- Well, since the first Cars movie review, I've had requests to review the trilogy. And I was game for that, even though I knew that I would have to review this pile of misery. But why do I hate it so? Well...that's why we're all here, right?

@@Truenofan86 I mean fair enough thanks to the 2nd one kinda destroyed what people loved about the first movie with this 007 plot it focused a lot on I remember as a kid seeing the trailer for the second movie thinking a race with every single race dispine would be super amazing however at the end of the movie I was kinda left unsatisfied because it shoved too much of this James Bond crap in the face a lot
Many people hate cars 2, but you have to admit, that's the movie where we see McQueen's sickest paint and body kit makeover

Cars 2 isn't a Cars movie, it's a spy movie and while I can entirely understand that it isn't a good sequel, it is still one of the coolest and most unique animated action movie I have ever seen. You are seeing Cars trying to kill each other with guns in these epic racing scenes, it is so unbelievable awesome!

I actually like Cars 2. It's full of action and shows what happens outside of races and proves that the whole world is something else.

We had a WORLD CUP instead if a regular piston cup plus the whole idea of the oil mafia, maybe if the topic of oil vs alternative fuel was threated in a more serious or realistic manner rather than going full spy movie could easily made this infinitely better

I loved this movie as a kid and the lighting in Tokyo and the scenery in Italy and London were amazing the only problem in this film is we did not get a proper race.
For some reason my little brother loves Cars 2, he watches it EVERY night. I swear he’s trying to memorise the script or something-

Cars 2 is basically the whole Fast and Furious franchise. They went from cars to guns
Funny you say that, I was getting Fast and Furious vibes especially when they went to London.
Aside from the Car Chases it's really more of a James Bond Parody, for the Spy Stuff. If it's basically the Fast and Furious franchise then Mater would be mistaken as a Drift Racer (which did happen in Tokyo Mater a Cars Toon Short/Episode.) and be taken into the Family, or whatever, you could have Shia Leabouf as a student.

Honestly I really, really love this movie! I can understand some of the points most people, including yours, but I don’t really think it makes the movie bad. Sure the movie isn’t really serious, it isn’t really focused on racing, and generally doesn’t make much sense as a sequel. But i really enjoyed this movie, and thought it was really fun. It isn’t as focused on the story, but is just super awesome and action packed. The movie feels very rewatch-able, and just super entertaining. Again I don’t necessarily disagree with your points, however I don’t think they make the movie bad. It’s not serious, but really enjoyable and funny to watch.
But I think we can all agree that Finn McMissle’s theme song is legendary!

I liked Cars 2 because of the world building and lore behind the different cars. None of the cars were just for show. They had reasons behind their makes and designs. They all even had canon backgrounds. It also showed that there was more to Cars as a whole than just racing. Severely underrated film.
Unpopular opinion: I quite liked this film with its dramatic racing scenes and spy-movie plot provided that I was around 7 at the time. I still kinda like it despite having some continuity issues.
So do I honestly plus the fact that I was full on into cars at that point, plus my natural addiction with anything that has wheels on it and looks halfways decent! Still like to watch it sometimes even though I kinda understand the cringe parts being cringe at this point...

Whether you love or hate it, you can't deny the ambition and creativity that when into the film, I personally enjoyed it, but nothing compared to the first movie
Yeah especially I loved the animations they put into the different countries where the races take place. Italy, Japan, London. They even kinda showed some of their cultures and how it could be portrayed in the form of cars and not humans.
The first movie was way to American in my opinion

@@ash5939 1. there are basically 0 american cars in the movie 2.how the fuck was it american apart from the fact that the first race was a NASCAR track 3. its an animated movie. the whole point of an animated movie is that pixar was able to do everything. like in cars 2, you cant just put a jet engine on a tow truck and call it a day, and cars 1 had so many shit in it that would have been impossible to act. and the most important thing is that you can't act like guido. Nothing... I assume. What 7 year old is a film critic? The reason I loved this movie when I was going was because of the action, music, and humor. It was easily my favorite movie for a long period of time. Even if you hate it nowadays, I wouldn't discount your old Alex's opinion just because of your own or someone else's opinion.

Miles Axlerod wanted everyone to get back to oil because he found a huge oil source and wanted to benefit from that.
Still kinda don't get that though. He could have kept that source under wraps until almosteveryone was on the allinoil and use the new source to flood the oil market when demand falls, ending up with Elon musk levels of dominance on both markets. It would make more sense if allinoil was secretly just gasoline with the EMP explody stuff mixed in with it but why be the public face of it to take the brunt of the backlash if it got found out? I guess lack of foresight just to be evil is a hallmark of bad villain writing.

Cars 2 is my favourite movie.
At the time it came out I was 6-7 years old and I loved the action, the places and graphics( the clearance of the sequences), the ,,international racing cup,, factor, the friendship, the cool cars and the fact that the funniest character was in the center of attention, seeing a lot of depth in him. Cars 2 is a kinds movie. It doesn't have to follow some rules. It just needs to be interesting for kids.
It was really dark, we saw characters compacted into cubes, scatter their car guts into water, get crushed to death by service elevators and the reflection of one getting burned out.
I surprisingly enjoyed it as a kid (though the fact that only half of it was actually about racing and it started with a BOAT was out of place and the scene where they revealed the mangled corpse of that red spy car legit frightened me)
The film is actually acceptable,but compared to the first movie, it's a massive downgrade. This spy subplot ruined everything. Thankfully they trashed this subplot for the third movie.
The worst part, the spy thing is the main plot
exactly. Had the movie revolved around WGP and "McQueen vs The World's Best Racers" could've been better off.

