Toy Story 4 actually brought me down. I was really attached to the idea of friendship and how loyal Woody was to his values. He never abandoned Andy and I couldn't see him just dropping Bonnie like that. Woody and Buzz's friendship was strong and yet in Toy Story 4 they relegated Buzz as being unimportant, even dumbing him down where I couldn't recognize his character anymore. He knows he is a toy, he knows the voice lines are just programmed in from the TV show he was from. He wouldn't confuse it for being his conscious after all these years... I dunno... pretty film but it really felt like they threw away the original cast.
To be honest, it would’ve been hard to feature Mr. Potato Head prominently considering Don Rickles’ passing during production of TS4 and the crew, with Rickles’ estate’s blessing, were only relegated to using unused recordings from previous voice recording sessions. Even if the original cast was more prominent like in the previous films, it’d still be hard to have Mr. Potato Head in a supporting role with Don Rickles’ passing, and it’d be a challenge finding someone who can perfectly impersonate his voice.
@@hunterolaughlin This is not a unique issue in the industry though. There are ways to still honor the original cast of characters without sacrificing narrative and character development, but that's my opinion.
I enjoyed this movie, but I couldn't stop thinking about the clickbait title I saw about Woody killing himself; I was eight years old and thought it was real.
To be honest, I think Walt Disney himself had the right idea. Sometimes, you have to move on. Like Edna Mode said, "I never look towards the past because it distracts from the now". She was right. Once a story is done, it should be left done. Honestly, I think some franchises would have even survived better if people just let their natural courses run like Terminator, Alien and more.
The toys in Toy Story 4 state that Bonnie stopped playing with Woody, especially when Forky became a thing.....but there's a scene where she's playing with Forky AND Woody. So its safe to assume she plays with her toys more than others but she still plays regardless. So Woody feeling rejected makes so sense!
Well no, even in what you said, she clearly didn't stop playing with all her other toys just cause of Forky. Even Andy played with some of his toys more than others, that's not a reasonable reason for Woody to give up on his kid after multiple movies showing his devotion to his kid whether he is the main man or not. Toy Story 4 HAD TO regress Woody to a Toy Story 1 mindset, but worse, in order to make it "make sense". But as the 4TH MOVIE in a series.......it does not
I think how a sequel should be done is awknowegling the franchise logic and character growth of our protagonist, and either expanding it to a new challenge or looking at another flaw the protagonist has. I think the worst sequel do the 'You think you know but you don't' Trope. Where they want to tell the same story but twist the world building and character changes to a new prespective that defy what happen to suvert audience expectations. You can survert audience expections but it has to be within reason. When you try to have your story break your audience understanding of the original without understanding how it tie back to the original, it make people feel like it lesser than the original. Not terrible, but just lesser.
Im honestly more upset how they made Bonnie become more irresponsible than how she was in TY3 TY3’s Bonnie was shown to be playful with the toys and she even promised to Andy to keep them together no matter what. Especially Woddy, and she loved Woody as her own toy. Especially how she even rescued Chuckles from being thrown out when he was broken as he said that Bonnie took him in and fixed him They just made Bonnie irresponsible. I get she’s just a kid and that she can lose interest in Woody, but she literally forgot about him and placed all her attention to Forky and didn’t even bother to look for Woody
Hawaiian Toons came out in 2011, Party Rex came out in 2012, Toy Story of Terror in 2013, And Toy Story: That Time Forgot in 2014 Like they milking the sh Out of it
THIS! I've been saying this for so long, but why can't they just create one massive story that gets told over the course of multiple movies? This way the story can go at a much slower and comfortable pace, leaving room for good character development, and even worldbuilding, instead of having to squish everything about the story into a 1-2 hour long movie. This also means that a sequel doesn't have to come up with a new story that completely breaks the audience's understanding of the first movie or completely ruin everything about it. Heck, it's even good from a box office point of view! if the first movie is just part 1 of a multiple movie story, then people will be much more excited and interested in going to see the continuation, and how the story progresses.
@@emicastudios8500 I definitely could've seen it working for Big Hero 6 (being a suphero film), Encanto (having a big cast), or Raya and the Last Dragon (having a world-ending story, complex themes, and a multi-cultural setting). It'd be nice if they do a trilogy or something for a start.
@@richardblakely6854 Those films had things against them, though; Amazing Spiderman was the second major film adaptation of a famous property, and Fantastic Beasts was a spinoff. Both film series had to deal with heavy comparisons to an original series that fans saw as superior.
Compare Frozen 2 to HTTYD 3. Both were made in 2019. Both capped off their respective franchises (or seemed to at least, until Disney decided they wanted more money). Both dealt with themes of coming of age, and accepting of change, and were aimed at older audiences. But HTTYD 3 succeeded in many ways where Frozen 2 failed. Granted, neither film is perfect, but imo, HTTYD 3 had a clear sense of direction which tied into what happened in the previous 2 films, and brings everything to a (mostly) satisfying conclusion. Frozen 2, on the other hand, felt very rushed, seemed to forget all about Elsa's character growth in the first film, and overall lacked a sense of direction. For me, this is a microcosm of how Dreamworks is beating Disney at its own game.
