I found this post by accident. This was a very well thought out, ingeniously designed piece. Plywood is nice, however, I do believe you can make another posting of this with walnut, mahogany or beach wood and that will take this design to the professional level. Great job. Way to use your coconut. Love it!
I'm happy you stumbled upon this happy little accident. You're probably right. I could pump these out and make some dough, but I'll leave that up to someone who buys the plans and pays me a licencing fee. As for the walnut/maple etc. I like to use plywood because mistakes are less expensive, and also because it cuts down fewer hardwood trees. Anyway, I hope I earned your sub. I suggest checking out my bed desk video!
*Much higher quality and color than I expected. Doesn't look so much like particle board **MyseIf.Furniture** Looks like a nice table. Works nicely. Can't attest to longevity as I just got it. But first impression s are great. Wife put it together*
This is a great project. I like the fact that you built it all, even the mechanism for the top from repurposed parts. Definitely a fan of that. And the secret draw is cool. But what I admire the most is the the honesty of what didn’t work and what you did to fix it. The value of that is worth supporting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
thank you for your articulate and thoughtful comment! you've really helped me, it's feedback like yours that help me grow as a creator so you as a viewer get videos that you like. you have my respect and admiration
I am in love with that table. How does this video only have 600 views? Your production quality is great. I'm only a very beginner wood worker, but I look forward to being able to make things like this in the future!
You rocked buddy👍, worked quite patiently and wisely used your skill set(specially when screw did not seemed right option and you used nuts and bolt). Kudos to you for the sharing. Wish I can do something like this ever😇

This is so cool! I'm working on a design for a van build (I don't even have a van yet but you gotta dream, right) and I was having issues with how to solve the table situation, but I think this will help me a great deal, thank you!
@@TheHowtoDad Small table saw, drill, router. Super limited. I think it can be done with some thinking and planing, but I'm not experienced in doing furniture. I just really liked your table design. Practical, nice piece, and super useful for my small limited space.

@@jeromejohnson25 I have linked all the stuff you need in the video description and the plans with the video will show you how to make the lifting mechanism. The mechanism is my favorite recent discovery... a lot of my recent projects use it.
This is so cool. I would like one of these; however, I'm not physically able to do things like this. Where can I buy this or have someone else make it for me?
This is the exact kind of thing I would like to have. I've seen ridiculously expensive transforming coffee tables (they extend like the first part of your table and don't further fold out into a full table, but the main thing I want is the ability to pull it over one's lap when sitting on the couch, so that's kind of fine...). The sellers (not counting shipping and tax) tend to ask for $1000 for them.... and yeah, not spending that much. One thing I would change/add to your table is weights to the back side of the table (furthest side from the couch). This is to counterweight when placing heavier things on the pulled up table top when it is over your lap as well as to add stability. This is probably more of a personal issue, but the reason I would want this is because of using large gaming controllers (such as arcade style ones for rhythm games), of which you'd be pounding away on the buttons and wouldn't want the table to shake or even worse, tip down on you while playing.... Of course it would make the overall table heavier, but it wouldn't require the look of the table to necessarily change.
Thanks for the sub! I put tape on my saws when I am working with prefinished panels. It helps reduce scratching and marking. I guess I should have mentioned that in the video. Thank you for pointing that out
I have always has excelent results using tape to prevent blowout on the table saw. Not sure why anyone would say it does not work unless they were using the wrong blade anyway. You would not want to use a rip blade on plywood for example. Very ingenious table BTW.
@@TheHowtoDad Thanks for the reply... This is an amazing table!!! Good stuff... everything out there to buy is crap. Unfortunately, I don't have the tools to make this, but it is perfect.
