FINALLY thank you so much !
I am a 17year old film student and I've been looking really long for a proper tutorial on how to handle and train with the steadicam. just bought my Flycam 5000 with arm and vest. really gonna train hard to master it. again thank you !
Wow, this video wreaks of late 80's audio and video quality. Her shoulder pads are hilarious. Either way, this video is still very informative, 20 years later. :)
At last... a real steadicam course! A pearl between all 'my first seasick shots with my DIY junkcam' movies. Fullframe, if you have more of this, share it.
just search for Garret Brown. He did a lot Blockbuster Movies as Steadicam Operator
sorry Garrett Brown
You´re welcome. This is just the beginning of a course. You should find videos of Garrett Brown, the founder of Steadicam, meanwhile owner is Tiffen. He explains in a good way to understand how smooth you get the pictures. Example; in "Shining" he did all the steadicam shoots.
Wish you all the best,
fullfframe
Hi MT, "seasick shots..lol... Thank you for your comment. Well this is from a video tape and it took month to get it to a stream because of the standards. You won´t need any other instruction than that one. Just follow these training and do small clips, over and over and you will see it will work. I hope you are tall and strong enough for it. take care, fullframe
Remember that hairstyle? 1991, baby! Complete with high-waisted mom jeans, bangs, and everything!
Lauren Holly would be proud.
Hard just listening @

as old as this video is, it really helps.
you said it mission.... its awesome. looks like 90s , but very cool ... love it
Hey Folks, I read a lot of words like old and 80´s stuff and so on. Hey guys, it doesn´t matter from which time that ist. The issue about steadicam operation is always the same and didn´t change much. That means how to walk, where to watch, how to focus, how to make turns and how to adjust it. That´s it in a global seeing. I always recommend people for this job, who are tall and have a strong back. I would like to read experiences of users and giving tips to others. That´s it. so, have fun.
Hey stamstuff, there is no part 3, sorry. This explenations should be enough for all the beginners. The next step, so I would recommend, is doing projects and practical learnings. There is no a really secrect behind working as steadicam opreator. But listen, you always need an good assistant who leads you when you walk or sometimes run and does the focus over a remote.
Yes Brenda is maybe about 25 at that time. She must be now about 55.
Take care, Efgan
FINALLY a true course Thanks, Thanks, Thanks, Thanks.
Por fin algo bueno Gracias
It´s between the 80´s and 90´s. We have this steadicam sk.
Nice.
Hey Folks, yes this video is old, vintage and looks maybe funny. It has a really special look from the 80´s. But I love the 80´s and it was my time, sorry. Anyway, this tutorial is still great. Till now, all the handling and using a steadicam didn´t changed much. Maybe you have more possibilities to addjust the arm and other parts but how to use it, is strill the same.
So enjoy the video guys. Efgan
You're the man Efgan. Thank you for keeping this awesome video up.
a vest is a vest and if it works great and didn't change to much then it will be always usefull. But i think he won't have the long hair anymore...
Dude ...this is gold ..Ty man 👍
Desde los 90s que ansio ponerme y manejar un Steadicam SK o EFP,
No he tenido la oportunidad,
Ojala se me cumpla.
Very helpful!! Thanks for Sharing
vielen danken mein here fur dises teiles.
Bitte
this is a fantastic tutorial!!!
despite the 80's outfit I think it's HIGHLY usefull! Tkx for uploading!!... Dont you have the 3rd part of this tape? It seems that the exercices continues
No, sorry. That was only one VHS tape that I splitted in two parts. If you wanna learn more about to handle steadicam, just search for Garrett Brown (founder of Steadicam). He was the operator in Stanley Kubricks movie "the shining" and many many other major movies. And here is a great article
