- TEAM SGG PATREON / somegadgetguy Whitestone Dome review! This is THE BEST screen protector for the Pixel 6 Pro. It's a gadget miracle! I finally nailed the Whitestone Dome screen protector install on THE FIRST TRY! I had to make a video patting myself on the back. We can also chat a little about some of the pros and cons of this system, and how it compares in price to other solutions people might buy.

Great video. I've applied multiple curved screen protectors, and yes it is tedious. But it's one of the only options for a curved screen. I just have a quick question for people here. I've applied a couple of screen protectors (for friends and family recently) and the front camera didn't have a cut out. It was just one complete piece of glass. But I wanted to know everyone's opinion on this. Does covering the front camera with glass affect the quality? And if it doesn't, why aren't more companies doing it? I feel like dust, dirt and lint can always get in that camera cut out. I'd love to hear people's opinions on this. Thanks
Unless it's pretty good glass, I've always THOUGHT it would degrade camera performance. I've never actually tested that. I probably should...
I also mounted countless protectors because I'm also the go to guys for friends and family cause I have a pretty good hand for mounting screen protectors.
I had the experience with those self adhesive glass once with no cutout that they do affect the image quality ( like a dirty veil) because of their dot matrix used. The once with a round cutout aren't nice to clean the ones with the U shaped cutout are fairly nice to clean with a q tip though aaaand the TPU protectors don't have as much dirt buildup in my experience because they're thinner.
I bought the Mowei screen protector on Amazon. 3 protectors and 3 vials of glue.
Not bad, AT ALL, the edges are curved and it's been flawless since I applied it! Plus if you're not satisfied, they send you another kit without the user sending anything back
No way I'd buy from a company that charges $35 for EACH spare screen protector, just out of principle.
It's actually come with 2 screen protectors, you got a spare one. Plus you can request extra for a discounted price. It feels smooth just like the original screen and really protects your screen against drops unlike cheap TPU one.
Only installed this today and it's awesome. First try as well, FP sensor is working flawlessly.
I had an iphone 3g then every Nexus and pixel ( _leave my addiction out of this_ ) and the 6pro is the first screen that *needs* a protector. Im glad I watched this.
Lol using one as well on my OP9. What has to be said is that applying this is damn fun. It's pretty much like how an unboxing is also enjoyable.
I was able to install mine on the first try but it took me some time because I couldn't keep the liquid in the center. But I love my new screen protector. I had it on the Pixel 2 XL so I'm glad they made one available for the Pixel 6 Pro.
Yeah. I goofed that pretty bad on the OP9.
Will we see some kind of video on S21 fe? I see it going for 550 now, but I still wanna see your take on it before I pull the trigger
Been rocking the whitestone since the entire family got note 8s (I was the only that actually took advantage of it, my family just got it because it's a note)
I couldn't be happier with the dome. Though the time consuming installation has caused me to not install my replacement for like a year ago 😅
Got it right, let's go!!!!!!!!!
I'm slow but I get there!
@@SomeGadgetGuy 😂😂
Great for Pixel 6 pro user's.👍
Whitestone is the kind of screen protector that you either love it or hate it. Huge fan myself but reading Amazon reviews you can see people hating on it because they messed up the installation process.
Good job juan
I still haven't tried it as yet. I know they're the best but the workout required............ Lol. Feel better soon Juan.
I really don't understand why tempered glass screen protectors and the Pixel 6's under display fingerprint reader cause so many problems! I have an Asus ROG Phone 2, released in 2019, that has an under display fingerprint reader and it works just fine with all tempered glass screen protectors! It doesn't need some special tempered glass screen protector with an adhesive circle over the reader, it doesn't need some special UV adhesive, it just works. Its also using the same fingerprint reader technology as the Pixel 6's, which is an optical sensor.
I had a problem with and UVA glued screen protector (not Whitestone): it start to fall of by itself. When I took it of, it completely ruined the oleophobic protection on my Galaxy Note9 screen.
I've been happy with whitestone. Went two years on the g7 whitestone. Peeling it off, the screen was pristine. That was back when their adhesive was a lot stinkier.
@@SomeGadgetGuy sure, my case was a way cheaper alternative. I don't remember the brand name. The screen was apparently good, but all fingerprints and finger oil was easily seen.
The person on the Patreon list with the name "MrCommunistGen" wins LOL
So, what if you crack the screen protector, how much of a pain is it to remove and re-install?
It's a... bit more involved a replacement...
The lack of a screen protector from dome was one of the reasons I returned my pixel, around others 😅
When p6 pro was released I've read somewhere a statement that dome won't make a screen protector for it as there isn't enough demand...
And then Google broke all their previous sales records 🤷♂️
@@SomeGadgetGuy Maybe, but it's still full of bugs, battery life isn't great, stand-by time again bad, video is very noisy and so on. Hopefully their second generation will be better..
Do they have one for the remi note 10 pro
Ah sick, coolest in the multiverse! Take that Thanos!
You got so testy when I went back to galaxy 😅
This still is better than the zagg protector for the pixel 6 at $49.99. And you only get one with that.
With the durability of gorilla glass and its equivalents I find screen protectors to be unnecessary. I am currently using my Lg v35 and after over three years of continuous use it has two or three super fine scratches that are only visible with the screen off and at an extreme angle. The phone has been in an incipio octane case the whole time and definitely has not been babied. Unless you collect your phones, the hassle and expense of such protectors seem a waste on a device with a finite service life.
Looks nice but wasteful, single-use (dual-use at best, I guess) electronics and alignment tray
Something like cardboard wouldn't have the precision needed to align the phone this well, and the tray is absolutely necessary for this method to work
I had to apply a domeglass without the tray, with a TON of effort and previous experience, it still came out looking horrible
Best Pixel 6 protector is do not buy one.
What a coincidence I also installed mine today on my pro 🤣🤣🤣 if you strictly follow the steps in their Video it's pretty much foolproof and the quality of that protection is next to nothing. Amazing. I was eyeing their products since the note 9 but never tried it because I was to afraid I could ruin the device. From now on I'll never use another one with a curved device
Legit. My issues had NOTHING to do with the product LOL
@@SomeGadgetGuy nah I didn't want to imply that either. But I read a LOT of comments of people saying they ruined their devices and blamed the product and that's why I never tried it. It's SO good though and pretty much invisible. The usual stick on protection glasses are all junk as you said yourself and the TPU protectors are a pain in the butt most of the time and even as a case cut don't work with some cases. Before I had the TPU film from rhino shield (25 Bucks each!) with a dbrand Grip case but my keys killed the film. I went with a little cheaper brand and it didn't work with the case. The dome glass though. Perfect.
I keep failing at it.
I had to really pay attention LOL
