A lot of science-phobic conservatives think allergies are a wimpy thing and they used to just tough it out, I guess. Like, my dad for example? He's not the most conservative but he's what I call "cowboy masculine." He drinks his coffee black and disparages me for using creamer, he won't go to the doctor and if he does he calls every doc a quack and tends to take his medications wrong because he knows better. He insists on buying the cheapest version of absolutely anything even if it's greatly inferior and he can afford better. Even if we have a recipe he'll cook using his own judgement and that usually results in frankenfood. Like, he only believes what he THINKS is intrinsically his own wisdom. It took Trump to finally make him break up with fox news. My dad thinks autism is fake and makes a face at me buying dairy alternatives because I have aggressive lactose intolerance. He has 4 diagnosed autistic grandkids and the gene is on *his side of the family.*

Just as context for anyone who may not realize, the whole thing with drag queens that is showing up in these memes is because of one specific thing in the United States:

ALL IVE EVER WANTED was for kids to have it easier than i did. "i study war & defense, so that my son may study woodworking and carpentry, so that his son may study art and science" is a (rough) quote i like to raise to folks who get upset at kids these days "having it easier." thats the GOAL, thats the POINT of life; to make life better for the younger generation

As a trans person I do want to point something out that said in this video: If you reject someone you're attracted to because they're trans, then that doesn't automatically means there's an issue! There are many reasons why someone would reject a person because they're trans: Not sexually attracted to their parts? Perfectly valid. Can't have kids with them and you specifically want to have kids? Perfectly valid. If it's simply a preference? That's a-okay.
The issue actually arises when it's not because of your preference, but because of stereotypes, thinking they aren't the gender they say they are, invalidating their gender, or if your preference doesn't make sense. (For example: A person who is Pansexual is sexually attracted to all genders equally. If a pan person rejects a trans person because of this "preference", then it doesn't make sense. They're attracted to all parts, their future relationships could already result in them not having kids with their partner etc etc... Obviously not all Pansexual people are attracted to everyone, but if a pansexual person is into you, but dumps you when you come out as trans there's clearly a deeper problem.) This is the main thing that made us furious with the Super Straight trend, because it wasn't just about people's preferences. Preferences aren't a sexuality, no one was telling them they had to date a trans person, and frankly the only time this preference should come up is if a trans person asks you out. Even then you should still be respectful so long as the other person is respectful, and being trans is NOT disrespectful. And the Super Straight trend wasn't just for straight people- There were Super Gays, Super Bi's, and Super Pan's out there too that were causing heck.
Just a clarification! Most of the trans people I talk to or watch videos of have said the same thing and agree :)

It's bc of stuff like this that I just see sexuality as attraction to the fun bits instead of gender. Even back when I was straight I still had attraction to enby ppl bc some of them had the parts I liked. That isn't to say aesthetic isn't a HUGE part of attraction, just to say that sexuality should just be based on sex instead of gender since sex is kinda the goal for sexual ppl.

    • @EnbyAxolotlOfficial
      @EnbyAxolotlOfficial Год назад +8

@@vincentmatamoros1757 I mean, but that's kind of against the whole point of people being trans. It's differing and others, so a cisman dating a transwoman would be considered gay in that context because the woman has male genitalia, which obviously makes the trans woman feel uncomfortable. If you're a man and attracted to bot cis and trans women, then you're straight, unless you're also attracted to men. For many sexual people, others genitalia doesn't matter, so to slap on and say "Sex is kinda the goal" is really misleading since that's not always the case. Pansexual people exist, and chalking trans people to their genitals is really dehumanizing. Not just trans people, but really anyone.
That's why a persons birth sex is a preference, and sexuality is about gender. Because otherwise it makes people uncomfortable and feel excluded in a larger group of people, rather than an individuals thoughts.

Allergies are partially a product of the environment, but vary greatly individual to individual because everyone's immune system is built differently. It is generally recommended to give children foods that contain nuts at an early age as it reduces their risk of developing nut allergies as they get older. Generally, the reason for increased prevalence of food allergies (and allergies in general) isn't entirely known, but it's believed to be partially due to increasingly clean conditions. When the immune system isn't exposed to as many pathogens, it's easier for it to misidentify harmless substances as a threat.

