Perfect combo. I designed and prototyped that guitar (and pickups) through a very similar setup. Can't go wrong with a 5150 sig. I use a boost with mine, but it doesn't really need it.
I love you both
Hey bro did you sell your brj “retro” 6??? I was so interested in it!
I bought the KM-7 MK-III and its easily the most amazing guitar I've played. Thanks for making a sick guitar Keith Merrow. - From a fellow Keith
@@Joekickass6661 hey Keith did you get the standard or artist? I am making moves to get a standard and I was wondering if you felt it was worth it? I have Sterling jp70 and it’s pretty good the neck is not my favorite and the basswood is meh for a 7 string
I just bought one not too long ago and it is the most resonant guitar I have ever owned.
Been holding off on this video for a while! Hope you enjoy it! ALSO HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEITH!
Awesome!!!
I've been loving my KM FR-S. After your Tremmory video I'm sold on that as well.
Well done.
@Ola how is the fret work? Is it like Ibanez Prestige level good, or what?
I always enjoy anything from you 🤘😁
1:11 “There it is!” 0.006 seconds after: GONE.
*Ola Englund plays a different guiitar*
...
*Still sounds like Ola Englund*
...
*Plays Pillars of Creation in Ola*
Pillars of creation is EASILY one of the best 7 string riffs ever written.
Totally
Hey the same comment on every video with something about Keith morrow lol
Agreed my man, agreed. Remember the seymour duncan pickup shootout Keith did? "The Nyan Cat of riffs" according to him x'D
Check out Within the Ruins, they basically have these riffs except on 8 strings and more djent ;)
Keith is the only one who actually makes a 7 string sound good. Got one because of him and.... I fucking hate it. I did learn pillars of creation though
Ooooh that split humbucker sound sounded REALLY good!
Schecter makes one hell of a guitar. Even their low end models are spectacular!
I like this series because it introduces us to gear that I'm not familiar with or wouldnt think of searching for outside your channel. Thanks for the content.
ah the old Seymour Duncan pickup tester riff, still badass.
i didn't even wanteda seymour duncan pickup, i just loved the riffs man
Ola brought in the Evergrey love at 4:04 with " More Than Ever." That is such a great riff to put in this demo.
Agreed!
Was playing it the other day for the first time in years lol
5:20 maaaan that classic 5150 interference. I used to hear voices from the local radio stations come out of my amp sometimes. It was freaky.
I'd shit myself if that happened to me
My 6505 did that when I first got it while plugging in a cable to the fx loop and I about shit myself
Haha!! I plugged in my 5150 for the first time in probably 4 years and a radio station was playing through it. My wife thought I turned on a radio. 🤣
I had a PA that would do that.
maaan it hs happened once to me but with a fender frontman 10g, that's creepy as hell
when you're playing the guitar it made me feel like im watching the young years of your vids.
That nod to Pillars of Creation. Brought me back to the days you and Keith would collab all the time. Damn, those were the videos that helped get me through college (but didn't help my GAS)
Try some Beano.
I gotta say this is one of the best riffage combinations you have EVER put together for a review. WOW! Great playing Ola. That axe sounds killer too! Really good review Ola. Cheers!
The choice of songs for the riffage was exquisite. Solid 6/10 👏
Wow, I never doubted his playing but damn... He is such a killer player.
So excited for this vid!!! I needed a towel after you played Pillars. Good shit man!
Shit! I pushed almost a tear when you just went away with that guitar. It's always heartwarming moment to see in guitar playing when you are just so fucking stunned about the guitar. It feels perfect and you can play anything you want
Just bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and it really is fantastic..phenomenal craftsmanship..your video here really helped me decide to pull the trigger on this one..thank you!
Love the sound !!! Probably my dream rig. (and love this ROTW format btw)
My guitar hero worlds collide. Love how articulate the arpeggiated chords sound. Such bite.
wow, a bunch of amazing riffs in this one video
I have to buy one now. I love the green finish and it sounds amazing. Thank you for an awesome review!
