I really loved when Charles realizes “I can’t feel my legs” and just keeps repeating it like it won’t sink in. It’s hard to explain but I would’ve given a win to that
I had a moment like that one time. I was getting a blood test, forget why, and the nurse missed my vein. Instead of removing it and trying again, she wiggled it in my arm. I went into shock and had a panic attack. When it was happening, my mom asked (once) how much it hurt, and I just repeated 400 or 4000 (forget which) over and over for half an hour afterwards
Have to add this about the beer-drinking scene as a german native speaker: It's rare that you find someone speak german in a US movie and it is actually grammatically accurate, contains no weird phrasing due word-for-word mistranslations from english or doesn't sound completely ridiculous because it's an american trying to sound german. And yet Fassbender completely nailed it. I seem to remember he's a native speaker as well, but its a rare occurence nonetheless. Plus: at least one of the guys drinking with him is definitely a german actor, might be both of them. They didn't have to cast actual germans for the german speaking parts, but they did. And as far as I can tell from my limited knowledge of French, Fassbender performs equally well in that language. Heck, that they used the respective languages at all and subtitled them, instead of having english dialogue with a funny accent is remarkable. Definitely multiple wins right there.
Drakespawn85 As a bilingual who’s been fluent in English and French my whole life, I can definitely reassure you that Erik’s French was very good. I rarely hear French that nice in English movies.
8:48 I hear Fassbender's Irish accent as he says "killed my mother" as if he dropped his dialect training to fully access his feelings while delivering that line. I'm grateful this amazing actor was willing to take on the stigma of starring in comic book movies in order to play this wonderful role
I never thought of that. The way he said it always just sounded like a cool way to emphasize the line. But now it’s kind of tickling my brain to think it might’ve been accidental. But I’m not sure if my brain is tickled in a good way? I dunno, its definitely interesting tho
when magneto says "never again" it could be in reference to what's inscribed over the entrance to auswitz ( the concentration camp he was at) over the entrance is a banner that says " never again"
@@alexanderchristopher6237 You see that's what animal testing is for,. We can see the effects of any experimental treatment on human-like organisms so that we don't put another human's life on the line.

This movie is absolutely my favorite x-men movie. Never really fell for the old ones but young Charles and Eriks relationship is just so compelling and it's a heartfelt movie
I agree, I feel like this was the best X-Men movie out of all of them. It was not to portray the roles of Professor X and Magneto after Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan did such an amazing jobs in those roles, but James McAvoy and Micheal Fassbender were just as good in those roles. Especially Michael Fassbender who has quickly become one of my favorite actors, he has talent and gives it his all in almost all of the roles I have seen him in. I won't be surprised if someday this man wins an Oscar.
Some of the best character development I've ever seen is with Xavier and Magneto. I've always loved their awkward friendship, and this movie showed the emotional ups and downs of their relationship perfectly.
@@LukeLovesRose It's not that anyone is a coward, it's just that you are fucking stupid and everyone is laughing at you and disgusted by you at the same time.
I don't know the actual holocaust survivors seems to have seen enough cruelty in their lives, at least the few who are still around today. It's the people who feel their ingroup was targeted who seems to be low on mercy, and not just for people following orders pretty much everyone not in the same ingroup as they are.
Did you guys know that James Mcavoy (professor X) and Michael Fassbender (magneto) are best friends in real life and so are Sir Patrick Stewart (professor X) and Sir Ian Mckellen (magneto) are best friends in real life cool the both professor X’s and Magneto’s are best friends
One thing Cinemawins has over Cinemasins (sorry for bringing up the obvious comparison you must be tired of) is rewatchability. I've seen every Cinemasins video once, but I've only watched two or three of them several times, Cinemawins videos I can watch again and again. They are so uplifting that I can't help it.
Lets just remember the moment from X3 where Magneto says "Good bye old friend," and walks away from Charles grave. I always liked X3 just for all the saddest in it.
Watching this movie with my German mother (I myself am half-German, half-English), as soon as Charles said "they're just following orders" both of us went, out loud, "oh, no." I'm all for Magneto killing Nazis, don't get me wrong, I'd watch a whole movie of just that, but the sheer degree to which those were the Worst Possible Words To Say was impactful.
8:00 I like how that Charles is wearing a white shirt with a black sweater, and Eric is just wearing a pure black turtleneck just showing how sinister Eric is and how Charles sees both sides but chooses to keep the light close to him
A thing that always makes me laugh when I watch this movie is the fact that the first time I watched it I was so confused when Charles appeared because I never even considered that James McAvoy might have the capability of growing hair.
You know there's a theory that the moment when magneto was in the room with Shaw when his mothers die. That inadvertently woke up Xavier who senses the rage of the mutant and caused him to find Raven as a child.
