Head Boom Pro tennis racquet
--------------------------------------------------
Weight (unstrung) : 310 g
Balance : 31 cm
Swingweight : ?
Head Size : 632 cm² / 98 in²
String pattern : 16x19
Beam Width : 22 mm
Stiffness : ?
Length : 68,5 cm
String for the test : Head Lynx Touch 23 Kg
The Head Boom Pro falls into the demanding racquet category, with its heavy weight and medium size, but in this category it is an easy to play racquet that delivers a good amount of power.
The racquet is semi-powerful, the maneuverability is excellent, access to top spin is easy and the racquet is very comfortable.
I would recommend the Head Boom Pro to players :
- with a good level of play, advanced players, maybe intermediate players but not beginners,
- who are able to play with a racquet that weights 310 g unstrung during a whole match without fatigue in their arm,
- with a good technique, rather big and loose swings,
- who are able to use the weight of the racquet to generate power,
- with a flat game and intermediate power or who use top spin with power, the racquet is really designed for the modern game with power and top spin,
- who have a two-handed or one-handed backhand, the maneuverability is interesting for the one-handed backhand,
- who are looking for an easy access to top spin,
- who want a rather heavy racquet at the same time rather powerful,
- looking for a good maneuverability, and excellent comfort and forgiveness. Спорт
I have one right now, I purchased grip 3 with 52 pounds, it was wonderful in power and control , full comfort and forgiveness to mi arm , after dozens of tries I think this is the chosen one 😊
yes I agree, great comfort
Good review
Great, thanks!
Thank you
Great review. We found the Boom Pro to be extremely powerful, perhaps Heads most powerful racket... ATT x
Nice review as always, Jean-Pierre. Really appreciate your English contents although I also understand French :) I am also looking forward to your pure aero vs review. I am looking for a racket which gives me a little bit more spin, stability and plow with same amount of maneuverabilty and feel as my Extreme Tour. I was thinking about Pure Aero VS, Tecnifibre IGA 298 and Boom Pro
I think the Pure Aero Vs can be a good option, boom pro is heavier but if you're ok with that weight, good option also.
Great video...
Thank you !
Great review, Jean Pierre…Love your forehand ( short back swing)… Have you decided on a racket of choice, yet. I just ordered the new Yonex Ezone 100..Ciao, John🎾🎾🎾
Thanks ! I don't like my forehand :) Too short in my opinion, not loose enough. Ok for the Ezone, power :)
Thorough review! Thanks. Also curious about the MP version since it's lighter (295 gr)
I also made a review of the MP.
Salut Jean Pierre, thoughts on this frame compared to the radical pro? Coming from a blade 18x20
Hi Jean Pierre, as a fellow one-hander, your backhand is truly a beauty! Really enjoy your videos! 👍 👍
You mentioned you prefer 100 on forehand & serve but 98 fits your backhand better. May i recommend Wilson Pro Staff 100?
It’s my current stick, it’s lower powered than most 100 frames out there, yet it plays with the precision/control of a 98.
Hi, thanks for your comment. It's the head size that helps for the maneuverabiliy. I'm going to review the Yonex VCore 98 soon. I expect it to give me a good mix between power/control/maneuverability.

Look forward to your next video! 👍
Hello Pierre, nice review as allways. Lynx Tour is a heavy string. You can try a 1,20mm poly to bring weight and swingweight down. Or use TW service, to look for one that is slightly under spec. Could be the raquet I was looking vor. Are you able to compaire the controll to the Ezone 98 2020 oder Radical MP 360+? Thank you
Sorry, Jean-Pierre :-)
The string I used is Head Lynx Touch. I'm going to test the Yonex VCore 98 to see if I feel it better than this one. But the comfort was really great. Compare which one with which one ?
Sorry I meant can you compare the Boom Pro to the Ezone 98 or Radical MP especially in terms of control?
Boom Pro more powerful than ezone 98. Then with Radical it depends on the weight you can manage. Boom Pro if you can handle 310 g.
