From what I've tested, I found that having different drop-time values for different situations help. For example if you are running through the woods, then a 1 sec drop time works great, versus a 3 second one used for a character gently moving through a scene.
This is the best tutorial on balancing I have watched, and I've gone through a few! This is clear, logical, and most importantly it has the right order of doing things! Almost everyone, including my manual, starts off with the camera/plate adjustments on top, but it is only by starting with the weights apart, minimum weight, fully telescoped-out drop test and going from there was I finally able to get it! I still have some micro adjustments, but it at least looks like it is supposed to now, instead of the twirly baton I had earlier! Thank you so much for the thought and detail.
Momentum productions, can u give me your email address.....so that I can mail u some important details about steadycam and other questions I have , you can clear my doubts.
Oh my god, I had a steadicam for years and I always didn't know what I did wrong, so I gave up trying. But now I'm going to shoot some video again and this video helped me tremendously. Thanks man!
Excellent video! I just got a Sutefoto glidecam for my Fuji XT2 for b-roll, music videos and other things, and from all the videos I've seen, yours is by far the most helpful and best-made. It took me maybe five minutes to get mine set up perfect after watching this. I actually just forwarded this video to a few friends as well. Great video, man! Rock on! \m/
Got a Neewar steadicam for less than $120. It looks like a molecule by molecule knock off of a Glidecam. I'm working on the relatively steep learning curve of never having done video before (I have a couple of Canon 70d's). I "get" this video and it's very helpfull but wonder why all of these guys who do them have like 18 inch bicepts

Josh, just bought a Merlin Steadicam. Man I love it! I used to fly with my own diy steadicam back in the day and for a few years now I've been using electronic gimbals. Steadicams are just so good. I paid $55 shipped from Adorama lol.
Thanks I got my gimbal for my 60D Canon digital cámara and through your demostration I managed to balance my camara, thanks for the tips on balacing a gimbal, pratice makes perfect.
So helpful videos, so great content quality, so underrated channel! Because of your video I realised that my steadicam weight wasn`t balanced properly and discovered for myself new ways of using it
Thanks buddy, ur tutorial was spot on, watched a previous tutorial before hand, which wasn't bad but he was saying add all the weight all the time as he has been using these for about 2 years so he said its advisable to,smhI did, but my stabiliser was never stable, until I watched ur video re adjusted the weights and got the eureka moment, thanks a lot mate.
Thank you for this great video! I was able to balance my Koolertorn Stabilizer with some trial and error like you said. But it was tremendously helpful in getting it quicker than guessing and spending more time than it would have. Now to practice with it. Thanks again.
Thanks bro very informative today first time I have bought a camera stabilizer n unboxed it looked like something fell.f4om outer space but now I know it better n gonna start the balancing act. But u never showed or discussed the extra weights add-on how to use th3m
Wow, he made this tutorial in 12 minutes... and eight ads... But overall, very informative. I used this tutorial to assist me in my balancing attempts.
Thanks A Lot For This Video.. I Faced Many Problems To Balance My Flycam Redking After This Video Now I'm Master To Balance My Flycam .. Thanks Again 💓
Definitely the most informative video I’ve come across. Do you have a video about adding accessories to the glidecam such as, monitor and mic? As always I greatly appreciate your videos. Thank you.
My favorite channels have content that's relevant for a long time. It's 2019, I'm about to buy my very first Flycam, and this video has been super informative to someone new to this stabilization system. Thanks for the post and please continue to make these videos!
Awesome tutorial! I just purchased a stabilizer, and needed to figure out how to get it balanced. I want to be able to shoot without worrying about batteries dying on a gyro gimbal.
@@MomentumProductions1992 I started watching your channel back in the day when you'd show off 'How To' videos of glidecams. Back then I too was into glidecams and my own DIY steadicam. Years later I still enjoy your content.
Love this video. I'm covering a stair climb race for a man who's 73 and will likely be moving at a fast walk. wondering if anyone recommends a stategy in using the laing stabilizer for this? Would be cool to see someone using it in challenging situations
OMG!! I have just balanced my Laing P-45 Steady Cam after 8 months trying. I just could not get it right and was highly frustrated. One thing I did not do. I never Gave Up. Thanks for you helpful videos
I noticed that all the Gimbal/flycam tutorial presenters has all oversized arms. Is that a result of manipulating those gadgets or it's a requirement? XD
Spinning on a glide cam isn't always a bad thing, it just means you have to pinch underneath the axis mechanism with your left hand every now and then to keep it straight.
hi thankyou im having problem with the camera swerving like drunk people when moving 🤣 it was the weight and extension of the rod that fixed my problem
From what I've tested, I found that having different drop-time values for different situations help. For example if you are running through the woods, then a 1 sec drop time works great, versus a 3 second one used for a character gently moving through a scene.
I thought I bought a trash stabilizer, but I followed the instructions and it works almost perfectly now after 10 minutes of practice. Thanks!

I have watched so many balancing videos over the years, but none of them have made sense until I watched this one. Thanks so much!
Awesome video. The best I’ve seen yet on the glidecam. Well done, sir.

Because of carrying the steady cam for a long time. Either that happens or you build up your muscles beforehand.
I got one for 50$ on amazon :D

Thanks a bunch! Wow. That's the most educational few minutes I got after spending a few hours of useless stuff from other people.
+nsj tech Oh no! But I am happy you came across this tutorial and learned :)
Thanks man, that helped 👍this is probably the best video out here on balancing stablizers.
This helped a lot! We were filming yesterday and actually did not know how to balance a glidecam so we probably spent one good hour on setting it up.
Awesome! I am glad it helped :)
I followed your instruction and I was able to balance my glidecam. Thanks a lot!.

Thankyou so much for this. You explained it so well.
Other videos on RUclips couldn't do it as good as you.
Waaaay better than the tutorial DVD that came with my stabilizer. Thank you!
C4NT1 I hear an echo! Lol. I said the EXACT same thing! 😁

I've watched about 6 other videos and this is the only one that worked for me, set my stedicam up in 5-10 minutes
Got a Flycam HD 3000 the other day, this really helped me balance.
how do u like it?
I looking for a good steadicam with good price
I like it a lot, you should maybe get a support though if you don't have one.
what do u mean by support? also i have a g7 which i understand is very light
Well for me it's a lot a stress on my wrist so you might want to look up supports for stabilizers
Prremium I shoot with a canon 6D and 24-70 2.8 what do you do mean by having support? I was also interested in purchasing the Flycam HD 3000
