    This is sort of off-topic, but I really like the rational behind why gambit uses cards as a weapon. His power is that he can turn anything he touches into an unstable explosive (it's a bit more complicated and pseudosciency than that, but that'll do for the moment), which really lends itself to throwing weapons. So what does he pick? Why not the thing you can buy in packs of 52 for a few bucks each and that no one will be suspicious of unless they already know who you are? They're just a good, sensible choice that also happen to be really badass and iconic.

      @@LukeLovesRose let's also add Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man on that list too. Aside from the webs being organic(which isn't that big of a deal anyways), he's a perfect fit for the character. Not to say Tom Holland is shit in the role, but both the writers and his own acting seems to mess up on key aspects of the character... Damn sure Uncle Ben and how much he's a geek for the avengers is a bit... Dumb to be blunt. Compare it to how Tobey and Sam Raimi got the character, with someone who has to balance real life and crime fighting, and how that realistically weighs heavy on his shoulders. It's also something to note, that while Spider-Man by all means can and will fight with the avengers and other Marvel heroes, he isn't gonna slave his life away to becoming a part of a bigger team... Especially when his real life is still so majorly important.
      God I miss these older comic book movies, and that's not to say I don't enjoy a good chunk of what the MCU did with Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Ant Man, they did a lot of good with those characters... But... Juggling solo adventures AND a connected storyline just isn't as smoothly handled as you'd think. Damn sure the X-Men movies did have some issues as they began to want to invest time into solo ventures for more than just Wolverine, it only worked over time because they only ever ventured out into both Wolverine and Deadpool, everything else is centered where it should be, leaving it far more manageable... The only major issue is all the details mixed up over time, like how certain actors are at times replaced, and characters outright varying from certain portrayals.
      The major one comes from Sabertooth I think, because damn sure wasn't like the same actor from this movie had been the character since the original film. Though, this version of Sabertooth, while clearly not the original plan from the 1st film, he's much more of an interesting character, especially having that personal connection to Wolverine... It really makes me wish he was used more throughout future movies, as he just was such a great rival for Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine, and could have been amazing to see him actually in the solo Logan movie too.

    A few other points: Origins Deadpool manages to take down Logan and almost Decapitate him, something 2016 Deadpool might not be capable of. Also note that Logan manages to decapitate Origins Deadpool by slicing through his adamantium skeleton by superheating his claws via the laser blast, and in the Wolverine, his adamantium claws and the samurai armour get sliced by a superheated adamantium blade.
    Another thing I liked is, as quoted by the film's wiki: "some theaters' Easter egg endings, Weapon XI's hand is seen reaching for his severed head, and he opens his eyes and breaks the fourth wall (much like most other versions of him do) as by making a noise (a shushing noise to be exact, indicating that his survival is to remain a secret for now)."
    and that Deadpool's healing exceeds Logan's

    • @TheDark4light
      @TheDark4light 7 лет назад

      Huh... Never noticed that. I'd always assumed that the swords were just implanted in weapon xi and those were adamantium since bone claws arent apart of Logan's mutation. Hell they apparently arent a mutation at all if you go by the cartoon that had an episode revolving around the x-men visiting an island that shut down their powers.

    • @FraserSouris
      @FraserSouris 7 лет назад +3

      If they ever wanted to be realistic (like in the Wolverine), they could show that if Logan's powers are ever shut down, he would die from adamantium poisoning as part of his healing factor is now always dedicated to fighting that.
      Also I assume the bone claws a are a mutation in the film version because as a mutation is defined as "the changing of the structure of a gene, resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations" they are the only explanation as to how he's able to control specialized bone in his forearms.