Currently using a Gravity Tour, i'm really happy with it besides the maneuverability at times as a one-hander... would this be a good alternative or is it way more powerful?
I think you should try it, not extremely powerful, intermediate.
Im using the Speed MP and put some lead tape on it. It weighs 343 grams with 6pt head light. I was thinking about getting the Boom Pro and put extra weight on it. Do you think its a good idea?
Well, first you need to determine what you don't like with your speed mp. It's better if you can have a heavier racquet by its "natural"weight and not because of lead tape so maybe for that reason you can try the boom pro. I think the power will be close.
I’ve heard this is like a Gravity Tour but in 98” (and open pattern of course). Does that make any sense?
I haven't tried the Gravity Tour but I doubt. I'd expect the Gravity to be less powerful.
Very nice review! How could you compare this one with Head Extreme tour in terms of power, control and spin?
Boom Pro more powerful so less control (if you can manage the weight as I said in the video), more solid, access to top spin similar. Maybe a bit better with the Extreme but I find it close. Feeling definitely different, the Boom feels quite more solid, much more plow through.
Im just seeking for opinions...currently using clash pro 100,, but i find it is harder to control my balls with it now,,, but i do enjoy the free power that i get using my current racket,,, ive been looking out at the new ezone 98 2022 and head boom pro,,,, because i do want a power racket with a bit more control than my clash pro 100,,, soo is the boom pro a good transition for me? Or is there other rackets that can be suggested?...i do have pass elbow issues thats why i switch to clash pro 100 but now im ready to try other rackets,,,, i prioritize power but i do want comfort and a bit more control,,, hope u can give your opinion and help me a bit... thank you...it will also be great if u can suggest other rackets than the ones that i have mention (ezone 98 2022/ head boom pro)
Boom Pro is good option to test, the Ezone 98 why not, I find it less powerful. VCore 98 you should see also, Babolat Pure Aero VS.
@@team-tennisenglish1514 thank you, you mention all the ones im looking up currently,, quite happy to hear ypur suggestion,, how about the head extreme tour? Is that racket, i should test as well?
@@zafranraziq8898 Yes why not, you could also test it.
Nice job JP in English
Thanks ! 😀
So you are going for extrme tour or waiting for sth else ? Dunlop SX300 tour 305 seems very interesting
I'm going to review Babolat Pure Aero VS, Yonex Vcore 98 and Head Prestige MP L. I expect a lot from the Yonex !
@@team-tennisenglish1514 pa vs will surprise you. It’s exactly a more control version of pa not a baboblast like previous version. I really enjoyed it except on my 1HB. Yonexes with VDM have become way too muted…. each new version disappoint me even more. Prestige MP L lacks free power.
I have tested now more than thirty of the more or less actual rackets .... and I think you will not like any of the following bunch. The MP L is not stable enough for your playing speed, you are not using that much spin, that the VCore would make really sense, and the PA VS is quite low powered with a really small sweet spot. Best wishes from Bremen
We'll see when I make the review :) The one from which I expect the most is the Yonex because I like the VCore 100 except a bit too much power for me.
@@team-tennisenglish1514 doesn’t 100 inch sticks with such thickness bother your one hand backhand ?
Did you make a decision ? Boom pro or extreme tour ?
neither one nor the other. I'll try other racquets. Vcore 98, pure aero vs, prestige MP L.
@@team-tennisenglish1514 extreme tour is very easy to swing. Why did you abandon it ? :)
Yes overall I liked but I'd like something more solid. It felt a bit hollow, not enough weight in the head.
@@team-tennisenglish1514 QC issues. Mine came with spot on balance unstrung at 31,5 but 5 whole grams off. I just put 2.5gr on the handle and 2,5 at 12 o clock.
@@TheodorosKolokotronis799 Surely a factory problem but I have nothing else than the test I did to make my opinion. I'm not sure it'll be fine after customization so I try something else.
