Everyone knows " Mr. Blue Sky", but only a few klow ELO. This one, Turn to Stone, is truly underrated. I mean, listen to this guitar, the rythm, the perfect harmony. I'd like to have known/heard it during the 70's, but I'm so glad to discover it right now in the 20's when ever I want, where ever I want. Knowing it in the 70's is priceless, for sure. But listening to it right now, is also very good. Think about it, about the CHANCE with have to have access to EVERYTHING, where ever we want, when ever we want.
Saw them in concert at Detroit last night. I've never been a big fan of ELO, but experiencing this music live was nothing short of transforming. When the music really *hits* you - all of the different parts, in all their complexity, that *SHOULDN'T* work together according to your logical brain, and yet somehow they DO - it's a real spectacle for the senses. I can really hear the genius of it, now.
I can always remember my childhood holiday trips to Cornwall in the summer and our holiday CD had this song on it. Passing Stonehenge on the way there with this playing was a bit special.
This song made me fall in love with ELO. I wish I could have grown up in the 70's. I was born in 2001, yet all of Jeff Lynn's amazing music is what makes me truly happy. I wish music nowadays was this good.

Their crowning achievement. Or should I say "his crowning achievement.' Everything after this was a letdown. The preceding albums from Eldorado on were incremental improvements. But when you thought it couldn't get better than A New World Record, along came Out of the Blue!

The genius of Jeff Lynn has just been an amazing gift to the world. Not only is he responsible for most of ELO's many, many hits, but also writes and produces for countless other artists. Jeff Lynn for the win lol.
I am full on convinced that this is the best song of all time. ELO isn't even my favorite band, but I cannot think of a single song out there that tops this
ELO favs change because they've got so many uber-songs. But If I was forced to choose one specific track, I'd probably go for Eldorado plus Eldorado Finale.
I remember listening to this song while shoveling snow last winter, but suddenly I realized it was actually 40 years ago. Be careful kids, this time contraction will happen to you, too.

The album, this song in particular, was the soundtrack for my flu that I had beginning Christmas Eve of '77 which lasted until it was time to go back to work on Monday, January 2, 1978. Every I hear "Turn to Stone" I remember feeling like I'd missed that whole period of time. Thank goodness that my wife nursed me back to health.
The intro of this song is so dope. It pulls you out of your comfortable space and lifts you into the sky soaring on the groove. Such an amazing song. Out of the Blue is one of a kind. Truly a rock opera masterpiece. The End.
You see David, this is proof that it's never too late to discover the masterpieces of these fabulous musical years ! (Not forgetting the 60’s, obviously...) I listened to this record in loop in 1977 and at 65, I still listen to it as much.... 😊 ♬ 👍
In 1980, when I was only 3 years old, it was two 8-tracks that started me on music. Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" and ELO's "Out Of The Blue." "Rumours" would introduce to me everything that I would love about pop/rock music...the melodies, the harmonies, etc. "Out Of The Blue" introduced me to all of that as well, but with very other worldly elements, such as the synthesizer, electronic effects, the orchestra and choir. To Jeff, Kelly, Bev, Richard, Hugh, Melvin, and Mik....thank you for this masterpiece.

ELO was probably the most underrated band of their era..which was MY era, as well..I was 12 when this came out, and remember it SO well! WHAT times they were..I instantly associate this with roller-skating, at the rink on Friday nights, in Redding, Ca!

