ELO really is a good go-to group for exacerbating certain feelings with their music. This is good for feeling hopeful, Blue Sky is good for when you already feel good and Don’t Bring Me Down is excellent for when you’re feeling like you want to get somewhere with a purpose OR when you don’t want to be messed with. I’m 36, born ‘84, not a band from my era at all, but certainly one I found on my musical journey that speaks to me.
My overall favourite ELO track, the melody, the counter melodies , the intricacies, of the orchestra and choir, the fifties influences , the call and respond vocals , the Philly soul feel, and a great tune, all combine for a spectacular pop record i feel is unchallenged in its brilliance.
When my best friend and I were about 16, 17 we would drive around listening to the "oldies" station. This song came on and just became ours. We had it full blast! I'm 31 now and still always think of her when I hear it. We're both moms now, life is busy but I wish for another day of strolling around in the car with ELO.
That’s sweet, reminds me when I was 17 we would skip class and ride around and this would come on the radio. I’m 63 😅 and wish I could go back to those days too.
@@mamayoung91 I am so glad to hear young people like our music! My daughter is 25 her playlist is mostly 70’s music, because I play it all the time she loves it too. Rock on.

I was born in 82, a little young to have grown up with them, but I discovered this band and I love them. Bands from the years I was a baby actually are some of my favorite groups.
I remember in the late 80s my dad got me and my brothers in his big old MK2 Granada and drove us from Dagenham to Tilbury to see his brother, our uncle George. We went in, he had a beautiful Boxer dog and had just recently bought a lovely powerful separates system. He played ELO songs. I fell in love with ELO at that time. I was around 8 years old. Little moments in our lives really shape us more than we realise

I agree, and now they're a 'hit-the-RUclips-"like"-button-making-machine'!
And somehow never had a #1 hit. Total BS.
Jenn Cooke - Xanadu got to #1
Wonderful song!
Amazing songwriting,
harmony,instrumentation,
and production.
Jeff Lynne is the best,
and can still sing the songs
IN THE SAME KEY at 76 YEARS OLD!
Amen.Thank you,Jesus.
I had the 8 track on this album, I'm 58 years old folks. Great album!

