  • Q1: What happened to the Kung Fu Panda re-upload?
A1: Those files are crazy corrupted, and I'll have to redo the entire video at some point. So I figured since this was the next most requested re-upload...
    Q2: Haven't I seen this before? OR
I swear he already did this one. OR
I feel like I'm going crazy, why is he re-uploading this!?
A2: Some of those aren't even questions, but yes, you've seen (most) of this. Some things were changed, shortened, or otherwise attempted to be made "Studio Friendly."...In a video where I literally try to convince people to spend money at said studio. But let's be honest, they'll probably just block it again anyway. Because WTFU is just a typo to them.
Q3: He sounds weird. Why does he sound so weird?
A3: Again, barely a question. But this was originally made...WOW, one year ago exactly. To the day oddly. I was a younger man then, a childless man. Some would say...I've just gotten more comfortable on mic.
Q4: Seriously though, why upload this again?
A4: Lots of people have been asking since the "First Class" trilogy feels incomplete without it. Hopefully, they who shall not be named, rhymes with Phocks will allow it to stay this time.
Q5: Can this unsolicited, unwanted, gratuitous, self-serving, and completely inconsequential/will be ineffectual in stopping these questions flooding the comments section Q&A end now?
    A5: Never.
Now that that's out of the way! Days of Future Past! Ah, you've already seen this. The only question is, do I leave this as the description forever?
Next week a NEW video. Promise.

I wasn't a huge fan of that part but rewatched it because of this movie and of course with a Rogue Cut this time.
I have to admit that I like it much more. I do understand why certain scenes were cut, to have faster pacing but rogue cut feels deeper, more complete. It feels a bit like a difference between watching a movie and reading a book if that makes sense.
It's interesting how few additional minutes gives more space and changes the result of a movie. I'm really glad I watched the movie again - jumped definitely higher in my X-men universe movies rating.

I think it also serves to show Charles that there are others suffering who need his help. He can’t run and hide anymore. I know the conversation with his older self really cements that but Logan’s past had to contribute as well.

I think one detail that is often overlooked is the look Erik(Ian mckellen) gives wolverine after he says :" What about a mind that has the ability of snapping back"
Magneto in the first film says to logan "Who says i wanted you" and also in the second he reiterates "Once again you think it is all about you"
The look he gives logan in this film once he realises this time it is really him they need is great.

There is two things of note, 1. the bit where magneto gets pulled through the metal barricade up in the future doesn't work unless you're watching the Rogue cut because it requires kitty to be in two places at once and last time I checked that is not her power. 2. iceman just disappears which doesn't make any sense unless you're watching the rogue cut.

The Rogue Cut is superior for many reasons. It explains how the Sentinels found the X-Men in the future; there was a tracking device on the jet thanks to the Sentinel who tried to stop them from rescuing Rogue, which makes for realistic consequences. It also shows Xavier’s mansion being blown up, which adds to the happy ending where the mansion is A-OK. But the biggest reason it’s the superior version is that the pacing issues pale in comparison to the magnificent moments of character development that it contributes. Not only does it show a relationship between Bobby and Kitty that won’t exist in the new timeline, giving the time travel very realistic consequences, it does so much more than that.
It brings closure to Rogue and Bobby’s arcs as well as their relationship, as it shows how they both have grown from the inexperienced kids they were in the first movies; now they are mature adults prepared to do whatever it takes to save the world. Bobby dies for Rogue and for the world, and Rogue is finally able to use her powers to do something great that saves all of mutantkind, after spending so long thinking her powers could only cause harm. Also, it brings her bond with Logan full circle. The first movie began with them together, and discovering the X-Men together, and now their story concludes with them working together once again to give mutantkind a better future.
This cut also provides major development for older Erik, as he risks his life to save Rogue after spending the very first movie trying to kill Rogue; a major redemption for him. Also the juxtaposition of him helping the X-Men in the future and going against them in the past adds to the tragedy of his younger self’s choices in 1973.
Moreover, the Rogue Cut shows how far Charles and Erik’s relationship has come; in the dark future they’ve managed to put all of their past hurts and conflicts behind them, and they’re working together as a perfectly solid team. After being a destructive leader of extremists for so long, Erik finds his footing as a follower and team player this time. He allows Charles to take charge of the time travel plan and Rogue’s rescue plan. Also his helmet is nowhere to be found, and he proves his trust in Charles by allowing Charles to be in his mind for the entire duration of the rescue; they are easily able to communicate telepathically and even joke (“in other words, a door”), showing how comfortable they are with each other and providing a glimpse of just how much they COULD have actually accomplished had they stuck together the whole time. It adds extra weight to Erik’s last words to Charles in the future, “all those years wasted fighting each other, to have a precious few of them back.” They’ve finally let themselves realize that they were always better together, and more effective together, and happier together. And in the end, Erik’s greatest desire isn’t to see the Sentinels gone, but to have more time with Charles. This makes their separation in 1973 even more tragic, but also creates more of a silver lining, and a hope that no matter what, they will always eventually find their way back to each other (which is confirmed by the ending of Dark Phoenix.)
Finally, this version of the film deepens Raven and Hank’s relationship. Even though, yes, she distracts him so she can get to Cerebro, their conversation is still genuine. She still encourages him to be his authentic self and stop hiding, which actually makes her a great and well-needed influence on him, considering his self-esteem issues. Their talk brings closure to their misunderstanding in First Class. Hank clarifies that he’s always found Raven beautiful; his unintentionally hurtful words about her appearance were actually him projecting his fears about what society would say about BOTH of them, not just her. Also they reveal that they still remember the last things that they said to each other, even 10 years later - which is a strong indicator of just how deep their mutual feelings are, after all this time. It creates even more parallels between their relationship and that of Charles & Erik, who also still haven’t gotten over their breakup a decade ago. And it makes Hank’s blue appearance at the end in the new future a great payoff of Raven reminding him to be “mutant and proud.”

