    Wilson Labs Project Shift 99 (300g)
    I would recommend the Wilson Shift 99 (300 g) to players:
    - of an intermediate or advanced level, not for beginners,
    - who want a racket with intermediate power,
    - with any game style but rather modern game style, with power and topspin, no need to be extremely powerful to play with this racquet,
    - players with a lot of power may be interested in the Wilson Shift 315 g, that has a tighter string pattern 18x20 that will give more control and also a bit less access to topspin
    - who want good access to topspin, without being extreme,
    - who are looking for a racket with very good maneuverability,
    - a good level of comfort, slight feeling of firmness on impact,
    - who appreciate the Wilson racquets but who lack power with the Blade/Pro Staff and who have too much power with the Clash, Ultra or the Burn or simply who don’t like the feeling with the Clash.

    I’ll give the Shift a try after the the official release later this year.
    Currently playing with Blade 98 and Blade 100. Both with lead tape added at 12:00 for more plow through. Interested to see what the Shift has to offer in terms of a touch more top spin and power.

    Fantastic review! And your one handed backhand is silky smooth. Ha wish I could hit it like that. I alternate between the Clash 100 pro V1 and the Ultra 100 V4. Sometimes the Ultra is too powerful and stiff and sometimes the clash bends too much and feels like a wet noodle and the response is unpredictable. Maybe this is the perfect “Goldilocks” between those two. Can’t seem to find a demo of this available in the USA as of yet, unfortunately.

    • @team-tennisenglish1514
      @team-tennisenglish1514  Год назад

      Thank you ! Yes, the shift can find its place between the Clash and the Ultra in terms of stiffness.

    Nice review JP, merci beaucoup. As a user of the Pure Aero 2019 who wants less power, more control, better feel and same level of stability, would you say the Shift 300g could work? Alternatively, I could also get my hands on the 2019 Yonex Vcore 100 that you played some time with and a Blade 100 V8 300g. What would you recommend?

    • @team-tennisenglish1514
      @team-tennisenglish1514  Год назад +1

      Thanks ! You could see the Pure Aero 2023, the Shift indeed or the Vcore 100 I find more comfortable. Blade 100 I've never tested. Less top spin oriented. I would discard that one. Maybe the Dunlop SX 300.

    Thanks for the review. The sound of your mic isn't the best. Camera is fine. Anyway I have a question. Between the Clash 100 and this new Shift which one would u recommend for an intermediate player that lacks in power but is looking for comfort.

    • @team-tennisenglish1514
      @team-tennisenglish1514  Год назад

      Thank you. Yes the sound is awful, should be solved for the next one. If your primary goal is comfort, I'd say Clash definitely. If you want more classical feelings and maybe a bit more power, Shift. The Clash is not very powerful, you should test it.

    JP love your reviews. The audio is worse. Sounds like this was recorded through Zoom. I saw someone else mention choppy and I agree. The microphone is probably better, but however it is being processed has affected the quality.

      Well it's not very far, I think I could have added the PA98 for similar racquets. PA98 maybe a bit better for topspin but it's rather close. Shift a bit lighter, a bit easier.

    Jean-Pierre: I strung my Shift 300 with VS Gut 16 in Mains at 52 lbs; rpm blast 17 in crosses at 49 lbs. I played a set… at first I was getting a pinging sound( don’t like), so I put on a dampener. Racket felt a little stiff; string bed didn’t pocket much, but maybe the strings need work. This is the lowest I have ever strung a racket. I am willing to try lower tensions; however, I don’t want pinging sound, and I would like to use gut… is it wise to use gut at lower tensions?.. ciao, John

    Jean-Pierre… Your backhand parfait!!! You have recommended this racket for my consideration. Can you hit flat and touch?Is the Shift 300 good for the one-hander? Do you like the shift more than the clash?

    • @team-tennisenglish1514
      @team-tennisenglish1514  Год назад +1

      Thank you ! Flat and touch I'd say yes. Ok for one hander. I prefer to the Clash not in terms of comfort even if it's correct but it's heavier and feels more solid than the Clash 100 295 g I have. That's why. I prefer a bit the feeling at impact with a ball less absorbed than the Clash.

    As someone who plays with Wilson Blade 98 (18x20) 305g 2013 Amplifeel - I have no idea if the Shift will be an upgrade since they never sent any prototypes to South Africa. Very hesitant to make a switch as it would require extensive testing.

    • @team-tennisenglish1514
      @team-tennisenglish1514  Год назад

      Yes testing would be nice. I can tell you that with the Shift you'll have more easy power and access to top spin. Easier to swing also.

    Jean Pierre: I’m testing both the Shift 300 and the VCore 100…. The VCore just doesn’t feel right, maybe a nit head heavy , not sure… will send it back and keep the Shift. I do not produce fast racquet head speed in my strokes and serve; I’d say medium. Do you think rackets like the VCore require that you produce fast racquet head speed… and would lighter frames be better for me. Ciao, John

    • @team-tennisenglish1514
      @team-tennisenglish1514  Год назад

      I haven't tested the VCore 100 2023 yet. I have the previous version and indeed it's a bit harder to swing than the Shift 300. I think the vcore 100 is average and the Shift 300 is particularly easy to swing. I like the Shift.
