Well it’s not Toy Story the greatest film ever so it’s conceptually bad because it doesn’t do what Toy Story did, said some guy obsessed with a crab and blah blah
Main critisizm of the film is that Cars being sentient cars doesn’t add to the story. The main character is a race car who needs to slow down to appreciate things around him. If that’s not talking advantage of the theme, idk what is.
@@mavikartal7775 I saw Schaff’s video too and that was a pretty shit take. The cars are sentient because it’s a NASCAR film, when you watch a NASCAR race you see cars. The cars are the characters, so yes, it does benefit the story to remove the human aspect and to just anthropomorphize the cars.
I will say, out of the 3, the first one (in my opinion) has the best intro. The build up to introducing Lightning McQueen, the song (ESPECIALLY the song) that plays, and just the whole racing sequence and compilation really make it a pretty fun beginning. The rest of the movie is pretty ok. But definitely feel that it’s a bit over hated these days
Even though the first one is easily the best, and the second is easily the worst, I think the second one has the best opening. That score combined with the masterful choreography and the best visuals of that time make for one of the best openings from any Pixar movie, genuinely. Then the rest of the movie sucks, and I could not be more disappointed.
I love how everyone complains about Lightning being a complete jerk in the first half of the movie, yet they don't complain about Kuzco, even though I could argue that Kuzco started out as a much bigger jerk than Lightning ever was.
RUclipsr CinemaSins kept sinning that fact that Lightning was a jerk yet he, along with most other people, don't understand that that's what's called a ""Character Arc". Lightning was a cocky, hotshot, racer who thinks highly of himself, and when he first arrived in Radiator Springs, he becomes more humble and considerate. Side note: I've never really been a fan of CinemaSins -- given that he's trying to pass off as one of those critics, but he critiques every little thing, from the studio logo being too long to anything that isn't relevant.
I am so glad more people are agreeing with me on Cars being an underrated classic and discussing what makes it so good. First the Unlucky Tug and now Aldone.
Cars is honestly a very good movie, the reason why it's very, not gonna say hated, but not as well liked is because it came out during Pixar's Golden Age of Cinema, and Cars isn't as good as them, however it doesn't take away that Cars is still a fun and Good movie
I think the true reason it’s so maligned is because at it’s heart it is a NASCAR movie. And NASCAR’s core audience at that time was well, you can imagine, not piling into theaters to see an animated movie. NASCAR is so integral to this film’s DNA that it doesn’t really hit for many non-NASCAR fans.
As a person who loved growing up with this film (and it’s strange sequel), I definitely agree with the fact that _Cars_ should get more love than what it has already. It’s a masterpiece of a film, definitely one of the best films that Pixar made in my opinion and it’s definitely better than Pixar’s newer catalog. (Their new catalog has mostly decent titles, but their older films are perfect!)
Cars is a movie that I adore with all my heart, and revisit it time to time, the first time watching I still remembered all the dialogue from countless rewatches.
Fun Fact did you know Lightning McQueen Agent Harv is voiced by 2 different voice actors due to language? Different For the British UK, he is voiced by Jeremy Clarkson, and in The United States Dub, he is done by Jeremy Piven ❤
@thecluckster3908 I think he meant when he was 6 because they're a remarkable speller for a six 6 year old; but anyone above the age of 6 should know autism isn't diagnosable for 6 year olds.
@neilhannan5112 Yes I did because they mentioned it a few times on Top Gear. It's not just the UK version, JC's Harv was the standard and the one used most internationally.
Cars came out when i was in college and I am a motorhead and NASCAR fan, so i absolutely loved the novie because of all the references and things it got right. (Even with anamorphic cars, it still makes more sense than Talladega Nights.) And then the third film doubled down on the NASCAR aspect. If you could erase the secret film from existence, I would argue it's Pixar's best feanchise.
In the first Cars movie it was a lot easier to overlook the odd questions about how they live in human-like buildings with human inventions, because at least the buildings had a distinct car theme and they incorporated some designs into them that would only fit cars instead of humans (like garage doors instead of normal doors for example). But then Cars 2 came out, and put allll of those questions in the forefront, showing many real-world locations that can't really be explained with Cars logic.
