Betraying Karlach after she volunteers to become a mind flayer has to be the most evil thing you can do in the game.

Most evil thing in this game is returning Scratch to the kennel and its evil handler lady in Act 3. When I saw this dialogue option, I got a bit mad at Larian.

@@deificjinx The humanoid host of the tadpole is dead once transformation to Mind Flayer is over, this is literally the worst ending. If u want happy ending go with her to Avernus and find the blueprints of the secret forge.

@@skandre7776theres conflicting lore on this. Dnd has had alot of writers but the lore that says the soul lives says it either becomes traped in the body or moves on to the afterlife and the body becomes a souless husk. The third is what i beleive your saying and the soul just goes bye bye.
Wish we could have seen more of the ending of us going to Avernus with her. Side by side, hand in hand, facing down the legions of hell, together.

There is such ending. I played as Karlach and romance Shadowheart - and she suggested goes to Avernus with me. So, kinda happy end...
DLC idea
I got a super weird ending that was not displayed here. I upgraded her engine and Wyll became the Blade of Avernus but since my character was Astarion, he did a zig-zag run out of the sun before the Karlach cutscene. This resulted in her doing the "goodbye"-speech alone and then blowing up with Wyll reaching for her but failing to do anything about it.
You can also get that if you become Mindflayer and off yourself.

I actually felt so sad watching the player betray Karlach in those endings
It's actually sad to see the quest unfold when we kill Carlach on behalf of her pursuers in Act 1. The protagonist literally holds her severed head in the cutscene. I was horrified when I watched all the options for the development of the plot of her.
@@GXRALT I did that in one run and you couldn't see the head in the cutscene. my character just placed it on the table but it was out of the camera's view. this was a couple of days ago.

Of any characters deserving and needing a good ending, Karlach was it. Betrayed, sold yet always up to fight for the good of others. Fucked by life doesn’t begin to describe her whole experience.
Yet, I feel like the best ending remains if you follow her with Wyll to Avernus. At least you get to stay together, and she can be rid of the loneliness part. And if there is any possibility that Larian could release a short DLC I would definitely petition that we get as new objective to find Karlach’s heart make her whole again. Then it’s all about escaping the hells another time.
One can only wish. For a “hot” minute I almost thought we could use the crown for that, but nvm.
I wrote almost the same thing. She's such an amazing character. She deserves better and I like the idea of going with her to Avernus to restore her and bring her back
It's the best ending because she gets what she wants, really: to go out on her own terms, fighting side by side with friends, not with a whimper, but a bang that'll shake the fields of avernus. Also Zariel is probally scared shitless because by the time Wyll, Tav, and karlach reach her....They'll all be level 20 probally
The "Resurrect True" spell has in its description that it restores lost limbs/organs/entire body if needed. I wonder why Whithers couldn't do that for Karlach. Or just any priest who can cast a level 9 spell. This could be done even after her death by burning after the final battle. All you needed for that is a diamond worth nore than 25k gold. Wtf, game, i had like 40k in chest at the end, wouldnt think for a moment to spend it all to get her back...

I could betray the emperor but betraying karlach even after she volunteered to transform into a mindflayer just blows my mind that's beyond pure evil even more knowing after all she is been through and how nice she is

When Karlack says "I love you more than anything. I saw" and then she gets cut off by pain I always wonder what she was going to say that she saw.

