@@complte6440 Keep in mind the very last scene where Arthur's in a mental hospital; in an interview, the director claims that this laugh is the only real, genuine laugh the Joker gives out during the entire movie. I think most of us know that the Joker creates numerous past experiences in his head to imagine and sees them as jokes (In the dark knight, Joker had a new story every time he wanted to let someone know how he got his scars), and DC themselves have never confirmed a true origin story for the joker. Basically: We don't know how Joker really became Joker because Arthur's stories that he's lived in his head all seem like realities that he's gone through, so if the real Joker doesn't know how he became himself, how could anyone (including the audience)? So the director confirming that his only real laugh (I interpret it as 'real' meaning the only laugh that really occurred, NOT the only laugh that was 'genuinely funny' to Arthur) suggests that this entire movie may have just been another past life experience the Joker's tragic mind has created in his head. This is my theory and tbh the only hole I can find with it is that we see the Waynes' deaths, which Joker did not witness indicating that these events may have actually happened; However I think Joker witnessed everything we've seen (the audience + in a third-person manner) because he wants to create a perfect reality in his head. This may seem far-fetched and tbh this is the first time I've ever theorized about something so hopefully, maybe someone else has a better interpretation to this 'hole'. But I'd love for you all to let me know what you guys think! (Sorry again I'm not rly good at making these haha)
i find it hilarious that the rich, the politicians, and the media were concerned that this movie would inspire violence, yet all it inspired were a couple memes

Well the next scene in the asylum is good where he kills the lady and it flashes in fine text THE END. Is pretty definitively the end of the story and shows a total completion of his arc. There is nothing after that and never will be.

At the beginning of the film "Stay Down You Freak" . At the end of the film "Get Up!!!!! You need to GET Up!!!!!!" . . . . . EDIT Thank You All For 5k Likes 😍😍😍
Bruce Wayne died in an alleyway surrounded by his parents' corpses, alone. Batman is the one that walked out of Crime Alley. Arthur Fleck died in a car crash. The Joker is what woke and stood up on top of that police car, surrounded by a cheering mob.
For me, this was the saddest scene. Arthur, or the small part of him that's left, realises that even now, no one cares about him; they just care about what they think he represents. He feels that the only way for people to even notice he exists is to become this monster. It's so sad that his life was so terrible that becoming the Joker was a better alternative than being Arthur Fleck.
Even sadder was that he was never even Arthur Fleck. His mother adopted him, and w/ Thomas Wayne dead there's no way to know if he's actually Wayne's son. To him he was no one.
Nobody noticed him or cared for him his entire life, or cared about his suffering, for all the shit in his life, this was the saddest moment of the movie, when he stands on the car, and sees all these people cheering for him, noticing him...
I find it slightly ironic that all his life he was trying to be that person that makes people laugh and society spat on him. Then as soon as he starts to cause chaos and murder and has gone full psychopath, he is noticed. It’s almost as if Arthur had to step away from his fantasy that people in the world are good enough to appreciate someone like him and step into the literal real world where everyone is insanely cruel including him. He just happens to be at the top.
@Superpiair1 1. People love antivillains, especially when they stand for the lower class, 2. history has shown many, many, many mass murderers with crowds cheering for them. From Jeffrey Dahmer and Richard Ramirez who had women send them money in jail and propose to them nonstop, to General Buttnaked (yeah, that's his actual name) he gained an entire following in Liberia while known for his decapacitating and psyciatric nonsense (like how he got his name thinking that if he went into battle naked, he couldn't be hurt by bullets). Not to mention more people like Al-Baghdadi, Jim Jones, Charles Manson, etc.
Many people here don’t seem to understand why Thomas Wayne would go out during protests against him. But it is already answered in the movie. By Arthur himself, *"You think men like Thomas Wayne ever think what it’s like to be someone like me, to be somebody but themselves, they don’t. They think that we’ll just sit there and sit like good little boys. That we won’t werewolf and go wild."* Thomas thought so little of the poor and middle-class people that he didn’t even consider them to be a threat. He didn’t consider the protest to be a big deal. Hence, he goes to the theatre and because of which he missed out on Arthur killing Murray which ended up causing riots. The riots that led to his demise.
I don't think we have enough information to make that claim. The story was told by Arthur's warped mind. It's impossible to know what's true. At the very least, I certainly don't think Arthur knows enough about Thomas Wayne to make a call like that.
Arif Faisal yes unfortunately, he died before The Dark Knight came out from an accidental drug intoxication. People think it was a suicide but it wasn’t.
@@Vision-lz4ruLmao, not canon? People like you are missing the entire point of the sequel. The sequel explored the shadow of Joker that Arthur could no longer handle, which we also found out in the end that he wasn’t the “true” Joker that would become the great Rival to Batman, but rather the inspiration (in the ending). The sequel revolving around the idea of the shadow of Joker growing too large for Fleck to handle shows that it swallowed him whole as we saw in the end of the first movie and in the animated start of the sequel. The sequel is not as bad as people make it out to be. Within the context of the themes and symbolisms, it was a solid follow up. 6-7/10.

At the last moment when he paint his mouth with his blood, smiling but he’s also crying, might looks like tear of joy, but I think it’s his last inner good disappearing and he knows he going down this path with no return, and he’s sad for the last time
Not really good and evil in this case, but more like... two broken people who had different problems in life that still led them down dark paths, one born with a mental illness who lost all support and abandoned reality, and one who was traumatized at a young age and used his anger and grief to take down the bad people instead of getting support. They both needed help, but instead they used their respective "gifts" (Joker's ability to dismiss reality and essentially trick the masses into thinking he was in the right by doing nothing at all (it does count as tricking, because you can indeed fool someone just by not saying anything), and Batman's money and youth to train and study to become the ultimate one-man-army crime fighter) to grant their desires; Joker to become the star he wanted to be, and Batman to become justice itself.
@@MadnessBomber I think joker suffered so much more than Batman, batman had a good life with their parents at least in his youth and was born in a rich family. Otherside exist a mentally handicapped person that doesn't had a father, had problems with money and society.