The sound design is a master piece. If you are knowledgeable on cars, you can tell the attention to detail, every car sound exactly as they should. Even the VW beetle flies sound like an accurate air cooled boxter 4 cylinder
Yes YOU ARE CORRECT?! THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOFVIE TO WATCH REPEATEDLY ON DISNEY+! I was 5 when the first cars movie came out,at least my dad bought a cars DVD. I watched it so much for years that it would skip from when Lightning McQueen is gonna pass the finish line,to skipping to him being chased by the Stanley sign stuck to him chasing him. I have watched this movie like 6 times since 2023 started. The first cars movie is always my fav disney movie.
It's kind of ironic that people say that this was just made for toys and it's soulless when if you look at the production of this movie and you can see that this film is loaded with passion.
Cars is my favorite animated movie of all time, it has a great character development, amazing animation and visuals, great sound effects and the american culture they show is awesome. And almost all the characters are very likeable and fun and very memorable. This will always be my favorite Pixar movie aside from Toy Story. And this franchise doesn’t deserve hate. And I wouldn’t call Cars “underrated” because its very popular and it sells billions on merchandise
In the grand scheme of Pixar's catalog, Cars is a very underrated Pixar film. From characters, to the story, to the world, a lot of passion is seen in every single thing this movie shows us. And passion is what matters most for a film
Thanks for making this video, and even though Cars may not be the best Pixar movie, it’s still a fun one with a good message. Also I’m so grateful for this movie because it made me who I am today, a race car driver.
THANK YOU! Cars is always overlooked as mid compared to the other movies in Pixar’s golden age. Easy S tier, along with all of the other movies between Toy Story 2 and 3
Cars truly is an under appreciated film. It’s not perfect, but it’s a great movie. This movie defined my childhood, and Always has a special place in my heart. The movie is so good that I own it on Vinyl, and it’s such a killer soundtrack
Cars is the most I've watched the most, ever. I have many good memories of watching this film and it forms the basis of my love for film, cars and racing. One of Pixars many W movies.
Good review and I do agree. Cars is one of my favorite movies. It’s also basically a movie about Route 66 and the Interstate Highway System. The intro is so unique because it’s very slow paced and there’s no narrator. First we are introduced to Lightning McQueen, but not his character establishment moment, instead we see what he’s doing and showing how popular he is. Next it’s shows the races and what they do during the race. Than we are told what the goal is, not from a narrator or Lighting McQueen instead it’s from the news reporters Bob and Darrel. Finally it is Lightning McQueen’s character establishment moment. I also admire Doc’s quote of trophies just being empty cups because that is technically true because while winning a trophy is nice like the movie says there is more to life than just fame and fortune and sometimes you don’t need a trophy to prove how good you are at something. Sometimes just being a good sport and good friend is good enough too. It’s also sort of like that from Ralph from Wreck It Ralph “Turns out I don’t need a medal to tell me I’m a good guy because of that little kid likes me how bad can I be.”
I probably wouldn’t love Pixar anywhere near as much if it wasn’t for Cars. By far one of the best Pixar films, better than most Pixar movies today. I always liked Cars, never understood the hate. Good mix of humor, drama, and that song number when the freeway got built which killed Radiator Springs is a true "Pixar moment"! The two sequels tho....
Cars is still my favorite Pixar movie,it was funny, touching, and enjoyable. Sure,it had a lot of logical questions, but looking pass them it's a good movie.
Chick Hicks is actually a perfect villain for this movie, he can be funny sometimes but shows that he would do anything he can to win a race even if he cheats, im happy pixar didn’t make him evil like Hopper or Syndrone because its mainly about McQueen’s character growth and the way he interacts with everyone in radiator springs and at the end he decides go back and help The King finish the race which is great, the message wouldn’t land if McQueen just crossed the finished line before chick.

