Could you free up more space by swapping out the 2x4 and CA glue attaching a few 2mm magnets to the inside of the drawer and onto the divider so it’s held in place…? Just seems mad to store a lump of wood… unless it’s a pretend lump of wood that’s really a cash stash safe & then kudos my friend! 😜😂 Great builds mon frére! Bish bash bosh! 👍
When storing the pot and lid together you can turn the lid upside down on the pot and get a couple of more inches of space. I know it's minimal but just a suggestion for those like me who have huge crawfish pots.
Just a tip for pots and pan lids: Sometimes you can invert them on the pot/pan, and keep the right lid with the right pot. And in some cases, store smaller pots or pans on the lid.
I love the rails that hang on the underside of the counter where you put the lids over the handle of each pot and slide the whole thing in and out. Awesome!
This is exactly how I use to store my cookware until a couple of weeks ago... I just got a new one and sadly the lids don't fit comfortably on the pots when inverted.
You can also put two pans inside each other (one smaller than the other) than put the lid of the biggest pan upside down on top of it, and the lid of the smaller one normally on top of the upside down bigger lid. Most space efficient!
The "before" on the junk drawer was organized enough to be many people's "after"! But this "after" was amazing and the "I don't have any unused space in my drawers - you know what I mean" comment was worth watching the whole video to the end! Classic!
Instead of the 2x4 at the back of the drawer, you could extend the sides of your organizer and have that be the stop. Then you have 1 extra area for a larger item like a long lighter!
Why I like a kitchen with mostly drawers instead of doors...much more useful and easy to get to things. But you came up with creative ideas to fix existing issues. Drawers cost more upfront but totally worth it in long run
1st project: Love the additional shelves. When I get my tiny house built, I'm going to ask for extra shelf leaves. 2nd project: Ingenious to have a pull out tray and added shelves on the tray. The lid holder on the door is awesome. I have my lids all jumbled together and your idea is much better.
1st project: Looks great as long as your shelves are not too deep or you will have problems getting the items at the back out. We have a cupboard that is the same depth as our fridge and getting the items from the back is already hard enough. For shallow cupboards it looks great. 3rd project: Love this and have already done it for my cutlery draw. For my bottom layer I did four sections that go all the way from the front to the back of the drawer so no gap at the back to fill in. I need to do another set for my second drawer down and maybe a lift out one for the bigger 3rd drawer with all the rolls of tinfoil and cling wrap. 2nd project: I just can't decide what I think of this. Every time you moved it I was worried about the items sliding off the shelves. Probably a me issue. I do like how you rounded the corners, such a small detail can make such a big difference to the end appearance.
OMG I love your sense of humor! Helps me remember to lighten up while working on my own projects. I plan to add all 3 of these to my kitchen. Thank you!
Found it! LOL I've gotta hand it to ya. A man who, not only makes his own storage solutions, but would also crawl into a base cabinet to make his point deserves a 'subscribe'.
I built something similar for our kitchen lower cabinet with pull out drawer base, but instead of building a shelf to put on top of the bottom one I built a second pull out drawer at the half way mark so that I could put another full depth drawer platform for other pots
I'm so impressed with this project and the others of yours for which I have watched the video. You are skilled at what you do and quite creative at solving storage issues that most of us seem to suffer from. Thank you!

Man I love the way you organized the drawers!! It has ALWAYS been one of my personal, biggest complaints about drawers with wasted space and disorganization. Drives me nuts when you open a drawer and it looks like a tornado went through it. I just wish I had all the tools you had to do it all. Great videos!!!
Just bought a house, and I'm making some small storage tweaks as we go. I've mainly been buying storage and drawers from IKEA, Walmart, Amazon, etc. This has given me new motivation to do these projects myself. I've been a little overwhelmed by the time and energy required. While I know these projects will take time - you made this look easy and fun! Looking forward to taking back our kitchen space. It is relatively small - but these hacks will really open it up. Thanks so much for sharing. Pro safety tip - you probably should wear a mask instead of inhaling all of that dust, lol.
Very cool, I love how you are so detailed in your directions and make it look fun and not as hard to tackle. Since we all know how frustrating it can be to want to redesign our spaces without having to be a professional carpenter. I am new to your channel and look forward to watching more of your other videos. Thank you for all the work you put into making these videos for all of us. May God always Bless you with good health and prosperity in all you do.
