This video is basically telling us not to do anything that youtubers have taught us. And I agree, because with their teachings all I ever got was wobbly footage no matter how much I tried. Then my body naturally adjusted according to it's needs and what I currently have is 90% of what this video teaches. And I get much smoother shots. A Pro in the Industry is a Pro and RUclipsrs don't compare. Learn from the right people. This is an amazing series! Thank you.

Picked up the glidecam after watching this tutorial & I'm very impressed with my movement & shots :)))))) Thank you so much! Now I don't walk like a duck anymore!!! Strange how different this advice is to others.
Some say "Never use all your fingers, only tap the center with forefinger and thumb"
Could you clarify whether or not you're tapping or actually feathergripping?
Some I hear say "bend your knees as shock absorption and ninja walk"
I know you say "we all need to bend our knees naturally" etc in your description, but as others have said, this isn't the advice some are giving, even big names (like Devin Graham) on youtube. They are talking about some serious knee bending while moving. In fact this shot at 2:36 is the EXACT position every other tutorial I've seen suggests.
I LOVED these videos and just got my first glidecam, but I'm trying to practice right the first time. I'm sure you're tired of talking about the knee bend at this point, but I'm just getting to this late. Thank you! You rock!

    • @StefanCzech

Hi Reepecheep. I think, you have to decide which kind of steadycam operation you like to follow.
The way I show in this series will work with very light and also with professional heavy weight systems. Work by running and also on very slow and precise camera movements. A bigger difference than most RUclipsrs ever heard. ;-)

    • @Reepecheep
      @Reepecheep 4 года назад +1

@@StefanCzech @Stefan Czech Thank you for your reply! My camera is very light, and I have been practicing for only about a day now and I find it more natural to stay upright, kind of like walking in a marching band. I just wish there were more professionals showing how to do this because it can be hard to know the "proper" technique when every tutorial says do it one way, but this pro (you) says do it differently. I'm going to keep practicing your technique! I want to get a mentor but I'm afraid they will have learned from other RUclipsrs also haha

Your knowledge of the art of using the steadicam inspired me to make better smoother footage.

Fantastic tutorial, Stefan. Interesting to see how you run your Glidecam, vs how someone like Devin does it, jumping across rivers and around mountains as he does :) I'm curious if you've seen/heard of the Glidecam accessory where you can use both hands to help support and alleviate hand/arm fatigue, the Eroz Steady Aid? If you have, curious about your thoughts. Cheers!

+Michael Kern Hi Michael, thanks for your comment. I know, everybody knows Devins work, and he have done a very good job for the comunity.
But its not the way for everybody to travel around the world and make party ;-) haha...
This webseries is for beginner and people they try hard but learn the wrong things. I think this is why so many looking for a 3axis Gimbal like the Ronin. And belive THIS ist the way to shot films. My answer to this is here: ruclips.net/video/0cZsP1CjluU/видео.html
To your question: this Eroz Steady Aid is funny. When you put ressure on / with your controllhand, you can´t make the fine art work you have to do for the operation.
Sorry, if this become to heavy, stay tuned when we will come to the arme and west support in this webseries:
      Cheers
      Stefan
