    I don't think I have ever seen such a total transformation in cinema. There's nothing, absolutely nothing, of Arthur Fleck by the end. It's all Joker. It's incredible. The destruction of a soul.

      Clearly missed the point of the movie, It's everythiing what Arthur wanted him standing up the car and seeing the world noticing him finally is all he wanted. I get you enjoyed the movie and agree its a masterpiece but don't butcher the storytelling by saying nothing left when it shows in dark way he finally achieved what he wanted.and don't forget that dance. that has been always his way of 'expressing peace.

      I think it's more of him embracing his inner Joker who is this psychopathic, chaotic, deranged individual and leaving his past self which was always trying to be a part of the group and to be seen. That interview was like the final obstacle of his transformation. The killings prior felt conflicted but once he truly embraced his inner peace and claimed that last victim, killing was no longer a concern but more of a joke. I think in that scene too he was genuinely laughing for happiness and not just uncontrollably laughing from his condition. When he was on top of the car wreckage and painted that bloody smile on his face while he overlooked the crowd that was praising him, I think then, was his final transition from Arthur to Joker.

    • @ciaranoconnell4783
      @ciaranoconnell4783 5 лет назад +141

      +Fuad Kattan I disagree. There was still hope for him in various places but one after the other, it got crushed pushing him down the path of becoming the Joker. He wanted a relationship with his neighbour, he cared for his mother only for her to tell him that she abused him because of Thomas Wayne, he tried to be a comedian but his hero & the audience mocked him savagely.
      I agree that he wanted to fit in with the world and society but they wouldn't let him. But that's very different from saying Arthur & Joker are essentially the same person. If the neighbour loved him and he had a long term relationship with her, if his mother apologised and treated him better, if his hero left him well enough alone and he got a job making people laugh and was left alone without getting abused, he would still be Arthur Fleck 100%. He would still need treatment for his mental health issues but there's no way he becomes the Joker if people treated him right. Everything he wanted before, i.e., love, acceptance, making people genuinely laugh, he can never have now and that's the destruction of a soul. It wasn't being ignored by the world that created the Joker as you are claiming. It was the embrace of pure nihilism, almost as a defence mechanism after the constant abuse from every angle, and the emotional, personal destruction of everything Arthur dreamed and cared about inside himself that led to Joker. There's a quote from Fight Club: ''only after losing everything, are we free to do anything''. Everything that was Arthur is gone, now Joker can do anything. The Joker doesn't care about love or acceptance or trying to impress people he likes, all things Arthur badly wanted.

    People need to understand the fact that we actually can’t compare Ledger’s joker and Phoenix’s. The first one was in a superhero comic book movie, with Batman in it, so there was plenty of fight scenes etc. But Phoenix’s joker is all about the downfall of a man, slowly, into madness and despair. And at the end, a man who finally found a sense to his life. So, first one is all about war, second one is all about psychology. We can’t compare them, they’re both masterpieces in their own ways.

His death made no sense, and we all can, and probably will die like that, without any reason to. And if our death is senseless than so is our life. And if our life makes no sense, than it's a joke.

      They are totally different genre-wise. Zimmer's theme embodies the chaotic, unnerving, completely inhumane nature of the Ledger's Joker, which is why his theme is composed of various ambient sounds and doesn't sound melodic. This Joker is sympathetic in a lot of ways, which is why the music has melancholic orchestral motifs.

In a way, I could identify with the character, and the brilliant music heightened the emotions. I even bought a poster of Joker on the stairs. For me, it's absolutely one of the best films in the history of cinema. I think that many people loved the character of Joker created by Phoenix, because this Joker became their friend, helped to fight loneliness, depression, misunderstanding. At many points in life we feel that we can't tell anyone about our problems, that no one will understand us. Then he understood us. Joker.

    Endgame was a big budget film that had a bunch of stars, special effects, and big action sequences. You add up all those ingredients, you make a big box office hit. Joker on the other hand didnt need any of that. It only needed a small budget, the right screenplay, the right director, and the right actor to deliver an all time great performance and what was delivered? Not only a box office hit, but a masterpiece that seemingly captured the whole planet.

    My favorite scene in the movie is the second to last one. He finds out his mouth is bleeding so he creates a smile out of his own blood. I love that because I think it’s the most Joker like scene in the movie. I feel like that is where Arthur died and Joker took complete control over his body. When he killed Murray I think that was Arthur not Joker because on the show he was intending to kill himself but Murray got him mad so ARTHUR (not joker) decided to kill him instead. But at the end he completely embodies the Joker persona.

    • @StormMars
      @StormMars 5 лет назад +5

      I’d take it differently, in the first scene of the movie he’s looking himself at the mirror while painting his face, his life has been nothing but sorrow and misery, he’s trying his best at work, at home and in life but nothing matters, people are mean, cruel and awful with him even though his effort to live normally, while looking at his face he forces a smile with his fingers while he cries, he’s suffering every day of his life because his efforts are insignificant in the end.
      In the last scene he has liberated himself from the suffering the society has brought in return to every good intention he has, he finally gets some sort of recognition and attention, he bleeds but not because some children decided it was ok to beat him for fun, he bleeds because someone gave a damn about him, so he smiles, nothing can hurt him anymore, and this time, he finally feels understood

      At this point I hate Marvel. Their movies are average but they bully people with their marketing campaigns. Black Panther was an average movie that blackmailed audiences into watching it and claimed to be the first "black movie" which was a total lie. Much more talented directors in the 70s were the ones who took chances with black actors in leads and by the 90s it was completely normalized, yet Marvel pretended we were back in 1950s and used race to try to create a problem and then presented their movie as a solution to that fictional problem. They then again tried it with Captain Marvel to less success but labelled all those who saw through the bullshit as sexist this time. For a very long time they've had their army of fake reviewers give all their generic popcorn flicks positive ratings and movies made by other studios negative reviews. Before Joker was released they got their Rotten Tomato and media buddies to review Joker negatively and even went as far to try to get authorities to try to pull the movie because its "dangerous". The only danger this movie posed was in exposing how crap Marvel movies and their actors all are and the pathetic hit job on Joker prior to its release then it being a masterpiece just highlights how shitty of a studio Marvel is. If anyone ever wants to watch a Marvel movie again out of OCD needing to know what happens let me know and I'll give you a free link to the film so you can watch it while knowing you aren't giving your money to that evil studio. Honestly Marvel at this point "You get what you Fucking Deserve" with all the damage they have done to society its about time people start speaking out.

    From 2:59-3:30, it’s sounds like the last wisp of Arthur, fading away, before the blood smile, and his transformation. I never thought I’d come out of a joker movie mourning the simple, awkward, and heartbreaking guy trying “not to feel so bad all the time.” Totally assumed that halfway in he’d shed the awkwardness and triumph. But it really doesn’t happen till the very end, and for me it was far less triumphant than it was sad. Between this movie, the master, and you were never really here, JP is truly the greatest actor of my generation.