I think that one more win should've been awarded for the excellent chemistry between Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, their friendship really made for an effortless blend.
@@TopHatHat (Edits to make it easier to read, I rambled I'm sorry) external adaptation, you can tell during his death that his body is trying to adapt to the LITERAL PLASMA LAZER RAYS (THAT CATCHES STONE AND METAL ON FIRE) that are forced down his gullet, there was no evidence of the adaptation being internal, making him a glass cannon, when such dangerous objects are placed internally (such as a highly volatile explosive material getting forced down his throat)... also you can argue that his death solidifies the want to protect mutants from each other...because if they just killed the bigoted CIA goons, really there would be little insight to stop them compared to, "my name is Diego Monta, you killed my father prepare to die" I mean... they probably never met another one of *them* another mutant...they felt like they had a family, people to relate to for once in there lives...and one just died protecting another "family member" ...I'm preaching to much about this you can hopefully see where my thoughts are going
Marary R *clears throat and raises hand* I’ve always just saw them as friends. Meh, call me old fashion but I have always like friendship little more then romance
Hell, the people who *make the movies* ship them. They even referred to Charles and Erik as essentially being "Divorced" in Days of Future Past because of their interactions and relationship in the movie.
My favorite part about the Frankenstein’s Monster/Magneto theme score switch is that in the scene when it happens, Erik is in Geneva, Switzerland, which is Victor Frankenstein’s home in the original Frankenstein novel. Pretty neat shout out!
This was a movie that greatly surpassed my expectations. I was skepitcal of a reboot, retcons, and just all around wasting the characters and setting. Instead, it was really good, and I personally consider it the best X-Men movie to date.
I like them both but this is defn the winner. 10+ mins of CS bitching about a film can get tiresome, but I can watch any length of a CW vid cos positiveness rocks. :)
I am with John Smith - I love both channels... Both are diametric opposites much like X-Men: First Class and its story of Magneto and Professor X... Every Movie can be sinned, and its fun to nitpick them... But its also Great to look at what makes a movie so great too... And Cinema Wins has done Gods Of Egypt!!! A film that many say is quite Mediocre - I have not seen it and honestly, Have no interest in seeing it ... But its great to see a channel that at least TRIES to find some good in a film that has pretty much been panned! I have a feeling that we will see Everything Great About Ghostbusters (2016) soon enough - But if you cannot wait, Check Out Nostalgia Critics Review... While he does indeed still prefer the original... His review is actually very fair as he takes off the Nostalgia Goggles we all have and examines areas we fans all assume the original is far better - And the fact that actually, We are WRONG! Ask most fans like myself about teh original and we talk about how exciting and action packed it was... But actually the truth is, it wasn't... It was more character driven, A lot of talking and plot development... The 2016 Reboot loses out here obviously as the characters are really bland... BUT it has far more action... Seriously! Check his review out... Its worth a watch!!! As for the Sexism stuff... I still think that was a 4-Chan Prank that Sony Jumped on as a Marketing tool - AND BOY DID IT BACKFIRE!!!! (Point of note - Nope, I have not seen teh 2016 Reboot yet... But my son has, He prefers the original but says it is actually a Good movie. Not epic but worth a watch at least. I trust his judgement as he has never steered me wrong yet! But I am ANNOYED that Sony DELIBERATELY Cut some scenes so they could capitalise on DVD Sales... OH YES! THERE IS A GHOSTBUSTERS DIRECTORS CUT ALREADY!!!)
both are good but I'll wholeheartedly agree for one big reason in my books. CinemaWins gave an excellent review on the warcraft movie. They understood the lore behind it and how even though the sub plots were messed up, the main plot was right there. They played the 3 warcraft games so understood the lore behind them and not thought the movie as world of warcraft but did understand the Easter eggs that were in it. So a big win for CinemaWins on that one.
Bassam Barak they incomparable. One points out silliness and inconsistencies with full disclosure of being critical. The other praises. They are apples and oranges
Literally the whole cast ships Erik and Charles, even McAvoy and Fassbender :D James said that since marriage in the US is legal now, they could even get married :D (also CW is a Fassbender fanboy confirmed)
X-Men CollectionZ Who cares if they're not gay, or not cannon. I personally see Charles as bisexual anyway due to his telepathy and to a certain extent Eric too, although he doesn't really have that many close romantic attachments. I mean there's Raven, whom he explicitly refuses to sleep with in this film, and then looks way too old in comparison for it not to be creepy in films after the time skip, and that Magda girl from the comics, who I only know about because of fanfiction. Non-cannon shipping is the most fun I've had since actually watching these movies. But I guess whatever, if that's not your cup of tea, then you do you. In the end I'm just speculating about the hypothetical dating habits of fictional characters. Anyway, have a nice rest of your day!