If a sequel should be done. It should be like the Winnie the Pooh sequel. That one was actually nice and heart warming And this was a sequel of a animated movie compared to remakes like Ariel and alladin
Then again, it’s Winnie the Pooh. It’s one of those franchises that’s immune to bad sequels. It’d definitely be a challenge to make a bad Winnie the Pooh sequel.
11:28 You know when you brought up Frozen again, I remembered your prior vids on it where you mentioned the nonsensical nature of Elsa being the fifth element. And then realized how they could have easily resolved this particular issue by having her actually represent like, spirit or heart, or mind or something. In essence saying that she wasn't actually limited to ice powers, but rather because her heart was cold and closed off, she expressed her powers through ice. And that only when she can embody all other four elements would she be able to truly become the fifth element. To be calm and patient like the ocean waves, to hole passion that burns like a raging fire, to let your heart soar like the winds, and for your body to be as strong as the earth. And maybe thats what the writers originally intended, but never got to do thanks to disney's insatiable hunger for money, and if being true to yourself is the theme they wanted for the second film. Then it would have been a perfect continuation of the original story for once, and likely have been one of, if not the best sequel they've ever made.
@@SpectreBagels Thanks, honestly when you think about it, the natural progression from the first movie would have been self discovery. First she opens her heart to love, and accepts her sister's desires, then she opens her mind to herself and accepts her own desires and needs coming to realize who she wants to be as a person.
A few folks have said it already, but I’m in the camp that liked Rescuers Down Under. I think it’s one of the few genuinely good Disney sequels. And no, while McLeach is a funny villain (though, yes, not one of Disney’s greatest), he’s not the only thing I remember about the movie. Its opening is stunning, which was, by the way, one of Disney’s first collabs with Pixar. The sequence of Cody flying with Marahute easily deserves a place in the Hall of Fame of Disney animation. Animation-wise, the whole movie puts the other Disney sequels (and the first movie) to shame, not surprising since it was released theatrically. Wilbur was hilarious and had some silly one-liners. Jake was…okay. 😂 And Bernard and Bianca’s dynamic was fun to watch. Story-wise…it’s Bernard and Bianca saving another kid. What more would you expect? That’s their job. 🤷♀️ Not everything has to be about fairy tales. It’s a cute little adventure flick, and I think it works just fine.
Requires planning or thinking outside the box, it can't be the same thing nor can it ignore what was previously established, which is why the Toy Story trilogy worked perfectly
The Lion King 2 was a good sequel. Zira was a bloodthirsty sadistic villain, her minons are lionesses so it was great to see a different lion pride other than Simba's, the relationship of Kovu & Kiara is interesting
I always loved that movie. I especially like how they used the same music style And how they still included African culture in it. It definitely has flaws and isn’t as good as the original but I still think it’s a great movie and had lots of care put into it
@@princessstar512 and don't forget that brutal cannibalism in the fight between Pridelanders & Outsiders. The Outsiders were literally eating the Pridelanders alive. Lionesses eating other lionesses. That was cannibalism!😱
I have to disagree a little bit about the Rescuers down under, since I actually saw that movie before the first one so to me that was the original Rescuers movie. I loved that movie and thought it was super fun and had memorable characters whereas I didn't like the first Rescuers movie at all and have barely seen it twice. Since that movie doesn't have much of a story either besides rescuing a orphan girl. The Rescuers down under on the other hand has points about hunting endangered animals and such which I think is a perfectly valid and good message for a movie to have.
I mean, shouldn’t sequels aim to be equal if not better than the original films, rather than worse? The fact that the second movie was better should be seen as a success imo.
The Problem with Sequels is not The Sequels itself; but it is HOW it’s Executed that is the Problem. this Should Serve as a WARNING to be Careful about Making sequels in order to NOT Disrupt the Original Story or Create a Horrible Sequel with Problems.
Bad news Aldone, Disney wants to do a Frozen 3. I really don't know what can happen. Elsa has found her place, Anna is a queen and married to Kristoff. Not sure Hans can return. He's stuck on a small island with no food, the prince will probably starve to death. The duke is not a villain. I have no idea what the story could be about. Maybe one on Anna's parents when they were kids? How they play and lived in the magic forest. That would be cute to see 🥰
@@vincenthoule5643 No, as a huge Frozen fan I want a Frozen 3 or a Frozen tv series that takes place after Frozen 2 with Anna as the queen of Arendelle. Since I thought it was strange that Tangled got a TV series but not Frozen.
If you know the background to Toy Story 4, you would know how many writer/director and creative challenges and changes it went through. And ultimately, you can feel that in the final product. A jumbled, out of character, barely tolerable, unfocused mess that has almost nothing of value to say other than maybe two things that is aging faster than the original three the more time has gone on. The reality is that Toy Story should have never gone past a trilogy because it was never that kind of movie series.
