Hey Fishaholic's, sorry for the delay on this post!! I hope you all enjoy and it is about time I got a Montauk video up for you all! Also I may spend next Spring, Summer, and Fall up there to film and run some charters again.. Stay tuned!
Snook fishing from shore down here has been pretty awful lately and I wish I had made it back up north for the fall run. It was pretty good when we first moved here 4 years ago, but last year started declining rapidly and this year has been TOUGH. Wanna go back to NY!
I was just there yesterday with my daughter. Just getting her into fishing and jumped on a rock to show her how it’s done, lol. We saw a jeep on a hike to camp hero that I swear said on the license plate fishaholic, but my daughter was like dad you need glasses. Because it said fishingchic on it! Any ways I told her about your channel and how you support us Long Islanders by coming here. Thanks for this video we enjoyed it
RI guy like you leaving in Fl now that’s a great video great time of year in the north east it’s the Best kind of fishing EVER!! looking forward for the rest of the story You owe might a beer for talking you back up there for me its always been your best context stripers for ever 🎣
Great vid Rich. Would it be possible to give us the dates when the vids are filmed? I have found 2 things that give me much greater when casting. First is spot your target then look above it approx 45 degrees when you start your cast. If you don’t start your retrieve immediately look at the angle of your in relationship to the horizon. If it is 20 degrees or so you aimed at the water. Next is a little harder and you need to be on firm footing (beach, pier, sometimes boat on smooth day). You also may need to change how you place your feet. While looking up at 45 degrees start your cast by torquing your hips and let that energy flow through your back into your shoulders and through the rod tip. You can gain 25 to 40% in distance by using this method and by the end of the day your back won’t be near as tired. Catch some monsters my friend.
@@FishAholicTV because of pain in my back I am no longer able to fish but hoping my new Dr. may have a cure. Thank you and tell your lovely wife hello.
Yeah I’m always going to live in Florida but I may visit for most of the summer next year and like live on a boat or something. Idk 🤷🏻♂️ finding a place to stay is always the toughest part about being in Montauk.
@@FishAholicTV Serious, or just kidding? I’m really worried about the snook fishing down here. It seems to have gotten really slow, and I don’t mean just because it got colder out. I mean over the last few years.
Never fished up there but have fished cape may, lynnhaven inlet(all over VB and Norfolk) all the way down to Buxton, NC. Outer Banks is my favorite place in the world. I can see how places on long island can be similiar.
Depends on what you want to catch..? Snook I’m assuming? I would fish both until I get a bite. Then go from there. If you see more minnows or mullet around then use the swimbait. If not then use the shrimp lure. Fish in florida can’t resist a shrimp presentation
May through November you can fish surf, boat, or kayak if you pick your days. Best fishing and weather in my opinion is late may through June and the first half of July. Especially for big fish.
@@mmercadante1015 though they're not made for fishing, I just wear my wetsuit gloves for surfing. Especially for the spring run. They're neoprene, like rich said.
I prefer to fish lefty. But I cast like a right handed person. I’m Ambidextrous because growing up I fished with all my dads equipment and he was left handed. Therefore, I fish kinda goofy but I can fish either way. There’s just a certain way I prefer because of so many years fishing my goofy way 🤣🤣. I fished with a VS for many years. The older models are really great. This sealed Visser reel is something new that I’m testing out and so far I love it. Tight Lines
Well, considering how much gear you have to put on just to survive the wind and cold I would say that you’re better off down here in South Florida fishing. But anyway, just my thought.
I’m a NY transplant now living in SE FL too (Treasure Coast) and we don’t get massive blitzes like they do back home on Long Island. Not as many ocean beach opportunities down here. It’s still great living here, but for great fall action you cannot beat the northeast.
No this equipment I will fish with all over my travels from Montauk to Florida and many places in between. On my way to the florida keys soon to catch some Tarpon with the new reel.

what's your take on the visser vs the stalls?