3:14 YES! I was just waiting for that Pillars of Creation riff to show up in here!
Dude the second voicing is unique and sounds amazing with whatever setting you throw at It swear.
Massive review... Insane guitar...love the sound of the pickups with the 5150...and...You blew out the scale with your riffs this time!!
Hell yeah!! 🤟🤟🤟
Thanks Ola you got me back into playing.. just picked up a cheap 7 string threw some black winters into it and I'm having a blast. Thank you for the inspiration
Really like the Rig of the week, I hope you keep doing them.
Ola playing the main riff of Pillars of Creation made my monday
Killer sound. The 5150 is still the classic chugger! One of (if not THE) best sounds in Ola’s arsenal - a 5150 and a Mesa cab! You’re playing is on tap today! 👍
Keith is awesome, cool of you Ola! Keep up the good work mate!
Nice video brother,. Great sound the riff so agresive and beautiful guitarr. Congratulations OLA Englund
My wife just got me a set of these pickups for my birthday and now after watching this I'm even more stoked about them! 💚
Love the playing in this video!
I fucking love your channel and the Rig of the Week. Thanks Ola
Rig of the Week is becoming my favorite in this channel \m/ thanks OLA
The rig sounds awesome!
I like the output jack in that spot. puts the cable out of the way.
SICK SOUND... good stuff here
That's some fuckin' nice playing on this vid Ola. Props!
love the fast picking sound on that guitar
Awesome guitar.... Even more bad ass is the amp and cab your using!...love your channel Ola!
The 5150 and the oversized mesa cab are definitely a brutal combination.
Wow those pickups must be very hot to sound so good without a boost ! But yeah, just this guitar into this 5150 is really impressive, attack / definition !
I really enjoyed the sound of the split humbucker with heavy distortion. It could be a pretty good way to create sonic differences between riffs. I might have to look into putting some of Keith's fluences on one of my guitars once I get the money.
Also, May the 4th be with you.
I’ve got one of the lower end KM-MKIIIs, and it plays like a dream. Saving up to get this one next. Cheers, Ola! Cheers, Keith!
I love a sleek neck through guitar, and this one looks super cool. Good review.
I'm getting this in blue crimson... I'm freaking excited!
Keep up the good work ola!!
I haven't played that model but I'm really happy with my Schecter, they put out some pretty solid guitars
What a Rig! Keith has made some really cool guitars with Schecter, but the KMIII takes the cake, it's a beauty!
I like how thin and sleek this guitar looks.
Daaaaamn that sounds absolutely amazing especially with headphones
My personal opinion is that the KM signature pick ups are the best sounding for low tuning the clarity is insane.
Combinação perfeita para todo tipo de som!
This is a hell of a tone !!! You fucking rock Ola \m/
Yeah this tone is fantastic
I see a Conquering Dystopia T-Shirt ...hope he plays something off of that album 😁
5:20 you can hear another feature of this guitar - raging demons that was catched and imprisoned inside the instrument.
Oh man. when you started playing A7X. that really took me back to my youth. I felt that to my soul! Im gonna have to find the album i have buried somewhere.
I own a 7 kmIII. down on the voicing switch is a PAF, middle is keth's voicing and up is split. I adore this guitar and those pickups
Are all fishmans able to coil split? I know most of them have multiple voicings, but I'd really like a 3 way switch to split if I want.
I'm seeing that the moderns can be coil tapped, but I'm seeing nothing about coil split
@@KeepTheGates not all of them. the keith merrows, the devin townsends, abasi, javier reyes, kse, and classic sets all have that as an option. the moderns, willy adler, stephen carpenter, those cant. they have to be designed to split, otherwise, you cant wire them to.
@@KeepTheGates idk where you got you can tap them from, but according to fishman the only two voicings are the high output active, and the slightly less output more passive voicing. they arent weird like standard pickups so you cant just split or tap them
That guitar is awesome! I love the Fishman pickups
What I love about this guitar is his incredible thin that neck is. It’s really nice
Pillars of creation for riff of the week!! Woooo
3:14 Ooooooh I saw that one coming! Nice riff.