You are 1,000 times better than CinemaSins, just because they nitpick problems that aren't problems if you THINK about them. You actually bring to light real good things, they try to make things up, at least once per video I can disprove them, and it gets annoying. Keep on making the world great again.
Why can't you just let people enjoy what they like instead of forcing shit like "this is 1000x better omg I'm such a fanboi, fuck CinemaSins IMRITE???" down our throats?? Both Sins and Wins are epic and you can piss off. The Sins team have said numerous types that they are comedians, not critics. But that's too hard to grasp for some idiots.
If you want a channel that does serious critiques on films, CinemaSins isn't for you. It's just a satirical channel. The nitpicks are for humour, as they say in their 'Everything Wrong With CinemaSins' video. Personally, I really like both. Sins is funny in a catty way, and Wins is great for the nostalgia and seeing the good in things.
The energy and refreshing feeling this movie brought to the franchise was ruined with DoFP (which I loved), but it took the franchise back to where it was. First Class was such a breath of fresh air and I would loved to see new mutants introduced. Still my favorite X-Men movie.
9:35 "And in a very non-romantic version of Romeo and Juliet..." Non-romantic? Because I am getting way too many shipping vibes for this to be "non-romantic"
Ever think about the fact that this is basically director Matthew Vaughan's audition for the retro spy movie style that Kingsman ended up emulating so well? All that promise shows here, dude knows how to do a spy caper that's got serious STYLE.
This is hands down my favorite X-Men movie ever. Every minute is filled with something intetesting and it has the best action and character development in any of the movies. The coin callback was genius. Magneto's power evolution arw a fanboy dream come true. And the bullet crippling Charles is a stroke of brilliance. This movie actually made me look up the director and follow his work, which is what led to me watching Kingsmen
6:06 I'm not happy about this being a win, or ONE reason: That character right there is Darwin. He's an X-Man with the Power of "Reactive Evolution," Put him under water and he'll grow gills, Light him on fire his body becomes flame retardant. Throw him into space he'll find a new way to survive. Here's an example: During the World War Hulk storyline, Darwin was with the X-Men fighting the Hulk and his Ravagers from Sakaar. During that fight Darwin's powers decided that the best way to fight the Hulk was to be LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE. Gave him the ability to teleport and Poofed him 3 states away. So why did he Die so quickly?!
Fassbender’s delivery of “Unfortunately, you killed my mother.” Is one of the best deliveries of that line I’ve ever heard. How voice sounds great there
I wish there was a win for Banshee's callback to Erik pushing him off the satellite to fly when they are on the jet. 😂 No, but seriously, I love your videos. They help me remember the best parts of all movies and appreciate the details I missed. 💗
The reason Magneto slowly pushes the coin through Shaw's head is so Shaw isn't able to absorb the kinetic power, as there's very little there to absorb. Had he launched the coin through the head it would probably have been deflected as the grenade shrapnel was when it exploded in Shaw's hands. I always loved that the movie didn't feel the need to explain it.
Something that I would love to see is just a nod to the coin scene later on because that...was kinda fucked up. Like, the point isn't that Shaw didn't deserve that because he really, really did, it's that Charles didn't deserve that. Image being able to feel as your skull breaks and a coin entering your brain, it's terrifying to imagine and just such a betrayal. You can't even find the scene satisfying because it's such a clear line in the sand point
@7:11 Fun fact: The music from this scene is also used in Kingsman 2 when Harry Hart's memory returns. The score is used perfectly in both, I love it :D
the "adapt to this" line was bullshit darwin would indeed be able to adapt to it he adapted to live witouth oxygen when thrown into space and kept getting stronger and stronger while fighting the hulk
yea, i always wondered that. it was a pure energy ball dropped into his mouth, why couldnt his body just adapt to close his throat to block it from going down, and then he spit it out
I know this was probably just a racist excuse by Matthew Vaughn to kill him off, but this might not be the same Darwin from the comics, this probably is just a younger, way weaker version that Matt was going for, cause in the comics, Darwin is near immortal, even by Hela's death touch. That probably isn't this version of Darwin, who knows? Either way, Havok's blasts sound more powerful than Thor's hammer in this movie, to kill poor Darwin like that XD
Like The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger, Iron Man 3, The Dark World, Age of Ultron, Ant Man, Doctor Strange, Guardians 2 and Ragnarok.
