This must be the worst review for the i30n to date
Did you forget to put the i30n in N mode? Those cracks are stupid loud for a factory car in N mode, the golf can't compete
and not to mentions the 12000 difference. imagine the upgrades you could do for 12k....how often are you going to keep touching your dash really ??? these guys need to move on.
The i30 N in the video may be the non performance i30 N with 250 horses and no sport exhaust. Although I do agree with you about it's exhaust on the N Performance.
@@ajames718 The car you're referencing is an i30 N-line which is only 200hp. All i30Ns have N mode with a bi-modal exhaust
@@steeley_ Nah pretty sure in Europe and the States they have two variants of the i30N
@@ajames718 that'd make sense as I work at a Hyundai dealership in Australia haha
please display the car information like torque and horsepower on the screen

@lange darm as long as your contents come out on the correct side you may!
Thank you!
Incorrect figures on the RS Trophy. 296bhp and 295lb ft OR 310lb ft on the EDC.
@@superspy1401 thanks will correct Nm tomorrow, bhp has been fixed
The height dimensions of the megane are 1435 if i'm not mistaken the standard one is 10mm higher not that it matters much of course
Half a video?
Is this Jason really a car reviewer , no he is just a man who looks at cars according to their brand and give his nasty decisions , the I 30 n is one the best handling hot hatch in the segment and for the price it comes and all the gizmos it gets like the electronic differential and the various setting for all the parameter of the cars , it's one the best hot hatch for the money , maybe they could have spiced up interiors a bit and little more punch from the engine ,then it would been a complete package
sanjay revanna just waiting for the 2nd part of the video - he will probably like the car a lot more. They were pretty much just pootling about on the road
@@lewisratford2908 I don't think so because when he compared the kia stinger and the audi s5 , he drove the stinger with the stability on and the s5 with the stability completely off , and said the Kia have not done enough , whereas the stinger is way better than s5 in handling
sanjay revanna I saw that comparison and think Plato made up his mind pretty quickly. Both cars aren’t for the track really and are meant to be really good road cars. Pinch of salt really as you can’t review a car in a couple of minutes just by driving it on a track. I would happily have a car that was 2 seconds slower on a track but much better on the road - which the Kia is
"This Jason (Plato) is a UK touring car driver. He is not just "some bloke" 😂
😂😂😂 Jason Plato is a multiple winning British touring car driver for the last 20 years in many different cars, i think he has enough knowledge to know a Hyundai is a pile of shit and you get what you pay for
What's with all the shakey camera, makes it uncomfortable to watch.
I thought the golf was from a meter reading company with those stickers.
Yeah im all for the golf, but the stickers are horrendous
Nice hatchet job jason on the i30N, I'm a big fan of Jason but he's way off to say it doesn't sound great....luv your face when it stuffs the tcr golf thou
Why only the intro?? In danish we call this 'Narrefisse'
Erm... A bit of a skewed review.
The TCR and Trophy are both upgraded versions of the standard GTI and RS.
Would have been better to compare the standard Golf GTI, Mégane RS and i30n maybe?
What do they expect the range to be?
Great review i love fg .
Guys, please add the new Focus ST and do it again ;)
Why have you not tested it yet?
This old timer should open his eyes and ears, the i3On has one of the best sounding stock exhaust systems on the market.
Mellow Fellow agreed
100%
It’s the best one so far than all the competitors
These two Jokers at Fifth Gear who called themselves car reviews, haven't got a clue🤔😂 i30n all the way👌
@@layne4376 Hyundai has come a long way though. Not that I'd want to own one personally myself, but they used to be a laughing stock at one point
Outdoor Layne I was thinking the same before I bought my i30n. Best decision of my life ahahah and no regrets whatsoever. They also offer 5 years warranty (2 yrs more than the likes of BMW)
Outdoor Layne yeah we have 2010 accent and it’s solid than a diesel golf 7
Missed Focus Rs! Why didn't you enter the race?
Plato, hot hatches... looks like a good video.
The Hyundai is the best out of the three end of cheapest fifth gear have it all wrong
No! What I bought is best! Not what you bought!
Whichever you choose, get it with 18 inch wheels. Or smaller. These huge wheels are just stupid.
Personal opinion. 19's on my Golf R look great
My passengers don't care about if the dashboard rattles as they can't hear it over their screams
The steering wheel is on a wrong side. I bet it also has tyres instead of tires.
Oi yankee doodle dandi, it's our language you bastardised it.

Look at that electric e brake on that golf 🤮
Megane FTW!
No Audi RS3?
Ride and comfort are Not important.
Where’s the 308 GTi?
@lange darm... I have one and its great