I heard this song once. And i have been trying to find it for 1 year now. and then my dad put this song on. finally!
If you don’t love ELO get out 😂❤
I can always remember my childhood holiday trips to Cornwall in the summer and our holiday CD had this song on it. Passing Stonehenge on the way there with this playing was a bit special.
Lee Warner: Cornwall is such a beautiful County, we used to take trips to Devon County....good memories
Imagine... this is the first song of the album! And already starts on full gear! Amazing!
This song made me fall in love with ELO. I wish I could have grown up in the 70's. I was born in 2001, yet all of Jeff Lynn's amazing music is what makes me truly happy. I wish music nowadays was this good.
This song is a masterpiece. I love Jeff Lynne and ELO.
Suddenly I'm back in Highschool again. Great song, as are all of ELO's tunes.
me too...
too right man
i feel like its Sunday night, ironing my crease in Levis and patterned shirt, aqua net hair spray fer my disco hair!....i graduated 1981......cough cough,,,,don't hate me
high school sucked for me, I just graduated
high school sucked for me, I'm only 18 and I just graduated
Lyrics:
The city streets are empty now
(The lights don't shine no more)
And so the songs are way down low
A sound that flows into my mind
(The echoes of the daylight)
Of everything that is alive
(In my blue world)
I turn to stone when you are gone
I turn to stone
I turn to stone, when you comin' home
I can't go on
The dying embers of a night
(A fire that slowly fades 'till dawn)
Still glow upon the wall so bright (turning, turning)
The tired streets that hide away
(From here to everywhere they go)
Roll past my door into the day
In my blue world
I turn to stone when you are gone
I turn to stone
I turn to stone, when you comin' home
I can't go on
Turn to stone when you are gone
I turn to stone
Yes, I'm turnin' to stone
'Cause you ain't coming home
Why ain't you comin' home
If I'm turnin' to stone
You've been gone for so long
And I can't carry on
Yes, I'm turnin', I'm turnin'
I'm turnin' to stone
The dancing shadows on the wall
(The two-step in the hall)
Are all I see since you've been gone (turning, turning)
Through all I sit here and I wait
(I turn to stone, I turn to stone)
You will return again some day
To my blue world
I turn to stone when you are gone
I turn to stone
I turn to stone, when you comin' home
I can't go on
I turn to stone when you are gone
I turn to stone
I turn to stone when you are gone
I turn to stone
Turn to stone, when you comin' home
I can't go on
I turn to stone when you are gone
I turn to stone
What an era. Somebody please bring back this music.
Yes, please do 🙏🏼
Watch me
Well it hasn't gone anywhere...
Still have all my vinyl's, anyone else? And the player to play them on, you can't hear that on a CD,💜💜💜
@@ryangreene2159Yea, this specific music hasn’t gone anymore, but really no one is making music like this anymore. So in a sense it has gone somewhere. Most of todays music todays hold a candle to oldies like this.
Anyone else on a old jam binge?
Yup....crazy 😊
That's my Playlists, 60s and 70s😊
July 2024. 1am and reliving my youth😊
🙋♀️ Meeee!
Yes...right now...faith, hope, peace, and love started it all.
the first song that gave me chills for the entire duration with the bass cranked up. seriously. bass keyboard riffs are perfection.
this one and Dont bring me down................................love these guys
He wrote this song when Medusa told him their relationship wouldn’t work.
Only intellectuals get this joke. I love it!!!
@@raymofarrell19 Only intellectuals? That's a bit farfetched.
@@TheElefanteBranco sure ok, I mean it's on plenty of videos but do you get the joke?
@@raymofarrell19 Come on, you seriously expect a bunch of older people who obviously like ELO to understand modern-day memes that make little-to-no sense from an unknowing standpoint?
@@JeffarryLounder it isnt a meme joke lol its Greek mythology
Why does this not have more vie?, it is an absolutely beautiful song. ELO ROCKS!!
Saw ELO in Nashville last week (10-11-24) and Jeff's music still made my skin crawl. Fantastic !!! Jeff along with Brian Wilson are music genius's !! Long live ELO !!
This is an excellent album by a great band.
sure is
Their crowning achievement. Or should I say "his crowning achievement.' Everything after this was a letdown. The preceding albums from Eldorado on were incremental improvements. But when you thought it couldn't get better than A New World Record, along came Out of the Blue!
Out of the blue= the best album and songs period.
Go mets bruh
Don't agree that everything after this was a let down. Time is a classic
My fathers favorite song. I love & miss you Daddy.
jennifer petti Sorry for your loss.He had taste in music, top band and tune.
@@Robbiewa-bg4lu Thank you.
Your father had fantastic musical taste ❤️
Ah man that hurt way too much I know how that can feel, it never gets easy losing somebody like that. Listen I know you probably will never see this comment but Man I wish you a happy and prosperous life and hope you find meaning in this messed up world of ours and always remember the the happier things in life
Thank you
I remember hearing this masterpiece and Don't Bring Me Down when I was only four or five years old and been looking forward to hearing it again and I am 44 years old. A true classic stands the test of time and this band proves it.
The genius of Jeff Lynn has just been an amazing gift to the world. Not only is he responsible for most of ELO's many, many hits, but also writes and produces for countless other artists. Jeff Lynn for the win lol.
The eternal music and genius of ELO and I never get tired of listening to it. I'm 58.
I am full on convinced that this is the best song of all time. ELO isn't even my favorite band, but I cannot think of a single song out there that tops this
One of my albums of all time.
Their songs were very catchy. Excellent melody and harmony.
The only band to combine progressive rock with disco. Groovy stuff!
Without a doubt my favorite ELO song!
Mine too, Orion!
ILOVE EM ALL
orion deschamps I remember when this song was just released in the good days 70,s:). A lot of today's music is garbage...:(
orion deschamps between this or show down for me :)
ELO favs change because they've got so many uber-songs. But If I was forced to choose one specific track, I'd probably go for Eldorado plus Eldorado Finale.
This is an excellent album by a great band.
Suddenly I'm back in Highschool again. Great song, as are all of ELO's tunes.
Elo sounds incredibly fantastic every time out as Jeff keeps the music so fresh as though it was 50 yrs ago. Keep lighting it up Jeff
I remember listening to this song while shoveling snow last winter, but suddenly I realized it was actually 40 years ago. Be careful kids, this time contraction will happen to you, too.
Boy does it EVER! 17 at heart and 62 by the damn calendar
😂😂😂
Yes it will im 68 now and the Rock Festivals and Concerts iv been to..it blows my mind..with of course Woodstock 1969 being the best..it helped me get close to Janis Joplin Jimi Hendrix more than any other group there..the Pictures i have WOW!!! So many..
Already hitting 30 and still having dreams of high school. So it gets worse? Can't wait.
Only 40, your a youngin, try 58, but still feel 25! Keep on moving, no time to slow down!
As a native Brummie, I can safely say we are all very proud we gave the world E.L.O. Bostin' ent they!!!!
He opened every one of his albums with a Kick Ass song!
Fabulous classical work of art. One the most genius pieces ever recorded
Awesome band ❤️❤️
The intro of this song is so dope. It pulls you out of your comfortable space and lifts you into the sky soaring on the groove. Such an amazing song. Out of the Blue is one of a kind. Truly a rock opera masterpiece. The End.
I'm 41 years old and I have only just discovered ELO. They are amazing.
Easily their best song. The unexpected acapella in the middle still blows my mind. Yet Jeff delivers it perfectly everytime live.
Great music. One of my favorite bands
It was a great time in America when this song came out!!!!!!!!!! I'm 57,and it's still just good now!
This is the song that got me hooked on ELO. Got "Out of The Blue" for Christmas that year.
Still my favorite album.
You see David, this is proof that it's never too late to discover the masterpieces of these fabulous musical years ! (Not forgetting the 60’s, obviously...) I listened to this record in loop in 1977 and at 65, I still listen to it as much.... 😊 ♬ 👍
My favorite ELO song

