Yum, thank you! Salsa is literally my favorite food in the world. When I was a kid, me and a friend would sit outside and eat a whole bag of chips with salsa. Always takes me back to those days when I was almost never indoors!
This is the best salsa recipe i have ever had! It took a long time to cure the molcajete but i am very glad that i took the time to do it and try this recipe. The flavor and texture of handmade salsa is unbelievable if you have never had it, and this recipe is so easy to follow. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hello, I’ve made salsa this way, & people’s reaction after tasting was beyond my expectations; they enjoyed it, & gave good compliments. Thank you for sharing
I've been making and canning my own salsa for 20 years. Actually since I was in high school I got obsessed with it because I didn't like onion in my Salsa and the only way I could have salsa without onion was to make my own. Then I started learning how to can it to preserve it. I've never done a mortar and pestle Style salsa and I'm really excited to try it. Thank you
Lovely recipe. So true, Colombian here…I grew up learning in the kitchen with my mom, grandma and aunts. Such amazing moments I will treasure. Thank you for sharing!
Yummy;! I love the salsa! I smoked two ribs , one on the pellet grill, and one on my Weber grill . After about two hours in oh ya I had the ribs in a foil boat with beer 🍺 for moisture, then I opened the fridge and found this big jar of salsa, sorry 😢 store bought. But still good , so I smothered my ribs with the salsa , few hours later ! Best ribs ever! Thanks again!!!
Awesome video, reminds me of home as I am a Native American from New Mexico and us natives also have our own versions as we absolutely had to adopt the geniusness of salsa. I love using New Mexico green chiles, serranos, and poblano for a very robust pepper flavor.
Excelente. I see people on RUclips who supposedly are making authentic Mexican. Yours is the real deal. You even used a comal for roasting and a molcajete for grinding. Only in Mexico the saladet or Roma tomato is more common for sauces.
seeing the similarities with other cultures is amazing! in the Dominican republic they use a similar thing like the molcajete, it's called Pilon, and it's made from wood, in it we mash everything that needs mashing, from garlic to spices, it's used for everything! there is not a Dominican home where you won't find a pilon carefully tucked away in the corner of the kitchen. love your channel.
After watching the video I feel asure I learned it well from my grandma recipe Gracias for sharing I know anybody that makes salsa like your recipe is going to enjoy a new twist on salsa flavor…they gonna love your recipe 👋😊👋
YEEEEESSSS!! I really hate when you type up on youtube "how to make homemade salsa" you dont even see a Mexican woman in the first page!!! you gotta keep scrolling! thank you for sharing this recipe
I'm Italian and my wife is Irish/Spanish. I grew up eating traditional Neapolitan food. She makes the best lasagna; everyone on my side of the family agrees. You don't need to be the same nationality as the food you're cooking to make it authentic and good.
I finally figured it out. I've been getting delicious salsas but I didn't want it to be too runny for my chips. All I need to do is use less water, Duh!!! Thanks for the video.
I just made this and it's so good omg😩my mom is really picky when it comes to other cultural foods but she loved it💃🏻thank you for showing me your culture as a Chinese I'm in love with Mexican food :P
I'm Romanian and I have something similar to the molcajaete. We call it mojar and we mostly use it to make garlic sauce. But I was happy to see I'm on the right path for salsa by already having that in my kitchen. haha I can't wait to make some salsa. I want to eat some Mexican food and with limited options when it comes to buying, I decided to cook. Awesome recipe!
i still say your husband is lucky he knows i hope it looks so good , Ill try that one out for sure, thanks for sharing, 3 years ago omg finally I see this one thanks again
For sure and the beauty of salsa is that the combinations are endless...so many different type of tomatoes and peppers to use you can char boil or even use them raw and just play with different combinations like you can char the tomatoes and peppers and leave the onion and garlic raw and the flavor component changes completely
Next time after you are done making hot sauce drop it in a pan with a little flour then cook keep mixing for a few minutes until you see the colors change a little darker. You will have ranchero sauce, will be the best thing you have ever had. You can add to anything also great with tortilla chips.

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe. Last year my son was complaining about the flavor of store-bought salsa, and I came upon your video and I made this for him. Today I’m on the way to buy the ingredients again to make it for his birthday, and he is very excited! I understand the importance of food as love within a family, such a profound gift, that you share the special recipe from your family, and I wanted you to know how it’s being used with love out in the world. Hola! Made the roasted tomato salsa today and it turned out to be super amazing.. refreshing and flavorful! We do use mortal and pestle in India but I don't have the big one with me, so made it in a blender. In India we love to grill eggplants/aubergines/brinjal, tomatoes, potatoes, and then smash them and spice them up with chopped corriander leaves, green chillies, ginger-garlic, salt and some mustard oil for the extra punch.
No cilantro in the blended version? How about some fresh lime? Only thing different than my salsa is I put lime in. Everything else is the same ingredients. Taste amazing.
There is NO right or wrong way to make salsa. In some regions they do add lime, in some they don't. I some they add oregano, in some they don't. It's basically to your taste. I personally use Serrano, Jalapeno and chile huero (yellow) in mine. It makes it a lot hotter but that's how I like it.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe! I watched your video several months ago and have made the salsa many times. I bought a molcajete so I could make it by hand and my wife and I love it! It takes a little time and care but definitely worth it. I can't imagine that I will ever stop making it now.
Traditional mexican food is the best. I live in north Texas and we have mostly "Tex-Mex" food here, which is good. But i wanted some authentic Mexican food, so I'll just make it myself 😊
