We experienced a lot of changes in smartphones from 2015 to 2018. Type C became popular, full-screen displays became popular, notches and punch holes appeared, and more than two cameras began to be installed. However, smartphones have barely changed since 2019. I think these changes will happen again in 2025 We can feel the changes right away, such as weight reduction and increased battery life with silicon-carbon batteries, thinner foldable phones, and mobile APs that achieve crazy performance using custom microarchitectures like Qualcomm's Oryon. In particular, the Android camp caught up with Apple's AP performance in 9 years.
i did show a oneplus 8 with a 4300 mah battery from 2020, and sure s10 plus had 4100 mah in 2019 but it wasn't about who done it first, i just talked about oneplus lineup
I'm only excited if they can make them last longer than lithium ion. I'm not too bothered by current capacity. Sure, more is always better. But the bigger problem is the loss of capacity over time.
I had a oneplus 5t then 7t, then switched to samsung, then went back to oneplus 8 pro, then switched to google 2 years in a row, just to come back to oneplus 12. I just keep coming back for some reason
Finally an upgrade on the battery side. It has been stale there for awhile especially since newer powerful is draining the battery faster on heavy use.
if the game companies starts to port AAA games for android... they might as well port it for sd x elite laptops you know both system are running on arm based processors... am I right here?
There's nothing really to be excited about, because we have to pay for that new tech. That mean phones are going to be more expensive. It's already been proven that bigger battery doesn't mean better battery life it's all about optimization.
So $400 phones using silicon carbon batteries isn't good enough? how about red magic 10 pro $649 price tag while being equipped with a snapdragon 8 elite, AND a 7050mah silicone battery ? Sure phones are getting more expensive but specs are quickly trickling down to budget phones.
Bro, the only expensive or overpriced here is iPhone. Android's price on specs can go down pretty quickly. If the latest snapdragon is only for high end, by next year it will come to mid-range then budget phones
everyone hates curved screens until they go back to a normal phone and notice how uncomfortable it feels at their hands. I was one of them too! Great video maye
Snapdragon 8 elite gen 1 uses a LOT of power and heats up way too quickly, I dont think thats efficient. The only phones so far that are able to actually use it while being good is the redmagic 10 pro and it still uses a ton of power. (The reason why it has been able to use the sd8e1 is because it has a built it fan) with rog phones it quickly heats up to 47+ degrees celcius and when it reaches 50°c (it will because of the sd8e1 being bad at staying cool) the performance just gets destroyed
i saw a performance graph somewhere, and compared to 8 gen 3, at around 8w it completely destroys it, even at 4w, meaning it is way more efficient. HOWEVER the big gains come from 12-18w where it pulls ahead drastically, and thats where it heats up like u said.
You are very right. The wattage drawn in idle and day-to-day use is much higher (40-50%) on the Elite. The reason why those new flagship phones have those big batteries is to compensate for the ineffiency. The batteries are like 20-30% bigger but the battery life is maybe better by 10%...
@@BostanMaxim the problem is the SD 8 gen 3 for me... i have op12 and s24u. they throttle to 65% specially when outside or places that doesn't have aircon. despite that "vapor chamber giz or whatever cooler is that" in reality both phones will run at 40c to 43c at 30 to 40 fps in heavy games. this also reflects when recording in crowded events where its hot and you're recording a video at 60fps 4k for morthan 4mins and its also bright in the area soo you also need to brighten the screen. at both can't even go full 60 fps constantly. for example i'm shooting a video for my kids dance and its outside at 10AM. when i check the video in pc its dipping 40 FPS. its around 55 to 60 when i'm recording in a cool place like malls. btw normal ambient temperature here is around 30c to 40c outside. phone coolers doesn't really do that much you'll just ruin the battery due to extreme unbalance of temperatures. even just an electric fan pointed at the screen does much better.