Please heart my comment and leave your thoughts and ideas for Cars 4 (if there is one) below this comment!!! What’s your favourite character/characters from the Cars films??? 🚗🚙
I understand why people call lightning a jerk and dislike him but in this first movie at the beginning it's true he is a jerk but he does show signs that deep down he's really a nice person like whenever his manager asked him about his friends you can see Lightning's face starting to get sad and then he finds Radiator Springs and he finds his true self
Cars is a pretty good movie on its own because it was a childhood movie for me and the tribute to Americana. It also gets more points for being a whole themed area in Disney California Adventure
I agree the car’s franchise just like the first film is underrated there are plenty of things about it that are worth admiring like the lessons themes characters and so on.
I personally think that saying that cars being alive in this film makes no sense is like saying that Harry Potter being able to do magic makes no sense.
I feel ready for a video about the rest of Sony animation after talks about the spider-verse franchise? Condseiring that movies as a whole are gaining debatable qualities, can try a video about Disney Junior and another one about PBS kids? Disney sidekicks, Disney parents, and Disney landscapes, all of these are topics I think will do well in their own videos.
What I've always liked about Pixar is their ability to turn an object/animal that's normally menacing or otherwise unappealing in some way into a lovable, "human" character with thoughts, feelings, and motivations. Look at A Bug's Life, for example. Ants, cockroaches, caterpillars, etc are creepy and gross, with their 2 antennae and 6+ legs. Yuck. A person's first instinct upon seeing a bug in their room is to get a can of Raid. And, yet, the bugs in that movie looked surprisingly cute. Sure, it's not my favorite Pixar movie, but it was good. Look at Ratatouille. Rats are disgusting, vile pests with ravenous appetites. Once they get in your house, they're happy to urinate and defecate anywhere they like and eat whatever is available in your home. And, yet, the rats in that movie were fluffy and cute. Plus, Remy, a sentient and self-aware rat, is terrified in that scene in which he's looking at a store full of rat poison. He knows that humans despise his kind and that his life is constantly in danger each time he steps foot in a kitchen (aka a place that bans rats without exception), but he aspires to become a chef, no matter what happens to him. That's admirable. Look at Finding Nemo. Although people like sharks, sharks are dangerous, creepy, scaly top predators with huge teeth and freakish mouths. When they open their mouths, it's looking into the abyss. They're fish, too, so although they're intelligent, they can't emote the way humans and dogs can. They can't smile, and their eyes look like they have no soul. And, yet, Bruce was a big, funny shark as were his two colleagues and he cried over Marlin's commitment to finding his lost son Nemo. He never his own dad so he got emotional over Marlin's journey. They're really friendly towards their punier fishy friends like Dory and Marlin. Sure, Bruce will get those natural urges when he smells blood just on the nature of being a great white shark, but, otherwise, he's a cool guy. That's great. That's what I enjoyed about Cars. Normally, it should be difficult to make automobiles sympathetic. The automobile, as useful and charismatic as it is, is ultimately a giant metal box that's even scarier than any rat or shark is. They turn millions of adults and children per year into roadkill. They're 1-2+ ton monsters made of steel and plastic that can somehow travel at 100+ mph. Their very presence destroys our planet. They reek of noxious gases and smell so bad that even a bathroom smells better than them. And, yet, the vehicles in Cars look pretty cute and goofy. It's therefore easier to sympathize with Lightning's longing for friendship. That's the magic of Pixar right there. In their heyday, they probably could've released an instant classic about sentient computer mice.
While the third movie was decent, I feel there was a missed opportunity for it to focus on The King (Strip Weathers) as one of the central characters. Since the movie is about Lightning McQueen coming to the verge of retiring and all, I feel like he would have gained a lot from advice and insight provided by The King, who has already been in his same situation in the first movie with the company of Dinoco. Lightning even suffers a (nearly) career ending crash similar to that which happened to The King in the first film.
I never thought of this before, I agree with you. It would've been nice to see The King ( Strip Weathers ) have more camera time and more depth into his character arc.