@@masterpenguin8472 "Iron Man 3", "Thor Ragnarok" and "Age of Ultron" were crap to be honest, I can buy the ides that the others might be good but these three are just shit. Ultron was a really scary villain in the comics and in "Avengers: Age of Ultron", he was portrayed as a lame villain, the movie didn't do justice to the original Ultron that was created by Hank Pym and outsmarted its creator to become something far more threatening than any other artificial intelligence (well, the Sentinels and the Phalanx are really scary too). "Iron Man 3" didn't have a good villain, that Mandarin was shameful as hell and almost everyone agrees that the Mandarin could have been a lot more interesting than just a lame and boring villain. "Thor Ragnarok" was full of comedy and the only good thing it offered was Hela as the main villain, a villain that I wish we could have seen more often, she had potential to be a better villain than Loki (who, in my opinion, is too overrated and basically, thanks to him, many other villains in the MCU couldn't have a more important role, Hela is one of the good villains we didn't get the chance to appreciate long enough because of Loki). "Captain America: Civil War" wasn't that good if you compare the magnitude of the first Civil War to the story we were shown in the movie from 2016. The original Civil War from the comics was supposed to include every single superhero in the Marvel Universe and while I get that the X-Men and the Fantastic Four wwre not part of the MCU by 2016, the MCU had many other Avengers that could have played a huge role, not to mention that the fights were lame as hell.
This is the best X men movie IMO, in fact I'd say this was the best comic book movie before Civil War. This movie is so good it's a shame what happened with the two next movies. While DOFP is great on it's own right I'll always feel sad how a great movie ruined what could've been an even greater series. If you watch the original DVDs commentaries from the directors, First class was supposed to be it's own thing until they merged the timelines for DOFP, a cool idea for sure but it also totally ruined the world First Class had constructed. Alas, we'll always have this film to enjoy even though a direct continuation would've been much much better than what we got later.
I think the scene with Hank and Raven and taking the serum is one of my favourite as it shows how both these characters could of been like the other is circumstances were different. They both are (ignoring Angel as she turns to the other side and maybe Darwin as he dies and his default state is looking like a normal human and its only when his powers activate that you realise he is a mutant) the only mutants with "physical" mutants that hard hard to hide and need more physical means to do so (either using the powers or hiding them in shoes). They both are really self conscious about how they look and both want to fit in. And potentially had childhoods that would have made them have this attitude (Raven being forced to hide her blue skin with Charles discouraging there use and the potential attractiveness in her blue form and whilst its not as obvious, being a genius, and basically being forced to grow up early due to being surrounded by adults in his learning institution instead of kids his own age whilst having to hide his own mutation would have made him an outcast with very little support himself, maybe even no support as we dont know how his universes Hank's parents treated him. This most likely would have developed a desire to fit in as he really is an outcast and lonely ). But both characters are treated differently in the long run. Raven gains confidence as people start to compliment her. When she shows off her powers to the rest of the group for the first time, they react positively with shock and awe. Even whilst trying to change it, Hank compliments her mutation, even a scientifically way, which could make it more significant as thats really the only way he knows how to interact. And Erik constantly calls her and her mutation amazing and beautiful and makes no mistake that he finds her true form attractive. He, and the more or less instant acceptance, she finds with in the mutants makes it so there is no surprise she rejects the serum and ultimately has no love for normal humans who have always rejected her. On the other side, Hank is rarely complimented, and even then only Charles reinforces it. Hank is ridiculed by the group by the group, who follow the more popular Alex, and even though Raven defends him, she doesn't encourage him to show off like she does the others. Whilst that maybe because she knows it makes him uncomfortable, it still is a bit of a negative reinforcement as she doesn't even ask him and could be taken as she prefers him to stay more hidden. Throughout the training montage, the other characters are shown not to trust him due to one or two failures, which is to be accepted as he has never had to design things like them before. When he trains with his physical mutation, only Charlies encourages him, saying it is magnificent, but Alex showed that he wasn't accepted by insulting him (ON HIS LOOKS AND MUTATION ) showing that he is still an outcast. And Raven, whilst flirting and was attracted to him, still encouraged him to make the serum to cure both of them right up to the last moment, reinforcing the idea that he should be normal to get the girl. So its no surprise he takes it. They are mirrors of each other and shows how people treat you and their perceptions of you can influence you, just like how Charles and Erik are mirrors that show how your past and upbringing can influence you. The background arc of Raven and Hanks love story is a great side story that i think people overlook due to the main one
i never understood how hank said the serum would cure the physical part without removing their powers. i mean it makes sense in ravens case, she could still transform. but hanks mutation was entirely his opposable thumbs on his feet. that was the whole mutation, he didnt have any abilities aside from what his mutated feet could do. so if he cured that to make it look like regular feet, how could he still have any abilities
12:30 The left soldier's reaction gets me, don't know if it was intentional or not, but it humanizes him a little and plays into the 'men just following orders' motif.