I can't thank the creator of this video enough for sharing these kitchen storage projects. They were easy to follow, and the results were outstanding. My kitchen is now more organized and efficient, thanks to these simple but brilliant ideas.
I’ve found metal files to be the best way to trim off excess edge banding. Thanks for the great video! I have been putting off kitchen projects like this, so it’s invigorating to see it done so simply.
Just finished making your upper cabinets and plan on doing the lowers for my garage shop and am thrilled with the first tip. It will be perfect for the slide out drawer in your miter saw plan, too!
I really like these projects. The last one could be taken up a notch by making the top try base out of clear plexi instead of 1/4 ply. That way you can see everything on the bottom with moving the top tray
for the drawer, you can "convert" the 2by4 to be a hiden storage space, you can hide some small items if you make holes in the bottom or the sides of the 2x4
I like the ideas, but what earned you my subscription was seeing that hump in the 'most viewed' graph where everyone (including me) went back to make sure you said "nothing bundt storage." Flawlessly subtle delivery, sir.
This is brilliant!🎉🎉 I really want to build something now. You wouldn’t think so, but I totally geek over power tools and building with the wood makes my heart sing Thank you for sharing your wisdom
I don’t normally comment on videos, but you have really great content. Easy to understand and follow for the layperson/DIYer and good with some humor incorporated in. I ended up here after looking for KED string lights, then subscribed and guess I’ll be binge-watching. I just bought my first power tools this year (Ryobi drill, skill saw, sander, brad nailer) as I made a vehicle buildout to have organized camping drawers. I’m in a downtown condo, so can only do this on the balcony. But this video has now given me more great ideas for kitchen organization in a small space. Love being organized, and these tools have opened up new opportunities to have things that are customize d and fit perfectly, without spending a fortune.
How about a solution for those under-counter corner cabinets where pots and pans go into the in-between spaces? I have 2 corner cabinets that go back as deep as the adjacent cabinet so basically enough space for an adult to hide in. The are commercial solutions that cost $$$$ but my budget isn't $$$$ BTW Excellent tips and projects Brad! Glad to see the lid door is still holding up. I knew it would 😁
Use that space to hide when your siblings bring over their bratty offspring, OR, it's perfect for storing seldom used items such as holiday dishware, that 5 gallon chili pot, or all those Mason jars you got that year when you thought you would start canning all your own vegetables.
that was one absolutely AWESOME video. I often wondered how you got the top layer to slide back and forth in the drawer. now I know. I have 2 very deep drawers that can be utilised better, and I know just how to do it, thanks to you.
At a friend's house I recently saw a two tir drawer that the top was all the way to the front and you pushed it back to expose bottom so the upper section receded into dead space behind and when you closed the drawer it is automatically pushed back into the front,. It worked very cool with full extension drawers and you have full use of the bottom section 😊🎉
Wow, at first I thought that last project was going to be a little "extra", but it turned out great and really spruced up the look and functionality of that drawer!
Well, it needs a lot of tools. In some shops (in Poland we have Castorama) you can buy planks and pay a little extra to cut them in exact dimension you need - great if you don't have saw etc. With big pot: you can try to put your lid upsine down - most of them should feet. Then you have handle inside the pot and flat space to put something on top (for example smaller pot) Putting piece of wood at the back of drawer is waste of space, better would be adding extra divider and storing there something you rarely use (in mine drawer it is nutcracker)
My kitchen cabinets are circa 1978. I desperately need to do this! I can take out the pull out shelves and add drawer rollers and a much needed back stop! Tired of stuff falling down the back. The door pot lid holder is genius. No more digging around. Time for new hinges as well.
Honestly, when I have a bad day, I just watch one of your videos, and my smile is coming back. You are soooo funny! (to be more honest, I'm also a woodworker and I adore your videos. Very well explained!)
Unless your kitchen is really old, it may likely have a lazy susan or swing out shelves to make use of that space and is often referred to as a blind corner cabinet and is specifically designed for just such a space. Corner upper cabinets are similar in concept.