The Florida videos are cool and all, but the Montauk content is what brought us here!
Haha you know it. I may be back up there next season!!
Damn this some OG content right here, good to see you back
Hahaha thanks so much and glad to hear!!

I've been waiting for this for awhile lol
Hello rich thanks for your videos again and nice seeing you fish at your home town area.🐟on
Of course! Thank you so much for watching!!
I’m Texas right now and we are moving back up north in Maine , up north fishing is the best , hands down and I can’t wait to go after those rockfish
You have to come to Montauk every year. You're striper, videos are my favorite. Loved watching you out in the kayak years ago before you moved away.
He’s back!
Hahaha you know it!!
Glad you got on a proper Tarpon bite
So happy to see you back home
Great to see you back up here ! Keep them coming ! Your tutorials and information are spot on and much appreciated !
My arms are still sore from throwing a47’s out there during the south shore classic.

If you talk mama to move from Fl back up there I’d be surprised….be a hard sell but visits be better than nothing….enjoy the fishing

Great video, the quality was great as well
Welcome back to the Island!
I never reach for the A47. I'm always worried that it'll be too heavy.
Morning, Rich
Great video, nothing like catching stripers off the rocks…so cool.
Hey what king of tackle fanny pack were you using.
Thanks again…
Cheers
Hey Rich!! Good to see you Brother.
Hey Richard, thanks so much for tuning in!!!
Hey Rich, great NY stuff! I bet you sometimes wish you could move back 😉!
Haha yeah for sure. If the stars align maybe I can spend the season up there this year

Nice, yeah very similar indeed. I hope you are catching some fish fresh or salt 🤙🏻. Tight Lines.
Looks warm lol
Hey man you know your everglades video I was wondering if you could tell me where that spot is or where it is near
Wow. Looks like all the bots were first! 😊
What would you say is better for beach fishing Florida, a shrimp type lure or a soft swimbait
Depends on what you want to catch..? Snook I’m assuming? I would fish both until I get a bite. Then go from there. If you see more minnows or mullet around then use the swimbait. If not then use the shrimp lure. Fish in florida can’t resist a shrimp presentation
@ ok thank you so much

Hit Jersey... killin cows on the beaches
Welcome back to the promised land pal.
Hahaha thanks! Tight Lines!!
Can you bass fish in the summer there from the surf/boat or is it more fluke fishing at that point?

Can you do a review for this spinning reels? Never seen a spinner like that
♥
👍
Hey Rich, do you ever use Bailess reels when you are in the surf?
Yes I’ve used many bail less reels growing up.
What fights harder, FL snook or stripped bass?
Do those gloves keep your hands pretty warm? I’m trying to find gloves that keep my hands warm and dry fishing in really cold weather
Some what. But if I’m fishing really cold conditions I’ll wear my neoprene gloves
@@mmercadante1015 though they're not made for fishing, I just wear my wetsuit gloves for surfing. Especially for the spring run. They're neoprene, like rich said.
Hello Rich. How long is the Dark Matter Rod . Thanks the info.
He said 10ft 👍
Do you reel right hand? If so were do you find your VS? And other sealed reels?

Hahaha yeah in the Fall the water starts to get cold and the wind can make you shiver but if the bite is hot you can forget about that quickly
@ anyway, come home soon. We Jupiter, Florida resident missed your local fishing videos.

hey rich what are you running for a jighead with your fishaholic finback shads now that ss shut down
No. Currently in the process of designing our own custom jigs heads, better stronger hooks, better paint, and more life like.
How do you like that Visser reel ?
Come to jersey rich
what size TA clip were you using?
I think 100lb or 150lb.
What gloves?
Nomad Design gloves. Link is in the description
850.00 dollars is a lot for a fishing reel and then 200.00 dollars for a fishing rod total 1000. Dollars.
Oh you get free stuff to fish for one species, ok
Ok
No this equipment I will fish with all over my travels from Montauk to Florida and many places in between. On my way to the florida keys soon to catch some Tarpon with the new reel.
Back where you belong
We all missed this man welcome back 🫱🏻🫲🏼