Just rewatched this movie for the first time in years as an adult and wow it held up better than I remember! The story and message of this movie, along with all the great car / racing puns, and love for small town America is what truly makes it a masterpiece. Was so happy this movie still holds up but made me sad how HARD Disney has fallen off. I hope they can get back to focusing on good stories instead of political messaging and IP mining asap so my kids can grow up with true classics like this
Cars is easily the single most over hated Pixar movie. The main reason for why people don't like it is definitely because of Cars 2, and people thinking the franchise was always like that.
Yeah, I actually liked it. Cars 2 is not perfect but damn it is so enjoyable. I think what could've been better is that Mater shouldn't be involved in any of the spy stuff with few things shifted and I think the movie could improve significantly. Finn McMissile is the movies most redeeming quality
No need for a fight good sir. You have your own opinion and that's all that matters. It doesn't matter what anyone else says about the movie as the long as you like it.
We just might be friends. You appreciate Elemental and Cars. Yeah I feel like Cars has enough of John Lassiter's heart and passion for automobiles to balance out the mildly formulaic plot.
I always thought that the reason people don't like the Cars franchise as much as the other Pixar ones was not only because of the damage Cars 2 did on the studio as a whole, but also because the first movie came out after The Incredibles and before Ratatouille; the bar was higher than ever for them, so having a talking cars movie (a concept done to death in kids media) in between the two felt weird and wrong
Honestly if Cars came out today in it’s exact same state I think people would consider it one of Pixar’s best works, at least recently. Because what competition would it have? Lightyear? Turning Red? Luca? Onward?
Thanks for making this video. MrEnter made a video about this movie and... well.... it was REALLY BAD!! Not one of the best ones he's done in a while. I mean, I'm okay with him not liking the movie, but the video itself wasn't one of his finest. I ABSOLUTELY ADORED this movie when I was little. And, while I do admit, some parts felt a tad slow as a child, I still watched it over and over again like 40,000 times! That old Cars DVD has a special place in my heart. People take the logic in this movie WAY too seriously. It doesn't have to make sense. Woody talking doesn't make sense either, but... it's not supposed to make sense. It's just a movie.
There was one time I said in a comment section, That Cars 2 was trash and Cars 3 was the best out of the franchise (Don’t hate please i’ve had enough hate on this already). People came at me saying that Cars 2 is good, I just don’t get it. People also said that Cars 2 is better than cars 3… and i was like, What?!? Cars 3 is an underrated Gem. And I stand by that fact. It is such a good story. I love it; and it deserves more appreciation than it actually gets. I also love the first one though. Cars 2 is more like a spin off than a sequel. I don’t count it as cannon to the storyline at all. I feel like the people that made that movie we’re on drugs or somethn
Kid Danger: *wearing his big trucker pup outfit and puts his hoof on his face and has a thinking face* you know, i kinda of agree with you on your opinion, but, BUT, i think Thomas and friends (not the Thomas and friends with the model trains or the toy trains) the 3D animation Thomas and friends IS under-rated.
Cars is my third favorite Pixar movie behind only the 2 incredible movies. I was shocked to find how underrated it was and for all these negative reviews drive me crazy. Get the joke?
Why did you cut the aspect ratio of the movie? The standard definition 4:3 was the largest format. Pixar cut down from 4:3 to widescreen; instead of the other way around. So there's literally MORE movie on screen when watching in 4:3 aspect ratio
No, Cars is pretty well liked. What are you gonna say next, that 2 sucks. I like all 3 movies. 2 was fun for what it was, and did well for Mater's character imo. It wasn't a good sequel for Lightning and the tone shift is really weird but it's still good and fun.

Lightning's character arc reminds me of Kuzco from emperors new groove
A Doc Hudson movie detailing about his past as a racer would be cool to see
That would be interesting.
excuse my language, but i FUCKING LOVE the cars movies, ever since I saw the first one
Разбор очень качественный, будто бы посмотрел канал миллионник

Cars, Finding Nemo and Bolt are probably the movie that got me into Disney, sad that disney almost never make this kind of movie anymore
I agree with you. Cars is such an underrated movie I love the first and third cars movie both of those are underrated classics
LEAVE A LIKE IF YOU LIKE OR LOVE CARS! Thank you Aldone for making this video!
