Unlucky Tug has a great video on why the Cars franchise isn't actually bad. He does a great job pointing out how Cars is a tribute to Americana and Motor Racing. It's much more sentimental that people realize.
Cars is a decent franchise yes, it has flaws, but you have to appreciate that all the films (except 2) do have strong messages on what people usually do with their careers, Cars teaches us good sportmanship and staying to one's value, Cars 3 shows that just because your time is over doesn't mean it's the end. You at least have the privilege of passing down your knowledge to the next generation.
Cars 2 was a confusing film, did it want to be a world gran prix film or spy film. At least it was a boarder line enjoyable film compared to lightyear. I hated the fact that cars 2 was the start of Pixar down fall in good story telling until inside out.
Honestly, if nothing else, Cars proves that a flawed premise doesn’t necessarily equal a bad story. The world building may not be as tight as some of Pixar’s other series, but the stories in the first and third film definitely make up for it. They’re fun, funny, and get you emotionally invested in the characters.
I'm one of those who grew up with the 2006 movie and kept it near and dear to my heart This movie alone changed my outlook in life, because it's VERY inspiring, It inspires me to be a dignified driver, inspires me to live a little, and inspires me to take in every minute of my life, whether I'm moving slow or fast
Cars 2 would have been a decent movie if Tow Mater wasn't so annoying. I enjoy the spying and race plot line. Compare 1st, Tow Mater was friendly if not the bright, but he know not to push his luck. Like how he helped get Lightening and Sally together during the drive night party. He knew when to back off. Lightening and Mater actually felt like a friend between two bubby. But two made Mater insufferable and dumb down, hounding Lightening ever move when he wanted to spend some time with some else for a night, dragging the movie down. Creating force conflicts. And the Movie make Lightening look bad because he got tired of Mater being his second shadow. It wasn't settled about, and it dragged down the whole movie.
I hate it when people say that the franchise was only created to sell merchandise, when that wasn't the case at all. The first movie was made because many of the Pixar staff were massive car fanatics, so they genuinely felt passion towards this movie (not to mention it was first concieved back in 1997 as "The Little Yellow Car", showing that they had the idea to make a car movie for a good long while.) The merchandise angle was more of an added bonus, at least for the first movie. Now the second movie was absolutely made to cash in on the franchise's success and nothing else, but the third movie clearly shows a lot of passion and heart that the first movie had that a lot of people ignore. This may be my nostalgia talking. I mean, Cars was the first movie I ever watched (or at least the first movie I remember watching). Still, there's so much more to this franchise that people won't even pay attention to.
I've been a gigantic fan of Cars for nearly my entire 18-year-long life. It's held such a special place in my heart, and played a crucial role throughout my younger years. And as you'd expect, it really hurt when I discovered that what I'm so deeply passionate about gets relentlessly dumped on all the time, mostly due to its disposable middle chapter. But in the past few years, I've grown further and further to respect and appreciate these films for what they are, as more and more people come out to admit their affection for them, too. And this video of yours, gracefully encapsulates why.
The Cars franchise has captured my heart alot and taught me many things. I even became a better person because of this franchise. And THIS franchise, is what got me invested into racing in the first place.
When I was a kid, I really didn't like movies - not because of their length, but because of how common a 3rd act breakdown is/was. It would bring the tone down and make me really sad and not want to watch anymore. Cars was the only new movie to come out that I remember watching as a kid that made me hopeful to watch movies again. I was primarily scarred from watching Little Foot's mom die in The Land Before Time as a child and it made me avoid kids movies for a very long time.

Cars is my favorite franchise of all time, and while I didn’t agree with everything you said, I really liked this video you said it better then I ever could!
Cars 1 was great. Cars 2 took a right turn ( no pun intended) in the wrong direction. Cars 3 wasnt 100% bad but could have been better. So...the whole trilogy started strong, fell down and walked to the finish line.
Thank you for making this video, as a huge Cars fan I completely agree. Cars is not the best Pixar franchise when compared to others like Toy Story and Monsters Inc, even though it is successful. But it isn’t the worst, but in the end it’s still a memorable franchise cause many kids like me grew up watching the movies and playing with the toys, which I still cherish today. The movies though their messages weren’t perfect, still impact me to this day. For instance, in the first film, whenever you hit a new place, you start to make new friends, finding your true self, and also discovering what’s above and beyond. The second film which is still not bad though people still hate it is that it’s good to just be yourself no matter where you go and not having to fit in, and also being more than yourself. And the third film, learning to accept change, learning about the past and forgetting the negatives and focusing on the positives, and also passing the torch to a new person. These movies mean so much to me as they made me who I am today. Not only a fan of the movies, but a race car driver. I’m so grateful where these movies, characters have made me who I am and it’s been a heck of a ride. Hope to see where this franchise takes me next! Ka Chow!
