I love this guy. Very nice to have peak expertise delivered in the way he does. Actually draws people in to be curious and more knowledgable in seemingly pompous topics such as wine tasting, when it's all about fun and amazing discoveries. I hope these vids keep going!
A wine you would never expect to have petrol notes is the Trader Joe’s Blanc de Blanc. For $7, it’s fantastic and really interesting to try mixing with juices that aren’t orange or just having it by itself! There’s elderflower, citrus, apple, petrol, and fresh leather notes there, so refreshing!
Down to earth, knowledgeable, charming, entertaining and educational, just the sort of person you want to have a couple of glasses with. I say this everytime but someone has to pick him up for his own show.
They used to have a solid team of regular chefs making content for them. Some of them protested and essentially quit because they weren't being paid the same as their white coworkers. I love Andre's approach -- that wine is for everybody, but that the lore and technicalities are interesting in themselves. He has a very sensitive palate, huge knowledge, but also a sense of proportion and humour, and absolutely zero snobbery. And this video, like a truly great Champagne, has a wonderful finish.

Love the content as a sparkling wine aficionado! Particularly appreciate muting the sound of Andre’s typical tasting/rinsing in his mouth that I have seen and had to listen to in other videos lol
I commented on someone else’s comment already- but no matter how much you know about wine-you can always learn more by watching Andre! Bon Appetit got this one right.
I have to say thanks to people like André I really do find wine interesting. So much so if I ever establish a Mt. Rushmore of Sommeliers André would be on it.
I would love to see you tasting a whole lineup of wines you don't like, not necessarily that they're bad, but explaining what's unappealing about them for yourself
Our favorite bubbles by far is Billicart Salmon Rosé. After doing comparisons with Cristal, and Dom and other champagnes that are super expensive and spoken of so highly, when it comes to an outstanding glass of bubbles each and every time, I'll spend my money on the Billicart Salmon Rose when I can afford it. :-) Loved the video. Thanks again for always posting such great videos.
One small correction: riddling is nowadays mostly done by machines. and no longer by hand. Some big houses might still do it by hand for some of their premium/prestige cuvées, but most of them don't clarify how they riddle. Louis Roederer, for example, indicates that they riddle automatic or by hand on their website.
Andre makes wine so approachable, and his explanation of wine terms is stellar. I also loved his answer to the question about Pet Nats being "polarizing." Nicely done sir!!
Thank you for including Schramsberg. You chose the Blanc de Noirs, but their Blanc de Blancs and Rosé are also excellent, and their higher end "J. Schram" and tête de cuvée "Schramsberg Reserve" are also outstanding. Indeed, I've tasted some of the vintage and late disgorged J. Schram against Cristal, Dom Ruinart, Cazanove Tête de cuvée, La Grande Dame Veuve Clicquot, and the sparkling garbage Armand de Brignac, and for my money I'd stick with the Schramsberg!
@@andersforsmark3670 It’s because Schramsberg is a Californian wine and the US doesn’t have strict laws governing wine labeling like France does. In Champagne, the wine would have to be 100% Pinot Noir or Pinot Meunier to be called Blanc de Noir