Karlach going to Avernus witb Tav is my personal good ending for her. Even without Illithid powers, Tav and Karlach are extremely powerful warriors who even managed to beat a devil. While Raphael is not even close to be as strong as characters like Zariel, I think if Tav and Karlach do not try to intervere with higher forces, they have nothing in hell to fear.
Also if you rescued hope you not only have another ally, but also a nice place to stay 😊
I'm kinda curious about Raphael's relative powerscaling.
He might not be as strong in traditional sense, but he has some wild shit going for him:
- He's the Mephistopheles' child.
- He's very good at this whole Devil thing - even through the game we can see how well he plots, how he expands his forces, we even help him recruit one of the assets - and no matter what we do, he ends up being recruited.
- His fight has one tiny, tiiiny thing that might be game-changer. "Ascended Fiend". I've yet to find any info on that, but if you put it on the same relativity scale as "Vampire - Ascended Vampire" it changes everything. It will also justify his whole power plot and ability to efficiently use Crown to it's fullest.
This, except I did Wyll + Karlach. He actually volunteered to cleanse Avernus so him going with her made perfect sense (and I had romanced somebody else.) I bet he became a Vengeance Paladin down there to replace his Warlock powers, he's got the Charisma for it.
@@seeinredI mean he needed the Crown of Karsus- the most potent magical artifact ever created by a wide, wide margin- to get the nerve to make a move against Zariel. Beating him definitely makes Tav and company look pretty tough, but it's definitely wishful thinking to hope they would be able to kill Zariel on her home turf. It's all headcannon so as far as you're concerned whatever seems the coolest can be what happened, but based off the DnD source material it's basically impossible for Tav, Karlach and Wyll to kill Zariel in Avernus. *Maybe* Ascended Astarion, Crown of Karsus Gale and Chosen of Bhaal Durge could pull it off, but Karlach and Wyll without his pact are pretty much the two weakest members of the party by the end of the game lol
If you think there is nothing to fear is Avernus you are very sadly mistaken. Not evil the most powerful Devils enjoy life in Avernus.
If they find Zariel's sword and return it to her she gets redeemed
It would be amazing if you could go back to the house of hope, and find her there, including all the other companions that may have met their end during your play through.
Romancing Karlach them going to Avernus with her to fight the armies of hell side by side is a ending so metal they even played a heavy metal version of the main theme.
You can even go to Avernus with her and Wyll, loved that ending the most
I got this ending too!!! both will AND my character went with karlach to avernus. it seems this is not an ending a lot of other people have seen...
I also had this ending when another player in our group went with her and Wyll.

its sad there isnt a ending where you are able to upgrade it a 3rd time, but instead of using 1 infernal steel you needed to collect every iron you could find in the world

game already have voicelines for REAL good ending
so, let's wait for update or maybe somekind of GOTY edition, where her quest will actually work
@@Kosheyaka Guaranteed they will release a Definitive Edition which will add all of the cut content back into the game that will allow you to get better/different endings. They did the same thing with the Divinity Original Sin games as well. It's only a matter of time. Hopefully by then we will have several more bug fixes to fix performance issues in Act 3 and the memory leak problem, and full mod support. Even better is if we get an Act 4 somehow...like all the events of Act 3 get split in half maybe? (Because there is a LOT of quests to do in BG)
I was absolutely sure we'll be able to do it with that "extra" averno iron that was dropping from the Steel Watch. Had it till the end and it was never adressed for anything but selling purposes :c

@@KosheyakaShe means the enriched infernal iron, or whatever its called. It drops in act 3 and you can only sell sadly
There are more endings for Karlach which aren't currently available because the area you need to go to in order to trigger them was removed from the game EXTREMELY late in production (like, during the last month before release), meaning that you can't properly flag her storyline as completed and get the "good" endings where she remains as a tiefling.

Larians style when it comes to storys and the people in them is skewed hard.
They love evil barstads that gets ''redeemed'' later down the line, and good people die, hard, in their settings.
Had the same issue in Divinity 2, all the charecters there where utter arseholes.
Yes, even Lohse is a arse, she willingly exposes other people to danger because of her '' i dont give a crap '' mentality, its immature and offputting.

@@javierdelacruz3758 SOME of that was intentional, it's designed as more of a sandbox compared to act 2 in particular being very linear, but yeah if the whole city was there that'd flow together much more cleanly.
(Cazador's mansion, for example, was supposed to be in the upper city, not just... perched on top of a wall.)
"Karlach" isn't alive when the mindflayer takes over her body. That's the tadpole. It took over her body and memories, but it's not her anymore.
You're missing the ending where it's Karlach who becomes the absolute and says "In my name"

Me, as a dark urge who denied bhal and romanced Kharlac, after she became a mind flyer and after the end of the game, had a cutscene where she asks me what will we do now and if i still love her now.
sadly in mind flyer lore it isn't karlach, but the tadpole ate her mind and memories, so it thinks it is karlach, but she is gone.