EasilyBeatable Born a slave to a mother that loves him more than her own life, on a desolate planet where he will most likely die in the same place he's been since his mother decided to settle there. He had nothing other than her. Then comes these mythological figures that are guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy and he's given a way out. He's given an avenue to become one of them because a Master sees what his true potential is. All he has to do is leave her behind. Leave behind the woman who has scraped and scrapped for anything and everything to give to him. The last step between leaving the nearly inhospitable planet that he hates is that he needs to abandon the one thing in the universe he truly loves. And one of the last things Shmi says to him? Don't look back... Doubted from the very beginning of his training, taken on begrudgingly by a young knight who is only doing so to fulfill a promise to his former master, Anakin wrestles with his identity as a slave and rises to become one of the most formidable young padawans the Jedi Order has ever seen. He fights, and fights, and fights, and wins, and wins, and wins, at almost every challenge thrown his way but his undying love for people who love him is what holds him back from completely letting go and becoming the Jedi that people want him to be. He loves. He loves to the point of obsession. The only person he loves more than his own mother is Padmé and he is bombarded by visions of her death, similar to his Shmi's. Anakin saw his mother die in his dreams, and relived that horror in person. All of this despite him traveling across the galaxy to attempt to save her. He would rather sacrifice everything he has ever achieved than see the woman he loves suffer the same fate. Yet the actions he takes to prevent this lead to his wife and unborn child dying at his own hand. For nearly twenty years he kills old friends as he hunts down the remaining Jedi, until he senses Ben. Ever have a friend that you would die for? Right now, who was/is/will be your best man at your wedding? Who is the godfather of your children? Who is your ultimate confidant that you would trust with anything? Now imagine the betrayal you feel, when you realize they aren't going with you on this journey that you think is your right path. Not only won't go with you, but will do what they must to kill you and prevent these events from unfolding. Now you see them. To you, they are the reason you are encumbered in this metal prison. Anakin strikes out with the intent that this will finally be the end of his past. The last man who might remember who he was before his immolation will now be dead. But while defending the station that is the culmination of his new empire he sense a presence, and the search of the source will consume him for years until he discovers the truth. Anakin Skywalker, the hero of the Republic, the secret beloved husband of Queen Padmé Amidala, is a father. He has a son. He has a son who is a Jedi, who is the hero of the Rebellion. He embodies everything Anakin hates about his past self. And he now struggles with his own identity. Is he loyal to his emperor who still has much to teach him about power and the force, which is all he has now? Or does he invest in his son, which is his last connection to the woman he loved more than his mother? Everything. Everything, he has tried to saved as turned to ash in his hands. Maybe just this once... Anakin's love for his mother lead him down the path to the dark side. His love for his wife and unborn children was the cause for him to betray the order that raised him from a slave to a revered Knight and General. His love for his son, and his newly discovered daughter, is the catalyst for Vader to remember Anakin. He fulfills his destiny and destroys the master, at the cost of his own life. He's tragic. He is the victim, villain, and hero of this story. Despite some directional and writing choices taking during the prequels, any competent edit of them shows the deep and character developing story that is there.
One of the things watching this I have just noticed is how Hank is shown to be an outcast among outcasts. He’s either behind the rest of the mutants or positioned away from them. In one scene he even has his back to them. It’s also shown with how Alex bullies him and with Charles not really standing up for him. In contrast, the other physical mutants (Angel and raven) are shown acceptance, Angel by Shaw and Raven by everyone (accept Charles till the end). It really explains Hanks motivations and how, even when shown how his powers are useful and he is surrounded by people in a similar situations, he still goes through with his serum. If he can’t find acceptance with the mutants, where can he
Hublub Entertainment I remember a time studios woulda seen this as free advertising. Now it's all 'protecting their property'. As if videos like this are in any way damaging the profits!
CinemaWins = Charles; CinemaSins = Erik. Something's always niggled at me about that part where Erik sends the coin through Shaw's head. It doesn't look like it's in slow motion, right? So the coin slowly burrows through his skull? I don't doubt Erik has the force to do that, but there's nothing physically holding Shaw in place (just Charles's telepathy keeping him from moving). Try pushing a coin through a watermelon that's not secured in place and what happens? The watermelon rolls away. I can't watch that part without imagining Shaw's head is made of pudding! Maybe it has something to do with his energy absorbing powers? I'unno!
Look at it this way, Magneto has come a long way in developing his powers with Charles help at that point, can haul the sub onto the beach, turn hurdereds of shells and missiles back in their tracks, so the idea that Eric is holding Shaw in place with the iron in his blood and calcium in his bones (yes, calcium is a metal) while Charles is just shutting down Shaw's mind so he can't just absorb the energy of the impact, isn't beyond reason. As to why the coin is going so slowly... well, Shaw Killed Erics mother as casually as ordering a coffee, so to him, there is NO degree of suffering Shaw could experience that would compensate for that. If he could have caused him to burn in agony for ten thousand years it wouldn't have sufficed. Unrealisic? Perhaps... but look at Civil War, one of the defining lines is "I don't care, he killed my mom!" So Eric Lencher wanting Shaw to die in agony, to see it coming and not to be able to stop it.... yeah, he'll do that. I actually think he kept it as short as he did to spare Charles, at least a bit. Indeed it is, to me, at least, a shame that the Princess Bride wasn't out when this fim was set, since it robbed them of the chance to do "Hello, my name is Eric Lencher, you killed my mother, prepare to die!" Because a Princess Bride reference is _always_ a win!