Woody in first three Toy Story movies: It doesn't matter how much you're played with, it's about being there for your kid when you need him the most. Woody in Toy Story 4: *Abandons Bonnie and stays with Bo Peep*
In my opinion, Dory was done dirty on the whole "Just Keep Swimming" front. Dory was not taught that song as a child, rather it is something she just came up with on the fly. Let's look at every instance in "Finding Nemo" when Dory starts singing "Just Keep Swimming." The first time she sings it (also when she made it up) it helps to calm Marlin's nerves enabling him to brave the dark abyss. The second time she starts to sing it, when they are swimming into a strange mist, Marlin cuts her off by saying her name very sternly. Now this could simply be read as Marlin telling her to shut her trap, she's annoying, however, I'd read it as Marlin telling Dory "I don't need you to calm my nerves this time, after all we've been through I'm less afraid than I was when we first set out." Dory resigns to simply humming to herself, kind of hovering around letting Marlin know she there when he needs her. The third time she sings is when they are escaping from the net with all the other fish. In this moment (where there is no interruption from Marlin, btw) Dory is simply saying "WE DID IT, HOORAY!!!! 😁😁😁"
If they need to stop it's because the Walt Disney Animation Studio is a studio meant for 2D animation that isn't meant to be wanting to put out sequels for 3D animated movies that they weren't even meant to be making in the first place. That's why any of their past direct-to-video sequels (or if you want a better example, The Rescuers Down Under) are still going to be better than Ralph Breaks the Internet or Frozen 2, because at least the former still reflects what Disney's own definitive style and brand of animated movies is supposed to even be.
I agree. ☹Me too i'm very dissapoint about 3d sequels like frozen zootopia. We need to bring back the rescuers and the great mouse detective(There's already sequels fir basil of baker street) again. They both need sequels because there's a lot of potentiel and they both great. . The both need love and respect. Disney must not forget bianca, bernard and especialy basil(He saved disney in the 1980s. Disney should be proud to make the great mouse detective). It's shame that disney and some fans don't give an attention and respect enough for the rescuers(1977 and 1990) and the great mouse detective.
I remember Pocahontas 2, Beauty & the Beast the Enchanted Christmas, Aladdin 2 & 3, Cinderella Twist & Time etc.... But they we're all, straight to DVD.
Could you review Ruby, Gilman teenage Kraken please? I want to see your opinion on it and how it could’ve been a lot better. It sounds like a movie that had a lot of executive meddling at the last minute.
The film definitely had a lot of potential and could’ve been another Dreamworks home run if they were given a year to delay the film and work out the story problems and promote the film better.
Am I the only one who thinks that both A Goofy movie and An Extremely Goofy movie is simply chef’s kiss? Like I know some people think Disney sequels are horrible but to me An Extremely Goofy movie is pure perfection.
The biggest problem with sequels, is unless you're 110% dedicated to them, in the post physical media era... you really can't make any money off them. Disney, or any other company has been making direct to vhs/dvd sequels for decades... and that alone was a novelty. But streaming isn't that profitable, even when compared to low-budget direct to vhs/dvd films... but thanks to streaming, the novelty of that is gone. Plus, we're in a bidding war right now, that is super cutthroat, with literally everyone competing for attention. What we really need are 2 or 3 streaming services, that offer a variety of content, not exclusive to any specific studio, much like how Netflix originally started out. We will get to that point, but it's going to be a long slog... probably another 10 years. The good news is that streaming companies are collapsing, so it shouldn't be too much longer. We see this same pattern with every innovation of the past. For example, did you know that Porsche made tractors? This will end... one way or another. I just hope we get quality again. The good news, is that theaters are the only profitable medium left... and people are only willing to go there, if they are guaranteed quality... so I'm confident. Take care, my friend!
to me I don’t think Disney sequels need to stop I just feel like they need to keep going but maybe a little slower but common if they stop making sequels then we won’t get lots of Disney movies fast and then DreamWorkd will then still the bling even more sequels need to keep going but Disney remakes definitely need to stop or stop the huge changes compared to the animated versions
also the reason it great to have sequels come out faster is because we get to have the same actors think about it if they when slower than we might not get the same actors for the characters they might die or pass away which will be so sad and won’t be the same without them
They already KNOW sequels are profitable, why can't they just have the forsight to set up loose ends in their new original movies that they can tie up in sequels? Even if the movie doesn't do well they don't HAVE to make asequels, it just feels so stupid when they keep tacking on new disconnected adventures and "endings" to ip that were already wrapped up neatly
5:18 I really really enjoyed The Rescuers Down Under and it's still a nostalgia film for me. I hadn't watched the original Rescuers movie when I watched the sequel. So in my mind it was always the "orignal" because I watched it first. Add to that that the setting of Australia has always felt so grand and majestic to me both as a kid and to this day. And that I freaking LOVED the lizard back then it cemented that sequel in my heart forever.