The fact that the BGM being played is called "I Want to Live" kills me.
The betray option is gross and infuriating. Who can seriously do that to sweet karlach.
Cause she's annoying af. The main complaint I have with this game other than act 3, is the fact so many people in the game are so "good"... No one seems like a badass at all, despite most these people having been warriors/soldiers most their lives, no one seems like they've even been in a fight. Especially people like Karlach and the other tieflings.... Literally from hell, demons, devils, and they're unrealistically all sweet and nice except Zevlor whos semi like a real character.
@@whatNtarnation90Tieflings aren't literal devils, they're a regular species that just happen to have a fiendish ancestor. Aside from their blood, there's nothing even remotely devilish on them, their actions are their own and they aren't compelled to evil by anything other than sometimes society treating them like trash.
Your view on them summarized the average citizen's impression on Tieflings and I don't even blame you for that. Most people in-universe think they're just devils, when they are, in fact, not at all.

Astarian is pure evil, will delight in random killings and the like, Gale is a goody two shoes, Wyll is a goody two shoes, Shadowheart is probably the best because she isnt quite as one sided but still good leaning. Minthera pure evil, Laezel evil leaning with random goodness that feels out of character (helping the lady in the burning building because "soldiers good"). No neutral characters except maybe shadowheart.

@@Sdogofdoom I had the opposite problem with it, none of the characters are pure good maybe except Shadowheart after her redemption. Gale is a power hungry fool thinking he's good but actually easily manipulated and is just narcissistic overall, he never thinks of others and always self-centred. Karlach, is the most kind hearted amongst the group but also power hungry, has that weapon mentality where she always has to kill and is pretty much an anti-hero. Which I think is cool but doesn't go well if you're going for a pure good playthrough. Wyll is also self centered and is a fool for heroic approach, he doesn't care much about the cost if it means he gets to play the hero. Lae'zel is a fascist alien who always thinks her race is always right, and if they're wrong then it's because someone else from her race is right. Astorion and Minthera are just pure evil. There's not a single character who is a true good person, they're all wrapped up in their own worlds and are too obsessed with themselves and their perspective. Which makes a lot of sense for the narrative, and pretty cool overall to see them try to do everything just to survive but it would also be really cool to have a single pure good character. We have like two pure evil characters so why not a single pure good companion? Still, it's just my own nitpicking so can't really blame anyone for it.
For Ending 3 I didn’t romance her but I got the chance to go with her to Avernus

In a world where True Resurrection exists there is no bloody reason we couldn't actually save Karlach.
Well, there's technically no reason we couldn't remove the parasites from the beginning of the game. They flee the body on death, so the party could just take turns killing and resurrecting each other after the parasite flees.
The story is good, but that's a HUGE plot hole.
They can just open karlach, remove her engine and rez her back

@@MilliardoVD Datamined content shows that not only did Karlach have a full ending where her infernal engine was fixed and that she survived, but that most of it was fully voiced and complete. However it required triggers from the Upper City portion of Baldur's Gate and when that was cut, so was Karlach's Act 3 storyline. What we have behind have been confirmed to be Karlach's "fail state" endings which were meant to only play if the player neglected her quest chain.