Another possibility is in the system the body uses to produce certain immune cells. Many of the cells involved in the immune response are created at random, and target random proteins. The body usually filters and destroys these immune cells if they target a non-pathogen or a self protein, but when it fails to filter these out, you can get autoimmune disorders and allergies

About the allergies things, I learned that allergies often develop when someone grows up in a very clean environment because their immune system never learns how to tell what's actually harmful and what's actually harmless. Children who grew up with pets (which are messy) often have less allergies than children that grew up without them, and children who grew up on farms are the least likely to develop allergies.
However, certain pesticides might also be responsible for the increasing number of people who have gluten or lactose intolerance. And strong antibiotics can also contribute (they also kill the 'good' gut bacteria which can be quite harmful).
(Edit: The above might be partially or completely outdated or wrong. It's what I was told and read a few years ago. As someone in the comments underneath this was wrote, genetics probably play a role with allergies, too. I am sorry for posting outdated or wrong information. I'll delete the comment in a few days)

Yeah, turns out that isn't actually true--or rather a misunderstanding of the information present
So, for the last one hundred years humans have had access to things we'd never see or encounter. Want Peanuts? You can have them. Want to have a Pineapple? I mean, the neighbours own a pineapple--and are you going to let the Jones out class you by not also owning a pineapple? Do you want to greatly change the invertebrate and small bird population in your region because you are importing banana clones and in doing so your cargo bay is full of spiders ready to do their own bit of a colonialism?
Essentially, we have a large amount of the population being exposed to stuff that nobody before in their genealogy had been exposed towards--and are showing that they are allergic to that stuff. Or in the case of Corn--just cannot process it properly and it is fscking with their body's ability to process sugar and carbs. Think like lactose intolerance, but for white people instead
If somebody has an allergy--given them exposure to it isn't going to cure them of it. The people who aren't allergic just have ancestors who didn't die from being exposed to that stuff
This whole "allergies are recent" are from people who forgot that people just died in the past. Usually from living in their own homes (oh fsck, Victorian and Edwardian homes are the biggest death traps). These people are also the same ones who don't understand the luxury status symbol that owning a pineapple actually is. On the clean environment and farm thing for allergies I'll have to disagree; my mom grew up on a farm and had pet allergies that she passed onto me, but because I lived with cats literally my whole life, my crap breathing(due to being allergic specifically to cats) was seen as normal up until I got tested for different allergies after I moved into a place without cats! Turns out, I was also allergic to most of the trees in our backyard that I had to mow :). But yeah, tangent aside, while ones environment could play a part like you said, to my knowledge, that shit is more likely to be genetic and folks just didn't realize the allergy was there.

It's also important for the success of the marriage. I'll put it simply: Sex is like velcro for love. The more you rip the relationship apart and stick yourself to someone else again, the less sticky the velcro will be. Divorce rates for people who've only ever slept with their spouse are substantially lower than for those with high body counts, not to mention the other psychological risks associated with promiscuity. That kind of lifestyle makes you lonely, depressed, more insecure, and those emotional issues and insecurities make you more vulnerable to abusive relationships, and more likely to be abusive too.
The "no sex before marriage, and only one wife" rule was actually to control men, so the top men couldn't accumulate a harem of women. This ensured a relatively even distribution of women across the male population, and prevented most of the less attractive men from becoming incels and tearing society apart with their stupid jealous rage, committing crimes of desperation and opportunity.
And these rules worked. Because evolution doesn't just apply to species, but social and cultural morals too. Ensuring that the majority of men actually had something to live for, that they would have a stake in the future of society, gave them a reason to contribute positively, instead of doing what we're seeing 18 year old incels doing every few weeks now with big guns in crowded places.
Discarding the rule of "no sex before marriage" has allowed an uneven distribution, where a large number of women aggregate around a smaller number of men who have multiple women on the go because they can, leaving a large portion of men to fester and become incels.
I would encourage you to read Louise Perry's new book. She probably explains this more in-depth.

