Being from the Keys and getting to run a private boat for several summers we would tie up in Sag Harbor for a month. Any night the owner was gone (almost every night) i found myself in Montauk. Love the place and anyone who likes the Keys would love the Montauk vibe!!!
Thanks Dylan! Unfortunately I don’t get the Mystery tackle boxes anymore. Currently I’ve been trying Badfish and I feel the lures in those boxes are more packed full of stuff that I regularly use to catch Striped Bass, Bluefish, Fluke, and now that it’s the Fall False albacore. Just got a good False albie box in the mail so I’m hoping to put it to good use coming up soon because those little tuna just made there appearance in Montauk!
Nice fish! I haven't broken 34lbs yet. Still waiting to get into the #40 Club. Good on you for taking the time to handle and release the fish correctly. Keep up the great content!
Hey Rich, Man what a killer of a time on the water....looks like you guys had a blast!! Can’t wait to do some fall striper fishing. Another Great video, Dan
Huge fan! Huge fan! Love the videos keep em coming. Even took a drive from Da Bronx to go get some of those fishaholic shads, because they absolutely work.🤙🤙tight lines!🎣.
So let me get this right. Living in Maryland I know you can only keep two Rockfish. So you can go on a boat catch your limit then go back out that same day and catch more.
I take along a 3 piece inshore rod and a spinner that holds 20 lb braid with a half dozen favorite lures, all fit inside a suitcase.Wife and I take turns casting.Tight lines.
Enjoyed this video. It's great to see you having so-o much fun! A couple questions...how deep was the area you were drifting and did you always try to keep the bait near bottom...work it thru the column?
Awesome glad to hear you enjoyed!! After the cast I would feed it extra line before closing the bail to get it to the bottom really quick and once I felt the bump of the bottom I tried to fish it for as long as I could in the current and right along the bottom. We were fishing water roughly from 30-50ft so not to deep but deep enough to make it challenging if your not in touch with your presentation. Having thin braid and a heavy Fluoro leader I had very little to no stretch and extreme sensitivity. If the lure bumped a little minnow I would feel it.
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Hey where the lighthouse blows every minute there's been some big girls 1 41pd 1 38pd an a 46pd... I learned a hard lesson with wrapping leader around my hand on a big fish... Never di that again lol...
Broo be careful with those pliers that u used to weight the fish, there was a point when you let the rope of it out of your wrist, if the fish gave a head shake it would escape with that in its mouth and that wouldnt be good. Still nice catches
If your fishing the ocean surf or back bays I would suggest to start with white Bucktails, shads, and diamond jigs. In the ocean surf I would have 3/4oz up to 2oz. For the back back bay maybe 1/4 up to 1oz. But of course that all depends on what kinda water your fishing. If it’s a deep back bay channel with a lot of current then you’ll need to fish heavier to get the lure down into the strike zone. Something you’ll figure out the more time you spend exploring your area. Good luck 👍🏻

What were you drifting over, structure? I know nothing about Strippers, I am a Floridian. Never mind about the drift, you later mentioned ricks.

What are a rod and reel that are perfect for 65lb braid
Broo be careful with those pliers that u used to weight the fish, there was a point when you let the rope of it out of your wrist, if the fish gave a head shake it would escape with that in its mouth and that wouldnt be good. Still nice catches

60 lb leader? We use 20 in the Chesapeake
Cool day. Too many ads.
That's RUclips 😑
What do you recommend for lures for shoreline stripers?

Very long time
what rod and reel is that
What is the depth bro
Direct tie...no TA clip?
First time seeing a 36lbs stripper.
How come you don’t do any catching and cooks with the strippers you Catch
Old school rule....when you gonna get your own Contender?
Haha I’ve been shopping around for something
why don´t you keep the fish?
Wht
Can't believe you actually endorse holding big fish up vertical by boga or hand. What's even the point of releasing them afterwards?
But what happened to Stella 1....