You just mentioned how Charles was holding him in place. There's no reason to believe that that isn't enough Force. I mean, we've seen him hold people in place before without gravity or other laws of physics taking advantage of the hard way they were posed.
I know I’m way late, but I thought the reason the coin went so slow was because Shaw’s power was to absorb energy, and the more movement the more energy. I just thought it was magneto bypassing Shaw’s power, but that’s my take. Also I don’t think Eric ever had the ability to control metal in someone’s blood, it was never mentioned nor shown. I think it’s just Charles holding him in place.
5:39 both guys are eating Oreos while both girls are drinking something. Sean and Hank look genuinely curious and confused that someone's addressing them while Raven and Angel look immediately like they know where this is going. It might not have any real significance but it was something I just noticed and thought was interesting
Magneto serial number on his arm is 214782. You see it in this movie on Fassbender; when Mckellan shows it in X-men: LAST STAND its the same. Excellent attention to detail for character consistency between movies.
Mostly I was REALLY happy to see McAvoy and Hoult in a movie together. I was watching one in "Shameless" on BBC and the other in "Skins" where he was amazing. Then we got Frankenstein so we could see McAvoy and Radcliffe, and my life is complete! At least until I see some new up and coming yummy actors... And I agree, Fassbender as Bond would be outstanding!
one thing that I found while rewatching first class, was that when hank and raven are taking the blood samples hanks pupils are almost completely dialled. At first, i thought it is because of the dim lighting, but upon further inspection, i found that ravens eyes dilate when she says that "I'm sorry that you weren't [in response to hank apologizing for being forward.]" ravens eyes dilate the closer she gets to him. further solidifying their relationship in first class.
I’d like to see you revisit this film among a few others from your earlier years. Great video but you go into such great detail now that your channel has matured. Been with ya since damn near the beginning and can’t wait to see how your channel continues to grow!
The main thing I love about this movie is that it showed just how horrible Charles actually is at human interaction without his telepathy. Like at the beach take his telepathy away and he always says the absolute worst thing that can be said
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who felt that this movie was the best one out of all of X men movies. The story, character arcs and the clashes of ideology between Charles and Erik is just soooooo good!!!! ❤️
I love this movie so much. Look I know the plot is the main problem people have with this movie but the technical side of this film is honestly Oscar worthy, the subtle ideas it shows are great it just the fact it's about mutants and the plots a bit dumb.
DMQ Productions I just watched this movie and I thought it was brilliant. The plot made sense and totally felt cohesive in bringing the xmen together. Can you tell me some reasons why some people were complaining?
the one thing that will always break me is that erik willingly (by extension) caused charles extreme pain when he killed shaw. a coin through your skull? sounds painful. and it's even sadder because without charles to freeze shaw and suffer, erik would've been in danger or even possibly killed. charles in here was probably the person erik cared for the most, so seeing him willingly putting charles into the physical (and mental) pain was crazy. part of me can't even believe he would do it. unless in his obsession with killing shaw, that little fact somehow passed his mind? or was he really just ready to subject charles to that? because him in total concern and panic seeing charles in pain after being hit by a bullet was such a contrast.
This movie is honestly my favorite MCU movie out there, and possibly my favorite movie, i love the actors in the film, i may be biased because i love the whole early 60's theme, but its just such a good movie.
Dude, you're doing wonderful things for hollywood and the entertainment industry as a whole. In a culture that applauds how much you can hate something, you remind us that it okay (and even good!) to see the good in something and even love it when other people are telling you it's not good enough. Keep up what you're doing, man.
Also, he is the greatest Supervillian of all time, because his Power is not Persuasion. He can manipulate metal, and yes with that he can use our own technology against us, but his nemesis is with someone who can read minds, and ultimately control, or kill everyone on Earth with his Mind. Okay, he also has the technical knowhow to shield himself from this, but ultimately he is the Leader of the Mutants, the Mutant Race, not the splinter organization that tries to reconcile the race-war with the humans, but ultimately Emperor of Genosha, but not because he's the most Powerful mutant. He doesn't have the power to bend people's minds to his will, but he does it, anyway. Not with his mutant ability, but with his Charisma, Determination, and actually being Right. On the right side of Evolution, the wrong end of Attempted Genocide, and the logical argument that Humans can peacefully coexist with people they rightly fear as being more powerful? No, it's us vs them, and it will always be us vs them, until one of us is extinct. Most likely the ones that can't shoot kinetic energy from our eyes, control the weather, or fly buildings around. All Charles has to wave his hand and say "These aren't the droids you're looking for." The comics especially stress that he doesn't use his power to the fullest because that would make him a Tyrant. Magneto is a Tyrant. A despot, and genocidal maniac, but he doesn't even have that power. He doesn't need it. (It doesn't hurt that Humans keep coming after him with metal, and electronics based technologies. Basically what we have instead of telepathy is the internet, and instead of maglev, we have airplanes. Magneto is the natural opposite, not of X, but of US.)
