One thing that was mentioned early in the video, but not in the summary is that the cube itself is an IR transmitter and can control devices that are hidden away in a cabinet via the IR blaster. I have my cube setup inside a cabinet and the IR blaster that connects to the cube sitting on top of the cabinet. This allows me to control my various AV equipment which is hidden inside the cabinet... it's a clean setup. For this purpose I would 100% choose the cube over the stick. The cube is also on sale now and ships with the new 3rd Gen Alexa voice remote which I find more responsive.
I have had the cube for a year now and no issues with except the remote battery cover. I bought the new generation remote and now I have it all. I like it
Just upgraded to cube from stick. It came with the gen 2 remote now, so that's good. Up to now, really easy to set up as you said. We're finding the picture quality and streaming are a better experience than the stick - we were getting some buffering from the stick, not so with the cube up to now. Thanks for your review. Greetings from North Wales UK. 😊
Currently use both 1st and 2nd gen Cubes. A new cube may be fast, but my older devices are showing their age. You also have to consider while the cube is a mix of both, its not a full of either. It's not considered an echo device by amazon, it is considered to have Alexa built in. I can't use the cube to set timers to show up on my echo wall clock. I have to use my echo show or echo dots. It also doesn't have the full support of the tv sticks. The cube seems to always to be the last to get the new updates/layouts. I also have a stick and echo dot set up for kids in playroom. The children profile shows on the cube but is not usable, and can't be removed either. Looking back I would definitely pick the stand alone fire tv and echo dot combo.
I wanted a device to use for all my streaming that was an upgrade from my PS4. Also I wanted a wired connection. So between a Roku and this, I bought this. It's not exactly what I thought it was(when I just want to play a song, instead of using it's speaker, it turns on my television and loads up Amazon music(on the television), annoying but I guess some people would prefer it, can't be everything to everybody. All the streaming apps I need work great on the cube, so it's still a great choice - why wait another year for a new cube? Just get it and enjoy life !
Just want to point out that I purchased the cube in 2018 and bought it for the integration with my Denon surround receiver, switching inputs and for volume control. You can have Alexa switch between xbox, blueray or any other input you have allowing everything to be controlled from the fire tv remote. Just sayin, great video.
You should revisit the 1st-gen Cube. A recent update made it so slow that Alexa doesn't even seem to think devices are responding to commands when they totally are. Frankly, the 1st-gen Cube snapped me out of my impulse buying habits of new Fire TV devices.
I had a relative who sold me his apple tv with the new siri remote. Thing works great. Anyways after he sold me his apple tv he went and bought the latest amazon fire cube with the new remote. He had it for maybe 4 weeks then he went back to apple tv. I honestly like all of these streaming devices. I started off with amazon and now i stream with just apple devices. However i am used to the amazon interface and kinda miss it tbh
In my case, for a dedicated home theater I'll take the cube for the raw power and less cables (when compared to having a separate dot). I mostly use Alexa from the remote to turn the lights on/off during a movie or to show my ring cameras. I was hoping to see a 'head to head' benchmark chart between the Cube and the Max.
Does the cube has HBO max too? Iam debating between the new chromcast or firestick. I have nest doorbell and a thermostat and two google nest. I also have two echo dots and two ring camaras. Have a sony x950h tv and android phone
If I wanted to connect an Amazon Recast to the fire cube. Can I have the cube in one room, and the Recast in the other as to work on 2 different TVs? And how far apart is too far for the wifi signal? I have the cube in my bedroom and the Recast in the living room. And I can't seem to get the Recast to give a signal to the cube in my bedroom. And the Recast won't work on my LG TV with the preloaded prime app. My goal was to use one Recast dvr with the cube in my B room and on my LG TV in the L room with the preloaded prime app. How can I make this happen? Or do I need to move the Recast in my B room with the cube? Also if I decide to leave the Recast dvr in the L room, is there away to use cables to plug into my LG TV and use the Recast with the preloaded prime app? My TV has wifi, though I don't believe it has Bluetooth. Please HELP, thank you.
Even with the cube currently on sale for $90 now, other than the more storage I got both the 4k fire tv stick and echo dot 4 th gen both on sale at $34.99 each. Waiting to get a 4k Max mainly for the hot keys on sale on black Friday or cyber Monday. Also updating Xfinity modem to get wifi 6 so it'll work well with new fire tv stick 4 k max.
the Cube also has a hexagon core processor that is faster and it has 8 G of storage over the Stick's 4G, adding storage to the Cube is also easy, the stick is way too complicated to add memory and the 4 G is eaten up real quick just adding some new apps. Now it is $79 so for me it is a no-brainer to get the Cube. Now comes with the newest remote. Nov. 2021
Now it does the orange flashing light every half hour because of this and none of you can solve the problem everyone I ask just ignores the question because they don't know
I got a 2nd gen one off facebook for $40 lol. Totally worth it for me. I probably wouldn't pay above $60 for one because of all the additions it needs 1. OTG cable ($5) 2. USB hub with gigabit ethernet adapter ($20) 3. Wireless remote/gyro mouse ($20) Then you might need a power adapter, batteries, USB sticks, or other additions.
roku is the worst streaming device unless all you're going to do is watch netflix on a 5 yr old tv. If you want customization and power you need a shield or cube. Less power is the 4k max or 4k firestick. Other than those the only thing to look at would be a meecool Km2, km3, or chromecast with googletv.
@@marceloarnez1491 I don't believe for a minute that you believe anything that you have just written. Why would you put negativity upon a five-year-old TV with a Roku device? My 50-in with 1080p works perfectly for me. Not everyone needs to go out and buy brand new streaming devices or brand new 4k TVs or smart TVs. We can just use something that works. Save your money for a rainy day. You know you're optical nerves can only handle so much for your brain to decipher. But check around though I just don't think your comment is in any way in line with anyone 100%.

The 2nd Gen Cube is currently $69.99 a friggin steal compared to the 4k Max

You forgot to mention that you can add extra storage on the cube via the micro usb connection.

Just bought the cube here in the UK on sale for £59.99 and it has the newer 3rd gen remote with it now.
CUBE....Picked it up for 60 bucks.
Great review thanks. Do you know what the max hard wire streaming speed is, i have gigabit internet service.

I have all Amazon Firesticks and Fire TV cube. If I switch to a TIVO system will I lose my CinemaHD, Kodi and most other apps?

Will the Ethernet give me a better more power connection on the cube, rather than just the Wi-Fi off air? Thanks!
No actually much less download speed
Nice video . One more thing the stick max also supports LDAC Bluetooth codec :-) cheers !

Bought a Firestick 4k Max on prime day for 36€ can't go wrong there.
I can't clear cashe on FC. I clear it on each app and scroll down and the numbers reappear. Any suggestions?
THE BIGGEST PLUS ABOUT THE FIRE TV CUBE IS THE Hexa-core CPU 2.2GHz + 1.9GHz, GPU 800MHz processor!! alot more power then the firestick 4k max
