- The Boyue P78 is a breath of fresh air in the e-reader world. It is basically spiritual successor of the Likebook Mars and Likebook Muses, so if you want something that excels at reading ebooks, this is the device for you. Google Play is available right out of the box, so you can get access to over a million apps. One of the big advantages of the Likebook brand is that it supports dozens of languages, including English

Honestly speaking, I prefer a non drawing pure e-reader than a e-reader with a half assed drawing layer.
I think drawing invovles a lot of complexity, and sometimes reduces reading experience, so I appreciate companies offering pure reader devices.
They can introduce separate devices with drawing support.
Regrding this device, I own a Likebook Mars. Is there a significant reason to upgrade ? Mars has warm light, so I am pretty happy with it. I may upgrade if it brings along a higher PPI (I think it was ~ 300 for Mars)
Agreed, the writing is not compared to ipad or remarkable (which is very good writing but bad reader device in my opinion after using RM1 for few months). Currently for my study and memo I prefer notability/good notes on iPad Pro 12.5, while I read non-study material on POKE2 which was excellent but as i damaged the screen, I just ordered P78. It is aggressively competitive and I like the fact of cheaper price w/o the Wacom layer. I only Highlight non-study ebooks and I personally don’t write down on them.
Another awesome review!
I like the system's elements' icon shape!
Wonder if the TTS will take the acapella voices? I use them on my boox n96
Wow! Nice device. And with play store.
Can I connect a keyboard via Bluetooth? Does it have a word processor?
Does it have a headphone jack? If I'm gonna be using something for audio books or music, it's pretty much headphones or bust for me. Guess I could plug in an external DAC, but a proper jack is always appreciated, even if the big manufacturers are trying to push their bluetooth headphones.
Hi, can you rotate the screen in all apps? You can have more than one application open at the same time?
I wish they make ereaders with physical page turn buttons like those in pocketbook or kindle keyboard/kindle 4th gen
hello,
I recently purchase thsis e-reader and my computer doesn't recognize it, should I download a specific driver ?
thank you
Could other styluses work on it? Being Android, are their note taking apps that would be installed and used with a generic stylus?
Hello, could you tell me if in Google Play it is possible to download the Nextory application and if it works? Thank you.
Is it too slow compared to Kindle Oasis?
any privacy/security issues with boyue products?
I like it
why do you want a note taking fir every reader? without note taking , it makes text more clear at night reading mode.
Boyue is in a really strong position right now. If they can nail their color debut we might see a market shift from Onyx to them.
My only problem with this device which makes me hesitate to buy is that it feels like we're at 11pm just before the mainstream color e-ink day. I can't really upgrade yearly or every two years and to completely replace my 3 devices to only one, the color aspect is still missing. But we are close, I hope :D
Is it heavy to hold? Is the text very dark and sharp, like the text on the Kindle Voyage before Amazon stopped selling them? Can you set the lockscreen to show the book cover of the ebook you are reading from 3rd party apps, like the Amazon Kindle app or Moon Reader Pro? Can you set the book covers to show on the lockscreen from the built in ebook reader?
It isn't heavy to hold, and I don't think you can set the lockscreen to show that just pictures. But yo can do a lot with this device
Do you think the P78 will ever receive an update to Android 10 or higher?
Not in a near future, but personaly, I don't see it as something necessary or important
boyue went bankrupt last year lmao
Not everyone wants a note taking ereader. It seems perfect for me
It actially is perfecr
Looks like a solid evolution to the Mars.
evolution in what? i dont see much diferent
@@RG-jm4ng flush glass screen mainly
Do you ship it to Brazil?
Buy it from the aliexperss official likebook store. They ship to Chile at least, and is the cheapest option
Does it have a warm light?
@ 4:56
It seemed to when he demonstrated in the dark, it could be very yellow or very blue
Yes
Do you know if whatsapp and telegram can be installed in this device?
Telegram works fine. Have not used Whatsapp so can't say on that one.
I love my P6 so far. Just wishes there was a way to be able to change the contrast levels when in A2 mode. It's a bit hard to read stuff when words look too washed out on A2 mode. even worst at night when reading... They should give the customers the option to change contrast levels and not limit it.
If the ink was darker in a2 mode the scren would look stained with it and probably wouldn't look good. That's whu the contrast in a2 es so soft so the ink can move faster
I upgraded to a Boox Nova 3. Fantastic unit and very fast. Still as all E-paper units, screen has delays on normal mode.
@@johnny14794 can you change the contrast level on a2 mode? Nova3 was my first option (when I decided to go for an android device), but p78 was a lo cheaper and within my budget
@@kat.inthesky Same as with any other device that can switch to A2 or faster speeds you can't control the contrast. What I did noticed though comparing my Likebook P6 vs Nova 3 is that the loss of contrast on A2 mode on the Nova is less and things are readable also less staining effects.
@@johnny14794 that's good. Sometimes I even read comics online on a2 mode with the p78 and and its not perfect, but it's good enough
Can you download some other better and natural voice over to replace what's in there?
Would have bought this if it had stylus usage
Does it support Arabic language?
Give you a like for the Boing Boing Boing.
You can say BoYeah, that sounds closer to the correct pronouciation of Boyue.
It can be better if it had note taking and stylus.
I have a P6 and though it's the slowest of the newest releases, I purchased a stylus (Capacitive), downloaded a note taking app and running it on A2 mode works fairly well. Just bare in mind that these aren't meant for Drawing or note taking so expect lags, etc.
I'd still go for kindle
Again another largely useless "review". Complaining about "no notetaking" is such bullshit. The Likebook Ares doesn't exist, right. And no comparison with the Mars was made, what's the difference in this obvious successor??
They are more focused on the note taking features than the actual reading features
This channel has become too washed out for real reviews, unfortunately. I just come here to look at the devices' looks.
What are you talking about
We have a near-6 minute static shot of nothing but the screen as we go through menus, books, pdf, manga, settings, glowlight, audio... What else do you want.
What do you consider "a review"?
Thank you
Please don't use music