I was born a month before the first movie came out. My brother watched it so much I got annoyed with it, but know I love it, it’s one of my top favorite Pixar movies. I really like the first and third one, and all the shorts they made. This franchise is so creative as well.
I remember seeing the Alabama state for the first time , my imagination flashed. I saw race cars roaring on the track , drama shots and all. And the only movies I had seen were Pocahontas , and The 2D Grinch. The intro to Cars reminded me of that vision.
I actually think that cars is way, way, way better than what people say. It' very heartwarming and, especially in the first film, all of the characters are very well written and fun to watch. And here's another thing. I straight up don't understand why absolutely every Hollywood movie has to be extremely fast-paced. Things happening constantly! No time to breathe at all! That's why cars is a very fun movie to watch. Because of how simple and slow it is. We don't need things to be happening constantly in a story. We just need to care about the characters. And in cars, we absolutely do.
I really like the Cars movies. Cars 1 is in my top favourite movies of all time list (not in an order: Cars 1; the last unicorn; Mamma Mia 1; dead poets society; emoji movie; aristocats (that’s all I can remember for now, I‘m sure I forgot some stuff)). Cars 3 was good too, but not as good as part 1. Cars 2 was… interesting… I really disliked it when I watched it for the first time because it felt like an unnecessary random sequel that had nothing to do with part 1 and the storyline was weird and confusing to me. But when I watched it for the second time, I actually liked it (i like professor z as a character). But it still feels out of place, so I just pretend it‘s non-canon… I don‘t care at all about the merch or the series though.
I'm one of the few ppl who LIKES Cars 2. They took a spy movie & used Cars!!! That's just such a cool concept. Weird? Yes. Ridiculously amusing? Also yes.
Facts. Also, at least people didn’t complain about the toy story franchise, like, how did the toys come to life and where this magic even come from to bring the toys to life. And also, the skeletons of the cars are kind of like the terminators because their machines and when cars reproduce, it’s a bit compared to the Transformers, but different. And it’s also like knight rider and same goes to transformers because they’re sentient vehicles.
I've always loved the Cars franchise growing up. Still to day. It may not be as strong as other Pixar films, but what it had to offer in terms of it's world, characters, and tributes to racing and vintage cars are what made the franchise very endearing. And while Cars 2 was a shitshow that felt more like an extended Mater's Tall Tales story, I still find it to be a guilty pleasure as it still had some fun moments here and there.
I could really care less about what anyone has to say about Cars. Cars was my childhood. The 06 movie still looks great and holds up well. The message it held was always pretty clear: "Life is always about rushing here and there and about moving onto the next big things. Sometimes, slowing down and enjoying life for what it is is the most important thing."
I gotta say, Hot Takes. H.T1# Cars 2 is a better successor of a sequel to Cars than Cars 3. And H.T2# Cars is probably the most Pixar-y movie franchise that has ever been created, other than probably Toy Story.
Growing up, I never gave a crud about Cars, despite being in the target audience age. More than a decade later when there were people doing reactions to Disney movie, I figured why not see what some people feel about the Cars movies. Particularly Cars 1, screw Cars 2 and 3. They to enjoy the movie perfectly fine, and that's the best way to describe Cars. It's fine, not great, not bad, just average. Comparing Cars to stuff like Brave, Good Dinosaur, Lightyear, Turning Red, Strange World, even the Live Action remakes, I think I'll take Cars over those things.
I always placed Cars right beside Thomas the Tank Engine (mainly its classic era and especially the books the show’s based on) for being my two favorite franchises of all time. Mainly for its pacing, morals, and characters. Side note: The Cars video games are worth playing because they stand out against most racing games. Which is why I place the first Cars game as being my favorite game of all time. Of course, I'm mainly referring to the first three Cars games (by THQ).
First Cars I genuinely love sure the whole world run by automobiles has so soo many questions But it's still good pixar movie Cars 2 I don't hate it but I don't love it Felt more like Mater's tall tales the movie than a sequel Cars 3 I remember the teaser trailer really got me interested The movie kinda disappointed me after months of hype it's not that bad I just don't love it as much as the first Cars I put it above Cars 2 and Cars 1 up top
You should have titled this 'Let's slag off Cars 2' It was actually 2 that got me into the franchise. I enjoyed 1 but absolutely loved the 2nd film. 3 was the weakest as it was just a copy of the first film - plus it was written around lines by Paul Newman that weren't good enough to be in the first film - not a good premise for story writing !!! 😬😬😬😬
Such a nostalgic classic, watched this many times as a kid, even the sequel for some reason, the 3rd movie is better than the second, and I've never watched Cars On The Road yet.
