Awesome video. Really considering selling my z fold 4 to grab this guy. Iused to have a sony maybe 6 years ago and loved it. I also just picked up a used like new sony rx10 iv for $350. What a steal. Its my first real camera and have been wanting to get into photography for a few years. I thought the Xperia what go hand in hand. Right now amazon has the us version for $1200 and international for $800. I think i might go international save some money and sacrafice 5g. From reading only att in seattle i have most of the bangs. keep up the good work

I've thought about getting one of the fold devices but I'm just not confident in the durability yet, regardless of the tests they put it through lol
@シービーちゃん | Shibi Chan You know that what's everyone says in regards to durability. I had the z fold 3 for 2 Yeats no issues and z 4 is holding up no issues. I would say do it. Or possibly wait as theirs rumor that sony might be working on one. And well Google has one in the works.
I love the way you are explaining things. Would you mind if you created a short practical tutorial on how to set up Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO based on different environmental lights? there is no such thing online, and everyone just explains how to use the App or simply what those terms are. almost most of them are useless, even in photography courses!!!
Great friend ☺️ for you it easy because you are photographer familiar with the dslr camera and knows how to edit. For us beginner, still in learning. Im rely on automode for fast result if shooting people or things fast.
Mainly use mine for music through its speakers when I'm at my desk, the base is deep and punchy while the non base is full of clarity. Work great at 80% vol.
I absolutely love my 1iv, an currently on a trip to florida and trying to vlog with it, unfortunately I've finally experienced some over heating an have actually had the camera shut off a few times.
Glad you're loving it! That sucks that it shut down on you though. Hope it doesn't become a standard thing! If you didn't, I recommend turning off data if you know you'll be filming for longer than a minute or two. That's what I do and it didn't shut off on me in some pretty hot ambient temperatures
Ah, I guess the overheating won't be an issue then in bitter cold UK. That's a good tip on recording longform videos while in airplane mode, I do it all the time for my projects to save battery and prevent calls while recording.
I have the 1 iv and it overheats for me. Yes, it can record about 10-15 minutes before shutting down. Then, my thoughts are...how much life was lost due to overheating...it's like taking your car and driving the crap out of it, you know the lifespan just went down. And, being an iphone user for 10 years, I am frustrated with transferring files and so many folders. I can now see the benefits of iOS. But, I LOVE THE COLORS AND CONTROL. The headphone jack. The screen. But, then the battery sucks. Ugh...Sony is like the beautiful girlfriend who's really difficult. Good video BTW! Thanks
Thanks so much for watching! I feel your pain. Except you can never sell me on iOS. I absolutely hate it. Plus being able to emulate is basically a necessity for me. Love my Mac, but man do I hate iPhone lol
I'm really hoping the next gen will have 200mm reach, as with that you basically have all range covered They really need to put out the overheating optimization on their phones.
uhm, to get less of the green tint turn ur white balance on middle. Not d65... The colors are more accurate and on middle. Additionaly you can turn on the night light feature. Set it to a very minimal value, till whites look less blueish and more like d65. That should help :)
The green tint is an Android 13 feature. Settings --> Wallpaper --> Wallpaper & Style -->Basic Colors --> Click the only option there to go back to the non-green tint
Hi! Can you please tell me the name of the song at 5:03? I really like the look of your edited RAWs. Such a capable device for imaging but I wish it was a bit less expensive :(
I've been looking over the Pro-i, then watched numerous comparison videos to 1 iV just to get me more confuse to choose. Now just few more days for 1 V to be unveiled, some vloggers been talking about the dual layer sensors, I think I need to hold it until that. And then maybe Pro-i coming up after that before end of this year ? Gahhh😂
Yeah at this point you may as well wait for the 1V 😂 I wish they would just say whether or not they'll make an updated Pro-I, because that's the one I'll want to get. 😮💨
You can't choose to switch it, but the display only renders in full 4K when there is 4K content on the screen. Otherwise it renders in ~1080p, for things like home screen and navigation
3:40 - about that green tint, I see a lot of posts on reddit about that but mine is totally fine. When I go into Creator Mode it gets even deeper dark and warmer tones and on 120hz even more enhanced
I'm totally jealous. When the 1V drops, if I have another overly green screen, I may just get it traded or exchanged. I'm tired of it for so many generations lol
@@ShibiChan that's actually strange, because I have one of the first available devices in EU and I was sure mine will have all the issues and I only had that overheating problem, until it was resolved by CPU clock throttling. And yeah sometimes I get that blurriness while using 85-125mm lense but I figured out it has something to do with stabilization.
I really like the design of sony phones, and I'm very tempted to go for the Xperia 5 v or iv when my current contract runs out. The only thing that's making me a bit wary is their lack of software support. If you're going to spend a thousand or so euro on a smartphone you want it to be supported for more than two years.
Thanks for the video, I really appreciate it. Thinking about buying a used one in 2024. Do you think it's still worth getting one used? One more question, have you ever tried a pixel smartphone like a 6 Pro 7 Pro or something? How does the image quality compare? Thanks
You mentioned that you charge your phone to 80%, which is the amount of charge that I set as my limit. Am curious to know if you also do not let your phone get below 20% before recharging.
@@ShibiChan That's good to know because I have been adhering to maintaining a 20% to 80% battery level. Also, I can now better relate to your evaluation of the phone's battery performance.
I think you've either been unlucky or it's a glitch with your model. I've had the 1ii for 2 years, never had any sign of a tint. Picked up a mint purple 1iv about 3 weeks ago for £550, no sign of any tint on this either. I assume your model differs slightly from UK one, so maybe it's as you said, some software bug. Love your videos, helping me a bit with the camera side and they're exceptionally relaxing
I really appreciate the support! And yeah, it really does just seem to be a lottery in terms of the screen. All of my Xperia devices have had some bad tinting, but I see lots of other people saying no problems, so I'd wager I'm just really unlucky. I hope to get more consistent content out after a couple weeks!
Hey bro i watched all your videos an I love your content. I thought of buying 1iv but as you said everyone is saying how the phone overheat within minutes of using it. I'd definitely recommend waiting until the 1V. The TSMC chip improvements over the Samsung 8gen1 are supposed to be really good for efficiency and thermals.