You should watch the ColdFusion video titled: "This Chip Could Change Computing Forever." Where he talks about the enhanced capabilities Of Graphene SoCs that transcend to the power spectrum of the Terahertz range.
Until we have a commercial chip that is even at tens of GHz (forget THz) that will remain a pipe dream like Quantum Computers and Fusion power generation. It'll always be 10 years in the future.
Please, game manufacturers, I'm begging you, start releasing full fat games on Android and iOS. The phones can handle them now and the potential user base is basically everyone with a flagship phone from the last 2 years. Look at the interest in handheld gaming machines right now. If you could just pair your phone with a controller and play your PC games natively on that, wouldn't you?
Actually Nvidia tegra tried in the 2010s and they stopped. Feral released tropico, alien isolation, grid and apple made some big game like assassin's creed and resident evil released for iphone, non of them have good sales. Ok anime gatcha games from China using anime graphics and console quality, but that is maybe not everyone's cup of tea in west.
The reason why everybody hates curved screen is because they already have a bias against curved screen without having any experience with them. Curved screen phones are undoubtedly the most comfortable in hand and they dont misclick anymore as when they used to when they came out.
There's a reason why they made the curves more and more subtle, and eventually made them flat. It looked premium but it just wasn't any more practical than flat screens. However I can speak from experience and I strongly prefer flat screens
Watching movies and reading books is a pain with curved screens. The glare and distortion is noticeable on the curved part. It sucked having to resize the margins of my ebooks and mangas/manhwas just so I can read properly. There's also less area to use the stylus on. Also cursed to use hydrogel since domed glass TG are expensive and a pain to look for someone who could install. This is coming from an LG Velvet user with dual screen and Wacom Bamboo Ink stylus.
My OnePlus 13 had plenty of misclicks with the curved screen. They're also more likely to break, more likely to develop screen issues, and more difficult to put a protector on. Screens should be flat.
Nice vid, thanks ! Agree on all points (don't care about gaming though). Now a design choice I want back: the pop up selfie cam: better for the screen and for privacy
there is steam os, it runs on linux, android is based on linux, we just need someone to take steam os and x86 emulation and strap them together to have the ultimate compatibility/emulation layer to play steam games on a phone !!!!! it would be the dream !!!!!
True. I think the pairing of a snapdragon 8 elite and a larger battery e.g in terms of gaming since a more powerful processor is More battery draining I don't think gamers will really see battery improvements, only if the a snapdragon 8 Gen 2 had a 7000mAh battery . Greet Benji for me
Technically gaming will still see an improvement, as I mentioned earlier, 8w on older CPU, and 5.9w on new CPU when playing a game, in locked fps scenarios you will see a huge battery increase.
I like the curved edged on Note/S series, feels great in my pocket as well as in hands. In the early days, there were some glitches in usability, but now it's spotless.
The only reason we have curved displays everywhere is because of Samsung. Samsung bought a Philips subsidiary that was trying to make curved displays work for years, but it was simply too expensive. After Samsung bought it, they started implementing it everywhere to drive down production costs.
I'm really glad that the battery technology is finally catching up to the user's needs, however there's a technology on the horizon that not many people are aware of yet. I'm talking about optical procesors. That would be a breakthrough in terms of compute power as well as power efficiency. I suggest you do a video about that as well. Thank you
@Techsnowball 😉 there's been progress in that field lately, and I think that in the next 5 years we'll begin to see the first commercial optical processors. The mind boggling thing about those processors, is that they operate in the terahertz frequencies. Imagine in 5 years time having a pc/phone 1000x more powerful that the one you have today, and using only a fraction of the energy. I'm telling you, in 10 years the world look nothing like today

A repair main told me on the first curved Samsung phones that around 85% of display damage happened on the curve, and made them far more likely to break in a fall vs flat displays.
Fun fact: theres been rumors online that valve is making a compatibility layer for arm devices just like proton. So in the near future we could see phones capable of running steam games almost natively

Last year's snapdragon 8 gen 3 outperforms the A18 pro in resident evil village while emulating the game , which is a chip released this year. Even the 3DMark scores of snapdragon chips are crazy.
If only we had some proper native android games, theoretically we should be able to play alot of modern games at 1080p with upscaling, even something like cyberpunk at 30fps.
@@Techsnowballagree
@@Techsnowball Yes, cyberpunk could run on our phones only if developers take Android phones seriously. If developers like warzone mobile would port it, we should expect poor performance on the android side. I am just sad that devs give more love to iOS :(
@@thepro7404can you blame them? until piracy is solved on android why would devs release it on a platform where every statistics show that most android users don't like paying for games. That's a hard fact and there is no denying that
@Space97. I agree that piracy is a problem on Android. The devs can implement anti piracy features so that it's hard to crack the game. I also know that after some time, pirates will be able to crack. That game
6:26 You can install steam and play alot of games, but using steam on winlator requires 12gb or ram and a powerful processor like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or higher just for it to run well, but it's 100% possible and has been done multiple times before.
The biggest reason people upgrade is because of the battery. Processing power is no longer a reason for years. Companies like Samsung and Apple know that if they give us 2 or 3 days battery like, even after 5 years we will still have 1 day battery life. Not many people will find a reason to upgrade!

