Whisker Town: Charting the Growth from Cat Enclosures to Cat Village 🏘

- This is the story of how our Catio Village or catio space was created. While we are not builders, just highly focused cat owners we have made one of the largest catios around. I am a nurse who was very determined to keep our cats safe, so much so that I learned how to use power tools to create this project. By the way, if I can do this, so can you. The efforts paid off, the cats are safe and have 3 catios to enjoy; we never have to worry about something bad happening to them. The birds and small creatures, and fresh air are enjoyed from a safe location too. Talk about a win-win! To make a catio design, you should think like a cat, and add things they would want. Our cats have places to hid, exercise, scratch, run and sleep. Old clips and pics were compiled to show how our backyard catio compound was updated, grew and expanded into this Custom DIY Catio Village.

It's nice to meet you, friend! I absolutely LOVE your Catio! I am going to have to do something similar to that for Neffy! That is so delightful! Your kitties look absolutely happy there too! I had never thought of using chicken wire, along with the greenhouse roof. The furniture is wonderful too! The lights were so lovely! Thank you very much for sharing all of your hard work with us. I'm in the process of building a catio it's been a long process of where to put it when idea was on the backside of one of my outbuildings but I didn't really like that idea because I couldn't see them another idea was to put it up in my Hayloft but they won't feel the grass underneath their feet I'm torn. You see I have a lot of cats and they all don't really get along. They have clicks and I have four clicks four separate groups of cats that don't always get along with each other so my enclosure has to have four areas but I need help I have no idea where to start how to design it do you have any ideas
Oh my goodness Tracy, you do have a few dilemmas to tackle. If it were me, I would start with one catio that has lots of places for hiding and in a quiet spot. You might find it helpful to look at our ultimate catio video for additional ideas too. It's a covered catio so we used AstroTurf, the cat seem to like it. Please let me know how things turn out.

What size wire fence did you use? I want to make sure mine can't get thru the fence opening
Hello Wanda, we use a 2x4", 14 ga wire in the project. I have a vid on roofing too.