Hi! Im still using my OnePlus 7pro, 5 years old phone and i was thinking to move to xperia 1 iv or xperia 1v. I don't like the 1 vi. Which one do you advice to get? Thanks and keep doing great videos.
This is a late comment but about that screen tint on your 1 IV, I have the 5 IV and what I have found in my case is that if I change the wallpapers, the screen tint changes. In my case everything gets a red tint. If you boot up the original live wallpapers it should fix the screen tint, assuming your case is the same as mine. Of course this is an annoying problem anyways because how are we supposed to enjoy any of our wallpapers if it affects the screen quality?'Never had this issue with the original Xperia 1. Hope that helps.
@@ShibiChan also I wanted to ask in your video you ahowed some shots using basic mode, what's the difference to auto? I notice basic can do selfie, have some zooms and HDR? I've always been swapping to auto for point and shoot shots by maybe I should use basic
@@PuReXtremeGaming I feel like the processing of JPEGs on both is pretty similar. Basic mode doesn't allow for RAW files but it has an on screen shutter button which can be nice sometimes. Same problem with the green tint on my device. My Xperia 1 II was so perfect but 60Hz just felt so sloppy. And now I have grey uniformity problems, green tint and black crush below 90% display brightness.
does the burst with the physical shutter button has a 1 second delay in it? so you can easely make single shots and just hold it if you quickly want to switch to burst mode. this annoys me the most on my sony xperia 5ii that that is not possible. it always makes 2 photos with the physical shutter button and it makes a different map on the phone. very annoying

I found your review very interesting and to the point. Especially the video short towards the end! My sis is thinking about purchasing a phone like this and I'll share it with her too. Thank you :)
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you liked it!
That video was so dope
Thanks so much for watching!
Great Vid ... good passion towards the product you like.
Thanks so much for watching and for the support!
From reading only att in seattle i have most of the bangs. keep up the good work
Thanks so much for the support! Using a real camera and the whole process really is just an enjoyable experience.
The fold 4 seems like such an interesting device.
Great review 💪
Thank you!
Well shot!
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
I'd be happy to!
Great!!! Shot on Kobe, Japan !!
Yes! Thank you!
wow, gorgeous review!
Thank you! Sadly I couldn't get the 1V early but do look forward to that one ;)
Those were some great clips.
Great friend ☺️ for you it easy because you are photographer familiar with the dslr camera and knows how to edit. For us beginner, still in learning. Im rely on automode for fast result if shooting people or things fast.
I've been considering the Xperia and now I know my decision. Thank you シービーちゃん | Shibi Chan 348 subscribers
Mainly use mine for music through its speakers when I'm at my desk, the base is deep and punchy while the non base is full of clarity. Work great at 80% vol.
Yeah the speakers are really good!
You should use the same video settings like when you was talking in this video.
The image quality looks much better like that.
I hope they fix it with the 1 iv.😊
I'm really hoping the next gen will have 200mm reach, as with that you basically have all range covered
They really need to put out the overheating optimization on their phones.
For now you could just put something like the Apexel 2x tele lens on the 75-125mm camera, you can turn the 26mm into a 50mm then too.
uhm, to get less of the green tint turn ur white balance on middle. Not d65... The colors are more accurate and on middle. Additionaly you can turn on the night light feature. Set it to a very minimal value, till whites look less blueish and more like d65.
That should help :)
Sadly I've had it set to middle. I've tried changing it to everything and it doesn't help. The nightlight feature also just makes it worse lol
7:03 it’s that ND Filter? Where to buy? I’m currently saving money for the 1 II in my country it’s a bit pricey
The green tint is an Android 13 feature. Settings --> Wallpaper --> Wallpaper & Style -->Basic Colors --> Click the only option there to go back to the non-green tint
Worthy content
sony king of the smart phones !!!best !!
loved it