Man wow this video has more info on mobile industry than what I watched in whole 2024. Subscribed immediately 💯
Love the video. I want to ask one thing, when you use those phones, are they stable to use? Like, there won't be any hiccups or lags when it comes to inputs and rendering.
i havent used those phones, but what makes you think that? i own the last years oneplus 12 and its still completely lag free.
We experienced a lot of changes in smartphones from 2015 to 2018. Type C became popular, full-screen displays became popular, notches and punch holes appeared, and more than two cameras began to be installed. However, smartphones have barely changed since 2019. I think these changes will happen again in 2025
We can feel the changes right away, such as weight reduction and increased battery life with silicon-carbon batteries, thinner foldable phones, and mobile APs that achieve crazy performance using custom microarchitectures like Qualcomm's Oryon. In particular, the Android camp caught up with Apple's AP performance in 9 years.
"We started to see batteries over 4k" (2021) bro Samsung was seeing those 2 years ago lol
i did show a oneplus 8 with a 4300 mah battery from 2020, and sure s10 plus had 4100 mah in 2019 but it wasn't about who done it first, i just talked about oneplus lineup

Finally an upgrade on the battery side. It has been stale there for awhile especially since newer powerful is draining the battery faster on heavy use.
if the game companies starts to port AAA games for android... they might as well port it for sd x elite laptops you know both system are running on arm based processors... am I right here?
they already did in iphone 15 pro max, look at resident evil 4 remake. Android might also get it (maybe soon) since there's Snapdragon X elite
I still remember putting Nokia 3310 with one bar on my desk and picking it up with 2 in the morning.
With the same optimization a bigger battery means better battery life. It's obviously gonna help
No they're not getting more expensive. And even if that's true, we're talking about technologic improvements, not finance.
everyone hates curved screens until they go back to a normal phone and notice how uncomfortable it feels at their hands.
In summary, if it exceeds in performance it doesnt because it heats up too much
i saw a performance graph somewhere, and compared to 8 gen 3, at around 8w it completely destroys it, even at 4w, meaning it is way more efficient. HOWEVER the big gains come from 12-18w where it pulls ahead drastically, and thats where it heats up like u said.
Which devices were used?
You are very right. The wattage drawn in idle and day-to-day use is much higher (40-50%) on the Elite. The reason why those new flagship phones have those big batteries is to compensate for the ineffiency. The batteries are like 20-30% bigger but the battery life is maybe better by 10%...
@@Freschluft The redmagic 9 pro actually has a 3% better battery (overall) over the red magic 10 pro despite it having a smaller battery capacity

the only thing that holding me back jumping from my 12 to 13 is camera...
new chinese phones have battery tech + optimized SoC realease.
Why would you jump from 12 to 13
@@BostanMaxim the problem is the SD 8 gen 3 for me... i have op12 and s24u.
they throttle to 65% specially when outside or places that doesn't have aircon.
despite that "vapor chamber giz or whatever cooler is that" in reality both phones will run at 40c to 43c at 30 to 40 fps in heavy games.
this also reflects when recording in crowded events where its hot and you're recording a video at 60fps 4k for morthan 4mins and its also bright in the area soo you also need to brighten the screen. at both can't even go full 60 fps constantly.
for example i'm shooting a video for my kids dance and its outside at 10AM. when i check the video in pc its dipping 40 FPS. its around 55 to 60 when i'm recording in a cool place like malls.
btw normal ambient temperature here is around 30c to 40c outside.
phone coolers doesn't really do that much you'll just ruin the battery due to extreme unbalance of temperatures.
even just an electric fan pointed at the screen does much better.

Please, game manufacturers, I'm begging you, start releasing full fat games on Android and iOS. If you could just pair your phone with a controller and play your PC games natively on that, wouldn't you?
Watch a mrwhosetheboss video about phone games, explains it pretty well
Actually Nvidia tegra tried in the 2010s and they stopped.

True, i hope your comment gets more likes so that people will realize
My OnePlus 13 had plenty of misclicks with the curved screen. They're also more likely to break, more likely to develop screen issues, and more difficult to put a protector on. Screens should be flat.
Not to mention the repair price
The screen replacement for my s21 ultra cost me 150USD
Could have bought a new one by adding half of that

Agree on all points (don't care about gaming though).
Now a design choice I want back: the pop up selfie cam: better for the screen and for privacy
there is steam os, it runs on linux, android is based on linux, we just need someone to take steam os and x86 emulation and strap them together to have the ultimate compatibility/emulation layer to play steam games on a phone !!!!! it would be the dream !!!!!
The curve screen situation was terrible because it cost as much as the phone to be replaced
You are the best man. Keep up

The only reason we have curved displays everywhere is because of Samsung. Samsung bought a Philips subsidiary that was trying to make curved displays work for years, but it was simply too expensive. After Samsung bought it, they started implementing it everywhere to drive down production costs.