Let me add an extra win that most people probably didn't even notice. In the movie Magneto lifts the RFK stadium (being preped for a baseball game) around the white house. That scene was actually filmed in the Montreal Olympic staidum, the last home of the Montreal Expos, MLB team. The expos moved to Washington in 2004 or 2005 aaaaaand started playing in the RFK stadium if i'm not mistaken. So a bit of sports connection in the movie. That adds a win for me since i'm from Montreal ;P

A favourite series of mine outside of any genre typing, that being the 2004 re-imaged series of Battlestar Galactica. Even the....weird 4th season, was mostly a perfect example of how to do TV series. Even the science of this scy-fy was grounded in at the time understood science, it deserves as much recognition as possible

Funfact about young Xavier telling Logan to fuck off, that was the original line in First Class. Hugh Jackman improved in a couple takes of that scene, and the version they went with was different from the script. Evidently, James McAvoy wasn't told this, and went with what he remembered from the First Class script.

Please do Everything Great About John Carter. It's a really underrated movie. I loved it.
    I'll list a few wins.
    1. Taylor Kitsch IMO (cue Tim Riggins jokes)
    2. Willem Dafoe is forever a win.
    3. Mark Strong
    4. Dominic West (cue McNulty jokes)
    5. Micheal Giacchino's soundtrack.
    6. Environments and visual of Barsoom
    7. Woola is awesome and cute.
    8. The Virginia running gag
    9. Love
    10. John telling Edger Rice Burroughs (Ned) to write book which is a nice reference to the book fans.
    11. The brilliant action scene with John battling the Warhoon. The emotion put into it, the flashbacks cleverly used and Kitsch's sad and angered filled facial expressions. I consider it one my favourite action scene in all cinema (no joke)
    12. Mars red style Disney logo.
    13. Any scene with John Carter shirtless (75% of the movie)=Taylor Kitsch's workout routine.
I could go but I'd be taking a long time so comment on any other wins I might've missed.
    Agree/disagree?

Indeed it is. That action scene to me is cinematic perfection. It had everything great going for it; perfect action, visuals, editing, music and one of Taylor Kitsch's best moments of the movie. You just feel the torment, regret and sadness flowing through him knowing he was too late to save his family yet given a second chance by try to save Dejah and everyone else.

      Jonathan Crane
True, I really wished that Andrew Stanton's planned trilogy was made. I know what happens next cause I've read the second book, Gods of Mars. If you haven't read it yet, I'm going tell what happens at the beginning of the book and how the film would've started too.
Basically, John materialises back to Mars after 10 bitter years but instead of returning to where his body originally was, he ends up in the one place nobody can escape: The Valley Dor (AKA the Barsoomian afterlife). Carter also find Tar Tarkas who taken pilgrimage to the Valley Dor to find him. They also discover that most who reach the Valley Dor are either eaten by beasts or enslaved and eventually eaten alive by the Therns.
That would've been awesome to see right? Shame we'll never see it. There's always hope for a reboot in the foreseeable future.