Throughout the film he struggles to keep it together… but In this moment he finally embraces it… leaving behind his sanity. Brilliantly shot and a masterful performance.
Thats the beauty of Joaquin Phoenix, hes up there on that car surrounded by people cheering him, and he recognizes that arthur wouldve always wanted a loving crowd, so he starts performing, and they love it, and it validates him that violence is good, so he draws the smile of blood and truly becomes The Joker.

Instead of being emphatic to them, and offering to help, he calls them clowns who didn’t do anything with their lives. He was nothing more but an elitist douche, who spat on the people beneath him, and cared nothing to improve the city.
If only Thomas Wayne showed enough compassion to the people of Gotham for haughty eyes, (Which Wayne shows by looking down on the poor people of Gotham) and a lying tongue (Since He Lied how he wanted to help the poor people in Gotham so he can become mayor) these are despicable to God.

some comic book fans argue that existence of batman gave rise to joker and other villains of gotham city. But this film proved that society is capable of doing that even without existence of batman.
yeah, that belief always frustrates me. whether you're a superhero or not, some people's lives will be wrought with adversity that tries desperately to break them. many people do break. they give up. they become the 'villains' because there's no reason to fight _for_ something. its so much easier to be the center of the universe. other people, less frequently, are hardened by the adversity and realize just how important it is _to_ fight. they become the heroes. they go the extra mile to ensure that what happened to them, doesnt happen to others. its not true in the case of every super hero, but more often than not, the heroes and villains are created by the same forces. and of all the superheroes that have ever existed, that has never been more true of anyone than it is of batman. believing that "bad comes about to challenge the good" is ignorant and defeatist. bad will _always_ exist, because it will always be the easiest option. so you'd better hope and pray for goodness, because it doesnt have any such guarantee.
@@kyrridas1573 That's probably the biggest general difference between those who become superheroes and those who become supervillains; society and the world crushes those stuck within it. Some, like Arthur Fleck, either lose the good thing/person they had or never had such blessings and thus give in to add to the world's cruelty for themselves (Venom, Captain Cold, Doctor Doom, Lex Luthor), while others such as Bruce Wayne refuse to leave the world as it is and decide to do something to fix it despite how insurmountable that may seem (Spider-Man, the Flash, Mr. Fantastic, Superman). The Batman and the Joker are really just the epitome of the subtle yet massive difference this can really cause.

Basically:
We don't know how Joker really became Joker because Arthur's stories that he's lived in his head all seem like realities that he's gone through, so if the real Joker doesn't know how he became himself, how could anyone (including the audience)?
Oh yea!🔥

That we won’t werewolf and go wild."*
Thomas thought so little of the poor and middle-class people that he didn’t even consider them to be a threat. He didn’t consider the protest to be a big deal.

True, people are so jealous nowadays, ez to create a Joker
I love how they tied Joker’s origin and Batman’s origin all together. It makes for a destined battle in the future between two different ideologies.

It’s this kind of circlejerking that’s emblematic of a society that can produce somebody like the Joker. Outright rejection without consideration, a nonpartisan issue that has destroyed the thought process, regardless of what side of the political spectrum you’re on. Both sides of the spectrum are guilty of this. Wholesale hand waving and dismissal of people without any consideration for their point of view is precisely what started Fleck’s downward spiral, the only difference being the focal point (mental illness or opposing political stance).
If ever a movie did NOT need a sequel, it was this one.

Jack Green such is the way of the rich. Giving so little of their wealth to the poor just so the media will brand them as charitable and heroic. These people don’t care about you, me, or anyone else. They enjoy the fame and attention, and the riches that come with it. They enjoy relaxing in their mansions and driving their expensive vehicles while not caring at all for those of us who struggle with even just purchasing groceries. The fact that this society puts a lot of praise into celebrities (or more so, the fact that celebrities even exist) is quite honestly disgusting. But nothing can be done about it, because in the end, people have a compulsive need for a God or an idol, and often find respite praising awful, fake people.

Todd Phillips probably thought he could do the same thing and make a trilogy like the Hangover trilogy
some comic book fans argue that existence of batman gave rise to joker and other villains of gotham city. But this film proved that society is capable of doing that even without existence of batman.
Reminds me of a line at the end of Arkham Origins, when Joker told Batman:
"We both exist because of THEM!"
yeah, that belief always frustrates me. whether you're a superhero or not, some people's lives will be wrought with adversity that tries desperately to break them. many people do break. they give up. they become the 'villains' because there's no reason to fight _for_ something. its so much easier to be the center of the universe. other people, less frequently, are hardened by the adversity and realize just how important it is _to_ fight. they become the heroes. they go the extra mile to ensure that what happened to them, doesnt happen to others.
its not true in the case of every super hero, but more often than not, the heroes and villains are created by the same forces. and of all the superheroes that have ever existed, that has never been more true of anyone than it is of batman. believing that "bad comes about to challenge the good" is ignorant and defeatist. bad will _always_ exist, because it will always be the easiest option. so you'd better hope and pray for goodness, because it doesnt have any such guarantee.
Batman can't give rise to the joker in comics batman is more like mid 20s whereas joker is more like in his 40s and was in action way before that
