Saturday, May 25, 2024. Hello all ELO lovers. I bought this album when was released. Ive played it quite often ever since. Im 66 years old now. But, this music never stops rockin.
You could give the likes of Ed Sheeran an entire millennia and he wouldn’t be able to come up with a tenth of the creativity and originality in this one song.
John Lennon and also Paul Mc Cartney once said that ELO is what the Beatles would have eventually sounded like if they had continued as a band into the 1970's and beyond.
No they are not really underrated, well maybe to younger millenials. But I'm betting you when movies (for ex GOTG has Mr Blue Sky in it) includes their music or any other old musics, these young millenials will start to appreciate the musics and you are not gonna like it because they are gonna fill the comment sections with their fantasy bullshits
Those VIOLINS is what got my curiosity, then these synchronized voices, and then the whole song.. Definitely another beautiful song.. Then I was hook. ELO💕
Jeff Lynne (who said he didn’t like movies with violence or sex) apparently threw his hands up at the end of the film when this started playing and said it was the best film he’d ever seen! The song is great in that it sort of reflects on Eddie/Dirk’s journey and where he’s been and where he is now (although did he and the others really grow?)
WSP yeah, it’s the whole thing, things are better than when they were at rock bottom, but did they learn anything? Although maybe they feel more comfortable with themselves than they did at the start with their identity and who they are within the “family” and maybe that’s enough for them (which you could say is symbolised through finally seeing Dirk’s Dong at the end lol)

Good taste, my friend! Some people are just born with it. Jeff Lynne is the magic your heading. He's also part of the Traveling Wilburys. He's doing a Farewell tour. US dates look to be Aug-Oct 2024.
If you slow down your life and listen to this song in its full glory ... taking time to soak in every instrument, every transition ... marveling at the orchestra-band integration (unparalleled among rock bands) ... noting how smoothly and seamlessly they nail the re-entries to rock from the orchestral moments ... how the backup vocals are positioned in such beautiful harmonic tones, and in just the right moments to be their own instrumental contribution ... how the recording manages to keep the soft and gorgeous sound of the acoustic guitar strings out front, even inside a very large band mix ... the individual elements, the full and complete sound ... just all of it ... you will come to appreciate the wonder of this band and the genius of Jeff Lynne behind it.

All talk about the Toy Story 4, but...in Boogie Nights...what a scene sounding this song! This song is immortal, don't matter if you put it in a great movie for kids and adults, or a film about porn....this song link with everything with good vibrations in life.
Chelsea Balli Haha this is not true, Jeff Lynne denied that meaning for the song on an interview. But it's normal because the songs have severals ways to understand them n_n
I heard this on the radio when I was a kid and liked it a lot, even though I had no idea what it was about. I was struck by the augmented chord at "thing to lose " -- a chord that was very rare in the popular music of the time. Even then I was a music nerd!
This songs use as the closing track to Paul Thomas Anderson’s BOOGIE NIGHTS perfectly encapsulates everything the film is about: life, taking chances, looking ahead and learning from looking behind… it also exudes the kind of “beyond disco” flavor that the music of the mid to late 70’s had, and that is perfectly, lovingly captured in the film. I mean this with respect to ELO, it’s like 70’s pornography, classed up and nurtured on steroids. I love this music.
@@TheCompleteMental I'm pretty sure that she is insinuating that this is quality music or this is what music should be in contrast to modern music. Might take a few brain cells to comprehend that but, perhaps I am mistaken and you are actually agreeing with her and are complementing the song in some way.
Im using a bit of deadpan snark, must not have picked up on that. I've no doubt that she meant that in contrast of the music of today, in which case I have to call the existance of juvenoia into account. Plus the fact that many musical pieces in any time period are forgettable and bad, we do have some gems of today if you're willing to look and not read a book by the cover. But yes, this is a fantastic song
I saw ELO in Las Vegas right after this album was released. I was in front of Kelly Groucutt and he seemed real tall and his vocals were perfect. I will never forget that show. I was with my best friend Phil who is now gone. RIP.
First time I recall hearing this song was when I was 8, it was a few days after my bird died and I started getting teary eyed the moment I heard "It's a living thing, it's a terrible thing to lose". However the fact that it's such a good song made that sadness turn into a bittersweet feeling.
Grew up with this song when it came out.. forgot all about it as an adult.. and on fluke, managed to reconnect to it through Guardians of the Galaxy Video game. What an amazing connection and it brought me back to an amazing song and time in my life. What an effing freaky world we live in. Music over 40 years old now has been rekindled because of a video game.