A beautiful guitar
I really like the reference points on the neck (they seem original to me) not the cliches already known to all 🤘👍.
Great sound
Happy Ola is good! I think you were all the way there in this video! Great
"Rig of the week!!"
Tack, Ola!
VH140C, Ola, PLEEEEAAAAAASE! And yeah, Rig of the Week is probably one of the coolest guitar series on YT, especially when you review boutique/obscure stuff like that Mezzabarba you did (and I'm not the kinda guy to throw around compliments often, on the contrary). Overall, rare stuff is real interesting, because there ain't much about it on YT.
Love that riff at 3:14! It's from one of Keith's Seymour Duncan pickup shootouts.
It's from Merrows song Pillars of Creation
It's a complete song: ruclips.net/video/lSP7vEva8Ho/видео.html
A longtime Pillars Of Creation ring my cellphone i loved intro.Keith Merrow good musician i miss old videos.
It would be very great if you can talk a little bit about the specific gear. I would love to hear about the pros and cons of the 5150. Your content is absolutely amazing though!
Sounds freaking amazing to me... I want that rig
i found that song back in the day and it completely blew my mind. Pillars of creation is sooo good. Nä
Bust out the Tremoverb on rig of the week sometime ! Awesome series ! One of my favorite segments on RUclips
I am not really a metal guy, but I love watching Ola's videos. This guitar and amp sound great together. I would be interested to try this guitar. I played the Mk2 unplugged in a shop and the neck kind of blew me away. It is so much easier to play than my Gibsons.
Buena muestra de la guitarra con un gran amplificador y gabinete, buenos riffs, saludos!!
Looks awesome and sounds fantastic 👍👍😊
Love the amp man.
After 3 days of looking at this guitar, this became my dream guitar... ❤️ Can’t afford it right now, but one day... 😖🙏👍
Great looking guitar and sounds great!
Hell yeah. Pillars is the 7string anthem, that shit crushes.
I like how it says "TITS" above the input of the amp! :D Kör hårt Ola!!
This guitar and the Solar 1.7 are on my must have list
My dream this guitar, and a Solar
I just picked up a 5150 and love it now need a solar guitar
Love it!
Man I love them km6 schecter guitars. Them pups too. Sounds really good in your hands Ola . Cant wait to get me a Solar with some fishman pickups.
I have a KM6 Mk2 and it’s one of the brightest, clankiest sounding guitars I’ve ever owned. It takes some getting used to, but when you get a cool tone it really rips. Seems the Mk3 is just as bright and brittle, but with a beefy enough tone it can work.
You think it's the Nazgul? Lol it sounded like an angry telecaster
Even with everything at noon and no boost it's still SUPPER tight and chunky!
Haven't tried a Peavey 5150 yet, but I've tried the 6505+, and the EVH 5150 III (6L6 and EL34). The EVH EL34 was my favorite. I really wanna try one of the old 5150's!!
Big KM fan! Beautiful guitar. Really want now
Hey Ola, great video! Which pickups do you like better, Fishman Fluence KM or Modern?
Really like the matte finish on this guitar,, I have the Schecter C6 pro in charcoal burst and although I love it,, I prefer the matte finish.
I love that kind of details on a construction... the solar s1.6 BLB have also utra thin neck?
One of the best sounding rig of the week imo
It's so nice, I just wish it wasn't so bro-y looking.
Schecter! Make me one in neon orange!
The fucking riff at 1:53 has been in my head for weeks, and I play it nearly every day, hearing it in a new video was kinda awesome!
That Schecter KM6 Mark III into the Peavey 5150 produces a niice, tough, Metal tone!
Love that guitar
Love your "I'm gonna fxcking copy this shit!" face.
fully agree, Pillars of creation is awesome!
Oh man you played one of my favourite Evergrey songs. So random! lol
More than ever 🤘🏼
have the KMII-7 with the SD Alpha Omega set he did with Mark Holcomb ... been wondering about these Fluence ...