Always up for some edge banding 😊, but I suggest putting the extra shelves lower. Put the lowest shelf 5-8” up - it’s eye level for many, and means short folks can use 2 shelves without ladders or pulldowns. Use the low shelf for short things like mugs, snacks, your bins, or plates. Allow more height for the next shelf up (put the stacked spice rack there - and add a lazy susan for oils & sauces). Then the top shelves that the short folks can’t reach are for low frequency items (like that bundt pan)
Hi came back just to thank you for the idea Had an extra drawer from the original kitchen in storage resized it to fit inside the cabinet and we are realy enjoying the extra space Might build the shelf for inside the drawer in the future
They do basic pine shelving with adjustable shelves suitable for garages usually they have a metal cross at the back for support. These are great for kitchens remove lower shelves leave one at the bottom and you can put bins on it middle shelf is ideal for a coffee machine or air fryer upper shelves are ideal for tinned food top shelf for large items like a wicker stoarage basket etc. saves a ton of counter and cupboard space. A decent plate rack wall mounted over the sink can be modified to drain into the sink again frees up cupboard space. Magnetic spice rack shelves are great for the side of fridges and ikea do a solid small wheeled 3 shelf trolley ideal for small gaps each shelf holds 3 2L bottles of soft drink.
The bottom cabinet pull out solution is genius. I considered building a top drawer, but determined it would interfere with my ability to reach things in the very back of the bottom platform. With one tiered drawer that pulls out the entire cabinet contents I would be able to see and reach everything. And I don't need a full length drawer for the top.
Helpful hint for edge banding around curves: Heat Gun. After all, the only thing necessary is to melt the adhesive on rear of strip. Follow through by applying pressure (with a rag so ya don't burn your fingers). Works great for me every time.
I can't recommend enough to replace those plastic clips. I had one fail on me (top shelf of cabinet) when I was opening the door, and it was a miracle that nothing fell on me. We did lose a bowl or two, but were fortunate that was all that was broken.
Project 2: tip the pot lid upside down so the handle is within the pot itself. Shelf only needs to be pot height + lid rim high. Also, if you're good at Tetris, you can stack pots on each other to make a pot tower. Just don't bump it🤪
I've got to say, this video really hits that sweet spot of high quality production and practical, thorough advice while retaining some real personality (I detest channels that make me feel like I'm watching daytime TV) New subscriber here!
I love the lower cabinet pullout drawer. I think if I were to do this in my house I would upgrade the drawer slides to account for the heavier load. Thanks for the great ideas!
When I finally got to set up my own kitchen, I solved these problems by eliminating cabinet storage, and replacing it with rolling shelves. Not only can I add as many shelves as I want, I can access the things on them from both sides, so nothing is ever hard to reach.
I have used the edge banding and it makes the job look professional. Kreg sells a nice shelf pin hole jig. I made extra shelves on a bureau. Next I will be making those pot cover holders. Nice idea using the tape to adjust the drawer sections. Great video thanks. I will be watching more of your videos I like our ideas.
I did something similar with my utensil drawer for a double layer, but we cut a U shape off the back of the drawer and put the top slider on reverse rails so once the drawer is open, I can push the top part all the way "inside" the cabinet and have access to the bottom.
That junk drawer stuff can be stored vertically for quick and easy one handed access. I used a hanging shoe holder, but plan to build an industrial style vertical holder soon, just because it looks better than a shoe holder.
Hey, I just wanted to say I love your videos. Especially the ones where you make mistakes. I don’t have the fancy tools you have so I make plenty of mistakes. It’s reassuring to see that even professionals make mistakes. Just have to learn from it and move on.
Nice idea. One other- if considered when purchasing cabinets, is to increase the depth of wall cabinets to 15" instead of 12". It will only add about 15% of the cost of the original cabinet, but will give you 25% more storage space...and you will hardly notice it is deeper, except that you can store more bowls and cups, or extra large plates.
This probably is a "duh" for you folks who sound like you know what you're doing, but please make sure your upper cabinets are very sturdily built. Several years ago, I got a "deal" on cabinets and had friends install them. Several months later, I noticed that the cabinet backs were not firmly against the wall and had to holler for help. (I'm a widow living in a "cousin-built" house that passed inspection 25 years ago LOL.) The cabinet was reinforced and re-hung and all is well so far. But I no longer fill it to capacity and have gotten rid of a LOT of glasses, coffee cups, and heavy casserole dishes, etc. Just *be sure* your cabinetry can support the load you're expecting it to handle. None of us want to have our cabinets crashing down and wreaking havoc on our counter-tops...
I had the same problem but I did something different. I didn't want all that wasted space at the front of the upper level so I made it into a FULL shelf that also pulled out.