I've learned a few things from this franchise: Being patient can make things much better, Not every Cars feature has to talk about racing, Accepting change is part of my future, and lastly, There are are too many theories about this franchise. I know lots of people really hate Cars 2, but hating Pixar's sequels doesn't matter to me anymore. And also that Mater is much better than McQueen NGL.
How I'd write the cars trilogy. Cars 1 A young lightning McQueen is very interested in racing but he's bad at it and bullied for it. He meets Doc Hudson who is getting ready to retire but sees Lightning McQueen as a prodigy, So he trains Lightning to be as good as he was. Cars 2 Lightning McQueen becomes arrogant, because he's never lost since Doc hudson trained him... until a rival racer shows him up at a tournament. Lightning McQueen becomes obsessed with beating him and starts over exerting himself He goes to Doc for advice because he drove his friends away, Doc then teaches him that no matter how hard you try there'll always be someone better than you and how being over competitive is toxic. Cars 3 Keep it relatively the same but put the focus on Lightning McQueens prodigy have Lightning McQueen in the Doc Hudson role. I still don't think they'd be peak Pixar but I think it'd be a great commentary on racing celebrity life
Why does everyone dislikes cars 2? I mean, out of the 3 movies it's definitely the weakest link, but cars 2 is aight imo, since it's a spinoff story about mater not lightning
Warning: long reading ahead Ngl, I enjoyed all films, including 2. I enjoyed the films as is, and they were enjoyable to me. I feel like 3 is the strongest one to me. As it feels like you can feel that sense "passing the torch". It's that full circle thing where you can see a young car who is passionate about racing in Cruz and Lightning saw that. And Lightning once being this hotshot racer who loved racing connect with her. So in a way, that's why I think 3 is a strong one. 2 is enjoyable, I don't care what anyone else thinks. It's definitely the weakest, that's for certain. But if this was moved to an off shoot for Cars and not a mainline movie, I'd be fine with it. Cars 1 is the BOMB. Nothing more to say. But overall, the entire series is very enjoyable, even 2.
I want to see aldone made a video about DreamWorks movies and villains ranking to show how Not all DreamWorks movies can be winner all and the sequel and other like captain underpants, shark takes, bee movie monster Vs alien sherk3 boss baby croods 1 and 2, turbo, the cat in the hat and Trolls, Trolls 2 and Trolls 3 even though Trolls 3 is not available you know this is going to be bad. I know aldone made his point he is a DreamWorks fan by the way he insult Disney, really DreamWorks has made many bad movies before 2020 nobody publicly shame DreamWorks only the bad movie they made and not compare them to their competition
Ok so this time i will write my comment before watching the video. Honestly, as a kid i loved the first movie. I still have positive feelings for the first movie but i don't think i would want to sit through it again. I still think it's good for what it is supposed to be, but yeah it was not made with adults in mind. The second movie can eff right off, i cared not as a kid and i care not as an adult. By the time for the third i was somewhat an adult but i couldn't sit through it. I know the concept and most of the movie i did saw, and i can agree that it's a fitting end but it's not for grown people. I say this because most well received animation had something for adults or nearly adults as well, not just their kids. For example (and to not bring in new animated movies like Spiderverse or Puss in Boots 2) Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron as a kid captured me a lot because i felt it spoke to me as a person that was getting bullied, and as an adult i can understand the underlying message about the titular character and the indigneus people he got paralelled with. Or if we need to compare it with another 3 set franchise Kung Fu Panda as a franchise is about self-discovery, Cars as a 3 piece franchise is... i'd say about legacies but the second movie sh*ts in the concepts so I honestly don't know. Now to see what Aldone has to say.

I don’t care what anyone says, I love Cars and it Definitely deserves its place as a Pixar Golden Age Classic,
Life is a highway
Me too buddy cars is the best pixar franchise i love it
I remember seeing the Alabama state for the first time , my imagination flashed.
But it still feels out of place, so I just pretend it‘s non-canon…
I don‘t care at all about the merch or the series though.
I'm one of the few ppl who LIKES Cars 2.
They took a spy movie & used Cars!!! That's just such a cool concept. Weird? Yes. Ridiculously amusing? Also yes.
Finally someone on my side (eyedalehim)❤❤.
Also like your videos❤❤.