What a way to start an album. Absolutely electrifying and euphoric.
How can the new generations not love this music?
I love and i am 19 years old
Many have been sheltered from and not exposed to talent.
I’m 23 and I love this song
23 here and this album is in my top 5 of all time.
Oh trust me, we love it. It's multi generational.
I am 60, and i remember going to school with these tunes and lyrics in my head, they made school much better for me, thank you ELO
Can't stop listening to the damn song!!!
Favorite ELO song without a doubt
It's been mine for months! Can't get enough of it
Mine's "Livin' Thing".
that 13 second musical intro never fails to impress me. sounds vaguely menacing.
My word, this sound must have been mind blowing then, its fantastic now...
ELO was probably the most underrated band of their era..which was MY era, as well..I was 12 when this came out, and remember it SO well! WHAT times they were..I instantly associate this with roller-skating, at the rink on Friday nights, in Redding, Ca!
53 and still Love ELO. I will never get tired of their music!
THIS IS REAL MUSIC!
Jeff's double tracking on this is pure genius.
Elo is actually of the greatest bands of all time. I've wanted to see them since a kid in late 70s on rollerskates..they had so many hits. And now Im gonna see them many years later in 2024 in Palm Springs for their final world tour. Almost brings tears to my eyes hearing this song and thinking this Saturday I'll actually see them after all these years at Acrisure Arena :)
An unsurpassed and futuristic style...a classic and electronic mix
One of the great moments of rock music.