11:30 Not to mention that Bob Iger is insufferable, he is putting ABC, ESPN, Freeform, FX, FXX, and FXM on sale. He even said he might even sell Disney as well and be done with it. Wow, what a great CEO.😑
Excellent video. The main problem with Wreck-it Ralph 2 is that it fails to maintain the same tone that the 1st movie had. The first movie was essentially a love letter to classic arcade gaming in the 1980s/early 1990s. Of course, there were the longstanding classics such as Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Street Fighter, but then they introduced long-forgotten classics like Q*Bert, Burger Time, and Zaxxon. Fix-It Felix and Wreck-It Ralph were both stand-ins for Mario and Donkey Kong, respectively. I also loved how the repetitiveness of Ralph's job as the bad guy led him to feel dissatisfied with his life and desirous of a more virtuous job. That not only made him sympathetic, but also fit in with the movie's themes about 1980s/early 90s gaming, especially with the repetitiveness, simplicity, and linearity of games from that period. Right when the ending credits started rolling, I was seriously excited about a sequel. I was imagining a sequel that covered mid to late 1990s/early 2000s video gaming. So, we'd see Ralph go into arcade racing games with sleek sports cars and impossible physics; weird experimental games that didn't fit into any genre; 2D/3D platformers with cute animal mascots; ultra-violent first-person shooters that took place in dark, claustrophobic battle arenas; and 3D fighting games. I was hoping for references to Ridge Racer, Daytona USA, Sonic Adventure, Mario 64, NiGHTS, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Crash Bandicoot, Quake, Unreal Tournament, etc. There's a lot they could've done with this sort of setup. What did they actually do in WIR: Ralph Breaks the Internet? Internet memes. Oh My Disney. Google, Snapchat, and Instagram. WTF?? This is the same problem I had with Cars 2, which abandoned the themes of automobile racing and small-town Americana for international espionage and counter-terrorism. Cars never covered that sort of thing, and that was primarily why it's so disconnected from part 1. That's also why Cars 2 is one of the worst big-budget (>$70 million) animated movies I've ever seen. Even Shark Tale wasn't as bad. WIR 2 is nowhere as terrible as Cars 2, but were there any social media jokes in part 1? No. So, why are we covering internet memes and social media jokes in this one? Is it because they thought that a younger member of "Gen Z", such as someone born in 2008, wouldn't relate to late 90s/early 2000s gaming? The first one was a major success with this crowd, and that covered another period of gaming that existed long before they did. So, that concern doesn't even make sense. Dumbing down Ralph to make him a 6-year-old in a large man's body hurt this movie even more, as did his disturbingly close friendship with an under-aged girl. He would've worked better as a mentor that Vanellope looks up to instead. Disney needs to quit making sequels that have nothing to do with the first movie. This plagued Cars 2 and WIR 2. By all means, they're allowed to make a new movie if they don't want to maintain the spirit of the first entry.
I want to say that in my personal opinion the sequels based on Disney Renaissance movies and before are not as bad the current sequels. And before anyone gets all up on me hear me out.. this isn’t to say that there weren’t certain sequels that were god-awful (I’m looking at you Mulan 2), but they were also direct to video and very explicitly low-budget. The standards were low and the expectation was that this were literally just kids you let your kids watch in your vhs or dvd players to entertain them while doing chores or going on long car drives. Probably the only exception to this was the Peter Pan sequel which was on theaters. What makes these new movies so frustrating is that they are HIGH BUDGET MOVIES. They are supposed to be quality and in fact do have potential! So they raise their audience’s expectations but rather than taking their time in making a movie worth their budget they simply create Pretty Colorful Shiny Thing Kid Buy while also pandering to adult nostalgia but ALSO with a plot that caters to… no one??? Like ok while I agree that the Toy Story franchise shouldve ended at the third movie, I do think that a movie based of finding Bo Peep was honestly a really cute if not for all the other weird stuff they did. For example Bonnie no longer caring about Woody could’ve worked if they would’ve gone the Toy Story 1 route where Andy stopped caring about Woody until he lost him, otherwise it turns out really unsatisfying, depressing and makes the 3rd movie feel like a waste of time, like at that point it would’ve been better if they just stayed at the daycare. The idea of Bo Peep being a girlboss is absolutely fine too and probably one of the only redeeming aspects of the movie but once more making Woody choose between her and his Friends and making it seem like they might never see each other again is devastating and once more completely goes against the themes of the original movies because Woody really spends three movies trying to keep everyone together even sacrificing staying with Andy just for his buddies so he can just essentially abandon them in that last one? Like yes I cried but not for good reasons lol. I think this also helps villanize “Girl Boss” characters more than they already are because it makes people resent Bo for making Woody choose. I honestly don’t understand why couldn’t Woody continue being with his friends while also working on his new calling with Bo. The same problems can be seen in one way or another in Wreck it Ralph for example. Its weird that they take good ideas and just wipe their butts with it all for marketing purposes
What would be better for us and for Disney is make the sequels into small episodes tv series that can be watched via Disney+ and spend more on marketing and promotion. Many of successful films seem more interesting as a tv series (zootopia, the incredibles) than to have sequels that will ruin the franchise
Disney is not taking the time to invest into original ideas because all I heard was one original movie called wish that and it’s gonna be many more live action movies like what are the other animated movies the only original animated movie that’s coming out, is wish so far Everything else is just a live action remake Lilo and stitch. Oh Snow White and the seven dwarfs and I’m looking it up right now. Wish is the original animated movies coming out Also, I forgot to add in Mufasa, which is another live action movie.
Probably out of topic but i would love to hear your opinion on Disney's plan on a "live action snow white." Great video btw! I love how you construct your vids because it's very easy to understand.
