@MPTennis - Cade, regarding arm pain, neither Confidential 1.25 nor Alu Power 1.25 at are going to all that arm-friendly in a medium-stiff frame, let alone at 54/52 tension. I would either look to string those lower, like in upper 40's if possible, or cross them with a softer, more impact-absorbent co-poly, such as IsoSpeed Cream. Either approach will boost comfort noticeably, while also increasing dwell time and opening up the sweet spot. If you wanted to just keep it simple and find a full-bed replacement, I would swap out Confidential 1.25 for Tier One DuraFluxx 1.23 or 1.28, or Grapplesnake Tour Sniper 1.25 for a bit crisper feel. DF strung at 53/51 and TS strung at 50/48 should give you equivalent power and control, but much better overall comfort. Hopefully that will help you find a more workable string setup for the Shift.
I measured the length of the lead tape you used by freeze framing the video. It's just under 4g in total from the 6th Cross to the 13th Cross. I'm going to try your lead setup to see how it swings on my Shift 🙂
I’m in love with this racquet too, and am switching to it, but to the 315. I’m more of a spin guy, but the 315 just gives me better plough through and stability. Plus I got one at a lower spec, so the swing weight isn’t crazy (around 328). Curious to see if you think the 18x20 of the 315 lowers the launch angle / access to spin (esp on serves).
Same experience with pain and performance of the racket... with 300 one + Alu Power @ 50ish amazing depth and ultra spin but from the serve I slowly start to develop the tennis elbow. But overall amazing and significantly more manoeuvrable than the Pro version, which gave me also pain (of course much faster due to weight in the hoop).

I am looking forward to your update on this racket😆see whether you will switch to this or not, cuz I am a one handed backhander and I definitely want a try
I'm also loving the Shift but wish it had a bit more heft. (Not as much as the 315/pro and I don't like the 18x20). For the weight additions that he did, do you just add the tape to 3 & 9 then add an identical amount of weight inside the handle cap?
Hi! Would you help me to choose which spin string is the best for wilson shift v1 labs 300gr ? Toalson Hybrid Spoon spin & control , ReString Zero or Toroline Wasabi Pink Neon? Thankyou!
Hey man it’s funny because I have been testing it for a week and first time I played with I felt extremely good and could play like you said flat spin slice and it was always in!
It's completely normal that a new stiffer racquet makes your arm sore. Every frame vibrates and resonates differently, our muscles and tendons need about a month to get used to it. The real test is if it hurts your arm after 2-3 months, but it won't, it's well made. Many people make this mistake. My personal experience took me from RF97A to Yonex VCP 330g 2019, the stiff dark blue one, then Rad Pro last gen, also quite stiff, and now Aero VS, the stiffest of them all. With all those changes my arm was tired and sore in the beginning. Well dampened string helps, the most dampened one is PTP, next best probably Rev. I also tried the ET, the one you have, and recently bought one in the Nite version, just for curiosity, and find it the best dampened stiff(er) racquet on the market, no resonance, no ringing, a really comfortable stiffer frame, a rare thing, so you can only go down from there unfortunately. But again, Shift seems like a really good racquet to me, and I'm also thinking about buying one 300, to play with it for a longer while.
I'm sorry, but I have to contradict you for the sake of others' safety. It is NOT normal for a frame to make your arm sore. If it does, one should stop playing with it, just as PM Tennis did. By the time you feel pain from a racquet, damage is already being done to your tendons. This intel is widely known by sports doctors, and we should listen to them.
I got 300 version and added about the same amount of lead as you did, played 3 times being absolutely WOOOW. And then guess what? No I have to play with another arm as my dominant arm is out at least for 2-3 weeks… 😭
I think you should experiment with different strings and tensions… I just got my Shift 300 strung with VS gut 16 52 lbs in mains/ rpm blast 17 49 lbs… I always play with this hybrid…. I have a friend who plays with this racquet strung with full poly mid-forties… loves it… convinced that you have to string low tension if you go fill poly… Please experiment and report back! 🎾🎾🎾🎾ciao, John
I played with the 300 for 5 days in a week with Champion's Choice string (gut on the main at 52 and poly on the cross at 50) and also experiencing elbow issue. Never had it with other racquets. Not sure if it's the high RA or it's because of the vibration from the racquet. I don't use dampener either. Thoughts?
I’m considering the Shift 300? Do you get spin comparable to spin rackets like pure aero and extreme mp? What’s the thing you like more ? Are you still using it? You could try a softer polyester like Tier One Black Knight or Tier One FireWire or Grapplesnake Game Changer. Or Yonex Poly Tour Pro.

It was a great racquet but I knew that high stiffness rating might catch up eventually. Maybe tinker around with the string and tension if you really think it is capable of being “the stick” lol
I'm having the same issue. I absolutely love the racquet. It has amazing power and spin and it hits incredibly well but the stiffness is too high for my arm to handle. Would love a suggestion for a string set up that may help to soften it up.

I have a copy of the Shift 315 I can ship you to try if interested. Love to get your thoughts. It swings just a little heavy for me but I’m in love with how it hits the ball as well (both of mine are 301 SW unstrung, so that’s like 333+ SW with typical 1.25 string) Currently trying to get a 300 and weight up. If that doesn’t workout I might just need to search for underspeced Shift 315
Dude, the way you're raving about this racquet, sounds like an automatic switch! I'm coming from Pro staff v13 and I want something bit easier and higher launch angle and spin. How did you find the control? Considering the 315 too...
I was curious about your thoughts about the solinco confidential strings. Have you played them in any other rackets? Also, what is your string of choice?
Thanks for the review! Sounds like an interesting racquet for sure, I'll have to give it a try 6:49 curious, do you find that the "free depth" can also end up resulting in a lack of control? How did you feel about hitting angled/touch shots?
I demoed the Shift 300 think it was. It felt like a junior's racket and that's no compliment. Sweet spot was hard to find especially on flat forehands. Finally demoed the 315g 99" prototype. August is what I'm hearing for final product. Frankly the 315 was a massive improvement it just did what I wanted and very well indeed Except for that flat forehand which is frustrating because I enjoy flatshots. Can you imagine this stick in the hands of a Ben Shelton or the Chilean newbie to the spotlight Jarry? I'm holding off hoping Wilson drills out a 16x20 as well as 18x20 string pattern. I hunch either could steady my tentative flat forehand. I don't think I can agree with MP Tennis more than I have. This stick helps me do things I never could but sweetspot hunting isn't my favourite pass time so waiting for a Shift Control racket so I can penetrate deeper to the baseline. A rumor for now but I hunch Wilson might dump the 99" stick for the better sales option in a 98" and a 100" Shift. If that's the case I'm back to square one but that's typical early adoptor challenges. Really taken with the 315 Shift it gives me weapons I never had before and never thought I could accomplish. My slice and particularly my kick serve were better than I could have hoped for. Kudos Wilson.