    • @FraserSouris
      @FraserSouris 7 лет назад +4

      According to the X-Men movie Wiki, Stryker gave him an adamtium Skeleton and an artificial healing factor derived from Logan's (and a few others) genes that exceeds Logan's own healing prowess.
      Here are the quotes: "...as Weapon XI, "The Mutant Killer" - Deadpool (as Stryker explained - a "dead" mutant who had other powers "pooled" up into him). Stryker also seals Wade's mouth and gives him an Adamantium skeleton."
      "....Originally derived from Wolverine gene's (and possibly Sabretooth and other mutants). Wilson possesses a superhuman healing capabilities, able to instantaneously mend and regrow any part of his anatomy. While artificial, his healing is in fact superior to Wolverine's as he is able to survive decapitation."
      And as a student of biology, I'm guessing they primarily used Logan's bone marrow for the regeneration due to the presence and usage of stem cells for healing (similar to how the samurai tried to sap Logan's immortality in The Wolverine).

    • @finito1989
      @finito1989 7 лет назад

      TheDark4Light, i know exactly what episode you're talking about and i must disagree. That island shut down his healing factor, but the claws remained because even though his "bone claws" were a mutation and were most likely shut down, the adamantium that coats his skeleton isn't part of a mutation. It was surgically inplanted and i think that means that the claws would remain because once adamantium sets into a form it is nearly impossible for it to lose its shape.

So arguably the only person (that we know of) to question this was also the person who loved the character the most. There's several interviews for Deadpool 1 and 2 of Ryan telling interviewers this.

    Also, fun fact, Deadpool has two main forms of teleportation. In some universes he uses a physical teleporter, in other, Kurt's DNA was in the Mutant Gene cocktail the Weapon X program jabbed him with. This is clearly the case in the 2013 video game, as DP actually creates the same smoky after effect that Kurt and his father, Azazel create when they teleport.

    Call me the black sheep of the fandom world but I liked this film, for the most part. When compared to The Wolverine, it had more plot, more twists and it had more of a point. The Wolverine was bland and that whole prediction about Wolverine dying was so blah. We all knew what was going to happen in the end. If Deadpool hadn't been brutalised in this film, it would probably get higher marks IMO. Bonus points though for Ryan Reynolds.....he proved in this film why he was the right choice to be Deadpool in the much better original film about him. Plus, Gambit is always a win even he wasn't in it much.

      @Leonardo-xz9xl 7 лет назад +6

      Shadow Ecco Exactly, people say that the plot was weak or that Wolverine character was just a poppy and no longer a badass and i honestly don't understand them. The plot was great with some plot twist on the road and amazing scenes (the fight in the club, wolverine transformation in the lab, and the plot twist of his wife being alive, all great moments) and also the character development of Logan was done great; it shows that, despite being a badass killer, all he wanted was to have a normal life, but that his life and what he is will ALWAYS come to him to ruin his happiness (i really liked his scenes with his wife, i think it was one of the few times in the franchise that he is truly happy); and the tragic end is great: Logan is broken for everything thats happen to him, because he lost his chance of being happy with the death of his wife and he can't even remember why, he is broken and he doesn't know why so he can't do shit about it (the last scene of him drinking to remember was the best way to end the movie). Fuck all those winny deadpool fans, this is might not be a great wolverine adaptation but, on his own and despite some bad effects, this is an awesome movie on his own

If you look at the action, plot, and character development, it's an enjoyable movie. They should've just called "Deadpool" Weapon XI though. Overall, I give it a score of 6 out of 10 (that means I liked it, just not abundantly so). Definitely better than The Wolverine, which I give a 5.

    My greatest letdown in this movie (aside from the Deadpool bastardization) is that Gambit is my favorite of the X-Men, and his presence in this movie was abysmal. All he got was a small handful of action shots that only ever hinted at how powerful he really is, and not a whole lot of character development on top of that. And since he was used in an origin movie, it basically made sure that he would never have a comeback until the entire franchise gets rebooted.

While I don't feel this film was great it did have some really good moments and was generally entertaining. I don't think it was the worst Fox comic movie either, X-Men last stand and the fantastic 4 films were far worse. I would rate this one just above "The Wolverine" as well.