I liked elemental fine, but it wasnt g r e a t... I think disney just has some sort of severe quality control problem right now, even without taking their bad sequels into account
We need the bring back bianca and bernard again. The rescuers need a sequel again in 2d like in 1990. I watched both and they are both well done and there's a lot of potentiel. This sequel is not worst and it is the best sequel that've seen.

Following up with Inside Out 2 not having all the same VAs, it's like Aladdin, when Robin Williams wasnt in the second one but in the third one. And out of all the old Pixar movies, A Bug's Life has and still had no sequel/prequel or even a shott film besides in Toy Story 2 credits. I know it's based off from a well known director many years ago. And the movie may be old and outdated, but it is still a good movie that doesn't need another movie unless they make a bug movie about other bugs
When you think about it, Zootopia has an almost unlimited potential in films and even shows expanding the world and even the world outside of the city of Zootopia even with new or other characters besides Nick and Judy.
Again, instead of making zootopia 2 and frozen 3, disney should make the great mouse detective and the rescuers sequels(in 2d animation), but they must be good(They must not ruine everything) like the rescuers down under in 1990.
When I think of good sequels I expect then to be as good as the first and do a Great job at Expending the world setting within, sure they don’t they have to be better than the first. They also don’t have to be on the same Terminator 2 level of greatness but I feel Dreamworks far better should give Disney a good lesson.
In my opinion, I think a zootopia sequel would work if done right. It has already this big world building plot, that could easily incorporate any new characters/ villains and overall plot. It’s a shame that due to Disney rushing Frozen’s sequel, we could have had something better, all the concept art and deleted content shows this. Wreck it Ralph 2, I will always pretend that movie never existed, for how they completely ruined the first story’s values.
There some sequels that I like: Tangled: Before Ever After Toy Story 2 Toy Story 3 Cars 2 Lion King: Simba's Pride Lion King 1 1/2 But there are some sequels that I do NOT like: Cars 3 Incredibles 2 Toy Story 4 Ralph Breaks the Internet Frozen II
There's no way the audiences like us can make Disney stop doing the shit they'd been doing with their franchise. What we can do is stop watching watching everything shit coming out of Disney.
I think the reason why elementals marketing sucked balls was because they believe they could treat the marketing like it was a stablished because “oh we are disney/pixar! They’ll watch out new and original movie because we made Frozen/Cars!”
Wow, I had no idea that Disney lacked time to create Frozen 1, that explains why it has such absurd and avoidable mistakes like the unnecessary Trolls song.
@@1992disney Trying to be as objective as possible, I think that Frozen is a very good movie anyway, it's not a masterpiece like The Lion King, but as I remember the flaws in Frozen are the unnecessary song of the Trolls, Elsa locking herself in her palace of ice with no food/water/hobbies, intro song not as powerful as Circle Of Life and that's it, Frozen really doesn't have that many bugs.
I don’t think a Pixar, DreamWorks or Disney sequel or midquel is always a bad thing but it has to be well done. It has to explore the main characters in greater depth while remaining true to who they were in the first film so that you understand their struggles and motives better. If the first has a powerful sense of finality, then there’s really nothing more to be said.
It’s just baffling that Disney is just making sequels that do not work! And I’m still in some high anticipation on Zootopia 2 and I’m sure this is worth the wait! Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5 are gonna suck hard and I’m not looking forward to them at all and it’s just baffling!!!!
I feel like Ralph breaks the internet could’ve had to tackle with the problems like Sugar Rush’s arcade version getting taken down bc either a brat destroyed it or because they were gonna remove it like how some remove old arcade games for new games Then they enter the internet for the others to find home because rumor spreads that a digital copy of Sugar Rush is placed into the internet and before the release Venelopy is the brave one to go first to see how great the mobile Sugar Rush is before getting the others before its initial release while Ralph starts to grow jealous and find ways to drag Venelope out of it before realizing he himself is going “turbo” once again Idk what conflict or who the villain can be here, but at least its better than Venelope breaking character and going literal “turbo” in the first start of the movie just for a cool trick
The sequels I found I enjoyed the most was not the sequels focusing on the heroes, but on the villains. Maleficent and Cruella come to mind. I don't mind one dimensional villains, because that's what they're there for, but the fact that they were looked at and the writers went, "No, there's something more here that can be told" is so fascinating to me. That and the world of Disney Villains is so completely under represented and untapped from a market standpoint. There's so many people out there who stan for the bad guys because it's just fun, and I'm here for when it happens. Another set of sequels that cone to mind is The Lion King 1.5 and 2. The Lion King is a great story, and is complete in and of itself, but what I enjoy about the sequels is that they continue with taking from Shakespeare or Shakespeare adjacent material. It's the thematic and conceptual throughline that make those sequels enjoyable for me as an adult now.
I sewer to Gods you are either blind or stupid if you think Rescurs Dowunder was "lackluster", beautiful animation (which is double as impressive since the first move might be the ugliest of Disney 2D), a pretty good story, an environmental message that was actually made well, decent characters, cute message about conquering your fears, good villain, iconic moments. Rescuers Downunder is the ONE AND ONLY sequel Disney actually made well and that surpassed the original in every way (which wasn't as hard since I always found the first movie painfully boring), the only thing that was wrong about it was audience reception, but ever since it bombed it is now regarded as one of the beloved classics from Disney Renaissance, fate it, unfortunately, shares with many wonderful movies like Iron Giant and Megamind, so what's your point?