What people, including Erik, never got was that had Charles pulled the trigger, Erik would've died. He had the power to deflect the bullet, sure, but he have no thought to the hot muzzle flash that comes with it. It would have burned Eric at such close range, caused him to lose focus, and BOOM! dead in a flash. Charles didn't even know that, but he still didn't shoot Erik because he couldn't fathom the act and possibly hurting his friend where, as you stated, Erik pushed that coin through Shaw's head knowing that Xavier would feel it. In other words, Xavier didn't want to risk killing or hurting Erik despite knowing how powerful he was while Erik didn't care if he hurt Charles because he knew he'd survive Shaw's death.
I love this channel, not just the idea of it, but the way you find hidden treasure especially in under-rated or critically panned movies, and send us back for another look. I would like to see Everything Great About Serenity, Tomb Raider, Alien3, ... but I'll watch whatever you put out there :)
As someone who never saw the trailers for this movie (I didn't start seeing the trailers for the prequels/alternate timeline until Days of Future Past), I very much disagree that the line "Peace was never an option" has lost it's punch. It's one of my favorite line's in this movie. Also, I think I finally get what you mean about how the film felt. It's a story about the people, not the mutants. Look at it like this, in the original movies, while real names (Charles (mostly by Erik), Logan, Erik (mostly or exclusively by Charles), Raven, Jean, Scott, etc.) are used, the characters we see are Professor X, Storm, Wolverine, Magneto, Mystique, Cyclops, etc. We don't really SEE the people behind the heroes and villains. In this movie, it's not Professor X and Magneto, it's Charles and Erik. By the end, we see a hint of Professor X and we see Magneto in all his glory, but for most of the movie, we aren't seeing them, we're seeing Charles and Erik. It's really nice and is probably why this is most X-Men fans favorite movie; it gave us MORE to the characters. Backstory, personality prior to being Professor X and Magneto, real connections with each other and others.
I really loved when Charles realizes “I can’t feel my legs” and just keeps repeating it like it won’t sink in. It’s hard to explain but I would’ve given a win to that
Shoot. That was a heartbreaking scene for me! 😥

Ja, der "Schweinebauer" war Ludger Pistor de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludger_Pistor und Fassbender hat nen deutschen Vater

And as such, bilinguality should also be a win.
The nice part of this scene was that every other actor is german. So very fitting.
It's not very surprising as he is half-german half-irish. But YES
In apocalypse he speaks polish xD
8:48 I hear Fassbender's Irish accent as he says "killed my mother" as if he dropped his dialect training to fully access his feelings while delivering that line.
I'm grateful this amazing actor was willing to take on the stigma of starring in comic book movies in order to play this wonderful role
I always thought that line delivery felt a little weird, but half slipping into his native accent makes perfect sense. Good catch.
I never thought of that. The way he said it always just sounded like a cool way to emphasize the line. But now it’s kind of tickling my brain to think it might’ve been accidental. But I’m not sure if my brain is tickled in a good way? I dunno, its definitely interesting tho
When he drops the accent, it felt like a reference to Ian McKellen’s performance, as that moment was when Erik crossed over into the “dark side”.

It's a surprise that he hasn't one yet.

Some of the best character development I've ever seen is with Xavier and Magneto. I've always loved their awkward friendship, and this movie showed the emotional ups and downs of their relationship perfectly.

Lets just remember the moment from X3 where Magneto says "Good bye old friend," and walks away from Charles grave.
I always liked X3 just for all the saddest in it.
Kat Lu 's AMV I like X3 but it is a mess of a movie.
That inadvertently woke up Xavier who senses the rage of the mutant and caused him to find Raven as a child.
yes, all the yes
Wait Eric screaming didn’t wake Charles up. Are you telling me that’s not a thing.
@Red Knight no yeah I get that I thought that when Eric screamed and it woke Charles. I didn't know that it was a theory
Surprised you didn't go with a Chekhov's gun pun about Eric and Charles. Charles refuses to shoot Eric and later Eric unwittingly shoots Charles.
I think that one more win should've been awarded for the excellent chemistry between Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, their friendship really made for an effortless blend.