Nice work! Love the pot shelves, I have so much wasted space under my cupboards it is rediculous! What makes it worse is the sides of the doors sticks out that you can't just build one of those shelves to slide in and out with out having wasted space on the sides inside of the cabinets.
The convenience of easily reaching the stuff at the back is usually worth the slight loss of "space". I installed pot lid racks (towel holders) next to the slide-outs in in cabinet to use the inch or so. Or you can install really shallow shelves or hooks along the sides for things you don't use often.

Make even more available room by storing the pot lids upside down on the pots so the handles don't stick up.

Dude, the lower cabinet insert, brilliant
Love the pot lid holder! And switching all my lowers to pullouts and drawers
Project 2: tip the pot lid upside down so the handle is within the pot itself. Shelf only needs to be pot height + lid rim high. Also, if you're good at Tetris, you can stack pots on each other to make a pot tower. Just don't bump it🤪
This is how I store mine. Plus the correct lid is always with the corresponding pot.
Gracias por la inspiración!!!!

Made the pull out drawer for my wife..thank you for the inspiration
I love this guy!!!, He's a natural!
You're the first person to see it my way about the inefficient wasted space in cupboards!! This was a relief, and a good design too :o
"I dont have any unused space in my drawers" - Brad, FTBT Such Valuable Information, Thanks!
I've got to say, this video really hits that sweet spot of high quality production and practical, thorough advice while retaining some real personality (I detest channels that make me feel like I'm watching daytime TV)
New subscriber here!
I love the lower cabinet pullout drawer. I think if I were to do this in my house I would upgrade the drawer slides to account for the heavier load. Thanks for the great ideas!
These slides are typically rated for 50lbs. And we're well below that. But beefier never hurt
This is the best I've seen in a while. Now I know how to improve my kitchen! Thanks!
I added extra shelves 2 decades ago. Best thing i did. I got Lowe's to cut the white laminate shelves to me to size.
13:57, as soon as you said that I was thinking....and then you came thru at 13:59. NICE!
I use paint can method with a board under the cans to get overhang and distribute the weight better.😊❤
The tingly feeling this video gives my brain is awesome😊
Looks good. I did all the drawer stuff with a 3D printer.
Love that you have fun and show us your mess ups!
I did something similar with my utensil drawer for a double layer, but we cut a U shape off the back of the drawer and put the top slider on reverse rails so once the drawer is open, I can push the top part all the way "inside" the cabinet and have access to the bottom.
Excellent my friend! Thank you for sharing!
First of your videos that I’ve watched. Love the lack of measuring tape-usage. Very efficient and practical process. Thanks for the funnies, too. (:
You solved a problem for me that has kept me from loving my lower kitchen cupboards.
Thanks
To prevent tear-out of the wood when cutting, you can run a strip of masking tape along the cut line
Wooow, thank you for this video. You are a great builder in organizing kitchen storage. I do love the slide over storage for pots and pans.
I love your videos and your sense of humor!!
thanks!
That junk drawer stuff can be stored vertically for quick and easy one handed access. I used a hanging shoe holder, but plan to build an industrial style vertical holder soon, just because it looks better than a shoe holder.
Have you ever thought about making a vertical frying pan storage solution? Possibly being able to slide out?
I love your videos! Besides giving me valuable information, you crack me up!!!!
Hey, I just wanted to say I love your videos. Especially the ones where you make mistakes. I don’t have the fancy tools you have so I make plenty of mistakes. It’s reassuring to see that even professionals make mistakes. Just have to learn from it and move on.
We all make mistakes, that's how we learn and get better!
That second project is awesome, and it seems like you could have made the shelves even deeper.
I appreciate your energy and that you have a definite script! Great projects!
Круто, конечно! А мы просто выкатные корзины покупаем в несколько рядов! Даже не думала что можно вот так вот сделать интересно!
Wow! You have a REALLY CLEAN shop! Impressive!!
Really like your kitchen and how you've made it so much better. All I would need is a folding step ladder to reach those top shelves.

@@jeannebrewer6089 Wow- you don't see that very often. Indeed great point.
😍😍😍me gusta lo que has hecho y el aprovechamiento del espacio 🎉🎉🎉
I had the same problem but I did something different. I didn't want all that wasted space at the front of the upper level so I made it into a FULL shelf that also pulled out.
Great Ideas Mr. Fix This....Help Us with more in the future. Thank You!
Very nice, especially the drawer organizer.
