    One trick I use is a deck of cards. I when go to set off my Z offset, I use the cards to help me measure the gap at the start and then figure out what my adjustment needs to be.

      Could you please give more detail how you do this?

    • @dedogster
      @dedogster 3 года назад +6

      @@mykehdoom Sure, when I first did my z offset it was hard to measure the distance from the tip to the be, so I took a pack of playing cards and put as many as i could under the hot end tip. I then measure the cards with a calipers to see how much I have to move the z offset, once I get it to less than a millimeter, I make the finer adjustments.
      I found it saved time when you are starting out to get your z offset.

    The protective plastic mesh tube is easy to deal with. A little trick: grab 2 ends of it and push them together, like a chinese finger trap toy, the tube will get shorter in length and larger in diameter allowing you to easily push the wire through it. When you're done, just stretch it back out into place.

    Howdy Friend. I kept getting hyper-fixed on your UT longhorn coaster on the bottom left of the screen. Lol. I also realized about half way into me typing this that some content creators might enjoy some anonymity so no need to reply if ya choose but a big HELLO from Bulverde, TX! :)
    I had gotten tired with trying to go with offshoots like (A8, Aquila X2, etc) and always run into issues with ability to either upgrade or mod even though they are basically aestheticlly similar however the internals are divergent tech which for instance adds in st links, soldering, and a whole slew of things not to mention the passionate yet low populations of these communities that help make marlin and a few others finally accessible. So I just got a new Ender 3 v2 on a amazon lighting deal and was able to get a CR Touch along with their new Sprite Direct Drive for literally about $150 less than the S1. And deciding to have some background help with the install I have seen many of your videos and its was an easy selection. So thank you for your hardwork and pro-level content.

You have probably figured this out but in the video you mentioned that you don't know why it raises the head 10mm after auto-home. I think that is so that if you shut off the printer, there is enough room for the probe auto-test when you power it back up. Also, don't know if the Creality firmware is now saving the setting on-board but I am using the firmware from the Marlin site and it does save the settings to the board.

    I am having a heck of a time getting this printer zeroed now. I have leveled the printer, the bed, and have followed the instructions in this video an on the internet in general. Every time I adjust the z-offset and home it does not seem to help. Also the 10mm offest at the end of the autohome is additive onto the negative offset I give the printer. The firmware was just updated as well so I can use the BL Touch. Great video, I think it has the opposite effect on me than what creality would hope for though. This helped me decide that the BLtouch isn't for me. I do have the warped glass plate that the enders are apparently known for, but rather than buy the leveling system and go through the setup and install, I've just decided to buy replacement plates that are known to be much flatter and I'm getting two of them for half the price of the BLtouch without having to deal with a firmware update, guess-and-check z-offset (or offest) and more moving parts with potential for failure. Thanks for the thorough and honest review.

    I received an older bltouch which doesn't have the single connector but 2 connectors for power and z-stop. Just fyi for anyone having the same problem, voltage and ground MUST be switched on the power connector and the z-stop connector has to be shoved in right next to the power on the BL_T pins, little modification required. You cant plug the z-stop on the bl touch to the z-stop pins or else your z axis will not go down is has to go on the BL_T pins.

    Thank you sir for your video! This checks off a lot of boxes for me. Well made, easy to follow. I subscribed shortly after the video started. I do have a question though... @13:45 When you printed your squares to test, it looked like there was something on the base. It looked transparent and thin, and smaller dimensions than the base table itself. What is it? And please note that I have not even printed anything yet. I spent the last week adjusting, checking, then installing the BLTouch, and watching videos like this to get a better understanding. Thanks again! {liked.subscribed.saved=True}

    Im thinking in buying one of these... thanks for the video!!... hey, may I ask if it is normal for the back left knob below the bed to be basically stuck? is super hard compared to th other 3.

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  2 года назад

      The back left corner is the one with the cable strain relief, and that's kind of held in place by the spring in that corner. So there's more compression on that spring than on the other ones. If that corner is tightened all the way down to where the spring is fully compressed, you might need to raise the Z axis limit switch up by a millimeter or two, then re-level the bed. Or, if everything is working fine, it's probably OK to leave it as-is. :) No sense fixing it if it's working.

    Considering that it takes me 30-45 mins to level my bed every time.. 2 mins is fine.
    I threaded the BL Touch's wire through the tubing with some old wire as a hook. Looks like a factory install. Thanks for the tip!

    Because I couldn't find the answer and in case anyone else has the launch E3V2 without the mounting holes for the bracket, I emailed Creality and they are sending me a replacement backboard (their term) in the mail, free shipping.