Giulietta Veloce?
I don't understand the "fit and finish" comment about the Golf... The Megane and Hyundai are more "plasticcy"??? And the Golf seats are plaid fabric, meaning not leather or suede...??? 5 grand cheaper because of it? I think you guys are favoring the Golf cos they probably sponsor you... Smh
Peugeot has paid them for reviews before. I'd take the i30 myself.
Didn’t top gear do the same style of programme and the same cars
Fifth Gear I believe exists since 2002, it was aired originally as 5th Gear when Top Gear(old series from 1977) was cancelled in 2001. It was meant as a continuation but then soon Top Gear was relaunched. Now they use Fifth Gear as a name. Tiff Needell for example was a presenter for Top Gear from 1987 till 2001. Vicki Butler-Henderson from 1997 till 2001.
In 2002 Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond together with Jason Dawe started the new format as we know it right now. Soon Jason Dawe was replaced by James May since he figured the show actually was popular.
( all info from wikipedia, so I ain't sure if it's accurate but hopefully it adds some information)
Where the fuck is the focus ST
Fifth gear, I do wish you would stop calling these types of comparisons a “death match”, it’s so juvenile.....
#BringTiffBack
Well the Renault has the Nurburgring record for fwd cars
Jorge 80k for trackcar with no rear seats and you can buy a Porsche caymen over it !! Lol
Where’s tiff? Who is this man?
£41k........
Anyone remember when Hot Hatches were £25k max?
That's £10k more than the Seat Leon Cupra I've just ordered haha jesus
The i 30 seems kinda reasonable
I'd have the golf, but the stickers on the tcr are awful. Thankfully it's an option as they say
Seat Leon Cupra????????
Upload the R32/130/Renault review please, so us 130 fanbois can brag and rub it in everyones faces :D
Jason Potato is so out of date in his views and opinions!!
He gave the I30N the worst review I've ever seen and didn't put it into N mode.
And he refuses to review electric cars because they're electric. He ruins Fifth Gear!!
He can drive, but yeah, he can be arrogant. I actually like him for that reason however. Can see both sides of the argument though
I agree on the i30N part, but that whole not reviewing EVs thing is great, I don‘t want to see that electronic waste.
@@GuardsRed996 is that because you've owned an EV and thought this is rubbish or is that because you're like a sheep and just follow any ideology that comes out of Jeremy Clarkson's mouth?
Chris Williamson it‘s because I drove several EV‘s already including a Model S and all of them were just boring as hell.
@@GuardsRed996 that makes no sense... I've driven several petrol cars and several diesel cars (Nissan Micra, VW Up! Etc.) and they were all boring. So by your own logic, that must mean all ICE cars are boring as hell??
VW making yet another GTi that costs more than its superior R cousin. Yes, the R weighs more, but isn't that the only real downside?
Stephan Dolby the TCR would feel waaay more nimble and hot than the R.
@@BenDover-io9vg I've heard people say that. As in it's somewhat more engaging to drive. The R is more a sleeper and impressive for launches
richboy900 R for a better all around daily, TCR for a track car you can daily.
41 grand for a golf?
I would rather trust Tiff in his reviews, the Hyundai is written off in this review yet many very trustworthy journalists rave about the car. Cannot believe they never even engaged N mode. I will listen to the likes of Steve Sutcliffe and Dan Prosser over these two any day.
Tuddie not just it’s happened last time with another review!!! Another fifth gear reviewer !! The older men !! Did a drage race and the i30N just lost to a heavy Skoda octavia
The i30n is by far the best car out of the 3, destroyed the GTI by 4 seconds on top gear and this potato didn't even put it in n mode 🤨😂
😂😂😂 he’s upset all the Hyundai owners who practice auto erotica on a car that will be forgotten as quickly as it arrived, it’s appalling, and 29k for Hyundai????? I’d buy a second hand golf and still have better resale value in 5 years time
Lol yeah I suppose VW will always be remembered for gassing everyone .....dieselgate yeah. European cars have a terrible resale in Australia.
So it’s not a real fact 😉
Resale value and practicality lol such a golf thing ha ha
i 30n still the best there, goft to expensive for the package, its a hot hatch not a luxury vehicle its sporty not class. i take the i 30n all day then the yellow fever, golf need to wait on the tigger woods in me lol
How often has someone really cared about the quality of the material on your dashboard....get over that crap.
#wherestiff
Bring back tiff
I just came on here having wayched the show on tv to read comments from golf fanboys as it got eliminated. Tee hee
A Leon Cupra ST costs about as much as those cars and leaves them all in the dust.
ShotDown hmmm...doesn’t it have the same engine as the TCR though ?
lange darm exactly- if you peel off the SEAT logo on the engine cover it reveals the VW logo. The SEAT just won’t be as nice at all inside as the Golf
Only in drag race !! Yeah
@@popsandbangs8858 The Cupra ST has 4x4 so no, not only in a drag race. The only one to beat the Cupra ST around the Nürburgring is the heavily modified Megane RS TROPHY-R, which costs almost 60k and has horrendous lift-off oversteer. Please don't make comments if you've driven none of those cars.
ShotDown I’m talking about standard Leon cupra which is already expensive 🐸
Well that was a waste of time!!! WHERE'S THE REST OF THE REVIEW???
Lol a golf vs a Hyundai after 100,000km. Hmmmm I know which one will stand the test of time. Germans can't balance reliability and performance it's a common known fact amongst people who fix them, mechanics. I hear the same garbage from reviewers and owner's of European cars about quality. "Feel the way the door closes" or the "plastic is cheap" and the list goes on. What about the R&D and refinement of what's under the bonnet to keep a car reliable and cost effective to run while balancing performance. European cars have a terrible resale in Australia. Sorry euro lovers the Koreans are catching/caught up.
The death match was surely referring to Jason’s blue shorts shaved 🪒 legs and Peach shirt 🤣 come on man I thought you were cool 😎. I might even send you some of my old clothes and you can dress up as me on New Year’s Eve instead 🙈
I’ll have the golf thanks
Really bad review I’m not going to lie.
cuvic type r
Wow what a terrible review. Not bothering with the second half
The Type R is better than these 3 cars
Such an ugly car
But it’s ugly and sounds quietly as electric car
Where was the Deathmatch? Terrible
I can't stand the new guy.
Isnt he one of the formula one commentators?
@@PuffinDragun69 yeah, amd he's an ex f1 driver
Ridiculously overpriced!
