      Because she's pragmatic about things. Sure it's Shar's curse but she realises that without Isobel's protection of the inn, things are just unnecessarily harder for your group. She might enjoy some protection form the curse but the rest don't and she knows she needs them

    I feel sad I was robbed of the conflict, but I stumbled on a way to keep your party mostly happy and kill her. I completed Nightsong's Dark Justicier mission for evil and I guess the result was that the city falls and Isobel dies to the shadows. The Butler is still pleased and gives me the new form, and the party only grimmaces about the new form but doesn't scream at you for murder like this video. So I guess you can win this mission via butterfly effect in a manner which the party doesnt blame you for it.

    Shadowheart's dialogue in response seems off considering the shadows are of Shar's doing... unless of course, she had already spared the one who is part of her quest (trying to not give huge spoilers here) so her, both lamenting over the death of a Selunite cleric and being mad for you letting Shar's shadows do their work seems to be inconsistent writing to me...

    • @Tyrantofthewind
      @Tyrantofthewind Год назад +14

      Shar is twisted and capricious by nature, but often does not appreciate the direct approach or being unsubtle. Murdering the cleric and then watching your allies (and resources to fulfilling a larger mission) vanish all on a whim seems very much against her way of doing things.
      Moreover Shadowheart herself is contradictory, like most actual people, and will often say or act in opposition to their supposed views. This being one example among many.

    • @chrispetersen4863
      @chrispetersen4863 Год назад

      @@Tyrantofthewind I suppose that's one way to justify it...
      Considering the MC did it in a room by themselves, without the other party members present, and successfully lied about it (thus keep it a secret... Shar's forte I might add) also makes the reactions of the rest of the party out of place. As an aside, Shar can be VERY straightforward when she needs to be, as several learned during the First Sundering, if I recall my lore correctly.

    • @chrispetersen4863
      @chrispetersen4863 Год назад

      Also, as I think on it, the method in which Shadowheart and others are tasked with to earn the mantle of Dark Justiciar is about as straightforward as it gets when it comes to the final test. The other tests definitely touched on other more subtle ways and measures, but the final one is as brutal and unsubtle as it gets.

    I just finished encountering Isobel, and I am playing Dark Urge (but as "Lawful Good" as I can because Drama 😅)
    It was curious that I didn't take a long rest after getting to the Inn, and, try as I might, I couldn't save Isobel when the Flaming Fist came for her, but the game acted like I had been the one to kill her anyway.
    Doesn't matter; I Saved Scummed, went back and kept her alive, and got that encounter with the 'Butler' with that night's long rest (but decided to see what the full effects of her dying would be).

    • @TheAfc666
      @TheAfc666 Год назад +24

      You don't even need to loose Jaheira. I killed Marcus first, then all the flying monsters and Isobel last (there was still a cutscene where her body is taken by one of those flying ghouls despite all of them being dead). After that, you can flat out tell Jaheira you did it because you love watching people die or you can pass some persuasion checks. You'll get into fight, because everyone in the inn will turn into undead - if you manage to keep Jaheira alive, you can still tell her to meet you in your camp and she'll join you. Alternatively, you can also admit that you wanted to see everyone die. Dark Urge honestly has some amazing dialogue options.

      The way I did included some thinking outside the box.
      You can actually complete the entirety of Act 2 without ever stepping inside Last Light Inn, Jaheira even has some unique voicelines in the moonrise towers if you did that.
      What you have to do is : Find the Drider Patrol somewhere in the map, kill them all and free the pixie in the lantern. She will give you a blessing similar to Selune's blessing that will allow you to explore freely of the curse. That means you can do the entirety of the map content before the abduction (I did it in 1 day, can't confirm if her abduction is a timed event). You can powerlevel you character to lvl 9 or 10 if you clear the entirety of moonrise towers (you can shove guards off the cliffs).
      I don't recommend skipping the inn though, you get a lot of approval farming in it, plus 2 traders and some quest info. Just don't interact with Isobel, clear the map and cheese the fight with your OP characters (also keep in mind Isobel doesn't need to be reduced to 0 hp for the abduction to occur, the winged horrors have paralysing attacks and if she gets the ailment and an enemy touches her again, you fail the defense).