Divinity 2 had the same issue, but they were mostly fixed with the definitive edition. I hope BG3 gets the same treatment and they flesh out the cut parts.
Personally I went with her to Infernus, my paladin and her will be just fine down there.
Considering how the official module "Descend Into Avernus" ends at level 10, I'm pretty sure two level 12 characters are more than fine. Especially since you're a Paladin who's super effective against Fiends and ESPECIALLY if you're a Devotion Paladin, who eats Archdevils for breakfast.
Missed one. If you don’t upgrade her engine but Wyll becomes the blade of Avernus and you leave with laezel. Wyll saves karlach by taking her to avernus to find a cure there
my boyfriend and i got the burns in front of you ending and it legitimately took me 2 months before i could even consider another run of BG3
I think I had a similar ending to 4, although I upgraded her infernal engine (at least I think so). But I didn't play with Wyll, he died before I met him in act 1 and I didn't want to resurrect him. In my case, the one who asked about her at the end was Shadowheart. Karlach also didn't appear there in the final scene saying "it's over" or among the companions who help in the previous battle
The house of hope should have been an option.
There is a dialogue about this option in game. After you kill Raphael and if Karlach with you, you can say "Karlach, how about you stay here?" and she answers like "I dont want to stay a minute more in Hells, lets go back please. If not Raphael then another devil will be running this place soon enough".
She really. Really. REALLY. doesnt like Hells. Who would have thought?

And this is why I’m never completing BG3, I got the giddy “I love u too” after the 2nd upgrade and s*x scene. But I learned that I can’t completely save waifu Karlach, and magically time stoped for us lol. This sucks…DAMMIT LARIAN!

I never romanced Karlach, chose Wyll as the future Duke and upgraded her AND still was able to reach Avernus with her.

Larian said doing anything past level 12 would be very problematic.
7th circle spells can affect world in ways they coudn't possibly account for, such as planar travel, or regeneration spells.
Get to level 17, and you could wish to have Karlach's problem solved.

@@Medsas Zariel is a fallen solar. You won't kill her with a level 10 party. Those flying "scyscrapers" in the prologue? All that is her army.
So the best ending in the game for Karlach requires her to become a Mind Flayer, absolutely sodding wonderful.
technically having wyll become the blade of avernus and going with karlach to the hells would be the best ending because now there are two people there to help karlach

I like the last ending because the the best plot twist that I ever see in a video game plus Dungeon Keeper vibes af
For me I'd just be happy with a patch that adds a more expansive epilogue post-Netherbrain battle that shows what happened to all the companions and primary characters and the rest of Faerun that we passed through (such as showing how the lands around Moonrise Tower look if we cured it of the shadow curse), and that they they expand Karlach's quest that actually lets us fix her engine involving the Enriched Infernal Steel that some Steel Watch units dropped and the Gondians doing their super-engineering magic to fix the engine with those materials, giving even more reason to save them from the Foundry as well a better reward for destroying it/eliminating the Steel Watch. Give me those things, and this would be my game of the decade easily.
I guess the best ending is go to hell with her...and become Doomslayer! :D

I just finished my first playthrough and when she started burning up I thought I had screwed up and was getting the death scene, I was freaking out so bad😅 her ending just blew me the hell away

I feel like dark urge and karlach going to avernus is her best ending. The dark urges kraving for murder can be sated by devils and karlach doesnt burn to death. This is obviously assuming you maintained your baalist bloodline.
In my game as mind flayer Dark Urge I selected the "go into hiding" option and ended up going to Avernus with both Wyll and Karlach.
Oh shoots I'm currently playing as Karlach! Looks like I'm going to Avernus.
You can combine the first two as well. My monk Tav, blade of avernus Wyll, and Karlach are tearing Avernus a new one until she gets a new heart
I finished the game an hour ago. I didn't romance Karlach, Wyll did not become the blade of Avernus and I upgraded her engine and I still took her to Avernus. Not sure what I did differently but I was very happy her and I get to kick butt in Avernus.

So sad. I honestly hope Tav/TDU (maybe as a mind flayer even? lol) + Wyll + Karlach in Avernus is the expansion being considered. That sounds like the one reasonable high level adventure after all the power crazyness in the base game. Lae'zel goes with Orpheus, Gale rebuilds and gives the Crown to Mystra, becoming her chosen for that. Shadowheart is the one looser end in this. But all of them could be part of the story at some point. Hope and her house fit in very nicely in this as a base of operations and connection to the material plane. And the story could further explore Zariel, Mizora, etc.

Wyll literaly cucked me, Karlach was my romance partner and I wanted to go to avernus with her but the game didnt let me say that because wyll told her to come with him the fuck.
they changed it in the 2nd patch so you can go in place of Wyll.

