comments of those who furnish they homes with your creations!
Excellent save on using a different table top, which I like better than the original tiled one. Another great job. 👍😊
I agree! Thanks Donna
I love the grey buffalo check fabric on the seats. I also like that you used the buffalo check color palette to paint the table and chairs. The liming wax was a great final touch. 👍
I love how you reuse and renovate old things, that's how it was when I was little in the 1950s, in England after the war. We all bought second hand and fixed stuff up to suit ourselves. When I was about 12 we bought a wardrobe and bookcase for my room and I painted them myself in yellow, so watching you is like old times to me and it's great that you do it for those who need them. 😊 Well done.👍👍👍
What a difficult time recovering from the war. In the U.S. it was a different experience since the war did not happen on our mainland other than the bombing of pearl harbor. I have always been very interested in the history of ww2 and the pieces of furniture that were made after the war were so celebratory and full of life. Thank you for sharing
@@DesertDIY 😊💞
I love this. The fabric is perfect. What a transformation. Bless you for helping these people.
Thank you Anna
That turned into a super cute dinette. I love your work and you remind me that there are other people in the world that need love too. Thanks for sharing!💕
I have a dining table with a ceramic tile top. I do not like it but can’t get rid of it because it belonged to my in-laws that I loved and miss so much. Now I have a way to love it and keep it or give to my daughter. Thank you for all the amazing ideas and very helpful tutorials. You are never boring!! Always inspiring!💕
I think you've inspired me to do this for young people in the system
That is so great! They will appreciate it!!!
The natural pattern of the table was so beautiful!!!
Cory that is So Beautiful! I like the 2nd top so much better. I wish there were 4 chairs because I think they could fit but I do love the mixing of chairs! Great job. You have a big heart and a great gift!
Thanks so much Lynn!
That looks soooo good. What a transformation, so clean and fresh!
Thank you! It DOES look so fresh and clean now. Especially compared to the MUNG it had on before.
🐼 Big Bear Hugs from a 67 yr old grandma in Kirby, Texas, USA 🐼......
Thank you
What a great transformation! AMAZING SAVE ON THE TABLE TOP! It is gorgeous! And yes, someone could stain that if wanted... I am shocked! Sanding and cleaning 👍
I think my husband could do my big table! He restores Pedal Tractors and is always using spray paint..... hummmm 🤔. I think he has the motion down after 30 years !!! LOL!
Nice, nice upcycle Cory! Another lucky young adult .
Wow that table and the chairs came out gorgeous! I wasn't sure about the color of the table when you first put the shellac on, but in that last picture it looked so much better! 👏💖😀🇨🇦
It's all a matter of lighting haha. Thank you
Aww. I’m a Mimi of three grandsons, 15, 13 and 4. I miss having that background noise! Lol. They are growing too fast. I enjoy hearing children playing and laughing in the backgrounds. I miss those days. Great video. 👍🏻
Awww I'm sorry you don't have little ones running around. Maybe there will be more little ones running around in the future
Beautiful dining set! Nothing is too far gone for you.
Aww thank you Maribel
I am inspired by what you are doing for the kids coming out of foster care!
I am going to see in our area if there is a way I can help. I am not confident enough in my skills at furniture recycling to SELL my pieces of roadside saves... at this point I have kept or given to my family everything that I have done. But I could DONATE TO A GOOD CAUSE!
I am actually excited at the idea of saving things from the landfill or roadside and I want to help people who are in need as well... this speaks to my heart!