Only reason everyone hates cars 2 is bc they know they will never be as cool as Finn McMissile
You can't say his theme isn't a banger come on
Facts.
LOUDER THEY ALL NEED TO HEAR THIS LOUDER FOR THE BACK🙏
I feel ready for a video about the rest of Sony animation after talks about the spider-verse franchise?
I love Cars so much❤ It’s my favorite Movie of all time thanks to Pixar.
Funny enough I just did a presentation for a film class using Cars 1 as the movie for the topic
How did it go?
I did a presentation on this film for my English class in 7th grade.
The best freaking classic in history 🎉
I actually quite like cars 2 but I understand why people don't like and why pixar tried to remove it from the story
Yeah, Cars 2 mat not be perfect, but it's still enjoyable.
Cars 2 did get referenced a few times in Cars 3, actually. Jeff Gorvete appeared in the movie, for example.
@@Josue_S_6411 huh neat
Yeah...
I love all of them. They are all great. I think Cars 2 is the best pixar movie. Fight me.
Fair argument
No need for a fight good sir. You have your own opinion and that's all that matters. It doesn't matter what anyone else says about the movie as the long as you like it.
2:30 That question would be solved by the Pixar Theory
Cars is my Second Favorite Pixar movie....only because nothing will ever beat the original Toy Story.
Cars 2 is better than any of the crap disney is putting out today.
LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
My opinion of why the Cars are sentient: They really mellowed out after the events of Maximum Overdrive.
THANK
YOU
SIR
Luca? Onward?
I really like cars too, and this is a good opinion.
Cars (frist movie) Sad your heart out, rest in peace Dr. Hookah they continue 2-3 which is....😢😢😢
I think both Cars and Cars 3 are great, its very underappreciated and overhated with dumb takes.
Cars Amazing 😊..
Cars 3 meh...
Cars 1 is the best cars movie change my mind
No one can. Cause it was 😊.....
We didn't need a sequel.
@@Unsweetened8618That take is fair enough but I'm glad they exist anyway
@@masterJ2004 I understand you enjoy them.
Fully agreed, man. I feel you when you said people trying saying that "Cars 2's better than 3" and stuff.
Its my favorite Pixer flim
best movie ever made
Aldone,I agree with you with Cars and How is your night?
Kid Danger: *wearing his big trucker pup outfit and puts his hoof on his face and has a thinking face* you know, i kinda of agree with you on your opinion, but, BUT, i think Thomas and friends (not the Thomas and friends with the model trains or the toy trains) the 3D animation Thomas and friends IS under-rated.
MAREK MARUCHA, STARY GO RU...
1 car 🚗 2 car 🚙 3 car 🚕 4 🛻wait a minute I got one more🚓 Cars rules
Cars is my third favorite Pixar movie behind only the 2 incredible movies. I was shocked to find how underrated it was and for all these negative reviews drive me crazy. Get the joke?
Nah cars 3 just dont have the charm like cars 1 because 3 is more race oriented then it is American culture
Do you think the live action One Piece really showed up Disney and their live action remakes? Also what do you think about the spin off planes?
Pretty safe to say that he wouldn't like them, that is if he's even seen it because... why would he?
Why did you cut the aspect ratio of the movie? The standard definition 4:3 was the largest format. Pixar cut down from 4:3 to widescreen; instead of the other way around. So there's literally MORE movie on screen when watching in 4:3 aspect ratio
What do you think of the trailer from the once upon a studio short?
Cars 3 is great
No, Cars is pretty well liked. What are you gonna say next, that 2 sucks.
I like all 3 movies. 2 was fun for what it was, and did well for Mater's character imo. It wasn't a good sequel for Lightning and the tone shift is really weird but it's still good and fun.
Fair enough
I like Cars
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My brother would watch this movie EVERY Friday we went to our dads house. For two years without fail
Lol u sound like bri’sh daily dose of internet
The merch is the reason people hate the film