I love the first car movie. It was my favorite movie as a child.
same i loved the 1st movie it was a huge part of my childhood
I remember seeing it in the movie theater with my parents when I was little.
Same
Same lol 😂
I can't believe you said that. Cars 2 alone makes it bad, regardless of my childhood nostalgia for 1 and adult appreciation for 3.
Cars 1 is my favorite animated movie of all time. 2nd is the Super Mario bros movie.
I gotta say, Hot Takes.
H.T1# Cars 2 is a better successor of a sequel to Cars than Cars 3.
And H.T2# Cars is probably the most Pixar-y movie franchise that has ever been created, other than probably Toy Story.
4:23 Something I can totally agree on
Especially 4:41
Including what he described about costume that should be in mater’s tall tales! you make great points! Gonna love your videos!
It’s not bad, it’s different.
Cars is a childhood classic to me.
If only Cars 2 focused on the racing career of Lightning McQueen, rather than stupid secret agent quests.
I grew up with the first one
I always placed Cars right beside Thomas the Tank Engine (mainly its classic era and especially the books the show’s based on) for being my two favorite franchises of all time. Mainly for its pacing, morals, and characters.
Side note: The Cars video games are worth playing because they stand out against most racing games. Which is why I place the first Cars game as being my favorite game of all time. Of course, I'm mainly referring to the first three Cars games (by THQ).
While Cars 2 is incredibly mehhhhh. The 1st one still has a lot of heart in it and the 3rd one should have been the follow up to the original.
Acceleracers and the first movie as a kid were my big things in terms of cars but it was Acceleracers that was the biggest thing.
First Cars I genuinely love sure the whole world run by automobiles has so soo many questions
But it's still good pixar movie
Cars 2 I don't hate it but I don't love it
Felt more like Mater's tall tales the movie than a sequel
Cars 3 I remember the teaser trailer really got me interested
The movie kinda disappointed me after months of hype
it's not that bad I just don't love it as much as the first Cars
I put it above Cars 2 and Cars 1 up top
Care dose not get enough credit it’s crazy and fun
Cars underrated
Cars 2 overhated
Cars 3 good
You have the Dreamworks Villain ranking video ready soon?
You should have titled this 'Let's slag off Cars 2' It was actually 2 that got me into the franchise. I enjoyed 1 but absolutely loved the 2nd film. 3 was the weakest as it was just a copy of the first film - plus it was written around lines by Paul Newman that weren't good enough to be in the first film - not a good premise for story writing !!! 😬😬😬😬
YES another person calls the Cars films good along with TheUnluckyTug
I love the cars franchise
And they are plenty of people that like it.

THANK YOU
Such a nostalgic classic, watched this many times as a kid, even the sequel for some reason, the 3rd movie is better than the second, and I've never watched Cars On The Road yet.
I've learned a few things from this franchise:
Being patient can make things much better,
Not every Cars feature has to talk about racing,
Accepting change is part of my future,
and lastly,
There are are too many theories about this franchise.
I know lots of people really hate Cars 2, but hating Pixar's sequels doesn't matter to me anymore. And also that Mater is much better than McQueen NGL.
How I'd write the cars trilogy.
Cars 1
A young lightning McQueen is very interested in racing but he's bad at it and bullied for it.
He meets Doc Hudson who is getting ready to retire but sees Lightning McQueen as a prodigy,
So he trains Lightning to be as good as he was.
Cars 2
Lightning McQueen becomes arrogant, because he's never lost since Doc hudson trained him...
until a rival racer shows him up at a tournament.
Lightning McQueen becomes obsessed with beating him and starts over exerting himself
He goes to Doc for advice because he drove his friends away,
Doc then teaches him that no matter how hard you try there'll always be someone better than you and how being over competitive is toxic.
Cars 3
Keep it relatively the same but put the focus on Lightning McQueens prodigy have Lightning McQueen in the Doc Hudson role.
I still don't think they'd be peak Pixar but I think it'd be a great commentary on racing celebrity life
In our country, cars are loved much. But I see that it is not a very popular production here.
Why does everyone dislikes cars 2? I mean, out of the 3 movies it's definitely the weakest link, but cars 2 is aight imo, since it's a spinoff story about mater not lightning
Great vid, imo Cars 2 is not as a bad as TS4 or Incredibles2 tho lol
What's wrong with Incredibles 2 ?
Warning: long reading ahead
Ngl, I enjoyed all films, including 2.
Cars is only a good franchise if you only focus on cars 1 and 3 (in my opinion)
But they also should’ve have humans in it, just like in Transformers and knight rider.
Cars was AMAZING
I said what I said