All talk about the Toy Story 4, but...in Boogie Nights...what a scene sounding this song! This song is immortal, don't matter if you put it in a great movie for kids and adults, or a film about porn....this song link with everything with good vibrations in life.
I am a star. I'm a star, I'm a star, I'm a star. I'm a big, bright shining star. That's right!
perfect ending to a perfect flick
ELO is like the production of the 70s and it’s more disco-like sounds mixed with the genius of the Beatles and their style. It’s really great
True greatness, reminds me of being young.
Fall of 1976 for this song which is one among many in the soundtracks of our lives...
Amen to that brother!
This song always makes me smile.
Max Perdue I have to agree
It's actually not a happy song, it's about pro-life vs pro-choice hence, abortion.
Chelsea Balli Haha this is not true, Jeff Lynne denied that meaning for the song on an interview. But it's normal because the songs have severals ways to understand them n_n
It always makes me cry, for obvious reasons and it sucks because it’s a great catchy song
all of their song make me smile
I've loved this group since my schooldays in the 1970's and still love them today - awesome!
I heard this on the radio when I was a kid and liked it a lot, even though I had no idea what it was about. I was struck by the augmented chord at "thing to lose " -- a chord that was very rare in the popular music of the time. Even then I was a music nerd!
This is kinda music which never gets old and die
“ I'm a big, bright, shining star."
Such a futuristic sound they were for sure ahead of their time.
I can't tell how many 100's of times I have heard or listened to this song since my childhood in the 70's, but EVERY TIME, goosebumps.
I don’t know why but I just love that “don’t you do it, don’t you do it” at 1:50 🖤
I think I like that even better than the one at 2:52.
This song is like magic.❤️
Truly is ❤
“Oh, I’m rolling and riding, and slipping and sliding…”
I see what you did there
This songs use as the closing track to Paul Thomas Anderson’s BOOGIE NIGHTS perfectly encapsulates everything the film is about: life, taking chances, looking ahead and learning from looking behind… it also exudes the kind of “beyond disco” flavor that the music of the mid to late 70’s had, and that is perfectly, lovingly captured in the film. I mean this with respect to ELO, it’s like 70’s pornography, classed up and nurtured on steroids. I love this music.
Shout-out to my homies who haven't seen this band on Acid 😉🕶️☮️
Absolutely love ELO even after all these years. Jeff Lynne is brilliant!
Got a hold of this album when I was 14 in 1980 and I wore it out!
there's just something about that violin and cello/horn mix in the intro...genius
Dang, music has gone down the toilet. I miss when awesome new songs use to come on the radio.
this is music
not whatever ppl say it is today
Jeff Lynne's ELO the best ever!
Ok? Someone with a quarter of a braincell can see that
@@TheCompleteMental I'm pretty sure that she is insinuating that this is quality music or this is what music should be in contrast to modern music.
One of my never gets old and i can listen to it a million times songs..Been a favorite since the day it was released ✌️🥳🍻
I saw ELO in Las Vegas right after this album was released. I was in front of Kelly Groucutt and he seemed real tall and his vocals were perfect. I will never forget that show. I was with my best friend Phil who is now gone. RIP.
RIP Messer Groucutt
First heard this on the radio back when I was in England in 2018!
ELO is my all-time favourite band, love every song so much.
First time I recall hearing this song was when I was 8, it was a few days after my bird died and I started getting teary eyed the moment I heard "It's a living thing, it's a terrible thing to lose". However the fact that it's such a good song made that sadness turn into a bittersweet feeling.
IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS SONG!!!
Not a single got damn person here brought up Boogie Nights....i'm getting old.
Jason Johnson *waves* I’m here from boogie nights
Cuando oigo esta música siempre recuerdo el film " Booggie Nights ", del director Paul Thomas Anderson.
✌️This at the end of Boogie
Nights was so great✌️

Im 88 - and i still love ELO - up lifting group - now give me a fiver Jeff Lynn
Any positive comments will never rise to the level of this group. They are other worldly.