    Hugh Jackman did play a werewolf/monster hunter in Van Helsing. While in X-MEN, he plays the wolverine/mutant hunter (comics and possibly upcoming 'Logan' movie)
    So maybe that's what the screen writers did to make that movie-movie connection

    I always have great things to say about this movie! Thank goodness they made it and we have a whole trilogy of Wolverine movies I enjoyed. Truly one of the best comic hero’s and Hugh Jackman was the only beast that could do him justice. Going to watch it again tonight.

    You forgot another great thing about this film:
    If you pirate the movie you get unfinished special effects that are hilariously bad, with some strangely having (in my opinion) better color pallets. Very weird but it makes it even funnier. xD
    Now I got to go watch that special effects comparison video someone made of this movie. XD

    That line of his brain growing back, but not his memories makes me think we will see Jackman in the role again. Not as wolverine, but as X24 (albert) who in the end of Logan had his head blown off with pretty much the same bullet.

    I accept that Deadpool and his design and to *some* extent even find it enjoyable. Doesn't even compare to the new (old if you will) version of him, though! But for what it is I *personally* don't find him as bad as 99.99999% of everyone says he is.

    Definitely not as good as it should've been, but not a film that's as horrible as it's reputation suggests. I don't think it's one of the worst films ever made. I've always thought that was too much when I heard it. I guess I'm like CinemaWins and don't like to hate anything. I love your positive and entertaining content

      It's not that it's incredibly bad or anything, it's just that many aspects of XMO:W are really... bland, you know, unoriginal, cliché, predictable, with carachters you don't really care about. Nice actions sequences though, pretty good acting from the main actors, nice soundtrack. This movie still has good elements. Just, well, not Deadpool and not the pretty mediocre effects (for a blockbuster, I mean)

    It's interesting hiring the bit about "never a better wolverine" given that they way they're headed after Logan's success is that they won't try for a new logan, but will do a new Wolverine. Namely, X-23 with the current actress, continuing her roll. Cause she rocked that.

    Honestly, the thing I'm still most rattled over is the fact that this is the only X-Men movie with Gambit in it. And he got so little screen time that you could only pull four Wins out of him (two of which were references to other Taylor Kitsch roles).
    I remember hearing rumors about Channing Tatum being in talks about a Gambit standalone YEARS ago (which a quick Google tells me has recently been slated for a Valentine's Day 2019 release, and as of today has cast more than just Channing Tatum himself [Lizzy Caplan, to be specific]), but beyond that the character seems to semi-ironically get no love from the screenwriters.

    I honestly really love the Logan and Victor being brothers story. It makes sense as to why Sabretooth loves to torment Logan, as they grew up for literal decades together, fighting, going to wars, seeing the worst of humanity. Victor losing his humanity in these wars while Logan tried to hold onto his humanity, while both are constantly fighting their animalistic nature's under the duress and trauma they've suffered from.
    Not to mention Victor's mental health factoring in, essentially growing up as his younger brothers servant, always fighting with the notion that his younger brother is a better version of himself.
    So while Logan ultimately forgets who he is, he steps in every year on his birthday to remind him that his older brother is still there and will always understand him more than he even knows himself since he no longer has his memories.

    While X-Men got Sabertooth's look right, this movie got his character right. If Sabertooth is in any other X-Men movies then Liv Schrieber should be cast as him. Maybe in the solo X-23 movie where he hunts her? Maybe even be paired up with Logan's son since he also has a major grudge against him?

    The twist could be decent if it didn't have a huge plot-hole. What do you do after someone you love dies? You bury them, or cremate them. What happens after Logan's girl dies? He leaves her in a forest.

      After 17 pages of comments, I finally find the one I was looking for! That was my big disappointment too; when I first saw this movie, I wasn't old enough to have read or seen anything with Deadpool in it, so that didn't have much of an impact for me. But I was genuinely disappointed with how they used and designed Gambit. I feel like they left out/forgot a lot of what makes him iconic (his hair, his eyes, the accent, the flirting with everything that moves), and turned him into this very flat, boring sidekick character for the last 15 minutes of the film. I didn't even recognize the character as Gambit until he started charging the cards, which is not how it should go.