I agree. We need the bring back bianca and bernard again. The rescuers need a sequel again. I watched both and they are both well done and there's a lot of potentiel. The rescuers down should'nt be kick off of the disney renessaisence.
Aldone, I'd LOVE to hear about your frozen 3 theories and/or ideas how to fix frozen 2 and make frozen 3 better (who knows, maybe someone from disney will see it and take some notes) I personally think they should just retcon most things.
"...when they focus on what they own instead of what they COULD create..." This summarizes Disney SO WELL and is also why Disney has become such a let down. Sequels are all well and good when they have a *purpose*. There should be a good story to tell that happens to fit within an existing IP, not having an IP you want to keep relevant so you force out a new story. It feels like Disney has focused on the latter, and it diminishes what made the originals favorites in the first place. Speaking of sequels though, this isn't the first time Aldone has brought up a love for Tron Legacy. Considering how a lot of the discourse for TL was pretty negative, I hope we get a break down as to why it's such a favorite for them! I feel like it's a film that doesn't get enough love.
I actually enjoyed Cars 2, its like watching a fever dream, but with cars. Although I could do without the whole literally breaking all of the magic behind the cars (like eating real world food? What? WHy?)
Honestly I watched the original Mulan, I get it's one of peak waltdisney movies and also the sequels wasn't that bad, I find that's a great ending for the franchise also I don't really think that the original movie needs a sequel. And now I understand why Disney sucks at making a sequels
@@traviscunningham7062 yes, i'm very exsiting about wish except zootopia 2. I prefer that disney make a good sequel with the great mouse detective and the rescuers they both have potential and it's well done.
correction sequels like Disney sequels need to do what the equestria girls sequels do improve stuff from the first film good bad and somewhere in between and make them better instead of trying to copy the first film.
Disney has never understood how to make a good sequel. Did you know that there is Beauty and the Beast 2 (and 3, but that really sucks) and Cinderella 2? Well, they're not second parts as such, but the idea that Disney should keep a movie and not squeeze it to get garbage out is understood.
i think frozen 2 is what killed the disney sequeals it's not a bad film by any means but it was defintley cringey to watch all the over disney sequeals are good
Look, I'm excited for Zootopia 2, because I can't wait to see more of Nick and Judy, but if they screw this up and ruin the first movie like they did with Ralph Breaks The Internet, I will be pissed beyond belief, because I absolutely love Zootopia.
Disney was good until they started to make horrible sequels to one of our favorite first films. For example they made a horrible sequel to The first Mulan movie then they made The third Little mermaid movie, etc.
I hate 'Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure' for as long as I could remember, it's absolute garbage, never entertained or taught me anything, and worst of all, it became my childhood trauma ever since. Now I don't want 'Encanto' to be next in line, Loki's show had already upsettted me enough
I refuse to watch Toy Story 4 based on principle
I enjoyed this movie, but I couldn't stop thinking about the clickbait title I saw about Woody killing himself; I was eight years old and thought it was real.
It is even more depressing that there is a fifth one being made.
The answer is simple. The original films have ended so well, and don’t need sequels.
That can be true for Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Zootopia and Toy Story 3, but people for YEARS were asking for an Incredibles sequel.
I agree with you in Incredibles 2.
But as the 4TH MOVIE in a series.......it does not
Do you mean to say it makes "*no* sense" rather than "so sense"?
I can't speak for all of them, but I think The Incredibles 2 and Frozen 2 ace that test.

I'm mostly upset with Pixar for making Toy Story 5 RIGHT AFTER EXPLICITELY saying Toy Story 4 would be the last film in the series.
:(
Im honestly more upset how they made Bonnie become more irresponsible than how she was in TY3
TY3’s Bonnie was shown to be playful with the toys and she even promised to Andy to keep them together no matter what. Especially Woddy, and she loved Woody as her own toy. Especially how she even rescued Chuckles from being thrown out when he was broken as he said that Bonnie took him in and fixed him
They just made Bonnie irresponsible. I get she’s just a kid and that she can lose interest in Woody, but she literally forgot about him and placed all her attention to Forky and didn’t even bother to look for Woody
The only reason why They making Toy Story 5 is Because TS4 was so mid but made them so much god damn money (1.073B dollars in the box office)
They started to milk the shit out of Toy Story right after TS3 was made
Hawaiian Toons came out in 2011,
Party Rex came out in 2012,
Toy Story of Terror in 2013,
And Toy Story: That Time Forgot in 2014 Like they milking the sh Out of it
I'd love for Disney to make films intended to have sequels, like we're setting up for a massive story.
That one was actually nice and heart warming
And this was a sequel of a animated movie compared to remakes like Ariel and alladin
That's more episodic, so it's easier to make another installment
It's really funny how two movies about side characters; Tigger and Piglet, were actually really good. On par with the original.