Here is how allergies work (i have several)
The average human body is created with the ability or need to take care of itself. Obviously, the human body wants to protect itself from anything harmful, so there are several things that every human being can be harmed by, like poisons or viruses. However, some bodies, such as mine, have immune systems that recognize certain things like animal dander, certain foods, or pollens as harmful, even though they are not. Your body wants that as far from you as possible, so a reaction occurs. Basically just think of it as your body being overprotective. Due to my allergies, I have to have an epipen readily available to me at all times, so I really don't see why an epipen is such a 'leftist gen z' thing.

The funniest thing is that allergy to mangoes in relation to touching poison ivy (I'm not sure about either of those things, but it was poison-something and a bit tropical fruit, I believe it was mango). If you touch poison ivy (which is a terrible idea on its own btw), and then try to eat mango, you'll get a strong reaction from it, because it's the same family or something and the body recognises it as danger. But if you ate mango before touching poison ivy, you'll be fine eating it afterwards too.

Allergies are more-widely recognized by the fact that when someone experiences an allergic reaction we can introduce them to medicine that alleviates the symptoms (i.e. an EpiPen) and take them to the hospital where they can be observed until they are not at risk for death.
It's not intrinsically that more people are being born with allergies. It's almost entirely that people with allergies aren't dying every time they experience an allergic reaction.

I was talking with my (conservative) grandpa one time (we have political “discussions” often, unfortunately) and he was saying that he had to work his ass off to get everything he has (he grew up in a poor family, I believe both his parents were immigrants?) and he doesn’t like that things are getting easier
I’m like don’t you want to work towards every generation having an easier time? For them to not have to suffer through the same hardships you did?
And he said no, he wants them to go through it. He wants me to go through it. He asked me if he thinks all the work he did helped my dad get where he is today (he has a very well-paying job, we live very comfortably)
I was like yes??????? genuinely not understanding the point he was trying to make??
    He disagreed????????
Even my dad himself (also conservative) agreed my grandpa helped??
He doesn’t understand, if you always start at the bottom, you never make progress
The goal should be to have every generation starting higher than you so they can climb higher in their lifetime
My dad has a lot of views I disagree with, and he has horrible anger issues and ego that I’ve unfortunately picked up, but at least when we have political discussions it’s actually a discussion rather than my grandpa trying to win
Which I despise the fact that people just let him win to end the conversation because it makes him think he convinced them, he’s genuinely surprised he can’t change my views, he’s genuinely upset he’s not winning, we can’t keep teaching him this, it’s like a dog being trained to bark at people coming to the house because the mailman left and the dog correlates that with it barking so it thinks it scares people away

Love the video! But just fyi, as a trans guy I gotta say that in my experience most trans ppl don't think it's transphobic if someone loses romantic interest after learning that you're trans. Surgery and stuff really really doesn't make a trans person identical to a cis person - physically or otherwise- and no one understands that better than we do. (At least in my experience)
So no, it's not transphobic in and of itself if someone doesn't feel an attraction to trans people, whatever stage of physical transition.
*and I'd even take it a step further and say that even in those times when you KNOW that the sudden shift in attitude towards you IS because of that person's transphobia, it's never ever worth it to do anything but walk away. Immediately. Quickly. With eyes on your back and a hand discreetly on a weapon in the very real possibility that you're about to be attacked. So expressing any kind of frustration about that sort of situation? To the cis person involved? I literally don't believe that it happens at all.
Anyway, just some info to help with your awesome work. Thanks for what you do!

“Ask yourself why drag queens want to have an audience of children” Uhh because kids are young and have things to learn about the world, and people like teaching kids things.
I used to work at a garden center (up until literally like a month ago). My favorite part of that job was talking with curious kids about plants. I fucking love kids, man. They’re curious about the world, and they’re excited to know new things. And, when a little kid likes you, you know it’s genuine. They say what they mean.
You can like kids without it being a sexual thing. Adults interacting with kids is a thing that’s going to happen in the world, because adults and kids both exist in the same space and time. If adults and kids never interacted, kids would never mentally develop in the ways they’re supposed to do. There are things about the world that adults need to teach to children. That’s why parents parent their kids, that’s why teachers teach, and that’s why kids’ shows are usually educational.
LGBTQ+ people exist. We’re out there, participating in the world. Exposing kids to drag queens and queer representation isn’t “indoctrination” or “perverted” or anything like that. It’s just adults teaching kids about a part of the world.

