*Much higher quality and color than I expected. Doesn't look so much like particle board **MyseIf.Furniture** Looks like a nice table. Works nicely. Can't attest to longevity as I just got it. But first impression s are great. Wife put it together*
very well done. i was planning to buy one, but after seeing the satisfaction on your face I thought " I'm going to build one (or try to build one) thanks for this
How's the hinges working out. I was thinking the threads on the bolts would chew through the mdf eventually. You could always put steel bushings in larger holes or get bolts with long smooth shoulders and cut to length.
The proper name for them is four bar linkage, you can do some really cool things with them. Love how your table looks good in the closed and open modes.
+Dave Williams Thanks Dave! To my surprise it's quite stable. Yes, if you put your weight on the very edge it would tip as there is little counterbalance with this design. Having it stop not as far forward would've certainly helped, but I didn't want that. That said, for normal use it is fine and I haven't had any problems - I use it every day!
Very nice indeed Alex, it looks great as a coffee table and it's dual functionality is ingenious too! Working on a laptop on your lap is never a good thing. This looks just the right height and brings it closer to you too :)
+Aden City Thanks Aden! I applied 3 coats of "finishing oil", which I believe is a mixture of oils and resins. You should be able to see it in my first video. I then buffed that out lightly with some paste wax. Hope that helps!
Thank you for this year amazing videos! You are one of my favorite woodworkers on You tube! I wish you a very happy new year! And keep up the good work! Thank you! P-O Olsson Vindeln, Sweden.
+magicrobharv Thanks! The table is for myself as I desperately needed furniture for the new apartment I am living in! This dual function has come in really handy.
ThisWoodwork Alex, you should make an update video. Are you still in University, have you graduated or close to graduation, are you living by yourself or with roommates? Some of us have been following your woodworking videos since you were doing them as the teen woodworker. An update video would put things in context. Keep the great videos coming!
Glad you could pick up something from the video! I couldn't give an exact figure but as a non-native specie, much more expensive unfortunately, as it is one of my favorite woods.
Looks awsome if i didn't have kids I'd buy one but seriously too dangerous for the younger ones , fingers would be gone. Build in some twist protection and that's a good product
What kind of bolt is used? I can’t quite understand what is said. It sounds like “end ten” bolt and I can’t find anything on Google even phonetically close.
Really nice! For some reason, I hadn't expected you to make the mechanism. But there aren't many (affordable) options to buy here in the UK. Did you see an episode of the Great British Woodshop? ;-)
+Heavyboxes DIY Master As the parallelogram is forward from vertical the weight acts to hold it in the raised position. That combined with the spring force serves as a pretty sufficient lock.
This is by far the best woodworking book I have ever read, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . My woodworking teacher endorses it to all of his students. I am impressed how authors managed to write very detailed topics. I`m surprised by the material and didn`t have a tough time following the lessons..
I`m retired and have a small shop where I perform woodturning, create musical instruments, and some cabinetry. I have a shelf full of woodworking textbooks - but I found this woodworking guide, *TopFineWoodworking. Com* . The comprehensiveness of this book is surprising. It has decent coverage on every topic.?
Started watching the teen woodworker, and now look at you. So nice to see talent grow and mature. Keep up the good work.
+Ray King Thanks Ray, I really value my loyal viewers! All the best
@@thiswoodwork hello, can you give info about dimension of each part please?

I made the mistake of watching this whole my wife was around... Now I gotta build one! 😀👍
hah 😜😛
Daaaaam good. Very talented! Its great to see such skills from other young carpenters. Keep up the amazing work dude!
Do you sell plans to these hinges? I know that getting it just right must have been difficult, and I’m not sure I have the skill.
very well done. i was planning to buy one, but after seeing the satisfaction on your face I thought " I'm going to build one (or try to build one) thanks for this
Cool mechanism, the finish looked fantastic
Good to have you back! Nice work!
perfect very clever realisation!!
Looks good. It was nice to see how you implemented the lift mechanism. I have a lift top coffee table (didn’t make it myself) and it is very handy.
Beautifully done, brethren! I absolutely love the style you've put on the piece as a whole, it's just spot-on!!!
Hello from Michigan U.S.A. Alex. That's a beautiful table. Great job.
Great work
nice build Alex
Could you add another top with a hinge to double the size of the top for more dining space?
Great job! Glad to see you making video's, hope your planning on continuing.
+Larry Morris That's my plan! Thanks for watching

Very nice job!
Very nice. Well done. 👏🏽😊
inspiring thanks a lot Alex
finished up mine not too long ago
That's an awesome build, Alex. Thanks for sharing : )
Well done young sir, tell me, is there a counter balance issue? So if you put your weight on it will it tip ?
+Dave Williams Thanks Dave! To my surprise it's quite stable. Yes, if you put your weight on the very edge it would tip as there is little counterbalance with this design. Having it stop not as far forward would've certainly helped, but I didn't want that.

Nice one, love it though, great design and well built.

Nice coffee table. there is a Q. Are you varnished or oiled the coffee table and how do you make it ????
+Aden City Thanks Aden! I applied 3 coats of "finishing oil", which I believe is a mixture of oils and resins. You should be able to see it in my first video. I then buffed that out lightly with some paste wax. Hope that helps!
very nice
I wish you would have explained how to get the measurements
Amazing job, tnx for sharing it with the world!!

Thank you, that's very kind! Best wishes for the New year, happy woodwork!
Excellent I'm making a similar thing now.
Best table ever
PS: Could you make a wooden trasformer
Nice table
really liked it
gotta build me one of those, thanks for sharing
Great video Alex. I like that sanding jig. Is the table for yourself, or is it a gift?
+magicrobharv Thanks! The table is for myself as I desperately needed furniture for the new apartment I am living in! This dual function has come in really handy.

Thanks a lot dude
I like your rounding jig for the belt sander. How much does walnut cost in the UK? In the Seattle area it's about $15 or 11 pounds B/F.
Glad you could pick up something from the video! I couldn't give an exact figure but as a non-native specie, much more expensive unfortunately, as it is one of my favorite woods.
How easy is it to bump into it making it crash down with the laptop on it?
Gracias

"M10" - A standard size metric bolt, nothing fancy, just use what you can find. Hope that helps.
ThisWoodwork Awesome, thank you!
Nice work!
Very nice ! a bit of matthias type wooden engineering there lol !
Really nice! For some reason, I hadn't expected you to make the mechanism. But there aren't many (affordable) options to buy here in the UK.

Would a small gas shock work instead of springs?
+madscott That could be an interesting idea to explore. If you or anyone else tries it, I love to hear how you get on!
this will help me get a grade 9 in my course work
very cool!
I was waiting for this :) Thank you Alex :) ॐ
Does it lock in place when raised?
+Heavyboxes DIY Master As the parallelogram is forward from vertical the weight acts to hold it in the raised position. That combined with the spring force serves as a pretty sufficient lock.
Watched both builds very good. So are you done with University now?
+Penn Ave Creations Thank you! I am indeed! Currently working as a graduate development engineer on garden power tools.
give me link of creating that filing machine.😛
Spettacolare!
Nice!
Bad ass dude!
Awesome

It's cool !
Also known as a four bar mechanism.
Why doesn't he give any measurements??
Smaller than it appeared in the photo
sweet
Cool headphone stand pleaseeeee
Nice, kinda looks like googie style.
КРУТО!!!!
Excellent to see that Stodoys has new plans what helped me save some money and energy to build it.
Woodglut has a lot of plans to choose from.
Nice but pretty useless without measurement info