I'm amazed by the way they managed to make a spy thriller out of Cars.
It’s sad that this was my introduction to Pixar, McQueens best design is on this film, it’s the best one visually, and it had a lot of effort and passion in it.

I loved Cars 2, but the multi-class racing logic was super cringe, honestly. If there was more mechanically logical stuff going on in the WGP, I would watch the movie over and over again. I just go back to watch Mater's epic lines and pure gold comedy lol

I can almost completely remember everything from the first movie but I can barely remember anything from the second one nowadays.

And that's why Cars 3 sucks too. There are so many amazing things in Cars 2. They can't just forget that McQueen raced traveled around and raced against Formula 1 car. I kinda hate that Cars 3 is just about Nascar again. The World Grand Prix was an amazing feature. It's rare for a Pixar movie to actually explore around the world, not just America. And Jacksom Storm being the next gen in Cars 3 only wins Nascar? Can we make him race in a street circuit?

I actually think that this is the best movie in the cars series. Even though a lot of people think it's the worst, I really enjoyed the spy-part as well as the racing. I've watched it a ton of times, even at my current age I still watch it sometimes.

I think its a good movie but a bad cars movie, let me explain: its so different than the original one that it feels like another franchise. So then if people go in expecting the original cars they get something very different, and this makes it feel like a bad movie. While it isn’t perfect i think it doesn’t deserve some of the hate it gets.
Oh no it’s definitely the worst of the trilogy but it’s nowhere near as bad as many people say it is, it’s just near impossible to live up to Cars 1

People are very right in saying this should have been a "Cars 1.5". We expected a racing sequel to Cars 1 and we didn't get that. But show Cars 2 out of context to someone who hasn't watched Cars 1 and he'll love it

I rewatched cars 2 recently and I just realized Blue American spy guy got blown to bits with radiation
And the red agent got turned into a cube
Hosting the last "World Grand Prix" race in Radiator Springs is like hosting the last race of the F1 season in Chichester.
I noticed that the other cars with Lewis Hamilton in the International version are actually repainted versions of Max Shnell except for the car Fernando Alonso portrayed who has a similar car model as Hamilton.
what annoys me about this movie is that if they actually just focus on the “world grand prix” plot it would actually turns out into a great movie
And also if There Was No Unnecessary Violence
Bro what? The first scene where that blue car was with the bad guys is legendary, that scene alone is better than the whole cars 3 movie. And if it was only focused on that it would be boring just like cars 3

Cars 2 is just so confusing and was executed as more of a spy and violence-forward movie. If there was less Mater and more McQueen, more racing, and less violence, I think Pixar really could’ve made a great sequel.
Cars 2 was basically a Mater's Tall Tale intertwined with Lightning McQueen's racing across the world. While I love this movie, it was a mistake shifting focus from Lightning to Mater and badging it as a sequel.
Just a reminder that Kronk is the main protagonist of The Emperor's New Groove's sequel.
Then Cars 1 should be named as McQueen's Tall tale.
@@averelldalton7964 And they named it Kronk's New Groove. In this case, they didn't bother changing it to Mater, or Cars 2: Mater's Tallest Tale. A simple rebadging would have been perfect.

There actually was 3 laps as you can see by the pit stop times and the locations of where they are during the race.
Tokyo was 52, Porto Corsa was 60 and London idk
Ngl seeing Cars 2 in 3D at age 7 (in 2012) was amazing
Ah yeeeeeaah! 🔥 I remember being six and seeing this in 3D in Thailand. I didn’t understand what they said but it was so epic. And it was my first experience of watching a movie with 3d glasses. So I sat there in the movie theater and thought I was so cool with my ”spy glasses” 😎

My big criticism on my one watch was that it's basically trying to be two movies in one, so we get two half-baked plots instead of one wholly consistent thread.
Kinda sad that we didnt get to heard Lewis Hamilton said "Bono, my SHOES are gone"
Just think of this movie as "Mater Tales : The Movie" and we're all good
The problem was they tried to make two films in one, a spy film combined with a racing film. It just didn't work.
Or, we can just say 'Too much Mater'.
Mater is at his best in short spontaneous appearances irrelevant to the actual story. Like when he drives backwards all crazy.
As a massive f1 fan and nerd, I was so hyped when I saw F1 cars and some of the drivers in the cast, but was so so so so unbelievably let down because there was 5 total minutes of racing
In cars 3 McQueen becomes doc and Cruz becomes McQueen

I do wish there was a little more of the racing in this movie. With the tracks not being endless nascar loops, these were really interesting! the spy part was good tho too.
I really don't understand the hate on Cars 2. Yeah, maybe some things didn't make much sense, but I think people focus too much on seeing every negative aspect of everything nowadays. Why can't we just enjoy a sequel to a great movie that always brings us back to our childhood? The world need to chill a little IMO.
Again, objectively, the movie might have not been the greatest, but it doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed and seen through the eyes of the innocent, happy, worry-free child we all once used to be.