One of my teachers is almost fifty, and he has become bankrupt twice, so he hasnt gotten his student loans paid off. He had a student tell him that he didn't deserve to have $10,000 removed from it, because he went bankrupt twice. They said it was his fault, and that he doesn't deserve it. Good god being in a southern US school is awfulllll

I left college about 25 years ago, and I'm still paying off my student loans, with about two years to go. If I actually get the payout (I don't believe anything good will ever happen to me until it does) then they'll be gone immediately and I'll have a significant amount of extra money each month. But even if I had paid them off already, I wouldn't be upset that other people got some relief. I'd be envious, of course. But yes, please let the government give money to people who need it rather than give more money to people who already have too much.

17:25 Exactly! It's like the story about the woman who thanked someone who helped them shopping, and asked them if they were Christian, and they said "no, I'm an Atheist", and then she went to Facebook saying how suddenly there was an evil, satanic presence everywhere and she was really afraid and asked people to pray for her. Sure.
So if it was a total surprise to you that she was a transwoman, then she is indistinguishable from other women, and you can't start whining about how they are disgusting and "really men", or other crap like that. Now, it is quite possible that you want to date to marry and get kids, but remember that not all ciswomen can have children either. If you end up adopting, you could have as well married that attractive woman you met first and adopted children with her instead.
18:27 Nah. Too little diversity. The women should be colored and fat and wear comfortable clothes and shoes, and have rainbow hair.

I love it when conservatives claim that any exposure at all to drag will change your kid's gender because my family basically debunks that whole myth. So I am a cis male with three siblings, an older sister and two younger brothers. They are also cis, except for my youngest brother who is trans (afab). Growing up, the three of us got a lot of hand-me-downs from our sister, so I remember us playing with dolls and barbies at a young age as well as putting on dresses and running around the yard and other typical childhood silliness. Conservatives would have you believe that this sort of behavior would've turned me and my cis brother trans, while my trans brother would've remained a cis female. The opposite happened.
Conservatives are so fragile with their own gender identities that they genuinely believe if a boy puts on a dress he'll turn trans. It's hilarious, really.

From my experience the people who "have their life together" in their early twenties only have that because they bought into the life their are taught to buy. It's very easy to have your life together when you're just going by societal norms and expectations. Not knowing what tomorrow will bring is just the cost of being free, and for what it's worth I find that the people who accept that cost along with its freedom end up living much more fulfilling lives in the long run.

My parents generation takes weird pride in having been neglected in some shape or form from their garegivers.
Their parents grew up in an active war and have their own trauma but so many people I know in the age range of my parents take weird pride in things that just sound sad or abusive?
Sure alot of parents go overboard with the caring and being a "helicopter parent" but from those I know it comes being not cared or look after themselves. Which doesnt make their actions okay but I can see something endeiring in trying to give your kids something you didnt get as a child.

When I was in primary school they still did the "you're not old enough to have it yet" talk but immediately after the talk led into "but we know a lot of you probably do anyway so here's how to use it safely" and I distinctly remember my mother saying something like "if I find someone you don't know in your friends list you won't be able to have it anymore" when me or my brother got any online games or social medias

Liberals would never force kids to dress in drag, whereas conservatives would force kids to adhere to a strict, modest dress code, recite the Pledge, and learn about "intelligent design". That's the difference, and that's what conservatives fail to understand about us.
It's true that we force people to treat each other with respect and to not discriminate on the basis of immutable traits like race, but this should be the minimum requirement for living in a civilized society, and conservatives consider this tyranny. Boggles the mind.

My mom is a primary school teacher and can confirm that (at least at her school) they don't have assemblies about not having social media but they also don't have an assembly about being safe on social media.
