This is my absolute favorite song on this album because of the way Taemin uses his vocals to play with the music, the darkness of the music which compliments the message, and the underlying message beneath the surface. Once again, Taemin weaves a web (pun intended) of metaphors between the duality within himself as both a spider (his darker side), and the spider's victim (his Christian side) in the sticky, sweet web (temptations). However, the spider can adjust the sweetness of these temptations to make them seem innocuous until he's trapped into sin. These lyrics fit multiple meanings, just like multiple lines within one line where a slight vibration attracts the potential doom of giving in to those dark desires/temptations, becoming confused, and stuck. The temptations spread like a poison in his heart. Once he partakes of those temptations, it's not easy to walk away from them, and the spider within becomes more alert, spreads, and exploits his ultimate weakness -- the fantasy "impression" he has of himself that he can achieve perfection through his own merits. Once this happens, he will never want to escape. It all fits in so perfectly with the theme and storyline of this entire album in an extremely creative and clever way.

In my opinion, it's one of Taemin's most experimental songs with "Mystery Lover" which is really similar instrumentally. I think you'll like all the songs on this album, especially the next "Be your Enemy" and "Pansy". I sincerely think that you should at least try to listen to "Identity" again because tbh, it's a song that I liked moderately when the album was released, "Pansy" and "Heaven" being my favorites, but after several listenings (4 or 5 and even more), I started to really like the instrumental and his voice during the chorus, I liked it even more while listening to the live (I strongly recommend it to you) and since then, it's my all time favorite song of Taemin. Otherwise, great reaction, as always. Keep going. 👍
Small opinion as a Korean, I think the weird part of the lyrics(10:30) should translate as I adjust the "level" instead of sweetness. I also agree to other comments that this song is a metaphor of a spider web and tempting the prey(player). This part is telling about adjusting the level of stickyness so that it doesn't get wet too fast, seducing the prey slowwwly and secretly like seeping, and make the prey cannot notice it. When the prey noticed, it's already late and been captured, unable to escape. When I read the lyric for the first time, it makes me remember about the pitcher plant which makes some kind of liquid to atract bugs to fall in and drown in said liquid. And the lyrics about he adjust the sweetness so that other person don't get stuck in wet sticky consistency. You know, when you mix water with sugar it will get stickier the more you put the sugar in it. Maybe the korean one didn't exactly had the same meaning as the translation but kinda similar.

In this case about a spider with its victim when I read the lyrics. 'Inside the emotional line like a thread. You are standing on top of a multi-layered line' This part is so cool to me, because on the one hand he talks about an 'emotional thread', and at the same time he made me imagine the prey in a spider's web and in the middle of that thread. 'So as to not gеt wet with the sticky consistency I adjust thе sweetness' Precisely this part always caught my attention, it made me think of someone who adjusts their way of being, their 'sweetness', to attract another, the 'prey'. Yeah, you’re right Impressionable is not an easy one, it’s experimental and listening to it is like an experience. It’s very interesting musically speaking though and I love how Taemin uses his voice here - he really shows what a versatile vocalist he is. I’m happy you’re gonna check the rest of the album although in all honesty I prefer Act 1 (so I hope eventually you’ll check Act 1 too). Taemin is my Ult of Ults and, as much as I’ve tried, this is one of my few skips in his entire discography. And I can’t quite even put my finger on it. It reminds me of Danny Elfman’s work, which I love. It’s creepy sounding, which I love. It’s complex, which I love. I think it’s the lower “impressionable” part. It makes me want to punch babies for some inexplicable reason. I really, really don’t know and I just wish I could pinpoint why it evokes such a strong negative reaction within me. I think without it, it could be one of my favorites. 🤷 At any rate, thank you for continuing to react to Taemin’s work! I really appreciate it!