Then again, it’s Winnie the Pooh. It’s one of those franchises that’s immune to bad sequels. It’d definitely be a challenge to make a bad Winnie the Pooh sequel.
11:28
You know when you brought up Frozen again, I remembered your prior vids on it where you mentioned the nonsensical nature of Elsa being the fifth element.
I was actually thinking this yesterday for how they could have represented Elsa's powers on a rewatch of his video
Ralph breaks the internet feels even more outdated since Twitter changed their name to X and got rid of the bird 😂
If they want to make a Sequel ,at least just make it good
Requires planning or thinking outside the box, it can't be the same thing nor can it ignore what was previously established, which is why the Toy Story trilogy worked perfectly
At least Toy Story did a good job at that(excluding TS4)

I have to disagree a little bit about the Rescuers down under, since I actually saw that movie before the first one so to me that was the original Rescuers movie. I loved that movie and thought it was super fun and had memorable characters whereas I didn't like the first Rescuers movie at all and have barely seen it twice. Since that movie doesn't have much of a story either besides rescuing a orphan girl. The Rescuers down under on the other hand has points about hunting endangered animals and such which I think is a perfectly valid and good message for a movie to have.
I almost feel the same way. Why couldn’t The Rescuers Down Under be the original Rescuers and the original be one of those lesser sequels?
I also ended up watching The Rescuers Down Under before The Rescuers.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it ended up on VHS before the original.
I mean, shouldn’t sequels aim to be equal if not better than the original films, rather than worse?
The fact that the second movie was better should be seen as a success imo.
The Problem with Sequels is not The Sequels itself;
but it is HOW it’s Executed that is the Problem.
this Should Serve as a WARNING to be Careful about Making sequels in order to NOT Disrupt the Original Story or Create a Horrible Sequel with Problems.
That would be cute to see 🥰
The story of Frozen is continuing the story in comics and magazines so read these online

I’d still much rather have a sequel than a remake, though.

Am I the only one who thinks that both A Goofy movie and An Extremely Goofy movie is simply chef’s kiss? Like I know some people think Disney sequels are horrible but to me An Extremely Goofy movie is pure perfection.
Toy Story 5, r u kidding ME!!!!!
I know right? I still haven't watched 4 & not planning on it since 3 ended the franchise perfectly.
Take care, my friend!
to me I don’t think Disney sequels need to stop I just feel like they need to keep going but maybe a little slower
but common if they stop making sequels then we won’t get lots of Disney movies fast and then DreamWorkd will then still the bling even more sequels need to keep going
but Disney remakes definitely need to stop or stop the huge changes compared to the animated versions
also the reason it great to have sequels come out faster is because we get to have the same actors
think about it if they when slower than we might not get the same actors for the characters they might die or pass away which will be so sad and won’t be the same without them
They already KNOW sequels are profitable, why can't they just have the forsight to set up loose ends in their new original movies that they can tie up in sequels?

Still pissed we did not get an authentic, faithful sequel to Wreck it Ralph.
They did this with Tangled: The Series and it came out much better than a sequel movie would ever have.
Can you do a video on why some game adaptations flop and other work? Its like the friggin lottery
I’d love a video on the HTTYD films. They’re peak Dreamworks. Also a video on Rise of the Guardians which is very underrated

At this point Disney is just running out of ideas
Disney and Pixar only make these sequels for fanservice and nastalgia
Again, instead of making zootopia 2 and frozen 3, disney should make the great mouse detective and the rescuers sequels(in 2d animation), but they must be good(They must not ruine everything) like the rescuers down under in 1990.
Dinosaur deserved a sequel tbh
When I think of good sequels I expect then to be as good as the first and do a Great job at Expending the world setting within, sure they don’t they have to be better than the first. They also don’t have to be on the same Terminator 2 level of greatness but I feel Dreamworks far better should give Disney a good lesson.
We the audience have control of Disney’s future. If we say no with our wallets to cheap sequels, then they will no longer produce them
Sad that it only started to be effective after little mermaid
In my opinion, I think a zootopia sequel would work if done right. It has already this big world building plot, that could easily incorporate any new characters/ villains and overall plot. It’s a shame that due to Disney rushing Frozen’s sequel, we could have had something better, all the concept art and deleted content shows this. Wreck it Ralph 2, I will always pretend that movie never existed, for how they completely ruined the first story’s values.
There some sequels that I like:
Tangled: Before Ever After
Toy Story 2
Toy Story 3
Cars 2
Lion King: Simba's Pride
Lion King 1 1/2
But there are some sequels that I do NOT like:
Cars 3
Incredibles 2
Toy Story 4
Ralph Breaks the Internet
Frozen II
Do they? I think they just need to stop, or at least highly reduce bad writing.
And it was all thanks to one friggin' song. 🤦♀

Trying to be as objective as possible, I think that Frozen is a very good movie anyway, it's not a masterpiece like The Lion King, but as I remember the flaws in Frozen are the unnecessary song of the Trolls, Elsa locking herself in her palace of ice with no food/water/hobbies, intro song not as powerful as Circle Of Life and that's it, Frozen really doesn't have that many bugs.
