The video streaming market is so saturated; companies are doing all that they can to make their streamers stand out. For Amazon, it differentiated its Fire TV products with one very distinguishing feature-Alexa.
What’s new on the 2022 Fire TV Cube 3rd Gen?
While the design is largely the same, the most noticeable aspect is that the new Fire TV Cube 3rd Generation is now fabric-wrapped, whereas the previous one I got to test was all shiny plastic.
What do you get with Amazon’s Alexa Voice Remote Pro?
The new Voice Remote Pro is a handy gadget, so you don't need to be always digging for your phone. This remote has some convenient features that make it a little more valuable than the average remote.
Remote Finder Feature
Simply say, 'Alexa, find my remote' or use the dedicated Remote Finder button in the Fire TV app, and Alexa Voice Remote Pro's built-in speaker will emit an audible ring to attract anyone's attention.
Customizable Buttons - You can personalize your remote by programming two customizable buttons and creating one-touch shortcuts to favorite apps, channels, or anything that Alexa can do.
Backlighting - Motion-activated backlighting automatically illuminates the buttons when the remote is picked up in low-light settings, which is great.
Dedicated Headphone Button - A new shortcut to the on-screen Bluetooth menu lets you pair your wireless headphones fast enough.
Integrated TV Controls - Control power, volume, plus surf live TV with dedicated channel buttons, all from a single remote.
Press and Ask Alexa - Use your voice to find your shows, open up apps, manage volume levels, and control compatible smart home devices.
Overall review: 2022 Fire TV Cube
Overall, if you already have a Fire TV Cube, you will probably not need to upgrade it. However, if you're looking for a new streaming device, this is a pretty powerful package for you.
The Fire TV Cube is easy to set up and it also operates easily with your voice commands or the included Alexa remote. I absolutely LOVE to control this TV with my voice, in the kitchen where I'm usually cooking. Being able to call out commands to load up TV shows is a huge help.
You get a tonne of streaming channels on this including CanCon, RUclips, and Netflix.
The downsides? The Fire TV is quite big and bulky, so it would definitely not be an ideal solution for a wall-mount TV that has no furniture under it. Also, since you need to keep the Cube in line of sight for the remote control to work, that's also a consideration if you're wanting to buy it.
Even then, I definitely recommend the 3rd Gen Fire TV Cube to you if you're looking for a reliable, powerful 4k streaming device that has lots of content options.

Can the Dish Anywhere app be downloaded to the cube?
TECH ISSUE: Excellent video Erin! I got my Alexa Cube to pair up with my sound system, but for the TV she does not answer me through the CUBE, she answers me through the TV speakers. I want her to answer me always through the CUBE. What am I doing wrong? I have an Alexa Fire TV by Omni. Omni was not on the TV pairing selection, so I chose Fire TV when I paired it up to my TV. Thank you for your help!
You can change which speakers reply to you inside the Alexa app.

Can you play music without it going through the tv?
Good question. No you can't.
As someone who ended up disappointed with the performance of the 2nd gen cube....20% (corporate inflated) isnt going to get me to switch back to fire tv. Even on prime day (im in USA) for gen 3 amazon is asking $110 US which is a $30 us premium hike compared to gen 2. Apple finally lowered their tv box prices which made them competetive & a better alternative. Whoever is in charge of fire premium hardware prices is doing serious drugs. Their newest 11" fire tablet is in the mid $200's US now.....outrageous.
IT'S PRETTY GOOD AS A GENER AL PUTPOSE STREAMER. .... HOWEVER -- Will Not negotiate Power-UP & Power-Down in a Home Theater even though it has HDMI 2.1. The Hard Wire Ethernet Port is ONLY GOOD TO 100 MEG BITS.....Most of us are running 1 GIG from Our NET. But it renders the Older Firesticks Pieces of Junk.