OMG , you made me laugh with 8-track ! I am 62 and I had quite a collection too ! Remember how the song would stop, the track would change and it would start again ? I guess we were so happy to have portable music for our cars, we didnt care !
This song is so good.
so DAMN good!!!
yes
I'm 15 again.
+Lou28100 stay away from Jimmy Savile
Who's Jimmy Savile???
I'm only 17 but still have very fond memories of ELO, I would usually listen to them while staring at the night sky with my dad, just the crackling bonfire, twinkling constellations, and some sweet ELO
I’ve just turned 40 years old and this album shaped me into who I am today. Thank you Mum and Dad for playing it on repeat ❤
That's awesome. Your parents had great taste in music 🎶🎶
To me this is the best ELO song. The chorus sounds fresh and creative no matter how many times you hear it.
Drove from Philly to Indiana in a blizzard to see my BF listening to this on the Turnpike when I was 18yrs old. "Slow down" lyric reminded me to watch my speed due to accumulating snow & "smokies"! Geez! The things we do when we're young! Thanks for the song ELO!❤
Who else listens to their music every day??
i do
I DO
Carol Belton me to
me i do
And I refuse to start listening to country music just because I'm getting older like so many of my peers. I don't care if people think I live in the past! This beats the hell out of country!
Soooo good!! What I wouldn’t give to go back the 70’s, best music ever!!
Life was so easier back then
60's remember the Beatles
@@jimerrigo7142 sure, I was more of a Kinks fan myself, I’m partial to the 70’s though as I was a teen. No matter, 60’s 70’s the best music! Cheers!
One of the greatest band in the 70s. A gift from God. A great band in the earth long time ago.
One of the best groups ever. The 60s & 70s were the best!
ELO was more 70's and 80's.
The Brony Wiking so sad if that's the way so you've got me rounded coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee lots of coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee
Barry Sullins I agree I love elo. my dad introduced me to them and many more bands of the 60s and 70s like Chicago, toto, beegees and a lot more.so much better then new music
Alex Kolenda to much of anything is bad.
Barry Sullins saw them in around '74, guess it was. I believe that it was them and Bachman Tuner Overdrive and ELO played first.
Love ELO ! 2-6-24 ! So does my grandson Anthony😂😅😊
This song reminds me of my daddy! Miss you terribly
The most underrated band in the history of Rock and Roll!!!
Alan Parsons Project is the most underrated band actually
1978. This was played in Mrs Beebes music class. Loved it then as now.
Electric light orchestra was much ahead of there time
ELO one of the best bands ever! So glad I was a teen in the 80s best music and best times of my life. People in general were good back then and happy!
My overall favourite ELO track, the melody, the counter melodies , the intricacies, of the orchestra and choir, the fifties influences , the call and respond vocals , the Philly soul feel, and a great tune, all combine for a spectacular pop record i feel is unchallenged in its brilliance.
1 of the best 70s groups
One of the best groups ever 👍😊
The best ever!
@@classicrockfan8034 I am so glad that I was alive to witness this music as it happened. I am a huge ELO fan but my number one all time is Boston
@@julenepegher6999 that's amazing!! Thank you for not judging me for being so young. All of the kids born in the 80s do :( ELO is the greatest!!!
@@mamayoung91 I am so glad to hear young people like our music! My daughter is 25 her playlist is mostly 70’s music, because I play it all the time she loves it too. Rock on.
You know your bad ass music👍👍👍👍👍
Ha Ha the oldies stations when I was 16, 17 were song from the 50ies. Stay young with music
ELO will never ever get old for me! Grew up listening to them while living in Panama Canal Zone and it always brings back to those fun childhood memories running around at night playing tag and just being a kid. ❤
É isso aí...bela história
ELO, I'm still listening. So many memories.
I am 55 and I loved the late 1960's and the 1970's! I miss those days gone by.💛💚💜💟
yes, those were the days
Another great song! “Days Gone By” by the superlatively talented Gerry Rafferty...

I am currently 28 years old and I have always loved this song. I've been listening nonstop for about 6 years!
sheer beatlesy genius.
É isso aí amigo❤
I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this song
1977 - i was 12 when this song came out.......i played the viola in the orchestra......it was a magical time now that i look back at my blissful ignorance of the world.....like heaven.
Jeff Lynne with the most beautiful melodies, harmonies and innovative production. 😍 there’s about 80 hooks I love it 👍🔥
I was born in 82, a little young to have grown up with them, but I discovered this band and I love them. Bands from the years I was a baby actually are some of my favorite groups.
GOOD music transcends all decades and centuries Remember this👍😊
I was born in 84 and stuff like this is what I grew up with. And i still listen to daily. Aint no shame lol
Welcome to the club. I was born in 1951 and grew up with ELO. They are unbelievably good.
ELO was my introduction into rock n roll. They were new to radio and I loved every song they did
In my mid teens when this band was at its highest Elo 's music will always be so special. Jeff lynne a brilliant human beeing may god bless you!
What kind of a human it takes to dislike a song from ELO & that too this song! Unfathomable!
"Ohhh no no" ~ brilliant vocal. Had this when it was new and all these years later I still find myself singing that one part. Just awsome.
The entirety of the great song that also stuck out the most for me
Double album.......Triple pleasure !!!
I'm 61 now but I cruised the streets back in the 70s with ELO!! Still lovem today!!
I'm 40 and late to the party. I listen to all genres but just heard this song a year ago and it's definitely made me a fan of ELO!
30 years old and I've jamming to elo for years. They dont have a single bad song.
And that's not just the liquor talking.
This song just takes you to a different place.
I was thinkin', thinkin' about the lonely nights. Don't know what I'm gonna do. Some music from the past is so intense and personal. This sure is. ELO-what a great group of musicians!