It's always possible to bring back the canceled projects right? That Gigantic movie is waiting for another chance.
I remember the Rescuers Down Under for everything but the villain, I barely remeber him at all😅
It’s just baffling that Disney is just making sequels that do not work! And I’m still in some high anticipation on Zootopia 2 and I’m sure this is worth the wait!
Frozen 3 and Toy Story 5 are gonna suck hard and I’m not looking forward to them at all and it’s just baffling!!!!
Let's hope zootopia 2 won't give copaganda vibes
I feel like Ralph breaks the internet could’ve had to tackle with the problems like Sugar Rush’s arcade version getting taken down bc either a brat destroyed it or because they were gonna remove it like how some remove old arcade games for new games
Then they enter the internet for the others to find home because rumor spreads that a digital copy of Sugar Rush is placed into the internet and before the release Venelopy is the brave one to go first to see how great the mobile Sugar Rush is before getting the others before its initial release while Ralph starts to grow jealous and find ways to drag Venelope out of it before realizing he himself is going “turbo” once again
Idk what conflict or who the villain can be here, but at least its better than Venelope breaking character and going literal “turbo” in the first start of the movie just for a cool trick
Disney has made sequels back in the old days.
I felt the first Moana ended perfectly it doesn’t need a sequel
I just clicked on this video, and the first thing that came on was an ad for Disney+! XD
The rescuers down under is the best disney sequel that've seen.
I actually enjoyed Rescuers Down Under more than the first film. While the Rescuers wasn't bad, there was too much going on to keep my focus on it.
I'm willing to stop all this madness in today's world for getting my dream job and saving Hollywood sometimes in the future.
Aldone, I'd LOVE to hear about your frozen 3 theories and/or ideas how to fix frozen 2 and make frozen 3 better (who knows, maybe someone from disney will see it and take some notes)
I personally think they should just retcon most things.
Most Disney and Pixar sequels have been rubbish. Most Dreamworks sequels are amazing.
That's freaking right.
Is it possible to come up with an alternative plot of Frozen 2 in the fan fiction format where there is a villain but Elsa will remain the queen?
I actually enjoyed Cars 2, its like watching a fever dream, but with cars. Although I could do without the whole literally breaking all of the magic behind the cars (like eating real world food? What? WHy?)
Does anybody else want him to talk about pirates of the Caribbean movies
Fax there is some damn good sequels in that series
Honestly I watched the original Mulan, I get it's one of peak waltdisney movies and also the sequels wasn't that bad, I find that's a great ending for the franchise also I don't really think that the original movie needs a sequel. And now I understand why Disney sucks at making a sequels
You should make a video about Tron, it’s a great franchise
I'm very not happy that disney will make zotoopia 2 and fronzen 3, because disney promised to us to bring back 2d animation☹.
Remember Wish though?
@@traviscunningham7062 yes, i'm very exsiting about wish except zootopia 2. I prefer that disney make a good sequel with the great mouse detective and the rescuers they both have potential and it's well done.
I feel like you've made this video already. I don't want to talk down on you just yet. But how many times can one do the "Disney bad" bit?
All you really just needed to is show an image of Ralph Breaks the Internet.
eisner & igre never cared for creativity only profit & its no wonder now disneys up for sale
mr incredible looks so uncanny and distorted in the thubnail
Unpopular opinion: Cars 3 should be renamed as Cars 2, and Cars 2 needs to be renamed to Mater's Tall Tale the Movie.
correction sequels like Disney sequels need to do what the equestria girls sequels do improve stuff from the first film good bad and somewhere in between and make them better instead of trying to copy the first film.
Disney has never understood how to make a good sequel. Did you know that there is Beauty and the Beast 2 (and 3, but that really sucks) and Cinderella 2? Well, they're not second parts as such, but the idea that Disney should keep a movie and not squeeze it to get garbage out is understood.
I'm terrified to think about how
Inside Out 2 and Zootopia 2 will turn out.
I pray zootopia 2 doesn't turn into copaganda
Elemental looks so “meh.”
And it is meh. That's one of the reasons why it flopped.
It reminds me a lot of Luca in the sense that I feel like I've seen this movie before
@@1992disneyIf I remember correctly Elemental ended up doing well
@@ajakakakak Okay. But it's still a critical failure. 🤷♀
i think frozen 2 is what killed the disney sequeals it's not a bad film by any means but it was defintley cringey to watch all the over disney sequeals are good
some things should work, but do they?
Look, I'm excited for Zootopia 2, because I can't wait to see more of Nick and Judy, but if they screw this up and ruin the first movie like they did with Ralph Breaks The Internet, I will be pissed beyond belief, because I absolutely love Zootopia.
The Disney Sequels went from Direct to Video, to a Theatrical Released.
The only sequel I want is Monster Inc 2.
I pray to god IO2 doesn’t suck.
Most sequels now are just like execs walk into a room and after seeing a successful movie and say do the same thing but way worse
At least Dreamworks lets their franchises run their course.
Is it me or is this guy making the same video over and over again?
Disney Was cooking Until Cars 2
Incredibles 2 really brought my hopes for Modern Disney sequels down, I don’t really call Cars 2 a sequel, More of a Spin off