external adaptation, you can tell during his death that his body is trying to adapt to the LITERAL PLASMA LAZER RAYS (THAT CATCHES STONE AND METAL ON FIRE) that are forced down his gullet, there was no evidence of the adaptation being internal, making him a glass cannon, when such dangerous objects are placed internally (such as a highly volatile explosive material getting forced down his throat)...
also you can argue that his death solidifies the want to protect mutants from each other...because if they just killed the bigoted CIA goons, really there would be little insight to stop them compared to, "my name is Diego Monta, you killed my father prepare to die" I mean... they probably never met another one of *them* another mutant...they felt like they had a family, people to relate to for once in there lives...and one just died protecting another "family member"

who think that this channel is better than cinema sins

So a big win for CinemaWins on that one.

Who cares if they're not gay, or not cannon.
Only once? They are god awful, most of their story wise sins are BS. The technical things they get right ofc.

FINALLY a RUclips critic who is not a jerk!
@@jahnybravo2168 I know right, that's always bothered me
7:01 is my favorite scene of the movie 👌🏻 so beautifully done
12:30
The left soldier's reaction gets me, don't know if it was intentional or not, but it humanizes him a little and plays into the 'men just following orders' motif.
Eric and Charles story is sooooo much like ObiWan and Anakin's story... well similar anyway! lol
Maybe if Ani and Obi was done better.
“I have the high ground, Eric!”
Prof. X as Mlk jr and Magneto as Malcolm X
If he can’t find acceptance with the mutants, where can he
I'm having Deja Vu
SAME.
What is this!
Dammit Barry, always fucking up those timelines...
+That's Sarah lol I get it
Me aswell
"Xaviers superior intellect."
Ummmmm.....Are you sure him being telepathic had nothing to do with it?
I wonder why the studio got stuffy about the previous upload of this? Granted it's their content but it's only giving them praise.
It was probably just a copyright strike for footage used. E.g. holding a certain shot too long with the music and dialogue (and without commentary).
Hublub Entertainment I remember a time studios woulda seen this as free advertising.
Now it's all 'protecting their property'. As if videos like this are in any way damaging the profits!
1701spacecadet They should give the CW guy a cut of their royalties since I bet it actually will help increase their profits.
Don't insult Erik.
@@godofthecripples1237 he's not holding them in place then, he's forcing them to actively make adjustments to remain perfectly still.
Charles: Don't say it don't say it-
Hank: On yOUr LeFT
Wow! I didn't even notice all the comparison with Charles and Eric at the start even though I've seen it like a billion times!
Magneto serial number on his arm is 214782. You see it in this movie on Fassbender; when Mckellan shows it in X-men: LAST STAND its the same.
Excellent attention to detail for character consistency between movies.
Everything great about Green Lantern you will have your work cut out for you but there is some good in that movie
I actually enjoyed that movie.
Damn, when I typed this, you posted 7 hours ago, and had 7 likes. What are the odds?
XD
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS MOVIE SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!
One of My Favorite X-Men Movies ever!!!
I totally agree with the splendor of this movie! The critics are too harsh on it. It's fantastic.
I'm really glad that you mentioned Henry Jackman's theme for magneto and Frankenstein's monster
I love rewatching your reviews of these new X-Men movies. I remember watching this one in theatres and liking it a whole lot.
one thing that I found while rewatching first class, was that when hank and raven are taking the blood samples hanks pupils are almost completely dialled.
Like at the beach take his telepathy away and he always says the absolute worst thing that can be said
Probably just dosen't have a lot of practice and that's why
The Track “Frankensteins Monster” perfectly encapsulates Erik’s story
I have the same chess set that Eric and Charles are playing with at the Lincoln memorial, and the board and pieces are magnetic
The english translation at 2:06 isn't "stop hitting yourself" it's "don't touch this alarm"
Twas a joke monsieur
Fassavoy is a win!
This movie is honestly my favorite MCU movie out there, and possibly my favorite movie, i love the actors in the film, i may be biased because i love the whole early 60's theme, but its just such a good movie.
It's not part of the MCU.
Xmen movies arent part of the MCU (Not yet at least)
Dude, you're doing wonderful things for hollywood and the entertainment industry as a whole. In a culture that applauds how much you can hate something, you remind us that it okay (and even good!) to see the good in something and even love it when other people are telling you it's not good enough.
Keep up what you're doing, man.
5:21 Erik like "uh yeah don't call me that"
Ahhh waking up and see an "everything great about..." is probably one of the greatest pleasures a human can experience!
Except Darth Vader .
"At least your son will carry on your jerkiness."
I'M DYING
I didn't fined anything different??!!Still love your videos!!! Can't wait for the next one. I always wait in anticipation!