I wish you well
God bless you
Tfs have a blessed day 💜🤗
Love hearing children in the background ❣
Aww thank you Sharon I'm so glad
Cory, I may not have attempted to redo this set, but I had no doubt that you would make it look beautiful. Thank you for sharing and helping me learn so many wonderful things. 💕
Thank you Beth. I'm working on another dining table right now that also looks like a total goner
Great job! Thank you for sharing your stories about the families you serve. ♥️🙏🏻
Thank you Rebecca
Another beautiful piece of art 👍🏽 Hubby’s right on time with new tools 🧰
I had this same table and did a really nice cerused affect. So I did hid the beautiful gain. After finishing the table I have seen it a hundred times. Lol. Thank you
It's already past 11pm where I live, and I was just getting to bed, I set my alarms and saw that Desert DIY posted again so I had to see what a brill idea you had this time. I love how it turned out, amazing transformation!
Thanks so much Emilia that makes me feel so special to hear
You are such a blessing to everyone! I love you videos.
Thank you Pamela
I loved how that set turned out! Sooo cute!
Love love love you! U make me want to do this for myself and other ppl as a side hustle. Please keep giving us these videos 🥰❤️
Thank you so much Dominique! I bet you would do great!
Another beautiful transformation! I love that grey! 😍😍
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! LOVE IT!!!!
What a neat set! That would probably sell for at least $400.00 in a store. Oh how blessed your recipients are! 🙂💖
Thank you so much Holly
Fabulous! That spray can adapter is excellent, thanks for the tip!
Thank you Rebecca
So, so good I love it. Such a brilliant idea 👍 to split up the set to share with other members 🙏🙏🙏🤟🤟🤟.
Fantastic work !
That was very sweet of your hubby, but I hope that new staple gun came with a box of candy or a piece of jewelry or maybe even some flowers.
That Spray can grip you used on your can of shellac can be found at Walmart and all of hardware stores as well.
Haha I'm not a jewelry type of gal. I'd much rather have a good cordless power tool or new cleaning tools etc. I bought my sprayer handle from an ace hardware store! Thanks so much
You do such beautiful work and for such a great cause. Thank you for what you do
A beautiful transformation for your cause. Thank you.
Thank you Ida
You do a great job. Plus you are so kind too. X bless you all xx
Thank you Karon

Another great job by Cory!!
Great job once again Cory, i bought a little hand held tool for spray cans finally, never knew about those until your channel, thanks for all your hard work for others and sharing your ideas.
Thanks so much. And isn't that little handle the best?
Such a good person! I appreciate your effort and time to helping others!
Thank you!
Awe Mom,kid sounds make your video's more enjoyable !
Before seeing your work I'd think half of these pieces should stay on the curb lol. I like how you used different colors for the tables and chairs and put some cute flowers with it 🙂
Thank you. Sometimes I have my doubts too lol
Yay for the new staple gun! :)
Its realllllly nice
Love the table
It turned out so pretty🤍 I am working on my headboard soon for our bedroom:) I bought it for $10 second hand :) great video 🤍
Yay I bet that will be a fun and rewarding project
Cory...you do such great work! So cute!!
Thanks so much Kim!
Awsome and beautiful at the same time. Great work
Thank you Marty!
You are amazing. I am trying to find a piece to refurbish. You have inspired me.
Thank you Vernice! You will have so much fun
I’m going to get a cleaning set for my drill too. It made short work on cleaning that table.
You will love it. It is also great for cleaning tile and carpet
Wow! That looks GREAT!!!
Thank you Beverly
Amazing as always!
Gorgeous!!!
Thank you my friend!
It looks very good
Beautiful as usual!!!
Thank you Amy
That looked great. Thanks for all the tips about shellac and yellowing, etc. As always, very inspirational video. I have found cheap upholstery fabric at Habitat for Humanity stores. Eight dollars for 10 yards of 60 inch wide fabric.
Thats so cool! I'm actually making it a goal of mine to try and find my fabric second hand if possible, too!
@@DesertDIY any upholsterers in your area? They may donate their remnants to you if you let them know the project's for charity. I bought 2 pair of lined drapes at Goodwill and hung 1pr and made throw pillows and a seat cover for the vanity chair with the other. Cotton canvas drop cloth material is cheap and looks cute stenciled or plain.
Lovely!
Thank you
The dining set looks amazing. Ann from Va.