great review

Gahhh😂
Yeah at this point you may as well wait for the 1V 😂
I wish they would just say whether or not they'll make an updated Pro-I, because that's the one I'll want to get. 😮💨
My fav phone! Sd card slot And headphone jack! I wish I had the money.
Btw can you set the display to 1080p to save battery?
You can't choose to switch it, but the display only renders in full 4K when there is 4K content on the screen. Otherwise it renders in ~1080p, for things like home screen and navigation
@@ShibiChan oh. Thanks! Didn't know that
3:40 - about that green tint, I see a lot of posts on reddit about that but mine is totally fine.
Awesome video but I'll wait for 1v to come out
Thanks! At this point I agree
Good video, what parameters need to use on the camera to have those beautiful pictures? Thank you!
I usually shoot in manual mode and use the histogram to make sure I don't clip my highlights. That's about it! Keeping iso as low as possible
@@ShibiChan Thank you!
@@ShibiChan Thanks for tips
I really like the design of sony phones, and I'm very tempted to go for the Xperia 5 v or iv when my current contract runs out. The only thing that's making me a bit wary is their lack of software support. If you're going to spend a thousand or so euro on a smartphone you want it to be supported for more than two years.
Yeah Sony definitely needs to up their support game for sure
The reason it sometimes processes photos slowly is because its using a longer shutter speed i have found that with my Xperia 5 iii
Absolutely! Majority of the time my battery is between 40-80% except for some exceptions
@@ShibiChan That's good to know because I have been adhering to maintaining a 20% to 80% battery level. Also, I can now better relate to your evaluation of the phone's battery performance.
This is so cool
Then saw your channel and your videos which you to on your 1iv. should I wait for 1v or should i go with 1iv. Considering its sony it will be a huuuuge slap in the face with their insane pricing. I only know you as a long term user of this phone.. PLEASE HELP!
I'd definitely recommend waiting until the 1V. The TSMC chip improvements over the Samsung 8gen1 are supposed to be really good for efficiency and thermals.
@@ShibiChan guss i'll wait then
@@ShibiChan thank you
hi, great video! I hesitate to buy this phone. Are you overheating while playing a video game?
Thanks for watching! I haven't actually faced thermal problems gaming lately. I usually use a PS5 controller via bluetooth and take my case off, and I've been having a good time. I don't play things like Genshin Impact though. The main games I play are COD Mobile, Torque Drift, and emulating Gameboy and PSP games

Btw, how good are those headphones (Meze 99)? Are you happy with them? Any issues?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for your support! I'm in love with them. I had gone back and forth for about 6 months on whether I'd get them or not, but I'm glad I did. They're a little more fun than technical but a joy to listen to. I don't get fatigued after an hour or so of listening. Plus they just look so good. No issues on my end!
@@ShibiChan Thank you for the quick reply.
In comparison with Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro how is the overall comfort on them? I don't know if you had the chance to try those?!?
I need them for editing (sometimes few hours straight)... so the comfort is also very important after the sound (obviously).
@@EasyLifeES I haven't tried the DT 770s but I also have Sennheiser HD600s. The HD600s are the most comfortable headphones I've worn but take a lot more to sound good. The Meze feel decent, but not the most comfortable imo. Also it can be easy to hear the metal headband adjusting if you move around with them on. In the end not deal breakers for me, but maybe see if you could find a pair in person to try on since you'll be wearing them for hours at a time
@@ShibiChan Ok, I get it. Senn HD600's series also were on my shortlist among few others... (I don't mind being an open-back pair of headphones)
Great to know your opinion on them!
I will probably find a place to try those Meze 99, before pulling the trigger for them... IF I decide to do it eventually.
Thanks again!
@@EasyLifeES Glad I could help! Yeah I see basically everyone recommend the HD600 and I'm in the same camp. I can wear them for hours and forget I have headphones on. They just need some extra power to run them

Sadly yes

How do u do the potrait...make a video😅
Hi, do you also get the occasional problems with phone calls : accidental hang up, conversation where the other party suddenly cannot hear you,...
I haven't had any calling issues but I don't call super often
@@ShibiChan thanks for answering, I myself dont make so many calls either but it can be annoying
The Sony Xperia 5 IV would be the phone that meets a lot of my needs but my biggest concern that stops me from buying one is the lack of repair services in case it gets damaged.
This is very true
@@ShibiChan Do you happen to know what the availability and costs of repair services for Xperia phones is like in Japan?
It would make sense to me to own an Xperia if living in Japan than in most other places where sourcing replacement parts from Sony would be very difficult for repair shops.
@@Kizarat I see tons of people here rocking Xperia. They're in every shop I've seen.
As for me, I have insurance with Docomo that gives me two replacements per year for about $8 a month. As for general repairs, I'm not sure how much it'd cost. I'm confident I could take it to any run of the mill repair shop for parts
@@ShibiChan Damn. Japan really sounds like the right place to own and use an Xperia.
Japanese excellence in its natural environment lol.