Karlachs story in act three primarily took place in the "upper city" zone, a zone that you may notice is not in the game. Thats because it was all, ALL cut lat moment. Meaning all her "good ending" got cut to.
She had a good ending, but it got scrapped (at least for now) due to time constraints. They will prob fix it at some point.
They'll patch it in patch 2!
i still find it funny that when you have her go mind flayer(which honestly makes her character op a bit) she is still full I SHALL SMASH YOU...(unless you went full chaos and respeced her into another class lol)

Hmmm I don’t have any of these. She was on the dock and said a few words but that was it. No fire or anything. In the epilogue she’s in Avernus but it doesn’t sound like she’s a solider under zariel more like she’s on the run of in hiding maybe. She seemed really happy.

I had romanced someone else but had Wyll become Blade of Avernus and upgraded Karlach. In the ending sequence after the big fight (she wasn't in the fight), Minsc just asks "where's Karlach?". Did she die? I thought she'd go to Avernus with Wyll???
I just did the endgame and I think my Karlach ending actually glitched out. My Tav became a Mind Flayer and left with Lae'zel to Wildspace. I can tell from context in camp afterwards that Karlach wound up in Avernus, but does anyone know which cutscene plays beforehand?
Sorry but I had a completely different ending with Karlach. For me, after saving Baldur's Gate, Karlach was persuaded to go back to Avernus with my custom Charracter to clean up the place. She smoked a cigar there with my charracter. and ran off into the sunset with a battle roar. So she survived.
I was very happy about that because I was always looking for a solution to Karlach's problem.
You can also get a different ending to these if you play as Karlach.

@@Spychopunk2077 I just finish my Karlach playthrough romanced Shadowheart and she was breaking with me for not rescuing her parents but I told her I was about to die and she said we could go to Avernus together not the best ending but at least she's with her lover
I didn't have Karlach in my main party, but upgraded her twice. Cuz why wouldn't i lol? Wyll wasn't in main party, but he became BOA. Happy they ended up in love when they came to the reunion. It did make the sting of letting Bae'zel go save her people hurt a bit though
Almost feel that Karlach's good ending is going Squid. Especially if you play her origin and it will narrate her fantasies, thoughts and how she actually feel it is her destiny once she transform, and before then she can have had sexual fantasies about being a mindflayer and doing things with her tentacles.

They really fucked Karlach over in the end with these endings. I hope they actually give her the good ending she deserves. They had it already made and planned before the release, they just decided to cut it.
I would have loved an option even if really hard, to fix her engine so she'd have a happy ending without fighting - she had enough of fighting in the hells.
I wish that maybe Orpheus had a wish spell saved for her or something, or one of the gods we got on the right side with would restore her to her former self before she even got the engine placed in her.

Is there really no truly good ending for Karlach? She's absolutely the best character in the game, in my opinion, she deserves a good ending. Maybe they can make a DLC where you go to Avernus with her and work to restore her heart and bring her back.

Karlach was missing in my ending, really disappointed :\ Gale said she was missing or something like that and that I should say goodbye to her, I did all her quests and everything. Shadowheart didn't even appeared.

For people that have played Larian games, how likely is it for them to add post launch content rather than just fix the base game? I only know they acquired BG years ago and made a third one 22 years after the second one was left to dust by the previous studio
Going off their past games, highly unlikely that we will get any further story at least in the form of expansion. Who knows though, with how well received BG3 has been maybe after some time passes they'll work something out for everybody.

it does but 99% are just minor variations. there is a large amount of unique ones tho
Sadly they cut most of interesting path to wrap up the otherwise masterpiece. Hope they will get back evrything they had to cut because Hasbro made them rush release and more.

Well when the actual ending is only like a few minutes of VERY shallow dialogue, who gives a shit lol. Act 3 over all was SUCH a disappointment. I wish I just did the main quests and wrapped it up, all of it felt like filler except raphael

I'm still mad there is no happy ending for karlach. we tried to fix her engine for her entire questline I hope they give us more option down the road to he defenitive edition.(if they make one)