Thank you Ann
have you ever heard of a

Thanks Chris
Great job!
Thank you Penny
good job!
Hello. Have you heard of Krud Cutter? I use that to get old gunk and grease off anything. It’s the bomb. Great job on this. ❤️
I have! Thank you!
Love it 💕 🌻
Thank you Rochelle
VERY NICE.....
very nice.
Awesome 👍
Thank you Alma
Great job. Did you also put shellac top coat on cane chair backs? These young people must be absolutely thrilled to get your beautiful pieces....how far away from Surprise are you? They have estate sales (which I feel are over priced).. But maybe I can recruit some left over furniture pieces for you. Never hurts to ask.
Hi Linda. I am about 2 or 3 hours from Surprise but thank you so much for offering. Perhaps they can donate straight to foster children in your area? I used that lacquer on the chairs but it was very strong smelling and nothing special
Yahhhhh
Shellac is activated with hot plates and melt easily. I cover mine with Shellac and is already ruined.
Any paint or poly will be destroyed by heat. That is why we use heat guns to strip paint.
That turned out beautifully! How do you not get paint on that fence you paint by? You are amazing!
Thank you again. That fence panel is what I bought specifically to use as a backdrop so it's supposed to get painted on.
@@DesertDIY How smart of you! If it's supposed to get paint on it, you need to try harder 😉
What type of air compressor do you use for your paint sprayer? I have one that I use for my nail guns but I’m not sure if I can use it with a paint sprayer
20 gallon air compressor. Anything smaller will usually not keep up unfortunately
What products would you recommend for a dresser I want to repaint. I want a dark almost black matte finish. I’m looking for a smooth finish, no brush strokes but I don’t have a sprayer. Suggestions?
I'd suggest using rustoleum 2x coverage spray paint in a flat or matte finish in the color of your choice. Use a spray paint handle attachment for a more even finish. If matte is too matte for your liking then satin is the second best sheen. Spray vertically first then follow instructions for dry time for second coat. Spray second coat horizontally. You can also put on a clear coat in a matte finish just to give it a stronger finish. Rustoleum has this as well.
If there aren't any colors you want then I've heard that Sherwin Williams will make spray paint in any color/sheen you want.
I'm so new at this, I did my table and sanded the to top to bare wood and only then I realizes it was the wrong colour of the gel stained then I used it's was black instead of chocolate brown any idea please, appreciate in advance ❤️
You can use paint stripper to remove the gel stain then sand back to bare wood again. That's the beauty if working with solid wood, you can redo it over and over
I've looked for that spray can attachment at my home depot and couldn't find it. If you do find it, I'd appreciate the link.
Yes I have it in my amazon store for you. The link is in thr video description
Where did you get your paint sprayer? Thought about getting one
Hvlp from harbor freight with a 20gal compressor
Hi Cory how Ru. I like watching yr videos. The table n chairs is amazing . Just wanted 2ask have u ever done a project with White n glitter or White n Bling Bling. I would like 2try 2do some for my wood prices as something nice for myself ( birthday ) coming soon. It's wet here atm . Money 5.49pm in Australia. Take care n b safe 2u n yr family n 2every1 watching. From down under
Hi Jody. I did a white pearlescent dresser with bling knobs once. It can be found in my trash to treasure playlist. The thumbnails has a large dark brown dresser on it.
AWSOME! How long did it take?
About 3 days of work on and off
Haaayyy!
Heyyy
You are spraying the nice wood fence behind your chairs??
Don't worry. I bought that fence panel for this exact purpose. To prevent my real fence from being painted on.
Is your fence just for a background? I've seen spray paint get on it so I'm just wondering.
just a background :)
What spray gun do you use? I couldn’t find one in your Amazon Store. Thx.
Hvlp from harbor freight. They are very expensive on amazon compared to harbor freight, so I don't put them in my amazon store.
The chairs don't look different to me.