I sent mine back because of the overheating. Didn’t have green tint though. Guess it’s panel QC issues?
This is a late comment but about that screen tint on your 1 IV, I have the 5 IV and what I have found in my case is that if I change the wallpapers, the screen tint changes. In my case everything gets a red tint. If you boot up the original live wallpapers it should fix the screen tint, assuming your case is the same as mine. Of course this is an annoying problem anyways because how are we supposed to enjoy any of our wallpapers if it affects the screen quality?'Never had this issue with the original Xperia 1. Hope that helps.
What you're describing is due to Google's implementation of its Material You update. Sadly this plagued me long before material you with even the 1III
Do you get people complaining of echo back on phone call using speaker? People tell me they hear their own voice
I haven't had any complaints of that yet, on speaker or regularly
@@ShibiChan I saw it on the reddit but I'm wondering if it's my spigen case echoing it back, if I lower volume it better apparently
Honestly that's probably the biggest reason I use basic, because it's easier to hit the on-screen button lol. Auto also gives you a histogram which Basic doesn't do
@@ShibiChan does one have HDR and the other doesn't? I'm honeslty not sure why basic mode and auto are separate lol
I have 1 iv, and unfortunately I have black crush and green tint issue, so I do not know what to do،I'm worried about that, I've TW version, therefore i can't change it because I'm not there

Same problem with the green tint on my device. My Xperia 1 II was so perfect but 60Hz just felt so sloppy. And now I have grey uniformity problems, green tint and black crush below 90% display brightness.
Yeah that pretty much sounds exactly the same as my 1II was

does the burst with the physical shutter button has a 1 second delay in it? so you can easely make single shots and just hold it if you quickly want to switch to burst mode. this annoys me the most on my sony xperia 5ii that that is not possible. it always makes 2 photos with the physical shutter button and it makes a different map on the phone. very annoying
Since the past update, my phone has gotten so insanely buggy... I'm having to restart basically every other day.
Ah I'm sorry to hear that
If the phone cost lowered to 1000$ it’s actually gonna be worth it
Probably people won't use airplane mode to stream for long time?
Yeah I agree. It's a step you can take to minimize overheating but it shouldn't be necessary. I've actually been heaving some more overheating problems with my 1IV recently which is disappointing
@@ShibiChanI play no games on my phone. Occasional camera recording only and a lot of RUclips, WhatsApp type use. Will it overheat?
How is overheating on android 14?
you sound like young Philip Bloom at times.
I've never heard him before but I'll take that as a compliment!
Would have gone for the 1V if the software support was longer than 2 years.
It's definitely a major weak point for Sony, especially when Google is promising 7 years of support now!
@@ShibiChan Not sure how Sony going to survive making a $1500 phone with 2 years of update. They cannot succeed selling this phone to just content creators.
Sent my 1 iv for refund. cannot bear that overheating. even have problems speaking with my lady in video call after 40 mins, just turns the front camera off. if in 2023 i cannot even do video call for 40 mins or having 1.5 minutes 4k video (it shutting down the camera after this time) then i don't know anymore. it is true that it overheats in gaming?
I've had good experiences gaming! Never had a game crash or chug, though I've had it get quite warm.
I have however had the 1IV shut off while recording long videos or with long photo sessions out in the hot sun
Im surprised that there is a Torque Drift clip lol
I love it!
5G is not working after Android 13 update sony xperia 1iv and 10 iv, can I know why I am so worried
yes, i have overheating problem with xperia 1 mk 1-3 in tropical area also gadget ytber called Gadgetin also has problem with overheating mk 4 so thats the reason i dont buy mk4 (also corona problem hard for economic) so i waiting for mk5 that the rumor use sd 8 gen 2 which less heating than sd 8+ gen 1 even the worse 8 gen 1. Never trust samsung manufacture in chipset, i will buy mk 4 after the price is dropping kekw
Im pretty sure that the Xperia mark V will not have a big jump compared to IV so i think i will grab the IV because right now its on sale for $800. The Mark V will probably be at $1600 again which is a dealbreaker
Yeah $1600 again is insane. Not worth it imo
Why does it look like your phone has green tint on 120 hz
